《Ice Cold ~ Toshiro x Reader》7- Watermelon

You stretched, letting out a content sigh. You had finally finished Rangiku's paperwork... that is, the paperwork on her desk. You couldn't bring yourself to check for any hiding places. You were exhausted. It had been, what, seven hours? You sighed at the realisation. Plus, you were starving hungry.
You rubbed your eyes tiredly, and stood up. At some point you ended up doing the work while hanging over the edge of the couch, so you felt a little dizzy when you stood up.
"Taichou, I'm done..." you moaned tiredly, rubbing the back of your neck. No response. "Taichou?"
Your silver-haired Captain was fast asleep at his desk. You gaped a little at the sight, and stared at him, not knowing what to do. He looked so... peaceful. You just watched as his shoulders rose and fell, and decided to grab him a blanket. You ran over to the cupboard, grabbing one, then tiptoed back to him.
You stood behind him, and put the blanket over him. With a yawn, you decided to leave before he woke up. You opened the door, and-
"L/N."
You uttered an exasperated sigh, and turned around slowly.
"Did you finish?" he asked tiredly. You nodded.
"Y-Yeah..."
He stood up, the blanket falling off him and onto the ground. He whipped his head around, confused, then picked it up.
"What's this doing here?" he asked, just as you were about to walk out to avoid the embarrassment.
"Oh... I... put it on you while you were sleeping, in case you were cold. S-Sorry, Taichou you just..." you trailed off, lifting your head. His cheeks were dusted slightly with pink, to your surprise. He nodded slowly.
"Okay." he said, looking up at you. You felt like you were going to melt if he gazed at you any longer.
"Bye!" you let out quickly, shutting the door before he could say anything

Taking a deep breath, you stood outside the door, muttering about blankets. Suddenly, your stomach growled, and you collided with the door.
"O-Ow..." you murmured, rubbing your head angrily.
"L/N?" you heard a voice call from inside the office. You covered your mouth anxiously and leaned up against the door, hoping that he would forget about it.
"L/N." he repeated, and you heard footsteps getting closer. The door opened, and you hit the floor with a slam.
"T-Taichou!" you whined, cradling your arm sorrowfully. You looked up at him. It felt strange to have your short Captain stare at you from above.
"What are you doing?" he asked.
"That hurt..." you murmured, dodging the question. He stared blankly.
"What are you doing, (L/N)?" he repeated sternly.
"Uhm... I was just daydreaming, and..."
You fumbled awkwardly with your human clothes, too embarrassed to admit that you had been scared by your own stomach.
"And?" he hummed, waiting patiently.
"M-My stomach grumbled..." you began quietly.
You waited to see if he would say anything, but he didn't. You looked up at him, and realised he was staring at you, amused.
"It made me jump and hit my head," you blurt out, deciding to get it over and done with. You glanced away, mortified.
"Oh?" he said, smiling softly. You huff, and stand up.
"What do you mean, 'oh'?" you asked grumpily, your face heating up. You began to walk off, a scowl on your face.
"I guess I'll have to eat all this by myself," he mused. You stiffened up, and stopped in your tracks.
"I'll just throw out the leftove-"
"No!" you protested, turning around and searching for the food in question. He wasn't holding anything, but rather, the corners of his mouth were tilted up in a way that annoyed you to the core. Your jaw dropped at the realisation that he was teasing you. Your grumpy, strict, white-haired Captain had just teased you.

"What food?" you demanded.
"Tea?" he answered, which was more of a question. You glared, too angry to swoon.
"Taichou, that's mean," you snapped, stepping closer. He looked right into your eyes, not seeming intimidated.
"Really, really, really mean," you continue, glaring. You stepped right next to him, so close that he could hear you breathe. He stood still, his mouth slightly agape at the fact that you were stepping closer.
"What are you-"
He stopped as you leaned towards him, and his eyebrows rose, yet he still didn't tear his gaze from yours.
"L/N, I'm-"
You ripped his Captain's haori over his head and ran away, slipping it on yourself.
"L/N!" he shouted, stumbling after you angrily. You stuck your tongue out at him, only enraging him further.
You laughed, happy to be ahead of him- even if he was gaining speed on you.
"Stop. That's an order." he demanded angrily, but before you could retort, you realised he was right in front of you.
"What the hell?" you gasped, your eyes wide. He looked like he was about to snatch his haori back, but his eyes drifted to his office. His paperwork was waiting... plus the door was open...
He dragged you into the office, and you were too embarrassed to protest.
"Give me my haori," he demanded, a deadly gleam in his eyes. "I'm your Captain. If you don't listen, you'll be reported for insubordination."
You roll your eyes.
"Reported? I'm the one who was forced to come to the Soul Society in the first place. If I'm reported, what difference will it make?" you ask, simply wanting to have the last laugh. Still, you slid the haori off, ashamed of your actions.
"You would be moved to another division, probably... but that's it, so I guess you have a point," he answered you, taking it.
You gaped at him.
"Nooooo! I like this division! You're the only one I know in the whole of the Gotei 13, except for that old man! Don't get me shipped off to those other divisions! Please? I... I... might not take your haori again!" you pleaded, and he raised his eyebrows, amused yet again.
"You're so gullible," he muttered, rolling his eyes. Still, you noticed that the tip of his ears went a little red at your pleading, and at that, you flashed him a smile.
"I'll help you with your paperwork if you get me some actual food," you proposed, changing the topic.
He opened his mouth to protest, seeing as it was the Captain's duty to do his own work, but he knew he would probably regret turning you down.
"Alright," he frowned simply, and reluctantly pulled out one of two watermelons.
"Oh! Watermelon?" you exclaim, readily pulling out the knife so as to butcher the poor fruit. Chopping it up happily, you munch into it with gusto, then notice a certain white-haired Captain staring at you.
Or, to be specific, your watermelon.
You sighed, and handed him a piece.
"What's this for?" he asked, confused.
"Don't act like you didn't want it. And where's my thank-you?" you pouted. He raised an eyebrow.
"I'm the one that gave the watermelon to you in the first place."
You opened your mouth to object, and immediately closed it.
"S-Savage..." you sighed exasperatedly, and at that, you finished your paperwork.
"Later gater," you called, your mouth still full of watermelon as you stepped out.
Now, with him out of the way... time to explore, you thought, grinning evilly.
