《Daminette》Chapter 3

Marinette's POV
It was exactly 1 week after we confessed. I was more then happy until one day Talia came in.
"What do you want, Mother?" Damian asked in disgust as we both glared at her.
"The girl has to die. Take her away." She ordered and my eyes widened.
"Don't you dare." Damian growled as he stood in front of me.
We started to fight and then, Damian got stabbed by a katana.
"Run, beloved. I'll be fine. Get your kwamis' and run." He said and pecked my lips.
I was crying and shook my head.
"No, please, I can't leave you."
"You have to go." H begged me and I nodded.
"I'll find you again, I promise." And with that, I left.
I ran into a room unnoticed by the assassins in the temple. I saw te miracle box and grabbed it. I quickly put on Kaalki's glasses, my earrings and Plagg's ring.
I transformed into Lady Mare and opened a portal. I used it to leave the temple and teleported straight to Chloe. Luckily she was in her room. She was with Kagami and Luka.
"MARINETTE DUPAIN-CHENG!" She screeched as she hugged me tightly.
I hugged back and de-transformed while doing so.
"Melody/Mari-hime." Luka and Kagami yelled while joining the hug.
Once they pulled away they started asking questions. I ignored them and a tear slipped down my face.
"Marinette, what did that bitch Talia do?" Tikki asked concerned and I took a shaky breath.
"I-I left him there. A-all alone with Talia a-and the rest o-of the l-league." I said and burst into tears. My friends and the kwami's were confused but comforted me.
"Who?" Chloe then asked.
"Exactly 2 weeks ago I was kidnapped by an organisation called the League of Assassins. They are well, assassins. Anyway, the leader's name is Talia Al Ghul. She has a son, Damian Wayne. Yes as in Bruce Wayne. She forced us to marry each other and bonded us by the lazarus pit. After a week we confessed and ya know.. We were- are in love. Today, Talia came in and she-she told the assassins to kill me. Damian and I fought them off. He unexpectedly got stabbed. I took care of the last assassins and Talia suddenly disappeared. Damian told me to run a-and I d-didn't want to b-but I dd in the end a-ad I l-left him with his m-mother a-and what if he hates me now." I said now crying again.

"I AM GOING TO CATACLYSM HER!" Plagg yelled.
"HOW DARE SHE!" Tikki yelled.
"YOU WERE KIDNAPPED, FORCEFULLY MARRIED TO A STRANGER, FELL IN LOVE WIH HIM AND HAD TO ESCAPE AFTER GETTING ATTACKED AND YOU ARE WORRIED IF HE HATES YOU?!" Chloe yelled as I nodded.
"Oh Marinette, you never change."

The Oresteia (Modernized)
All three of the great Greek Tragedians have written plays about the bloody chain of murder and revenge within the royal family of Argos. Yet theirs is in fact not a story of tragedy, but rather one of redemption. As they move from darkness to light, from rage to self-governance, from primitive ritual to civilized institution, their spirit of struggle and regeneration becomes an everlasting song of celebration to be heard throughout the ages. Forming a discourse set against the emergence of Athenian democracy out of a period of chaos and destruction, the Orestian plays are compelling stories of the tensions between our obligations to our families and the laws that bind us together as a society. In the beginning, we witness how a king’s decision to sacrifice his daughter and turn the tide of war inflicts lasting damage on his family, culminating in a terrible act of retribution. In the aftermath of regicide, we behold how a son must set out to avenge his father’s death by committing a most egregious sin. In the end, the sinner is tormented by supernatural powers that can never be appeased, but ultimately finds redemption and ends the curse on his house once and for all. Woven through all of this is the story of a friendship so close that it elevates itself to brotherhood - Where the blood of the covenant is shown to be indeed thicker than the water of the womb. In this very brief twelve-chapter modern rendition of the Orestian plays, I have chosen to place my focus mainly on the lives of the characters Orestes and his best friend Pylades. The chapters, each around 2000-2500 words, are split up evenly between them in first-person narrative. I hope that you will come to enjoy reading this heartwarming story, but more importantly, that you see how the conflicts portrayed in the story, whether human or institutional, are still much very relevant to our societies today. Note on Sources: The details of this story is very loosely based on The Oresteia by Aeschylus. And I mean very loosely. Other sources that I referenced for detail and inspiration are Mythology by Edith Hamilton, Electra by Sophocles, and Iphigenia in Tauris by Euripides. You may also find that I have quoted some of these works, and others (such as Shelley's Ozymondaeus), without citations (average of 1-2 such quotes per chapter). I did this because I do not have the ability to describe certain scenes nearly as well as some of those writers. If you read a particularly beautiful piece of prose here, chances are it's probably stolen lol. Also, I wrote this during the summer between my high school senior year and my college freshmen year. It was the summer of 2020, and being quarantined apparently gets my creative side out lol.

Obstinate Han
A power progression fantasy with a main character who trains constantly but who lacks purpose, direction, and motivation. The world he lives in, however, is not a peaceful one. As obstinate as Han can be, with all of humanity edging slowly towards annihilation, will he truly be able to avoid becoming entangled in the affairs of the deities fighting over his new universe? This story is a slow burn rather than a fast paced action/adventure, and is centered around the perspective of a main character who struggles with depression, apathy, anhedonia, and asociality. This world was doomed well before he arrived, and he knows it. Rather than following the traditional hero model, he just wants to train for its own sake, and to scrape out occasional moments of happiness in a ruined and dying world.

Winter Fire [ Book 1 ] ✔
On the second jump, Claire's bad leg gave way and she felt herself tumbling forward. A cry of surprise escaped her and Claire was certain she was about to topple off the side of the train. Alek, however, moved quickly, catching her mid-fall and keeping her upright, and alive. Claire lifted her eyes to meet his which were wide with alarm. The expression was fleeting, lasting for only a moment before it was replaced by a frown. "You could have fallen," he said pointedly."I know," Claire breathed, finding her thoughts drifting to the strong arm wrapped around her waist. A flush rose to her cheeks and she was grateful for the biting wind that masked her reaction. "Thank you.""You need to be more careful," he continued, his eyes locked on hers, bright and haunting in the silver glow of the moon overhead."I will," Claire assured him, her heart skipping in her chest.
