As much of a surprise it was, it wasn't unexpected that Nova was pregnant. Alaric and I even spoke about it when we came home from the cabin that we hadn't used protection. I guess it was just a shock that it actually happened instead of us talking about Nova baring our pups. Even days later Nova is still a little wary around us. Alaric noticed as well and brought it up when Nova had a nap. Overall it's been three days since we all found out, and three days Nova has been skittish around us.

Yesterday she was napping and Alaric had spoke to me about her being how she is. Personally I think it's because I told her that we should wait a couple years before having pups. And she said that if we had pups she would do it herself, Alaric and I wouldn't have to do anything because we don't want pups for a while, which isn't the deal at all. If anything while Novas healing it'll be Alaric and I doing it all while she has cuddles and feeds her if she decides to breastfeed instead of pumping and using bottles.

We hate that she's being distant. Even when I took them out for the date the day she told us, nova seemed a little distant. Three days of this, Alaric and I refuse to let her do this on her own so we're making her, her favourite meal so we can all sit down and talk about what's going on. Alaric and I stood in the kitchen cooking while Nova was sat in the living room watching tv.

"Nova." I called her. "Come sit down for dinner." Footsteps came as Nova walked into the kitchen. Alaric and I gave her a soft smile which we only got a small one back.

Sighing, I put the plates on the table while my mates sat down. Theo had done to our parents house tonight with Mika and Miya. Soon we'd have to move back to my house with the pup on the way and we'd need more space. Theo's house is large, but I don't want to take it up with baby things as it was his and Mikas space before ours, I just think it'd be better to have our own house, to make this real where we can start our family.

We all ate in silence until I couldn't stop myself from talking. "Nova, what's going on?" I frowned. We know there's something going on that she's not telling us.

"What do you mean?" She furrowed her eyebrows. "There's nothing going on."

"Why are you being so distant with us, baby?" Alaric asked her softly. "You haven't been yourself for a couple days now. Karter and I are worried about you. Tell us what's going on."

"You don't want pups." Nova cried her fork dropping on the table. "I-I know you hate me because it happened. If I do it on my own you don't have to worry about it."

"No, nova." I sighed and pulled her on to my lap where Alaric stood next to us. One of our arms around each other, the other holding Nova close to us. "Doll we did this, not you. You don't have to do anything on your own. Please talk to us about these things. We're your mates baby, you never have to do anything on your own. Not while we're around."

"I'm scared." She cried.

"What are you scared for?" Alaric asked while smoothing down her hair.

"For a baby. I don't understand like you and Karter, or mika and Wyatt. I won't be a good mum to it."

"You'll be the best mum everyone has seen in this pack. No one can tell you how to be or how to parent because you'll be so good at it. A natural baby." I told her. "It's okay that you don't understand because any questions the pup has when it's older can be answered by me or Alaric, can't it? Or we can tell you and you can tell the pup. Nova, we're all in this, you, me and alaric. Not just one or two of us because that's not how we are. We're a trio and we'll be the best damn parents we can be. So no more being distant-," I wiped her eyes with my thumbs. "-and tell us your worries. There's no point in mates if they can't help one another."

"Okay." She nodded with a smile.

"What will we be?" Alaric smiled at her.

"The best damn parents." Nova giggled. We both smiled at her knowing she'll be the most caring mother in the world. And I can't wait for the day I see her hold our pup in her arms. Just imagining it, my mate sitting on our bed holding our little boy or girl smiling down at them with so much love.

"On a serious note though." I spoke up. "We're going to have to move to my house baby. More space for the baby and we need our own home, now that we're starting a family."

"Okay." Nova nodded wiping under her eyes. "I understand. We tell papa and dada tomorrow about the pup. And grandpa and Toto?"

"Of course doll. We'll tell everyone tomorrow." I smiled at her. After that, Nova refused to leave mine and Alarics sides. She sat on my lap while we ate dinner. Usually she doesn't eat the whole meal, but because of the pup I encouraged Nova to try and finish the plate. She got three quarters of the dinner finished which Alaric and I praised her for since we've never seen her eat that much before.

After dinner we went to our bedroom. Nova wanted a bath so I filled the tub while Alaric cuddled on the bed waiting for me to join them. Thankfully the tub was big enough for all three of us to fit in so we didn't have to be apart especially how Nova was glued to us. Bubbles rimmed the tub while we undressed. Nova giggled and played with the bubbles while Alaric and I watched her. I know this pup will change a lot of things, but I pray to the moon goddess that it doesn't change Nova too much.

I completely understand Nova wanting to be 'big' and have a better mindset to raise the pup, but I don't want her to force it. Nothing can be done over night, and I want her to stay the same. She's so capable of doing it all while she has the headspace she does. But Nova doesn't see that, she sees it as a weakness when it's her strength.

One day, I really hope Nova her sees her the way Alaric and I do. And I know for a fact that our future pups will love their mama so much.
