The last class was nearing the end, I'm really excited to get ice cream with Karter. I love doing things with Karter, he makes me happy. Whatever we do, he always makes it fun so we have a great time. Even if we stay at home and watch a film, he always gets me things to make it fun so I'm not bored. Never makes a day together boring.

The teacher dragged on about erosion, geography is always a morning subject for me, but luckily I have Karter, Mika and Wyatt in here. Only the teacher had us separated because were all related. It makes me angry because all I want to do is be with Karter but no one lets me.

As soon as the bell rang, Karter and I stood up leaving the class together with the rest of the people. Mika and Wyatt are coming to get ice cream with us since they love it just as much as I do, but I love it more. When we got to the car, my cousins got into the back seats while I was in the seat next to Karter. Mika called shot gun, but Karter said no because we've been away from each other all day so he wanted me next to him.

Not that I'm complaining because I like being close to Karter. He makes me happy. I get butterflies in my belly and when he holds me I feel really good, and never want to leave his arms. I just want to cuddle him forever and never move. He's my best friend and I don't want to lose that because I know it'll make me sad.

Once Karter parked his car at the ice cream parlour, we got out and went inside.

"What do you want baby doll?" Karter asked me.

"Can I have, um, I have bueno and rocky road please?" I answered.

"Of course." He smiled and asked Mika and Wyatt what they want. After that, we sat down while Karter got the ice cream for us.

"So, are you excited to meet you mate in a couple weeks time?" Mika asked me. She's still waiting for her mate, but she feels that they're close. And mine and Karters birthday is coming up in a months time, we usually have a party together in between our birthdays, but as we got older Karter hasn't wanted one so we always share a party on my birthday.

"Yeah." I nodded and blushed. "I hope they are like Karter."

"And why's that!" Wyatt joined in.

"'Cause he take care of me. Karter makes me happy." I whispered.

"What if Karters your mate. You never know Nova, he might be." He stated.

"I-I don't know. He's my best friend. He can't be my mate." I shook my head with a frown. He's not, we are best friends and he'll always look after me, Karter will always be there.

"You never know." Mika said before going quiet when she saw Karter coming towards us. He handed me my cone before sitting down next to me and giving the other two theirs.

"What's going on?" Karter questioned while I settled, cuddling up to his side.

"Nothing. Just seeing if Nova's ready to meet her mate." Mika said with a smile, making Karter tense up next to me. "What about you? Are you excited to get a mate or a beloved?"

"Not really." He replied looking down and licking his ice cream.

"How come? I'd do anything to have mine by now. Wyatt's the lucky one having his." Mika rolled her eyes.

"Leave Edith out of this." Wyatt glared at her.

"Because if I find my mate before Nova's birthday then who will look after her." Karter shrugged still looking down. "They will want all of my time so no one will be able to care for Nova like I do. I don't want to make the mistake of someone taking advantage of me."

Why does everyone say that? That someone will take advantage of me. What does it even mean?

"What's that mean?" I whispered to Karter.

"What baby doll?"

"Take advantage of me? Why do people keep saying that?" I asked.

"Nothing doll. It's not important." He smiled softly. I nodded with a frown but kept quiet, I'll ask papa and dada later.

When we got home, Karter walked me in. It was his feeding day so he had to go hunt. Toto and him do it as they need to survive. They only do it once a month and any other time it's blood bags. Once I wanted to try a blood bag, but Karter refused. One day I found one in his fridge and took some, he found me throwing up when he got out of the shower. Yep, never again.

"I'll see you tomorrow baby doll, be good." Karter kissed my head. I nodded and hugged him tightly like I always do when he goes home.

"Love you Karter. See you in the morning." I whispered.

"I love you baby doll. I'll see you soon." He kissed my head again before leaving.

At around six, we all had dinner and I sat in my room waiting for papa and dada to come in. They tuck me in and give me good night kiss before I go to sleep.

It wasn't long until they came into my room before they go to bed. Papa sat closer to me while dada sat behind him.

"Goodnight my baby girl." Papá smiled softly and kissed my forehead.

"Papa, what's taking advantage of mean?" I asked, curiosity getting the better of me.

"Why?" He frowned looking at dada then back at me.

"Karter say it today at ice cream. Then Kobe say it when Karter here for breakfast. People say it a lot." I frown with him.

"Uh, it means when someone, does something because someone doesn't understand. Like you, you sometimes don't understand some things so someone might take that and do something to you because you don't know why they've done it. Or it can mean something else. With Karter, it means that he doesn't want someone doing something to you especially when you don't understand it well like me and papa." Dada told me.

"I still don't know." I whimpered, annoyed that I can't understand like everyone else. "Why don't I know like everyone else?" Tears slowly slid down my cheeks.

"Because you're special. And those who are special don't understand. That doesn't mean it's a bad thing. Sometimes it's better to not understand because somethings are horrible. Don't think about it too much baby girl, we don't want this head getting too big." Papa tapped my head gently making me laugh.

"Okay, ni-night." I yawned closing my eyes.

"Goodnight my baby." Papa and dada both said, kissing my head before leaving my room.
