《Love and Sins (VegasPete Fanfic)》Chapter One

Between the humid dark alley at the corner of the busy streets of Bangkok, Vegas walked by.
He was followed by his four bodyguards who were all wearing casual clothes. Vegas fixed his gaze to the people he's passing by.
Tattoos, cigars, cards and alcohol plus the constant shouting was heard. The ambiance was dark and creepy at all as if walking by this is not fit for a person with weak heart.
"This is the location, Khun Vegas." Nop spoke as they stop by in front of an old jewelry shop.
The old wooden door has a sign that says Open. Vegas didn't wait for any second and enter.
Vegas was welcomed with the reeking smell of tobacco. A small stall near the cashier has a line up jewelries and watches.
"Good morning, Khun Vegas."
Vegas looked coldly to the person who greeted him. A bulky man in his early sixties welcomed him as he places his tobacco in an ashtray.
The light of the place was dim yellow. How come any costumers would dare to enter this place?
"Please sit."
Vegas sat on one of the prepared tables with only two chairs facing each other. The rest of the bodyguards stayed outside.
With his calm composure, he asked. "Why did you call me, Win?"
Win was a former bodyguard of their family especially his father. Vegas would see him as the left hand and will assist his father during transaction. However, Win resigned seven years ago after his wife died because of ambush.
"I heard that Khun Kan died."
Vegas nodded. "That's life."
Win placed two thick folders on the table that made Vegas curious.
"What's this?"
Win can only smile politely. "Since Khun Kan died, I know you will be his successor and will definitely follow his steps."
Vegas rolled his eyes and lay his back to the old wooden chair. "I'm not like my father."
Just the idea of being compared to his father made Vegas clenched his fist. He isn't Kan's clone or a second version. He is Vegas with his ow name and unlike his miserable father, Vegas have someone who will stay with him forever.

"Khun Kan is dead and I believe that the people he did pretty bad before may take revenge." Win said calmly and pointed out the green colored folder.
"What is that?"
"This green folder consist the names of people your father has made alliance with before. Let's just say, they were in good terms with your father, " Win explained. "And this red colored folder has the names of the enemies your father had. If their faces had red marks then they are already dead but if it's a black mark then the people from the Minor Family killed them."
Vegas evilly smirked. "The red folder is thicker than the green one."
"I am just giving you the information I have Khun Vegas before I leave."
"Where are you going?"
"My daughter is in America and next month will be her graduation. I will go there and probably won't come back." Win explained and smile.
"Is this all?" Vegas asked.
Win nodded. "That's all I can have. I hope it will help you."
Vegas looked at his wrist watch and found that it is already four in the afternoon. The restaurant that sells Southern dishes will close at five.
He needs to go there and buy Pete's request before Vegas hears him sulk all over again. He might end up sleeping on the couch AGAIN.
Vegas picked up the folders. "I will check this out."
When he was close on the door, Win called him. Vegas didn't turn his back and remains holding the door knob.
"Be careful, Khun Vegas."
"What is that?"
While Vegas was in front of his table, he heard Pete asked.
The cold and composed posture of Vegas began to relaxed. He turn sideways and found Pete standing.
"Damn." Vegas cursed under his breath when he saw Pete was wearing his white shirt.
"What are you even looking at?" Pete asked angrily and was about to leave when Vegas immediately catched him.
"Stay here."

"Huh? But you're doing something. I'll go to sleep." Pete said and walked away.
Vegas smiled, pick up the two folders and followed Pete to their bedroom. Pete then quickly lay on the bed and covered himself with the thick blanket.
"Why are you sleepy this days?" Vegas asked and sat on the bed.
Pete irritatedly removed the blanket that was covering his face. His eyes seems mad yet he pouted as if he was sulking.
Vegas can only look at him with admiration and gently kissed Pete's forehead.
"Young Master Khun has been singing these past few days that even his out of tune voice got stuck on my head!" Pete complained and hold his temples. "Even in my sleep, I can hear him singing."
Vegas laugh and then places tiny kisses on Pete's cheeks. "Then you should sleep now so you can dream of me."
The corner of Pete's lips twitched. "No. I'll probably have a nightmare."
"You won't have a nightmare."
"I will."
"Maybe sweet dreams."
"Huh?" Pete looked at him and was ready to argue. "If I dream about you then it's not a sweet dream anymore."
"Maybe a wet dream," Vegas teased and he didn't missed.
Pete's eyes grew big and his cheeks turns red.
"Blushing?"
"Damn! Fuck you." Pete said and looked at faces the other side.
"Goodnight."
When Vegas was about to cover Pete with a blanket, Pete turns around and look at him.
"I thought you're going to sleep?"
After asking that, Vegas heart almost exploded when Pete silently went nearer on him. Pete then hugged him in his waist and laid his head on Vegas's chest.
That action made Vegas went crazy that he just wanted to laugh and jump in happiness. Vegas smiled and as he sits, he let Pete stay in that position.
He grab the folders on the side table and would kiss Pete's hair time to time.
Vegas continue to scroll the pages as he feel Pete's soft and slow breathes on his chest.
The information about these people were only brief with some details missing. Some faces are already crossed out using a red pen as a sign that they are already dead. There are also people who's current information were included.
Some are still in business, some already moved to different countries and there are people like Win who already quitted.
While he was scanning the contents of the red colored folder, he stumble upon a page that includes a short BioData of a woman.
There are only few women that are usually involved in this kind of business.
Pam Saengtham
Vegas suddenly remembered Pete's last name. Or maybe this is the woman's name and not her last name.
Born: May 11, 1970
As he read more deeper, Vegas was finally reaching the conclusion.
A spy from the Red Empire who entered the Minor Family's business to gather information.
A spy, huh?
Who's Red Empire? Is that a person or a family?
She managed to steal several clients from Khun Kan and successfully hid every evidences to protect the Red Empire.
That was the note Win wrote himself in a text box.
Vegas heart almost dropped after reading Pete's name. He then bend a little to look at Pete who's now hugging him comfortably and sleeping like a cat.
He suddenly feel a rising tension while looking at the information.
Vegas takes a second look on the profile. The woman was in her mid-20's. She looks at the camera with all kindness in her face that no one will be suspicious that she's a spy.
However, a black cross mark was been labeled on her.
If their faces had red marks then they are already dead but if it's a black mark then the people from the Minor Family killed them.
This woman is Pete's mother?
Note:
Gonna leave this Chapter One as a cliffhanger hahaha. Let's meet again next week!
I wanna know your thoughts.

The Legion of Nothing
Nick Klein is your average high school geek--if you can still count as average when your grandfather is a retired superhero, and you've been trained in the martial arts by his friend, a mysterious, immortal mercenary. After his grandfather dies, Nick inherits the last version of the Rocket suit, powered armor that allows him to shrug off bullets, smash through walls, and manipulate sound. Along with it comes the base of his grandfather's superhero team including the team's jet and trophies from forty years of fighting criminals and aliens. Together, Nick and his friends, descendants of his grandfather's teammates, attempt to bring back a superhero team that was originally formed during World War 2. Along the way they'll face the normal problems of high school (bullies, homework, and dating), and the less normal problems like supervillians and mysteries leftover from their grandparents' past. As a story, it uses the conventions of all eras of comics from the 1940s on, ranging from serious to silly. If you're hoping for a grim and gritty story, this isn't it. The Legion of Nothing first debuted on my website legionofnothing.com in 2007. In that period it's updated more than 900 times, is still running, and has had millions of pageviews.
