《The Players BestFriend》Chapter 8

"Seriously?? Quit running into me!" I ordered, beyond annoyed with the idiot in front of me.
"Maybe you should watch where you're going, sweetheart. I didn't run into you, you ran into me. Now if you would excuse me, I have someone to talk to." Ezra smirked, looking in the direction of Brooklyn.
He is such a freakin' jerk!
"Don't call me sweetheart."
He smirked, causing my blood to boil. "I can call you whatever I want."
"You can wipe that stupid smirk off of your face!"
"You can get out of my way. Like I said, I have someone way hotter than you to talk to. Brooklyn looks mighty fine tonight. Why didn't you dress up?" Ezra asked, looking down at me.
"I did, thank you very much. Oh and by the way, Brooklyn doesn't want some low life like you. You don't and never will have a chance with her."
He poked out his bottom lip, mocking me. "Aww! Is someone jealous?"
"Me? Jealous? Yeah right!" I laughed. "In your dreams playboy."
"Step aside, sweetheart." He growled, shoving into my shoulder, causing me to step on someone's toe.
"Sorry." I apologized to the angered jock, who seems to workout...a lot.
Who does he think he is? I showed up to his crappy party and that's how he treats me? I came here to show Austen I'm way better off without him, not fight with some stupid jerk. Ugh! I need a drink.
As I walked over to the kitchen, I noticed Austen talking to some blonde barbie. She was wearing a dress that barely made it over her hips with some six inch heels. You can tell she's drunk by the way she's standing and how she slurs her words. Austen is smiling at her while stroking her arm. Practical playboy move.
"Hey Kylie!" Someone yelled out on the other side of the kitchen.

I was searching for who called my name until I was tackled, falling onto the ground.
"Drake?" I asked, looking at the person on top of me.
He laughed, "Sorry. I just wanted to talk to you. I didn't mean to fall on you." He offered his hand to help me up and I gladly took it.
"It's okay." I giggled. "So what did you wanna talk about?"
"Nothin' in particular. Just got tired of all the fake girls around here so I thought 'Hey, why not go talk to Kylie?' " He laughed.
"Okay... How do you like the party so far?" I muttered, not really knowing what to say.
"It was actually pretty shi**y until now." He flashed his beautiful smile, causing me to blush.
I looked away, letting my hair fall in front of my face. Drake is...different I guess you would say. He's always been so nice to me. I've always had a small crush on him. I just never acted on it because he's Brooklyn's cousin. I knew she would never approve. I caught a glimpse of Austen. He seems angry, just as I had hoped. The plan is working. Now, time to make him wish I was his.
"Hey Drake, do you want t-to dance?" I asked shyly.
"You don't have to ask. Come on." He laughed, dragging me to the crowded area full of drunk, careless people.
As we made it to the dance floor, "Dark Horse" by Katy Perry came on. I always dance crazy to this song. Hopefully I don't make a fool of myself.
So you wanna play with magic boy you should know what your fallin' for baby do you dare to do this cuz I'm comin' at you like a dark horse
My body started swaying to the music. Drake had his hands on my hips following the rhythm of my body. I might be enjoying this...

Are you ready for ready for a perfect storm a perfect storm cuz once you're mine once you're mine there's no goin' back
I started jumping in the air, belting out the lyrics. Drake just looked at me with amusement. I'm having fun and no one is going to stop me.
The song finally ended which I was very grateful for, considering I'm out of breath. Dancing takes a lot of work.
"Great dancing out there, Kylie. Never knew you could do that." Drake smirked, butterflies forming in my stomach.
I giggled, "Thanks. Well I really like that song. I guess it just kind of spoke to me."
"I'd say so." He laughed. God I love his laugh.
Before I could reply, Austen came over, interrupting our conversation. How rude.
"So this is your new boyfriend, Kylie? Why would you downgrade from me to him?" Austen chuckled deviously, my hatred towards him growing by the second.
"I didn't downgrade. If anything I upgraded. It's not any of your dang business!" I exclaimed.
I looked up at Drake, hoping he would get the message.
"Just leave her alone, bro. Go dance with one of your sluts over there." Drake stated, pointing to a group of drunk girls.
"Oh what? You got pretty boy over here to take up for you? Fight your own battles, Kylie."
"Don't tell me what to do. We're not in a relationship anymore. Leave me the heck alone!" I yelled, shoving him into a wall.
"You little bitc...." Austen shouted before he was punched in the face.
Drake was throwing punches at him left and right. Austen's face was covered in blood, Drake being thrown onto the ground. I noticed blood on his face too. Austen slammed his head into the wall. I could tell Drake was in pain. I have to stop this before someone gets put in the hospital.
I saw Brooklyn through the corner of my eye running towards us. She was holding hands with some guy I've never met before.
"Brooklyn! You have to help! I don't know how to stop them!" I yelled, looking at Brooklyn with worry.
"GUYS!!!! STOP FIGHTING BEFORE I CALL THE COPS! THIS IS RIDICULOUS!! GET YOUR A**'S UP!!!!!" Brooklyn yelled, trying to pull Drake off of Austen.
Brooklyn's friend was trying to help her. He seems sweet.
"Hey! Drake! Dude! You don't need to go to jail again. Your dad would kill you." Brooklyn's friend yelled at Drake, luckily stopping the fight.
Yes, Drake has been to jail several times. He was always getting into fights. His dad is so mad at him. They've never had a good relationship.
"This isn't over!" Drake yelled at Austen, wiping the blood from his mouth.
Ezra was holding Austen back, trying to calm him down. Austen looked pissed. I know Austen shouldn't have said that to me but that doesn't mean Drake should have jumped on him like that.
"Ezra, tell Austen I'm sorry. I didn't know Drake would do that."
I didn't like talking to Ezra but there was no way I was talking to Austen.
"Tell your little boyfriend Austen's not done." Ezra ordered, a serious look stretching across his face.
"No. I know Drake was wrong for doing that but this is between Austen and I. You and Drake need to stay out it."
"Too late. We're all involved now."
I rolled my eyes, "Whatever."
"Do you have a ride? I just saw Brooklyn take Drake home." Ezra asked.
Great. Just freaking great.
"Um... No, actually I don't." I sighed, directing my attention towards the ground.
"I can take you home. Austen is passed out in my room."
Nope. No way am I gettin' in a car with him.
"I don't bite, I promise. It's just a ride home."
What am I getting myself into?
"Okay."

The Kiss of Two Moons
The last year is upon us. The world is ending, but you already knew that; everyone does. Spring has come, and the flowers have bloomed here in this small town with no name. Thousands of different colours now paint the field that had been coloured by frost alone just yesterday. The townsfolk have gathered by the field to celebrate the beginning of the last spring with so many smiling faces. Tears too. I can’t help but wonder whether the flowers will bloom again before the sky falls upon us. Others must be thinking the same. There are moments when the smiles fade and their eyes glaze over as they realize just how near to the end we are. They forget it again in moments. They make themselves forget. The children aren’t like that, though. They don’t seem to understand, or they’ve come to accept it in a way that their parents just can’t manage to. This one boy actually asked me why I was sad. I ended up just telling him that I was waiting for someone, and he scampered off, wearing a silly smile. I can’t help but feel jealous of him. The beginning of next spring; the day that the world ends. It seems so far away, yet so close. Wherever you are now, I have to ask, how are you spending your last spring?
