The drive to the school was silent but not uncomfortable, when we arrived at the school William opened my door and waited for me to grab on his shirt. I shook my head. "I promise I will try harder in being more sociable. I am sorry and Thank you" I said while pushing him lightly and I started walking to the school alone with a nervous smile in my face. I have been planning this for a month now and what happened earlier at the Diner gave me a push to be more bold today. I look back at William. He is behind me, smiling while slowly walking to the door of the school. He made sure that there is a space between us, not too close but not too far as well.

When we reached our locker, Our friends all looked shocked that I'm not holding William's shirt. Ethan was the first to approach us and pinches me in my cheeks. "Wow. Am I dreaming? Your dad" pointing at William "allowed you to go inside the school without you holding him?" he acts like he is going to faint and grabs William's shoulder. "So Dad? Is your daughter allowed to date again? I meeeaaan, your daughter is trying to be rebellious and I am the West mile's Bad boy?" Ethan is playfully hugging me and William.

"Lily will never date you, that was one time" William scoffs.

"Goooodness! William! Lily dated a guy for a year, that's long. The longest relationship you ever had was 4 months" Chloe exclaims punching William lightly on the shoulder.

Ethan and Andrei laugh.William just rolls his eyes. Andrea holds my hand and lightly squeezes it, checking if I am okay. Andrea is the only one who knows how fcked up the relationship I had with Matteo. I squeeze her hand back and smile at her.

"Let's go to the classroom before the warning bell, I don't like crowded hallways" William says while motioning for us to move. The four of us follow him to our first subject, English.

Our English teacher is announcing the grade we received on the final project. I smile when I hear that we got an A+. I zoned out for most of the day until Andrea dragged me to the cafeteria for lunch. Our table is the one in the middle of the cafeteria. Yes, It is the popular kids table. Ethan is the Running back player of the football team. William is the current President of the student council. Andrea and Andrei are twins, they are known for their beauty and IDGAF attitude. Chloe is also known for her beauty and she starred on almost all of the theater shows of our school. I sit down next to Andrea and I smile at Chloe and Andrei.

A few minutes later William and Ethan sat on the table. "Were you able to talk your way out or you guys have detention later? " Chloe asks William and Ethan.

"Of course! We do not have detention. The golden boy was able to charm the teacher" Ethan says while nudging William shoulders. William just rolls his eyes and starts eating a weird looking pizza

"Are you going to the party tonight?" Andrea asks me while nibbling her bread.

"Uhmm no? I have to babysit Mrs. Coles daughter tonight" I stated. William gave me a subtle worried look, I gave him a faint smile and he continued eating.

"Arrgh and I thought I can meet Drunk and horny Lily tonight" Chloe pouted.

"Next time, I'll even give you a strip tease" I winked at her. Andrea and Chloe laughed while Ethan whistled at me. The day ended with nothing that eventful happening. We just received some stares from students since I am not holding on to William's shirt the entire day. I felt free and confident today.

William drops me off at home and walks me to the front door. "So where are you going tonight? We both know that Mrs. Coles did not ask you to babysit? " He asks with a questioning look.

I look up at my giant protective best friend. "I am going to visit her tonight. I just want to update them on what I did today" I said while smiling at him.

He gives me a bear hug and whispers, "I'm proud of you Lily"

I hug him back. "I know, Thank you for everything and enjoy the party okay?" He gives me a nod and a salute. I closed the front door and went to my room. I check the time, It's just 4:00 pm. I still have 2 hours before I go to the Cemetery. I lay in my bed with my laptop and spend my next two hours reading and searching for weird things on the internet.
