*the name lincoln for illinois comes from abraham lincoln
*ohio's last name comes from the wright brothers
*the name dorothy for kansas comes from the wizard of oz. up until she changed it to match the character in 1939, her name was kathryn!
*research was done for alaska, new mexico, new york, south dakota, and north dakota. if any of these names are inaccurate please let me know so i can fix them!!
