《Married to the Heartless Billionaire》42: Worried Every Second

"Honey get on the boat", we tried to persuade Leah to get on the boat as she looked from the peer, nobody knew of her fear of boats, until now. It was impossible to live in Seattle and not go on ferry boats, but Leah she had never gone. Her teary eyes wept as she focused on the rushing water from under the dock, she shrieked with horror as she heard the water collide beneath her.

"Nolan is still here, Natawee we have to stay", she complained as I felt strongly against leaving, what if he needed help or got hurt no one would be there to confront him when he's sick. He had told me that he would only worry if I was there, and If I wasn't he wouldn't have to worry, but it left me worrying every hour, every minute, every second, he was all alone, surrounded by millions of people he didn't know.

"He gave me a phone we can call him I promise", I tried to reason with her as everyone watched as she and I were left on the deck. Alison looked worried as Leah shook her head impatiently.

"Promise", she looked at me with sweet eyes as I pinkie promised her that I would. She sat in my arms as I hopped over the arch and landed on the boat. I felt that wobbly sensation as I steadied myself and Leah on our feet, I put her down as she leaned into me as she felt the water-rock her.

"Can we call him now", she jumped with glee at me as the Captain gave us the sail away call, announcing we were leaving and I watched as the land became slower and slower as I went silent, Leah nagged at my shirt.

"Na-", I snapped out of my endless thoughts as I paid attention to the little girl who missed the same person I did, and all we could do was be there for each other.

I took the phone out of my pocket as Leah looked confused by it all. This wasn't a phone, like a cell phone, it was a flip phone, I loved flip phones, texting isn't the same as hearing that person's voice, and knowing that they are okay, and emails, it's not the same as staring your emails with dear and ending with a sign-off.

I flipped the phone open as his contact popped up, with a picture of him and I smiling, and I closed my eyes humming as I listened to the ring of the phone, bring me back to that time. Our hands touched as we walked into the house, Alison greeted us as we walked in and he held my hand the whole way, he then asked for a picture of both of us, and now I know why he took it.

"Hi baby", his sweet voice shifted me back into reality as I shivered at his voice, so soothing, so calming. I wish he wasn't the one I was worried about.

"Hi," I said nervously as I felt all my nerves enlighten on fire as I heard his heavy breathing through the phone, it gave my heart a break knowing he was safe and sound.

"How is my sweet angel doing?", his words were soothing and gentle, but what I needed was him. His gentle caress against my skin and his eyes peering into mine, I wished with all my heart he was here.

"I'm worrying about you", a nagging Leah pulled at my shirt as she wanted to talk to the man of the hour. He laughed as I knew he would say there was no need too because he would be fine, but that's what they all say when you lose someone you love it changes a person when you say don't worry about me that's all I do.

"I'm right here, there's no need to worry, because I'll be seeing you shortly", he said as I told him about the little munchkin tugging my shirt, I handed the phone as she walked away leaving me in my space alone.

The land got smaller and smaller until all that was left was a little speck that shortly disappeared into the sunny horizon. The waves crashed against the boat as Leah came running up to me.

"He said he wanted to talk to you in, private", she said as she pointed to downstairs, while everyone else was on the deck. I took the telephone and brought it up to my ear as I made my way downstairs as I went into one of the bedrooms and shut the door, I collapsed onto the bed.

"Hi baby", his calming words nestled me as I cozied up to the bed wishing it was him. He sounded agitated as he scoffed at something in the distance as I heard him push aside.

"Everything okay?", I asked as his breathing became heavier and he seemed to sound unsure of himself.

"Yeah, I'm just so confused. How did I not notice my sister had a boyfriend in high school, we went to the same school, lived in the same house", he seemed troubled by the fact that he hadn't known about this mysterious boy living under his very own roof. I would be upset too if my sister had a boy sneaking out and in every crack of dawn and every stroke of midnight.

"Oh didn't you know, girls can be very secretive, they are also good at breaking rules", he laughed at my statement, while I played with my wisps of hair pretending it was him who was moving them out of my face as the AC blew them around.

"I hope my girl isn't secretive", he snarked as I remembered my deepest darkest secret as I buried it into the place it had been for years.

"You'll just have to come over here and see for yourself", I joked as I reminisced to this past week, where all we did was cuddle and tell each other how much we loved each other.

"Oh, I will, about that I have some news to share and I'd like to tell everyone but should I include Avery", he asked a serious question as I began to panic, it didn't sound good and I mean these things are never good, but by the shakiness of his always calm montage he was beginning to question his methods and rewrite his thinking.

"She's invested in this and I think she deserves to know, I mean I know she hates him but deep down she still loves him and I don't know if we can ever change that, but she has a right to know who he truly is.", I told him as he told me to gather everyone on the deck to inform them of this horrid news, that I could tell he was nervous to share.

I hurried upstairs as sweet Leah was sleeping on Alison, while Avery paced the boat, and Tyler tried his best to calm her down, but she was too out of control. Clay and Alec were in charge of the steering of the boats, as the guards took their break as they walked around the boat. I called everyone up as they all came up to me as I put Nolan on speakerphone.

"A police officer's body was found outside of the company and we found out he has been stealing software from the company, we can't locate him considering he's pretty much off the grid", Nolan added as I glanced over at Avery who was still processing that the man she slept next too was a murderer and it seemed as if there was nothing stopping him. Avery put her head in her mom's chest as Alison smoothed Avery's hair out.

"What does he want, is it money?", a sobbing Avery called out as the waves crashed against the boat as Alison cradled her daughter's head in her chest. She was looking for answers, everyone was, but she was looking for why. Why would he? Why did he stay with her in the first place if he was just going to cheat?

"He wants", his voice faded out as Avery raised her head as she knew that every deal had an ultimatum and this favor would be a strong and confident yes, that needed to be passed.

"What does he want, Nolan?", she said loudly as I knew Nolan had his reasons for wishing he hadn't told her in the first place, because he would do anything to help people, and he was probably scared of how far she would go into this deal.

"He wants... you", his words shook me as I saw Avery's face fade and she seemed numb, her violent and toxic ex wanted her back, or he would kill more. She seemed ready as she took the phone from me and walked away as tears fled down her face, but she kept a calm voice as she proceeded to speak with Nolan in a hushed voice.

"I said no, you're not giving yourself to that low-life", I argued with my sister as she insisted on giving herself to the bad guy as I formulated my plan, to successfully get rid of this potential serial killer without anyone being traded.

"We can pretend, or something p-please let me come back", she begged to me as I could hear her holding back her tears from flowing along her cheek. I would pretend, it was a good idea if it was someone else. Not my sister, she couldn't be risked I had seen many operations where it was a pretend tradeoff and it would become a suicide and a homicide. I couldn't let my sister become a victim.

"I said no, just listen to me. I'll come up with something, I have to go", I said quickly as she hung up the phone and I knew I needed no distractions and I needed my team, ready to act upon. We had all our calls traced from the company to Leah's play telephone. I was ready to take on anything, but I wasn't able to tell Natalie, what was going on, she is a worrier and even now I could sense the worry she carried being away from me.

Hours later had passed and we were waiting by the phone, waiting for a message, waiting for life to take its toll and finally a half quarter to noon and the bleak telephone rang alive and well. My team gave me the go-ahead, signaling it was someone we didn't know through business and the directory that used to hang over mom's desk.

The cool crisp of the air stood silently as everyone stood in their exact spot making no more noise than the hushes of our breathes. My hand moved to the phone after the second ring, not subduing to his games of power and control.

The other line was crisp silent as I waited for his move to formulate mine, all we needed was 3 minutes and his location was all ours. His breathing perched as the line was now silent for 30 seconds and it was all a game to him, an insidious psychopath my words exactly. Our worries and fears were the cure to his hunger, he fed off of watching us suffer, watching us fall apart as the people closest to us were forced into silence. He wanted to hear the worry in my voice, he wanted to hear the desperation in my voice, but his sole objective was to make me worry and fear. He wanted this phone call, I honestly could care less.

"Oh well, its just a telemarketer", He feels undermined, and his skill set is being characterized as something that is lower than his real self. His goal is for me to make sure I know who I am talking too and I was completely right as a voice cut in the other line and I heard the desperation clinging in his voice.

"Wait" a voice spoke like a desperate yell as the phone call finally hit the 1-minute marker, he was making this easier than it had to be. His voice pinged as he waited for a signal that I was still there, he was on the road to getting back his power and control, and this poor man was struggling by the laces of Leah's old tennis shoes

"Oh, are you going to sell me something now, I think I may need a new blender", I casually added as I went on with my cocky facade, waiting for him to grow his anger just a little bit more until he feels as though he needs reassurance.

"No-No, you know who this is, Nolan", He grunted as he went on with supposedly claiming I knew him. His social cues and the anger that stirred in his voice assured me, that I knew exactly what I was doing.

"Yeah I know who you are", I commented as I waited for him to sigh in relief after playing with his mind.

"Finally", he squealed like a little boy, but this man was far from a boy. If only I had seen it before, I could've saved lives and heartbreak.

"You are those telemarketers who steal information from all the lousy websites where my information is, just let them know to remove me from their caller list", I keep the phone pressed against my ear, listening for sounds that may let us know where he is staying. They give me a thumbs down, letting me know he set up a server that only bounced off the different network cable lines, and now his location was diminished. With that sad end to a viable mission. I figured a little small talk wouldn't hurt considering he was so easy to mess with.

"No, it's Cole, your sister's boyfriend", it tanged me that he was still calling her his girlfriend as if he hadn't hurt her in a big way and murdered 2 human beings as if he believed that she would go back to him, though love does make you do stupid things.

"My sister doesn't have a boyfriend currently, though she did have a crazy ex, poor thing", I ranted on and on about my sorrows, when he was the one who had caused them and he knew it with every word I said, he was the reason behind it.

"I'M THE CRAZY EX", he shouted into my ear, getting hurt by the fact that I couldn't remember him and his attempts to destroy my sister and my family.

"Still not ringing any bells", I casually said as his voice rose with anger burning his throat, I could hear how well I agitated him as he slammed something against the wall, hopefully, his own fists.

"WHO DO YOU THINK IS KILLING ALL THESE PEOPLE", he screamed as my ears rang to the voice of the poor boy collecting his pity over a simple detail like my memory.

"Oh that one, I'm sorry just my sister moves on so fast, I swear I do believe that she doesn't care about the guys at all, oh well", I laugh it off knowing that gut feeling is making him want to throw up as he hears she has moved on. The silence carried on as I waited for him to speak his crazy inhibitions.

"Cut the crap, what do you want?", I ask him as now he has the power, but I already had my fun teasing his poor, little broken heart.

"I want 10 million and a plane ride out of this country by this afternoon", he demanded as if I would do what he says. His little mind games never work with me.

"Or what you'll come tee-pee my house?", I joked with him knowing for sure he had something to ask for that big of a demand.

"You really thought I wouldn't notice a broken down van going out of a mansion, you're a fucking billionaire it just doesn't make sense, and now they're on a boat, how dumb do you think I am?", his words shocked me his real prize that was more than the money, the trip to a destination far from here was on that very boat.

"Listen to this I could have your stunning sister and your beautiful wife, at the same time, isn't that brilliant", he laughed at his very own entertainment of playing a game with our lives.

"What do you want", I spoke sternly, I cut the crap, knowing he could easily do damage to the most important people I knew and loved.

"I already told you what I wanted, I want a plane to Aruba and 10 million, meet me at the Private Airline Corp. otherwise know that the deaths of your dearly beloved will be in your selfish hands, and no cops otherwise your wife dies, and one by one until they're all gone. And remember I don't work alone", he ended the call as he left me wishing I hadn't picked up the call in the first place. I slammed down the phone as my team around me jumped and I knew what I needed. Cash and a plane.

"I need 5 million in cash and a plane to Aruba which will meet us at the Private Airline Corp.", I said the demands as everyone went and continued with their jobs, the room was empty as I reached into my cell and I searched for the one thing I needed to hear. I dialed the number, smoothly and calmingly. I wished they had stayed behind, I wished she had stayed behind.

"Hi", her calming voice spoke as I felt relief wash over my body and I just wanted to wrap her up in my arms and feel her hands roam my body.

"Hi baby", I said as I imagined her gushing, with her cheeks a fiery red. I missed her already, and I knew I was on with my day it would just be harder. Just hearing her breath made me feel relaxed as I just listened.

"Any updates?", she asked me as I knew if I had told her what I was doing she would stop me, by swimming over here herself. I told myself that I was protecting the girl that I love and my family. I just wanted to tell her I loved her, before I went, villans always have backup plans.

"No, No not yet, what have you guys been up too?", I asked her calmly as I fiddled with the piece of paper that had a written address, and the note of 10 million, but who could forget that number, definitely hard to forget.

"Well Leah told Tyler she wanted to fish, so he's teaching her, your parents have taken advantage of the bedrooms under the deck, and Avery is sitting with me.", She simplified as I smiled at the simpleness it all was. They just seemed as if a regular family going on a boat ride, if only.

"When can we come home", She asked desperately knowing the answer very well, her words slipped off her lips as I wanted to tell her tonight, but I knew she would ask. This girl doesn't ever learn something new without asking about it, one of the things I love about her.

"Soon, I promise", I wish the promise was affirmative and I was very much sure of it, but that wasn't the case here.

"I miss you a lot", she hushed as I could tell her cheeks were bright red. I missed her like no one tomorrow, I wanted to tell her about the week, I had arranged for us, about our special plans, but I figured it was no use.

"I miss you, too", I spoke softly matching her expressions.

"I have to go, I love you so much", I said hoping to hear it back. Hoping that maybe her calming voice would make this all okay.

"Alright, bye", she simply said as she waited for me to ha+ngup the phone as she stayed silent on the phone listening in as so did I.

"Aren't you going to say it back?", I asked the girl who did everything for a reason, she always had a reason every decision was carefully calculated.

"What do you mean?", She asked subtly as I felt just like Cole on the other end of the line confused, yet intrigued.

"You didn't say I love you back", I asked her as I knew she knew something and I was waiting for her to fill me in on her latest discovery into my life.

"Here's the deal, I'll say it back if you tell me what you know", This girl was a true mastermind and she knew it. I guess she really understood me. I knew what would happen if I told her, she would turn the whole ship around and come back just to stop me from doing this and she was probably right to stop me.

"I don't know anything", I simply said hoping she would buy it, and I guess she did.

"I said no secrets, but I trust and believe you that you are telling the truth and not lying straight to my face, but anyways love you.", she ended the call and I ended the phone feeling like the guiltiest person on earth. I was horrible for lying to her, but I was protecting her. I will always protect Natalie.

"Mr. Clemente", the head of security got my attention as she escorted me to the outside. The security teams assembled outside of the house, along with the police, who were worried about my handle on controlling everything.

"Sir, uh... your wife is insisting on turning the boat around herself and she um. well let's just say please call her", this girl was always on my mind for the right reasons, but now she was just causing trouble, and it wasn't making this easier than it already is. I had just spoken to her and now she was convinced that I was on a suicide mission.

"Yeah. I'll do it", I told her in annoyance, as the officers and my men filled me in that everything was going to be fine, we were going to have some agents hide around the plane and take him down before he could do any real damage.
