《Little Lockwood》1.3 Vampire

"What happend to you?" Matt asked Linkin as he walked to history class.
"Nothing. Dropped a book on my face in bed." He said.
"Sure." Matt said not buying it. Hes seen his fair share punchs to know what it looks like when you get hit. And he's one of the few people to know what Mayor Lockwood is really like.
"It was a really heavy book." He added before stepping into the classroom. Unfortunately most of everyone was already in there, including the one's who just saw him leave Sheila's house unscratched.
...
"As Jeremy's teacher im concerned. It's only the third day of school an he's skipped six of his classes." Tanner said taking a seat on a desk infront of Jenna who was in a chair.
Linkin was at the threshold of the classroom door unnoticed by the two adults. Is he really looking down at her. What an ass.
Jenna leaned forward on her deak with a polite smile. "Mr Tanner.. are you aware that Jeremy and Elena's parents died?" She asked curtly.
"Four months ago, a great loss. Car accident. Wickery Bridge if I remember correctly." He said.
Jenna just nodded. A twinge of grief spiking in her chest.
"And your related to the family how? The uh... mothers kids sister?" He stated with a board tone.
"Youger sister." She polietly corrected.
He just gave her a dismissive nod.
"Six classes? Are you sure?" She questioned akwardly scratching the back of her neck. "I mean thats kind hard to do." She stated starting to fiddle with her hands.
"Not when your on drugs." He said plainly. "It's his attempt at coping Ms. Summer's. And the signs are there." He trailed on.
Jenna just looked quiet frankly dejected an upset.
"Are there any other relatives.. in the picture?" He asked.
Why am i still eavesdropping?
"I'm there sole guardian." She said.
"Uh-huh." He verbalised like it was a bad thing. "Could there be?" He asked bluntly.
Jenna looked about fed up with Tanner. "What are you suggesting, exactly?" She said with an edge to her voice.
"It's an impossible job isn't it. Raising two teens?" He said with a smile. This was Tanners version of a trick question."
Jenna just shook her head an scoffed. "It's been tough, but.. no, it's not." She said with determination.
"Wrong answer." He stated.
Jennas resolve cracked.
"It is an extremely impossible job and anything less and you're not doing it properly." He stated raising his voice.
Linkin scoffed alerting the two he was there as the both faced him. "An you know this how exactly?" Linkin asked genuionly confused. He was really starting to get sick of the men in this town.
"I'm sorry?" He asked with an anoyed look.
"Oh sorry sir." Linkin put on a fake smile. "I was just wondering how you would know that." He repeated.
Jenna sent him a wide eyed look as Tanner scoffed. "Speaking as an adult who teaches students I think I'ed know." He stated as if it was obvious.
"Do you have kids?" Link asked
"No." Tanner said sounding almost disgusted by the idea.
"Brothers or sisters?" Linkin added.
"Why dose that matter." The teacher growled.

"So your saying that your basing you biased opinion on the fact that you spend at max 58 minutes with a kid every other day that you know how to raise them." He said.
"I d-"
"That was rehtorical." Linkin spoke cutting him off. "You don't spend your night helping kids with there homework. Teaching them how to deal with life, with pain, or grief." Tanners face began to go red from frustration. Jenna had a smile on her face that Tanner couldn't see because she was looking at Link. "You sit in here all day and bully us kids to try an teach us a lesson. Your even doing it to her an shes an adult." He gestured to a astounded looking Jenna. "She lost a sister and brother that day, then up and moved back home an took in her sisters kids. Thats something to be praised and admired. A teacher is meant to offer advice to struggling parents and guardians, not make them feel like there doing a terrible job. Because as you clearly admitted you have no experience in the matter." He finished taking in a deep breath.
Why did I just do that?
"Detention Mr Lockwood." Tanner siethed. His voice like a hissing snake.
"Whatever. Also heres my summer papper." He said putting the 5 page document on the table. He gave Jenna a small nod befor heading out into the empty school halls.
Tanner is a dick.
...
Linkin was out the front of the school about to call Bonnie when a car honked infront of him and he jumped. It was Jenna winding down the window of her red Toyota. "Need a ride." She said.
"Are you sure?" He asked.
"Please, it's the least I can after you bit that twots head off for me." She said with a grin an he snorted.
"Then yes please." He said getting around an into the car.
The car ride was quiet for a little bit. Linkin began to think about everything that had happened this morning.
"Are you okay?" Jenna asked breaking the silence, her eyes still on the road. The question caught him off guard.
"Ah.." He started. "Yair..." He added. "No." He gave in an admitted.
"What happend to your lip?" She asked.
The throbbing in his face had been annoying him all day. "Would you believe me if I told you a book." He stated.
She turned long enough to give the kid a deadpanned look and he just sighed.
Jenna hasn't been in town for a while but from what she could remember was Linkin always had a bruise, cut or bumb on him. His parents had always said he was clumsy and only a few knew better. Jenna herself didn't start to realise until this moment they were having in the car.
To her Linkin was always the quiet kid out of her niece and nephews friends. He'd just play with Jeremy in his room and talk to her sister Miranda if he needed something. He was always a polite kid just really introverted. Thats why it took her aback when he came out of nowhere sassing a teacher.
"Why don't you come back to the house. I'm getting some nachos, my treat." She said.
"Oh no, I couldn't." He said trying to back out.

"Nonsense, it's my thank you for pulling the stick out that guys ass." She chimed and they both laughed.
"Your a good one Jenna."
...
"Hey Jeremy." Linkin said waving at the now confused boy who entered room.
"Link? What are you doing here?"
"The food." He said earning a elbow in the side from Jenna.
"I picked him up with dinner dinner. Nachos and Tacos. Had an urge for quacamole." She said dipping her finger in to the green bowl tasting it.
"No im good thanks." He said.
"Eat anyway." She chimed.
He just look a little anoyed.
"It's a ruse. She wants to talk." Linkin spoke up. Jeremy just looked between them before turning and walking to the back door.
"Hey you! Come." She yelled after him angrily pointing to a stoll at the kitchen island. He turned back. "Sit now." She ordered. With a grumpy face he took a seat. Its safe to say Linkin never eants to be on the other end of that Jenna gaze.
Jenna began her talk with Jeremy about how she used to get stoned back in school. But when she got to the part about drugs not working Jeremy up an went out the door while her head was in the fridge.
"And he's gone." Linkin informed her. She poked her head out with an annoyed look and closed the fridge.
"What am I doing wrong?" She sighed looking at the bench.
"It's nothing you've done Jenna." She looked up at him with water eyes. "He just going through alot and still processing. You all are." He said.
...
For the first time in a week Linkin was in his room at the Lockwood manor. It wasn't anything fancy, just the same paint as the resi the house with a basic doubble bed and two side tables.
Linkin was just sitting on his bed. He couldn't take his eyes off of his hands remebering the orange glow. How whatever he was doing made Shelia collapse.
"Why would i do that. How did I do that." He wispered out. Water already collecting in the bottom of his eyes.
"Do what?" Came the voice of his father Richard Lockwood. Linkin took in a breath as he raised his head to see his dad in the doorway, arms crossed. He was wearing a suit and blazer like always, displaying his impotence in appearance. Something Linkin himself never cared much more.
"Nothin Sir. Just running behind on homework." He said.
"There's no need to cry over it." His dad scoffed. "Dinners ready. I expect you at the table.
"Yes Sir." He repeated. His dad just nodded dismissively turning out of the room.
He let out a deep breath he didn't know he was holding. Not wanting to risk angering his dad he wiped his eyes befor changing.
...
"Gracias, dile a Rohan que estuvo bien." Linkin said to Reeta the maid, asking to pass his thanks to Rohan for the good meal.
Reeta smiling, nodded with thanks.
No offence to grams but nothing beats Rohans patatas bravas.
"Show off." Tyler growled from across the table.
"What was that Tyler honey." Carol spoke. Her voice as sweet as honey.
"Nothing." He said.
"Have you heard any more about Viki Donovan?" Dad asked.
"What happend to her?" Linkin asked.
"The party at the falls. She was attacked by an animal. Bit her on the neck. She had lost alot of blood." Tyler said taking a sip from his glass.
Linkin didn't miss the way his dad and Carol looked at eachother. Like they new something. "Sorry to hear that." He offered. Linkin never really talk to Matts older sister, even when she started dating his brother. He didn't like her very much though for introducing drugs to Jeremy. He knew to that she kept bouncing between Tyler and Jer and hate how they started hating eachother because of it.
"May I be excused please?" Linkin asked.
Carol an Dad looked between eachother. "Sure son." Dad said.
He nodded curtly before getting out of there before something went bad like normal.
He went to his bathroom and removed his bandaged to see the wound completely healed. He had just removed the stiches after looking completely in awe at it.
...
"Hello?" Linkin called nervously into Sheilas house. He got a message asking to meet her before he left for the candel lighting ceremony. Stefan offered to give him a ride.
"Kitchen." Her voice called. He slowly walked in to see the elder at the head of the dinning table. She had a old leather bound book infront of her. "Sit." She said. Not one to argue with the woman he took a seat next to her side.
"I'm sorry Grams." He said eyes starting to well. He was worried she would hate him like his parents or worse, turn him away.
Sheila just smiled putting her hand out ontop of his for comfort but he pulled away before there skin could touch. "It's all right child. You didn't mean it." She cooed.
"I don't even really know what happend." He admitted. He was up all night trying to figure it out in his head. But then he would derail and his brain would turn to Drake. Then what happened yesterday with Stefan.
"Stefan tried to do this wierd eye thing on me after and he put something in my tea that healed me." He said exasperated.
"Hush now child. Your worrying is gonna make me faint again." Sheila joked. But upon seeing the now serious face on the little Lockwood she just chuckled. "Too soon?" She asked and he sent her a "really" look wiping away some stray tears.
"I'm very aware of Stefan." She said.
"What is he? He can't be human right?" He asked the elder.
"Why don't you ask him." She said confusing Linkin. Sheila just sighed. "You can come Mr Salvatore." She said.
Linkins eyes trailed to a akward looking Stefan who just got caught eavesdropping.
"Tell me what?" He asked looking between the two. Sheila motivationed for the Salvatore to speak.
"I'm a vampire."

Hopefully, I do a good job in that aspect. **I hope you enjoy this book of mine.**
