When dusk arrived, Amyrah woke up with a start. She did not know why she woke up that way, she just did.
Perhaps it was a bad dream, her conscious remarked.
She sighed and rubbed her head, pushing off the messy strands of tangled hair off her face.
When did she end up on the bed anyway?
"Amyrah?"
She looked up to see Kayan smiled at her.
"You look..... Like an animal zoo." He stated before chuckling while she growled at him.
"Animals are in the zoo. That's called redundancy" she stated and he held his hands up in surrender.
"Yes little miss Grammar perfectionist" he said and she rolled her eyes before trying to remove the tangles of her hair. Unsuccessfully.
"Put on some oil and comb it. It will be untangled easily" he said and she nodded, before getting up and walking to the bathroom.
Halfway into the small living room, she realised she did not know the way to the bathroom.
"Left" Kayan's voice whispered in her ear, causing chills to run down her spine. It was not the bad kind of chills, perhaps the good kind.
She slapped his head playfully before walking away.
Kayan set outside the house, his legs dangling in the waters. It was a cool afternoon, with the sun setting in the horizon and the winds lightly blowing past his face. Magrib would be soon, he had reminded himself.
"Hey"
Amyrah set down beside him on the wooden pier, smiling at him.
"Hello" he replied, offering her his cup of coffee.
She took it and drank it before returning it to him.
"What are you thinking?" She questioned him, pushing her hair band away from her face.

He tilted his head and smiled at her. The afternoon sun made her face glow bright and her dark brown hair shone bright red in the sun. She was indeed beautiful.
"Hey! What is it?" She asked him, shifting from side to side restlessly.
Kayan gave her another smile. A small one.
"Thinking about how the sun makes you look beautiful" he replied honestly and he saw faint pink tinting her cheeks.
"Cheesy" she scoffed pushing his shoulder away and he smiled yet again at her.
"Amyrah" he said and he turned to him.
"Yeah" she replied, splashing her legs into the water below them.
"I love you"
Silence.
Amyrah knew Kayan liked her. She knew he liked her alot. Perhaps more than alot. But confessing straight up to her face was another matter. And she had no idea how to reply to it. No words formed in her head, it was like she was searching for words but her mind said 'sorry your vocabulary is empty'
She saw him flinch slightly. She saw the hesitance in his body language. She saw the hurt in his eyes. But she did not see regret.
After several seconds, he spoke.
"I-we- its- argh- I did not- well- I- well shit" he muttered the latter to himself looking away.
Amyrah could not help but smile.
She lightly placed her hand on his cheeks and turned him to face her. She hoped silently that this would work. And if it didn't, it would be utter embarrassment.
She held both his cheeks with her hands and smiled lovingly at him.
She blinked before letting out a deep breath and leaning into him. Without notice, he leaned in and kissed her. His lips warm to her cold ones, her hands automatically around his neck and his hands cradling her face as if she were something precious.

He finally let her go, placing his forehead on hers with a wide grin. Amyrah kept her eyes closed for she was too shy to even look at him. She was never the shy one, but then again, she was never kissed so that was an exception.
Perhaps she will get accustomed to his affections. she told herself.
Kayan simply smiled at his shy wife. He felt joyous. He felt ecstatic. He felt alot more. He felt like his heart could burst with happiness. Like nothing in the world mattered at that moment. Only Amyrah Kayan Zaeef did.

After Isha, Amyrah was famished. The family had to gather for dinner at the restaurant downstairs but she was too lazy to even do so. She desperately missed home and she simply wanted things to end so she could return.
She stood in front of her open suitcase, trying to pick out something to change into.
Kayan saw her in distress and chuckled, before he walked towards where she stood.
He knelt down and began rummaging through the suitcase while Amyrah patiently waited for him to finish his antics before she could finally scold him. Kayan gave her a grin throwing a dress at her. It was a simple long floral mint dress.
"Get ready. We leave in 10 minutes" said Kayan before walking out of the bedroom to the small living room.
Amyrah smiled and closed the door before walking to the bed where her clothes lay. She tied her hair in a messy bun and pulled her tees off.
Just when she bent to pick up her dress, the bedroom door opened.
Kayan searched the entire living room for the TV remote but he could not find it. Last he remembered was that Amyrah had it.
He sighed deeply before walking towards the bedroom, opening the door.
"Amyrah where did you-"
'AAAAHHH!" she screeched and he flinched, looking up to her.
"Jeez I am sorry-" he said, looking away, out of the door.
"Get out Kayan!" she muttered to him, as he heard the rustling of her dress.
"Sorry, I simply wanted to know where the TV remote was! I did not realize you would be changing here" he said, rubbing his reddened face. He stood by the door, trying his hardest not to turn to his wife.
"You can turn now"
He turned to her and sighed.
"I am sorry that I entere-"
"Its alright. Its my fault......... for......not locking........uhm.. the door" she said, taking her long hijab in her hands.
"Remote?" he questioned her, rubbing his neck and she shrugged, walking to the dresser.
"The TV rack maybe"
"Thanks"
with that he walked towards the door. He halted at the door and smiled before turning his head towards her.
"Blue suits you" with a wink he was out leaving Amyrah utterly speechless.

The Hazards of Skinny Dipping
This isn't a deep book about first loves or self-discovery. If you want a book like that, I'd be happy to recommend one, but I don't have that kind of story to tell. Instead my story is about rash decisions and finding out that your dream guy is bad in bed. It's the story of when I finally went skinny dipping, and how my life was never the same again. Oh, and it's also the story of my freshman year of college and realizing Mr. Right might have been there all along.
