Chapter 43: Wedding (2)

*

"Somewhere else, I'll see you

Our days be like a blossom

Blooming all around you

When people spoke about weddings, they usually spoke of the great deals that occured at the wedding. Mostly who was wearing what, who was doing what and so on.

But for this wedding, the most Hot Reviewed topic was Amyrah and Kayan.

The henna night was organised well, with only the ladies allowed. Everyone got their hands colored in the beautiful designs while the little girls danced and laughed around. The youths were all at one side, getting henna done while the old ladies had their own talks. All girls wore a green simple sari while Aaiyla wore a royal blue sari.

Amongst the youth, set Kulthum beside Amyrah and her sisters. Since no one knew her, she merely listened to what they had to say. Some were gossiping, others joking and some very silent, like her. One gossip in particular caught her attention at a distance. Amyrah Saleh got married.

It was no new news that Amyrah was one of the most envied girl of the family. She had managed to break through alot of barriers to make herself successful. Some loved her and looked up to her while others disliked her and envied her.

"Well, she did leave her family to pursue advertising" stated one of the girls, looking over to them.

"She got everything. This is so not fair. I mean if it had been one of us, grandma would have already pushed us out of the house! But no, when its Amyrah, its okay!" snapped one of the girls causing Kulthum to turn to Amyrah. The duo shared a look and chuckled.

"Its okay, they usually do that." said Aaiyla from beside Amyrah and Kulthum nodded in understanding.

"But KAYAN ZAEEF!" That was loud. The girls turned their heads to the small group of cousins who smiled around sheepishly. When one of them caught Amyrah's eyes, she raised one of her eyebrows.

What ya'all talking about my man?

It was simple communication really.

She smiled sheepishly and turned to the girls.

"Not so loud!" she whispered but Amyrah heard it alright.

"But Kayan Zaeef!" one of them said and the rest nodded.

"Kayan Zaeef. She managed to marry the richest and hottest bachelor of Australia! Last year he won the best CEO, Internationally! He was featured on Vogue, for gods sake!" one of the replied.

"Ah I read that copy. Something about his empire. His family is never featured anywhere though." one of them said.

"I heard they are 6 siblings and only one sister"

"Huh, some lucky sister she must be"

And gossip continued on and on until the end of henna night. Amyrah desperately wanted to tell them off but she couldn't. Her mother had specifically told her to not 'Create a scene'. Even thought Amyrah did not understand why Protecting what was her's would create a scene. But either way, she set mum.

The night ended beautifully and Amyrah was to stay with Aaiyla to prepare her for the wedding poseesion the following day. Kayan was not okay with this for he knew he would miss his wife alot but it had to be done.

The following morning, the wedding procession entered the gates at around 11am and people laughed, talked and mingled. Everyone was wearing their best attires and one was showing off to the other.

The bridesmaids were all dressed in one suit with the same colors while the bride stood out with her maroon Lahenga.

Amyrah was hastily wearing her bangles when her phone rang. With both her hands busy, she asked Urwa to pick it up. Urwa picked it up and held it at her ear.

"As salaam alaikum" she heard Kayan's voice and smiled.

"Wa alaikum mus salaam."

"Are you ready yet?" he questioned and she smiled slightly, pushing in more peach and golden mix bangles into her hands.

"No, why?" she questioned.

"Because we are 10 minutes away from the house" he stated and this arose panick in Amyrah.

"WHAT?!" she screamed, startling Urwa and causing her phone to fall.

"What happened?!" questioned Samran, entering the room.

Amyrah smiled sheepishly at her.

"Are you all ready?" she questioned her and Samran slumped her shoulders and let out a sigh of relief.

"We are all ready. Everything is done save for you! You, my lady, are taking too much time" she said and Amyrah chuckled.

"The Baaraat is 10 minutes away" said Amyrah, putting on more bangles, this time on the other hand.

"Ah. No wander you screamed so loud" laughed Samran and Amyrah blushed slightly.

"Where is your ring?" she questioned, looking at her empty left hand.

Amyrah smiled.

"Its not here yet" she replied and Samran simply nodded.

"Get ready. Hurry up" she said and walked out.

Amyrah simply smiled and continued putting on her bangles. Urwa had excused herself to go see what was going on outside. Amyrah was late because she was busy with Aaiyla, getting her set for the entire thing. The other sisters simply took turns to get ready and return to Aaiyla while Amyrah was the last.

Finally she was done. She checked the clock on the wall and it read 11:07am. Amyrah stood up, pulling up her long dress in her hands and walked towards her bed. She bent down and took the shoes that set by the suitcase. It was a pretty peach high heels with white pearls studded at the front. She then walked to the doors and placed her shoes down on the wooden floors before walking back to the mirror to do a final check. Thats when Urwa burst into her room.

"THEY ARE HERE!!!" she squealed and the giggled when Amyrah glared at her.

This girl will never change.

"And?" questioned Amyrah, raising her eyebrows as she did final adjustments to her hijab.

"And.......well......... I was simply telling you. Now I am out" she stated before marching away, banging the door behind her. No one would really care that there was a loud bang, really.

Amyrah smiled to herself as she picked up a peach lipstick and placed it in her small purse.

She felt excited that Kayan was finally here. But she felt sad that Aaiyla was leaving them. But it would make no sense since she was leaving with Aaiyla.

Kayan walked behind his mother and father as Aaiyla's entire family greeted the groom's side. They kissed his forehead and asked him to enter. The people present were simply shocked as to why the family kissed Kayan's forehead and not the other boys.

Kayan and the boys followed their father and Ehaan's father with Ehaan to the men's side of the open back yard. The two sides, Kayan noticed, were separated by woven coconut leaves, about a meter or two high.

After several minutes or so, Ehaan was welcomed to the main stage where Aaiyla set and Kayan was to go with him for he was the oldest.

Ehaan walked up to where Aaiyla was seated and Kayan waited at the edge of the lifted pavement, scanning the crowd of families surrounding the place. His eyes searched for his beauty.

And when he finally found her, he felt speechless. In fact, he felt more than speechless. He felt excited and enthusiastic and happy. His wife was here.

There stood Amyrah, in the middle of her sisters, laughing about something. All sisters were dressed the same and it was hard to identify which one was who. Out of no where, Amyrah started to look around and he waited until her eyes landed on him. He gave her one of his smiles and she returned it with as much excitement. She whispered something to her sisters, smirked in his direction and walked away somewhere, leaving Kayan confused.

Kayan did not see her until the bride was ready to leave. Since Amyrah was going with her, Kayan was certain she would show up.

Aaiyla hugged everyone, shedding tears on the way and finally hugged Amyrah, shedding a few more tears until she began laughing. Everyone was confused as to why the two sisters were laughing in between tears but the other sisters knew why so, and they smiled. Finally Aaiyla had a group hug with all the sisters and broke off, with all of them laughing.

"First wedding where the bride cried as well as laughed before leaving" stated Kayan and the others laughed, agreeing to it.

Kayan was the driver while Amyrah took the front seat and the bride and groom, i.e. Aaiyla and Ehaan took the back seat. Once out of the mansion compund, Amyrah began fidgeting.

"What is it?" questioned Kayan, glancing over at Amyrah. Amyrah gave him a sheepish smile.

"My clothes are itchy" she muttered, fidgeting in her seat again. This caused a laugh from Aaiyla.

"I am the bride, Myrah! And you are the one who's uncomfortable" she retorted and Amyrah sighed.

"I am not used to it" she whined. Kayan shook his head.

"You brought your change?" he questioned, slowing down the Land Rover.

"Yes, why?" she asked, scratching her bangle clad hands. It must have been the material of the dress she wore.

"I am stopping at the house. You can change and then we will leave" he said and Amyrah grinned at him.

"Thank you!" she grinned and happily waited, with a few more scratching, until they were at Ehaan's mansion. Ehaan asked Aaiyla to change too since the ride was long from here.

The two girls took their clothes and changed in one of the rooms. Aaiyla changed out of the heavy Lahenga into a long Anarkali that was simple and was cotton while Amyrah simply wore a bohemian long dress. The two girls wore their hijabs before walking out of the house to where the boys were waiting. Ehaan was now wearing a suit rather than a Sherwani and Kayan was still in his attire.

"Get in, we will be late!" called out Kayan from the land Rover, taking off his suit jacket and rolling up his sleeves.

"Alright" muttered Amyrah getting in and putting on her seatbelt. She switched on the radio and played some music from her phone until she found the right one.

"I've been staring at the water, for as long as I can remember, never really knowing why!" Amyrah began singing and Kayan flinched.

"This is going to be a long ride" he heard Aaiyla mutter.

By the time they reached the resort, Amyrah was already asleep and it was only 3pm. They were lucky to have caught Zuhr prayer at the mosque during the wedding. Kayan pushed Amyrah and poked her until Aaiyla screamed in her ears and woke her up.

"Goodness, sometimes I feel like she is the bride and I am the bridesmaid!" muttered Aaiyla, as Ehaan helped her out of the car. Ehaan's family waited at the entrance of the hallways to greet the couple.

People threw roses at the duo, some yelled and others hooted. It was somewhat a small welcoming ceremony. Soon after, people began dispersing and Kayan dragged Amyrah towards their small house at the end of the pavement, surrounded by the waters.

As soon as Amyrah entered the place, she crashed onto the couch and simply closed her eyes.

Kayan smiled at her. She was pretty indeed.

It made Kayan think. How would their future children look like?
