Chapter 23: Hurried Plans.

There was a change of plans. A very big change of plans that is.

The Zaeef grandmother landed in Fiji with a bang and the entrance went something like this.

"A Black SUV entered the bungalow compound followed by a group of people with drums and dhols, yelling at their loudest voices. Leading them was a woman and man of their late 60's but looked as young as to be in their 50's. The Zaeef grandmother and grandfather.

They sang the happy wedding songs at their loudest and danced their way in, Karmaan was amongst them but Kayan was filming the entire thing. It was a grand entrance.

The first thing they asked for before even water was to meet Ehaan and Aaiyla. And when they did, they realized the two did not even have wedding bands in their fingers yet and bammmmmm, the engagement party was announced. That too, it was four days from that day. It was not that the family did not have anything ready for the engagement but it was just that they were taking it slow because the engagement was meant to happen a week before the marriage. Except the Zaeef grandparents did not agree.

So everything was hectic, the friends were messaged on every social media group, those unreachable were called and informed. Basically it was all done in a rush.

And then came the love story of Kayan and Amyrah, Kayrah. Amongst the hectic schedule of the engagement, the two could not even have a decent conversation!

And then came the most epic day of the Ehaan and Aaiyla engagement."

The whole house was turned upside down as people run about doing things or yelling orders.

Ehaan was a nervous wreck but Aaiyla was excited. Ironical.

"Dude, calm the hell down! Its not like you are marrying her for the first time!" said Sahl and Ehaan, Yazdan and Kayan turned to him. Karmaan was out with Safwah getting something.

"What do you mean 'not the first time'?" questioned Ehaan, getting more nervous.

When Sahl realized what he said, he sighed.

"Thats-I-what? I meant you are already married! This is just a formality of our families!" explained Sahl and the boys nodded.

Kayan smiled at Ehaan.

"Dude, relax. If anything happens, we all are there and so is Aaiyla" said Kayan, patting his back and Ehaan nodded. Yaz handed him a piece of chewing gum.

"Boys, we have to go" Safwah told them as he gave Ehaan his tie.

"Lets go lets go!!" called out Karmaan.

"Wait, a photo please!" Ehaan's parents entered the room and smiled at their son.

"Hes so grown up!"

"Thats what you said on their Nikah day"

"Wallahi, get together boys! I need a perfect picture"

The boys huddled together and gave their best smiles.

"Alright"

Aaiyla smiled at her sisters and turned to the mirror.

"Wow"

"I know" winked Amyrah.

The makeup and hair artist had done a very good job. Well save for the hair part for she was wearing a hijab.

"Ladies, Its time"

Aaiyla smiled and stood up. She was wearing a long gown, more like a fairy dress that was flared from the hip down. It was marvelous how the magenta gown could compliment her beauty almost perfectly.

Amyrah however, wore a lighter shade of peach sari like the other girls.

Her hijab was done almost perfectly, so was her minimum makeup.

"Lets go!"

The girls walked out of the room and down the stairs to greet the entire family.

Some more photo's were taken before Aaiyla and her parents went in one car and the girls in another, Amyrah being the driver. The rest, well they were history.

The drive to the hall was 15 minutes away for it was an open plain wedding, rather than a hall one.

Some random music played as the girls drove on.

"We look good!" winked Kulthum and the rest agreed. "-And someone is so going to fall head over heels for you"

The latter was almost a whisper that no one caught it, even Amyrah.

The engagement was set in an open plain, with tables set all over the grounds and pillars decorated with flowers standing high and mighty. The walkway for the couple was decorated with even more flowers with the colors of magenta and white. The plain green grass complemented the look.

People talked and laughed, greeted the families they have not seen in a long time and some even started to look for their own children's spouse. Typical Indian wedding, one would say. Except it was not.

Because amongst these people, was Kayan, smiling and making small talks and all the while, keeping an eye at the entrance for his woman.

Finally, the girls arrived, Aaiyla looked beautiful as usual and it was no surprise when Ehaan went all the way to the entrance to walk her up to the main platform. The other cousins followed, Kayan recognized his own sister, Urwa, Ruha and Raha but there was no Amyrah.

He took out his phone to message her when his grandfather called him over. He let out a sigh and walked to his dad.

"-This is my oldest grandson!" Introduced his grandfather, patting his back.

Kayan smiled at the unknown people.

"he is the one who handles all my business"

"Masha Allah. Is he married?" one of them asked and Kayan's eyes almost popped out of his head.

"No, not yet!" laughed his grandfather.

"I have a girl in mind, if you don't mind that is" the man said and Kayan wanted to strangle him.

He desperately searched around for Amyrah and when he saw her. And when he did, he felt the air being knocked right out of his lungs.

There stood Amyrah, desperately trying to hold back her sari from flying, and trying to walk at the same time. The peach color complemented her skin tone, that was growing a shade of light pink with the sun rays. Her smile was evident when a little kid helped her with the sari. She bent down to her height and gave her a small kiss and some chocolate. All the while, Kayan stared at her in awe. As if all that mattered in this world were her. Everything went around her.

Except it did not and he needed to face that.

Amongst the people mingling about was Omar Quraishi. Black haired, amazing smile and a built body. Almost perfect. Almost. Omar is a doctor by profession and is into medical research. Which is one of the major reasons why he is attending this wedding.

"Hello Mr. Quraishi" Mr. Zaeef, grandpa Zaeef, said, smiling at him.

The man, almost the same age as Kayan, but a little older, smiled at him.

"As salamu alaikum Mr. Zaeef" he smiled.

"Wa alaikum mus salaam, Doctor! How are you?"

Kayan stared at the man before returning his gaze to his lady love. Only he could not find her.

"Well doctor, this is my grandson, Kayan-" said Grandpa Zaeef, putting his hands on Kayan's shoulders. Kayan turned his attention to his grandfather and then the man infront of him.

"As salamu alaikum" He smiled.

"Was salaam, Mr. Kayan. I heard alot about you" commented Omar.

"Good things I hope"

Omar chuckled lowly.

"Of course"

Rule one in Business: Always, ALWAYS keep the potential business partners happy. At any cost.

Omar smiled to himself.

He has to get into the system.

The couple exchanged rings and everyone clapped.

Amyrah was happy for them. She really was. She could only dream of such an amazing wedding.

"You will have your destination wedding, I promise you that. In sha Allah"

Amyrah did not know whether to cry or laugh over the message of Kayan but she decided to do neither.

"Why are you smiling to yourself?" Urwa peeped into her phone but she hid it away in her sari. Indeed Sari's did come handful at times.

"Lets go" she laughed and pushed Urwa to go to Aaiyla.

As they walked, Samran and Urwa noticed something. A handsome young lad kept glancing at Amyrah with a distinctive glint in his eyes. The sisters did not know the young lad but they knew he was from a good family, by observing him for almost the entire afternoon.

Finally, just before the end dua and food, Urwa told Amyrah about him.

"He's looking at you" she teased Amyrah and Amyrah laughed. She knew there was nothing of that sort.

Except she was wrong.

"Oh Allah" she muttered to herself when his mother made its way towards her. Thankfully, someone cut her path and Amyrah took this chance to make an escape.

If its not Kayan, its not anyone else.
