Chapter 11- HIM
AMYRAH
When Mrs. Zaeef told me the story of her and her husband, i realized that only the most fated ones get those.
"Amyrah!" called out Kulthum and I snapped out of my reverie.
"Yeah?" I replied to her, looking over to where she was standing in her oldest brothers kitchen.
"Help me please" she gave me those puppy dog faces and I chuckled before heading to her.
Dinner went at peace but there sure was alot of chatters. Its like the Zaeef siblings were never fed for ages. They literally fight for the last piece of cucumber!
Now I was in the kitchen with Kulthum, helping her with the desserts.
"You take this tray, I'll take the other one" she said and I nodded, taking the tray with 4 huge bowls of ice cream and one huge cup of shake.
We walked out of the kitchen to the living room.
"Desserts!" yelled the twins grinning like chestire cats.
"And shake" grinned twin 1- as I was informed, Sahl.
"Which is not for you" stated Kayan, not looking up from his phone.
Sahl pouted and I chuckled
"Alright man, alright" muttered Sahl and slumped back on the couch, munching away some chips, I assume.
"Why do you eat so much? Give me some" Muttered Yazdan, snatching away the bag from Sahl and Safwah
The TV was on, some movie was playing and the twins, Karman and Aunty were watching while Yazdan and Kayan were on their phones and uncle was somewhere dealing with something.
"Thank you" said Karman taking the bowl of ice cream and putting chocolate chips in it from the packet.
"Jazak Allah khair" said aunty smiling at me and i turned to the twins who had grabbed theirs from Kulthum.
"Here" I gave one to Yazdan who happily took it and then moved to Mr. Kayan, himself.
He looked up from his phone and gave me a sweet smile that could have any girl melting to puddles.
Keyword: Any girl
not me.
He took the shakes and gave me another of his smiles.

"Take a seat and eat, will you?" he asked me and i nodded.
uncle returned and I gave him his dessert before I took mine and got seated on the floor with Kulthum and the twins.
"I hope you don't mind a little Korean Drama" said aunty and my head snapped to her
"O-Of course not"
Inside I was dying with joy.
Korean Drama fan!!!
"Alright then, boys dim the lights please"
The lights dimmed and the TV went on.
"What drama is it?" I questioned.
"Strong Woman Do Bong-Soon" replied one of the twins, the light made it hard to differentiate.
"Ahh-" I muttered and settled on the floor as the first episode began rolling.
The whole of Zaeef family watched the drama with intensity like anything can happen anytime.
Wallahi!
I think i found myelf a whole clan of KDrama freaks!
I got up to get water from the kitchen where i ran into Kayan himself, leisurely standing there like a model and staring at the sky out the kitchen window
"You don't understand Korean? Or you don't like Korean Dramas?" he asked me without looking at me
How did he-
"I caught a whiff of your scent" he replied, smiling slightly
He turned and leaned against the sink bench, giving me a skeptical look.
"You know whats the best part about courting a lady?" he asked me.
I shook my head.
"Its something to do with the fact that you begin to notice everything about them. I have known you for almost a month or so now, and yet, i feel like i know you for years" he said.
I shrugged.
"You would not understand" He replied, chuckling slightly.
"Alright then, I guess you should head home" He added and I nodded
"Come on, I will drop you" He said and I gave him an incredulous look.
"You do know that I live next door, right?" I asked him and he nodded, giving me an innocent smile.
"In case" He said and I sighed.
This guy.
"Say Allah Hafiz to them" He nodded to his family.

I walked to them and bid them 'Allah Hafiz' before walked out of the door.
He walked out behind me and stood there, smiling like a maniac until i was safely inside my own penthouse.
Once inside, I sighed and walked to my bedroom.
I changed into my sleeping PJ'S before I jumped into the bed.
I tried to sleep but something unusual happened.
I was unable to sleep. That was not unusual, unusual was the fact that the person keeping me awake was none other than Kayan Zaeef.
Why was I thinking about him?
I guess it has something to do with his courtship.
I lay on my sides and closed my eyes.
Yet no sleep.
After several minutes, I let out a frustrated groan and set on my bed.
My phone beeped and I checked it to be Kayan's message.
'Goodnight My Lady. Allah Hafiz'
I smiled unintentionally at the message.
Who knew Kayan Zaeef could be so sweet?
I shut my phone off and decided to sleep.
The following morning, I got a home delivered, homemade breakfast from Qaidah Aunty.
It was some paratha, mashed egg and potato and kheer
I had my breakfast, went over to her place and thanked her for it.
I did not see Kayan for the rest of the day, except of his bouquet of flowers and chocolates I received midday today.
That afternoon, Qaidah aunty invited me over for dinner but I had to decline because I had a dinner meeting with Caleb, the Apple. Inc guy over the deal we were currently working on.
Three days passed and I met Kayan occassionally.
He would send me small gifts, take me to some cheesy ice cream shop and one time, he actually took me shopping with his sister.
Except she did the buying, Kayan and I just strolled around with her.
No one knew what Kayan was doing, and I was glad for it.
I did not want to give them hope for anything and ending up with nothing at the end.
Above all, the tiny thought in my mind still nagged me.
He is to return to Australia soon
What will I do then?
I looked out of my room window and stared at the beauty of the sun's rays.
Everything suddenly seemed much happier.
Much cheerful.
"Ya Allah, what is wrong with me?!" I muttered to myself as I got off the window pane.
The weather was becoming warmer as we were exiting April but with May, things would be different.
Which reminded me that I was supposed to be in Fiji for May due to the prep of Aiyla's wedding!
And my meeting with the Ryoul foundation over my project proposal.
The weather was turning warmer and I was happy.
But it still went cold at times.
My phone cut me out of my trance again.
I picked up Kayan's call.
"Salaam, wasssuupppp?" he dragged the word 'Whats up'.
"Was salaam. Nothing. What happened?" I replied, sitting on my bed again.
"Nothing. I was just missing you" He said seriously and I felt myself heat.
Missing me?
"Ahh...... *coughs awkwardly*....ummm" I spluttered like a stupid human.
He laughed.
He literally laughed.
And then he finally sobered up.
"Guess you don't know how to react to that" He replied and I sighed, rubbing my forehead.
I guess I don't.
"Why did you call?" I instead ask him.
"Because I missed you!" He said it in an obvious manner causing my face to heat up again.
Why was he teasing me?
"Alright, Its just early morning! You should probably go run or something so I won't keep you from it" I said twirling my loose and messy hair strand.
"Oh no no, I am perfectly fine. If you are sending me away, Its alright. I have nothing to do today" He replied and I sighed again.
"So whats your favorite color? No wait, don't answer that. I know its black and preferrably, dark colors." He answered it himself and I chuckled lowly.
"Whats yours then?" I asked him.
"Its black and white and blue" He replied and I nodded, even though he cannot see me.
"favorite food?"
"ANYTHING!" he yelled out loud and I went silent.
When it registered, I began my laughter.
It felt so good to have someone else who would eat anything halal!
As long as its food!
"Anything that is halal though" He added later on when I had sobered up. "-Whats yours?"
"Same"
And that was how we spent the entire morning talking.
Maybe, just maybe, I can go with this for now?
