Chapter Forty-Nine

Kira Knows the New Girl?

Some days, I really don't like my brother and Scott. And I don't know if it's the hormones or the fact that they're just really good at pissing me off-- it's probably the hormones. This morning I'm pissed off because I only got five and a half hours of sleep last night. And it wasn't even good quality sleep. Janie kept kicking me all night and it was irritating.

I now was brushing my hair while Scott debriefed me on what happened in Mexico with Derek, who's now a child. Apparently they went to a club, where Scott ended up getting electrocuted by Kira-- because of this hunter family called the Calavera's, then they found out that Kate is alive and was turned when Peter killed her with his claws, and finally Scott almost got killed by a big guy wearing a barbarian suit.

What have I gathered from this? Well, it's pretty obvious that my boyfriend/father of my two babies has little to no care for the safety of himself. Which is incredibly unfair towards me! I get shit every single day about how I'm not being careful enough, I shouldn't be lifting things, I need to stay safe and away from the supernatural. But, here he is, putting his life on the line!

My eyes narrowed at my boyfriend and I pointed the brush in his direction. "You can't do that." I stated simply, which made him frown with this confused puppy dog look on his face. "Can't do what?"

I rolled my eyes, turning toward the bathroom to put the hairbrush away and grab my coconut oil. "You can't expect me to lock myself in a padded room so I'm completely safe while you go and get yourself killed. That's not fair, Scott."

I walked back into the room to look Scott in the eyes, my shirt was pulled over my bump while I rubbed the bit of oil over my stretching skin. Luckily I only had a handful of stretchmarks and they were all on my hips, not really my stomach yet. I did have a dark line running down the center of my stomach, though.

Scott was standing by the bed, half way through with packing my school bag for me. "I'm pregnant. We're going to have two babies in like..." I did a quick mental calculation while putting my shirt back down, "twelve weeks. You can't be careless and get yourself killed-- in turn leaving me alone to raise two kids. That's not fair. To me or your babies."

My arms were now crossed over my chest as I gauged his reaction. Scott wasn't mad, he seemed almost, understanding. He set my, now packed, bag on the bed beside his own and walked over until he was standing in front of me.

Scott put his hands on either side of my head, making me look up at him as he spoke. "I'm sorry. I'll be more careful, I promise." He placed a kiss to my lips, soft and lingering. I smiled up at him slightly, "thank you."

Once we got to the school, I immediately broke off from Scott and Stiles and went to find Malia. She was having a rough time at school and I offered to help her with History before class. I found her in front of the school, standing by the gym.

She looked cute in her maroon leather jacket and her blonde-brown hair done in curls. I gave her a smile, waving to get her attention, "Malia, hey." Her brown eyes were on me in an instant and her confused look was exchanged for a frown.

Malia walked over to me, handing me something wrapped in a napkin and then took my bag off my shoulder. I frowned, why did she always have to take my bag? I felt bad for everyone carrying my books everywhere. I swear, as soon as I'm not pregnant, I'm going to be carrying her bag everywhere as thanks for all her kindness. "You shouldn't be carrying that. I brought you a doughnut," she motioned to the napkin.

I instantly smiled, unwrapping it to reveal a delicious looking chocolate doughnut. I licked my lips while smiling at Malia, "have I ever said how much I love you?" I asked while we began walking toward the school.

"You love me?" Malia asked, giving me an innocent look that I found completely adorable. She's so innocent, protective, and clueless in her own way. I laughed lightly, biting into my doughnut while nodding.

Malia smiled lightly, "well, I love you too, Victoria." I linked my free arm with Malia's and began walking with her toward the library, "we have thirty minutes before class, maybe we could go over the presidents?" I took another bite of the chocolate goodness, moaning as it practically dissolved in my mouth.

"Sure, like Benjamin Franklin, right?" She asked. I went to reply with a correction on how Benjamin Franklin was never a president, but we got interrupted by Kira. Her black hair was pulled up in a messy ponytail and she looked frantic.

Malia and I stopped in place, I sent a friendly smile to Kira. "Hey guys, did you," she was breathing heavily and had to pause for breath. "Did you hear about the, the new girl?" She asked, her hands on her hips as she spoke.

"There's a new girl?" I asked, to which she nodded, "is she any nice? What does she look like?" I began looking around the courtyard, looking for any new people who I didn't recognize. No one stood out, screaming NEW KID.

Kira looked nervous, "that's the thing, I uh, I kind of know her already..." Kira began, her hands were waving around and she was freaking out. I furrowed my brows at her and grabbed her hands, making sure they didn't knock my doughnut from my grasps.

"Is she a friend of yours?" I asked while Malia said, "why're you sweating? You smell... stressed." I choked back a laugh at that, coughing to cover it up. I took a bite of my doughnut while waiting for Kira to reply.

She looked around us, making sure no one was watching? And she went to say something, but her voice was drowned out by the sound of the bell. I frowned at her, "tell us later, okay? We can't be late for history." I shoved the rest of the doughnut in my mouth, tossing the napkin as we made our way to class.

History was boring, I mean really boring. Mr. Yukimura's voice just meshed with my internal dialogue without separation or distinction of words. Maybe I'm just tired? A yawn left my lips. Yup, tired.

I wasn't even paying attention to the class, nope, instead I was watching Malia, who sat beside me, with an amused and fond smile. She was flipping through her book, using a red highlighter to color in the pages, highlighting everything while a yellow highlighter was jammed in her mouth.

It was cute.

"Malia? One of our greatest presidents? Gettysburg Address?" Mr. Yukimura prompted from the front of the class. I bit my lip, and held up an 'L' with my hand from under the desk but, she didn't catch on. Instead she put the other red highlighter in her mouth as well and started flipping through one of the many textbooks on her desk.

I could see Kira waving her arm from the other side of Malia and I frowned. The sound of dinging phones went off, which distracted Mr. Yukimura, "phones off. Everyone." I kicked Malia with the toe of my shoe, which gained her attention.

"Lincoln," I whispered harshly but she frowned and pulled the highlighters from her mouth. "Does anyone else know?" He sighed and I frowned, giving Malia a smile as everyone put their hands up-- besides for Malia, Stiles, Scott, and I. What can I say? We're good friends.

Malia sunk down in her seat, trying to go unnoticed by everyone. I leaned toward her, "we'll study later, kay?" She nodded quickly and looked back down at her books. Another ding went off and Mr. Yukimura went off.

"I said, phones off!" I stiffled a laugh, coughing to make up for it as Kira spoke. "Dad, that was yours." Mr. Yukimura smiled slightly, "oh. uhm..." he turned and pulled out a tablet from his bag, reading from it: "Scott, call Lydia."

That's how Stiles and Scott ended up leaving school early. They wouldn't let me come, saying it could be dangerous, to which I gave Scott a very obvious glare that hopefully reminded him of our conversation this morning.

Now I was sitting in the courtyard after school with Kira and Malia, eating a peanut butter and pickle sandwich while we went over notes for our classes with Malia. She was so lost and new at this whole school thing that it made me feel bad for her.

Currently we were doing math, "so, X is what I have to find?" I nodded, swallowing my bite of peanutbutter and pickle goodness, "yeah." I looked over at her paper to see the equation. Malia pointed to X and then looked at me, "well, it's right here? Why do I need to find it if I know where it is?" I had to try very hard to laugh.

I shook my head, setting my sandwich down so I could help her. "Okay, so we're trying to find the value of X, kay? So, first we have to isolate X by getting it by itself, and then we do the system of equations to figure out what X equals." Malia nodded along but I could see the confusion in her eyes.

"Here, let's do a practice problem." I picked up the pencil and began showing her how to do the sample problem step by step. Once she got it, I let her take over. Kira was sitting across from us quietly, way to quiet to be normal. Usually Kira was talking my ear off about Scott or the pack, or some other random thing. She was rarely ever quiet.

I looked her over, my eyebrows furrowed. She was looking across the courtyard with a softened face, her eyes were glossy though and I could tell she was upset with something by the way she picked at the wood splinters on the table.

As discretely as possible, I glanced in the direction Kira was looking to find who, or what she was looking at. My eyes widened slightly as I found new girl, and wow was she pretty. She had dark skin with wild curly hair that wall styled with cute fringe I could see even from across the courtyard.

Her smile was wide and genuinely happy as she talked with Greenburg. Her style was cute too, she wore light wash jeans, a black crop top, and a cute pullover that had red, blue, and white in it. I turned back to Kira with a raised brow, not that she noticed, I wonder how she knows new girl.

My phoned began ringing before I could ask Kira about her connection to the new girl. Scott's name flashed on the screen and I smiled slightly before answering, "hey babe." I popped a potato chip in my mouth.

Scott sighed as he responded, "hey. Stiles is taking Derek to my house right now, we found him at the police station." My face scrunched at that and I looked to Malia, who I could tell was listening in. "Why was he at the police station?" I asked, grabbing another chip.

"He almost attacked two deputy's. I think he's mentally sixteen again as well as physically," he explained and I heard the sound of his dirt bike starting up. Ugh, I hate that thing. "We need Peter," I stated. He was the only one who'd be able to help with Derek in this state.

I could hear Scott let out a breath, "I know. I'm going to go find him now. I need you guys to meet Stiles at my house as soon as you can." "Okay, be safe. I love you," I glanced up to notice Kira frowning at my words. "I love you too."

Why does Kira always do that? Any time I mention mine and Scott's relationship or she sees us together, she gets... uncomfortable and I don't understand why. I frowned while hanging up the phone.

"Hey," Lydia leaned her hands on the table we were sitting at, her eyebrows raised. "Scott texted, we need to go." She explained quickly. We all nodded and quickly stood from the table, making our way to Lydia's car.

Ugh, I love her car.
