《Her Boss》3

I decided to text Elle, and immediately received an excited response, including a picture of her best friend and herself. I smiled, looking at how her blonde locks were neatly combed into a bun, "is she your daughter?" Addison asked, as she leaned against me, so that she'd have a better view of the screen. I nodded. She stretched her arm, and touched the screen with her index finger, "Elle, right?" I furrowed my brows, and looked at her, "the other girl in the picture is my daughter," she smiled and sat up in her seat.

"Aria, right?" She nodded, before biting down on her bottom lip, "I'm guessing you know my ex-wife then."

"Yeah. Gin—"

"Is a bitch," I said nonchalantly. That part of the programme was over, and the announcer called on another group of kids.

Addison chuckled and touched my arm again, "I was going to say very blunt, but that works too," we sat in silence once again, as the programme continued. The next item on the list was the seniors' choreography, which was what Elle was performing in, and I assumed Aria was, as well. The auditorium went black, and only a spotlight could be seen in the center of the stage. I knew Elle was performing the opening scene, since the weekends that she'd spent at my place, she'd rehearsed for it. And I even helped her, almost breaking my back in the process. Her legs were stretched out in the air, her feet perfectly arched just like how we'd practiced. Two other girls joined her on stage, doing somersaults and spins. The executions were fairly done, but they weren't professionals. The audience erupted in applause, as they bowed, and left the stage. Elle had another performance, so I had to sit tight and wait, "waiting for the next performance, huh?" She touched my arm, once again. I nodded and she smiled, "our girls do almost everything together. I'm surprised I've never seen you before," I felt a sudden pain invading my chest, knowing that I wasn't the best mother. After Ginnifer received full custody of Elle, I couldn't have done much. She only stayed at my place every other weekend. Ginnifer's resentment towards me from the divorce made my time spent with my daughter limited, "you don't talk much, huh?"

"Not really," I shrugged and focused my eyes back on the stage, where a boy was reciting a poem.

"I'm planning on taking them out for a late lunch after, do you want to come?" She asked and I almost hesitated, but knew it would be more time with my daughter, even if I had to put up with Ginnifer.

"Sounds good," I said, turning back to face her. About three more performances happened, before Elle and Aria were on stage again. That time they sang a song together. Their voices were a bit off track, but it was well done, nothing less. Everyone applauded, before Addison and I made our way out of the auditorium, where we would have waited for them.

"Samantha, I'm surprised to see you here," I saw Ginnifer walking towards us with the girls in tow with her. She looked at Addison smugly, before directing her attention back to me.

"How are you, Gin?" I asked.

"I'm fine. I see you've met Addison. I wonder what's going on there," she muttered, obviously assuming what she shouldn't.

"We met at work," ha, that's understated. Addison filled in.

"Oh, colleagues I see, competing to get up the corporate ladder I would assume," Ginnifer said, before the girls interjected into our conversation.

"You two work together!" I work for her. They yelled excitedly.

"This is so awesome. I can finally have sleepovers at your other mom's place. Oh, by the way, I'm Aria," Addison's daughter introduced herself.

"I don't think..." Ginnifer tried to disapprove, but I spoke quicker.

"I would love that, and if you guys want to stay over on weekdays, I can always drop both of you off at school in the mornings," I knew that I'd be able to spend more time with Elle, even if it included hanging around her friend.

"Mom, would it be okay if we had a sleepover this weekend, and then Elle's mom can drop us off at school on Monday?" Aria pleaded to her mother.

"An entire weekend? Who's gonna watch back to back episodes of Grey's Anatomy with me?" Addison pouted, which was a side of her that I didn't think I would've ever seen.

Aria said, "Mom, this is why you need to find a girlfriend," oh, damn. Aria groaned and crossed her arms over her chest.

"Whatever, can we go get something to eat? I'm hungry," Addison mumbled.

"I can't come with, some people have jobs," Ginnifer snarled. We've got jobs too, Ginnifer.

"Wouldn't want to be there with you anyway," I grinned, as the girls began to walk towards the school's entrance. I caught up with them with Addison by my side, and left Ginnifer behind.
