《Friends with the Frat》12~ Burnt Brownies

"Okay, I'm coming over and we're having a girls day. No one is gonna get in my way" Remi said as we walked to lunch.

I laughed at her outspoken statement. It's true we haven't been with each other as much since she and Carter started dating. I guess this is how Carter felt when I was with Will.

"Okay, but you're my ride. Dad and Carter have the car. Damn we really need a new one. Especially since Con is moving out soon."

"Y'all really do. Anyway, what do you want to do?" Remi asked.

"We could bake cookies or brownies or something and watch movies." I suggested.

She nodded. "Sounds perfect and classic." We sat down at our normal spots during lunch.

"What sounds perfect?" Carter questioned and kissed Remi's head.

"Nothing to worry yourself about babe" she hopped his nose and went to eating her food.

Carter pouted but ate his food too.

"Rem, wasn't Isaac going to sit with us today?" I asked her.

"We'll he was, but he found some friends so he wanted to sit with them instead." She said.

"Hey everyone" Logan said and sat in his seat next to me.

A various string of heys were heard. I turned towards him. "Hey" I said.

"Hey yourself, how was your day so far?"

"Pretty good. Nothing has really happened yet." I shrugged.

My phone rang. I looked to see Harper calling me. I wonder what she wanted.

I must've looked confused or something because Logan looked concerned.

"You good?" He asked.

"Yeah, I just wasn't expecting a call. I'll be right back" I said and stood up from the table to find somewhere quiet.

"Hey Harp, are you okay?" I asked as I answered the phone.

"Oh Cora thank god you answered. I'm stranded with a flat tire on the way to lunch and I tried to call your dad but he didn't answer. I was wondering if you could find him for me or something." She explained.

"Um yeah he's probably eating lunch or something I'll go find him"

I could hear her sigh of relief from the other side of the phone. "Okay thank you so much sweetie. See you at home"

"Bye Harp" I said and hung up the phone.

I walked to Dad's classroom, where he normally was during this time. I knocked as I walked in to announce my presence.

"Dad?" I asked but the classroom was empty. I heard footsteps coming down the hall. The door opened again a few seconds later.

"Coco? What are you doing in here?" He asked and gave me a hug.

I hugged him back. He went to sit down at his desk to eat lunch. "Harp got stranded on the way to lunch with a flat. She called you but you didn't answer and called me."

He shot up almost immediately. "Did she tell you where she was? Is she okay?" He rummaged through his desk to find his keys.

I couldn't help but smile at his franticness. I loved how much he cared about Harper. He's in love with her and I love seeing him this happy.

"She's fine, Dad. Call her and find out where she is" I said.

"Okay, I'm gonna go help her. I'll be back." He kissed my head and rushed out of the room.

I chuckled quietly to myself and left the room. I went back to the cafeteria.

The whole table looked at me worriedly as I walked back to them and sat down.

"Is everything okay?" Carter asked.

"Yeah yeah. Harp got a flat and Dad didn't answer his phone, so she called me. He went to go help her." I summed up.

He took a breath of relief. "Thank god"

"I'm glad she's okay" Nick said.

"Yeah me too" I answered.

After that we changed the conversation and talked about random things until lunch was over.

"Which movies do we want to watch tonight?" Remi asked as she drove to Riley's.

"I don't know there's so many good ones to choose from" I answered. "She's the man. Clueless. How to lose a guy in 10 days. Legally blonde. 10 things I hate about you."

"Princess diaries marathon?" Remi's suggested as she pulled into the parking lot.

I squealed and jumped in my seat. "Yes! I haven't seen those movies in so freaking long"

We locked eyes and died laughing as she parked the car.

"Okay so we'll watch that, but what about snacks. What are we gonna make?"

I shrugged. "I don't think we have anything edible at our house as a snack right now. I swear the boys come over so much and eat us out of house and home." I laughed.

"Then we should probably stop at the store before we go to your house."

I nodded in agreement. "Definitely. Floats or fries?" I turned to her as we walked up to the register.

"Both?" She questioned with a sneaky look on her face.

I smiled at the way she thought. "Two root beer floats and a large order of fries, please Chantel"

"Yes ma'am. Don't forget your interview is tomorrow. Little tip, you don't have to dress all fancy. Our manager is only a couple years older and he doesn't care about all the fancy things."

"Thank you. $7.89, right?" I asked as I started to grab a ten out of my wallet.

She laughed at how I knew the price. "Come here often?" She teased.

"It's what Will and I always got," I shrugged. "It's kind of engraved in my brain. Keep the change."

"Thank you, Cora. I'll get you things out soon" she smiled and put the cash in the drawer.

Remi and I walked to one of our regular spots. It was just the two of us we didn't have to squish into the large corner booth with all the guys.

"When did you apply here?" Remi asked.

"Last week before I left for Indiana. I needed a job and I figure this was the best option. This or laser tag."

She nodded. We talked about tonight until Chantel brought out our food. We ate and we were about ready to get up and leave.

The bell on the door rang and on instinct I looked up and saw Kenzie and Grayson walking in together while holding hands.

"Kenz!" I squealed. She looked over at me with a smile on her face. She told Gray something and kissed his cheek before walking over to us.

She sat next to me and hugged me.

"Who brought you?" I asked.

"Some friends on the soccer team. They went to the coffee shop down the street." she shrugged. "How was Indiana?" She asked happily.

"Oh it was so amazing. I never knew how much I could miss someone until they were 1,200 miles away. Will told me to hug you for him and tell you how much he missed you."

"Yeah I missed him too. I just can't wait for thanksgiving so I can see him again."

"I'm with you there sister" i said and hugged her again.

Grayson came over to us and sat next to Remi.

"So what are you guys up to today?" Kenz asked us.

We shrugged. "A little girls' day with the two of us" Remi answered.

"Fun! We're just grabbing a bite before soccer practice then we're heading to Gray's house for dinner." Kenzie explained to us.

I elbowed her playfully in her stomach. She shoved my arm away with a laugh.

"We'll leave and you two have a nice date" I winked as Remi and I stood up.

We locked arms and walked out to her car. We quickly ran into the store and got some stuff for brownies and some cookie dough to eat raw.

"Hello? I'm home" I called into the house. It seemed empty. Harper's car was in the driveway, but t he at could be because she had a flat earlier. I shrugged. "Guess no one's here"

I set my bag in my room and Remi put the snacks we bought in the kitchen. She hopped up on the counter and munched on some of the m&ms we brought.

I grabbed the box of brownies and preheated the oven according to the directions. I put on our shared playlist and we screamed to mainly 2000s music.

We mixed the brownie batter and poured it into the greased pan. Remi went and got the movies ready while I put the brownies in the oven.

I grabbed the m&ms and the cookie dough and hopped over the back of the couch and next to Remi.

"Okay Miss parkour" she laughed. "Are you ready to watch the movies?"

"Yes!" I squealed. I don't even remember the last time I watched these movies.

I handed her the m&ms and opened the cookie dough myself.

"Oh I love Micheal he's so sweet." Remi gushed.

"I've always liked Nicholas better with her." I admitted. "I get that Michael was the first boyfriend and saw her before she was a princess, but I feel like her and Nicholas had more chemistry."

"Yeah but Micheal" she whined. I rolled my eyes playfully at her.

We were at the Paolo makeover scene. One of my favorite scenes is the second movie and Paolo dies her hair.

I heard the door open and the boys walked in. Harper and a sleeping Sky followed behind.

"Hey babe" Carter plopped down by Remi and kissed her cheek.

She kissed him back, but it was short lived. "Sorry babe girls only today"she said before pushing him off the couch.

He pouted but got up anyway.

"Are you girls cooking something?" Dad asked as he sniffed the air.

"Brownies" I answered. My eyes went wide and I jumped up off the couch. "Shit the brownies!" I exclaimed and tan over to the oven.

"No Dad they're burning something" Carter joked.

I ripped I open the oven door and looked at the burnt brownies. I grabbed the oven mitts and took the brownies out of the oven. I frowned.

Remi paused the movie and came over to me. Carter laughed hysterically. I quieted him down with a glare.

The brownies were pretty much black and hard on the top. They weren't even salvageable.

"I must've forgot to turn on the timer when I put them in" I said. "Sorry Dad, I didn't mean to make the house smell like this" I apologized.

He hugged me. "It's okay Coco"

"How did you not smell it?" Carter asked as he laughed. Remi smacked him in the chest and I glared him down again.

"Shut up Car, or I'll tell Remi about the time you peed your pants at sea world." I threatened.

He hated that story. I promised I wouldn't bring it up again. Desperate times call for desperate measures, except it's not that desperate. I just like messing with my brother.

He groaned and threw his head back. "Please don't Coco, you know how embarrassing that was for me"

Remi perked up at the mention of embarrassing moments for her boyfriend. I'd probably end up telling her anyway or I'll never hear the end of her begging me to tell her.

"I won't" I motioned to zip my lips and threw away the key.

We cleaned up the burnt brownies and their pan. After everything was clean, we went back to the living room and played the movie back.

Will texted me and wondered if I wanted to FaceTime. I told him it was girls night and that Kenzie probably really wanted to talk. He went to face time her.

Two movies, raw cookie dough, burnt brownies, a whole bag of m&ms, blackmail, and a bunch of fangirling later we finished the movies and Remi was ready to go home.

We bade goodbye and promised to see each other tomorrow. I turned back to the house and Carter was there with his arms crossed.

"You told her, didn't you?" He asked immediately.

I shrugged. "Wouldn't you like to know" I teased. He knew I told her and there wasn't any denying it.

"Coco?" He said in a low voice.

"Yeah?" I asked with a half smile.

"Run" he warned before chasing me around the house. Once he finally got me, he tackled me to the ground and began tickling me. I kicked and punch to no avail.

"Carter stop tickling your sister" Dad ordered.

I stuck my tongue out at him like a little kid. He stopped tickling and got off of me.

"Truce?" He asked and held out his hand.

"Truce" I agreed and we did the handshake we made up when we were kids.
