《Friends with the Frat》6~ Back to School

"Senior year!" I heard someone yell and jump on top of me. Bandit barked playfully from his spot. I opened my eyes to see Remi laying on me jumping around.

"Yeah yeah, five more minutes" I shoved her off.

She whined and pooped right back up. "Cora, it's our senior year of high school. Our last first day. Aren't you even the littlest bit excited?"

"No I don't want to grow up." I mumbled.

I could almost feel her roll her eyes at me. "Your dad is making chocolate chip pancakes for everyone, be ready and downstairs if you want some or the boys will steal it all"

That sure woke me up fast. I popped out of bed. "How many guys are here?" I asked as I walked to my clothes I picked out for today.

She shrugged. "Brothers, Nick, Tommy, and Logan." She hopped on my bed and pet Bandit.

I breathed in relief. Okay so it wasn't a lot. I changed into my clothes for today. A plain black tee with ripped white denim shorts. The shorts had vibes written in red on one of the back pockets.

"Aren't those my shorts?" Remi asked from the bed.

"Probably" I shrugged. Most of our clothes are all mixed I don't know what's mine and not anymore.

I put on my necklace I got with Sky and the girls and a few stray pieces of jewelry. I went to the bathroom to brush my teeth and hair. I grabbed two piece of the front of my hair and tied them together with a hair tie on the back of my head.

I put on a little makeup and I was done getting ready. I met with Remi downstairs. The kitchen had several boys scattered around it.

"Cora!" Tommy yelled and hugged me as he was the first person to see me.

"Hey Tommy" I said and hugged him back. "No one else hug me until I get chocolate chip pancakes in my mouth" I warned. They laughed but obeyed.

I got my pancakes from Dad with a hug and kiss.

"Wow someone must really like these pancakes" Logan joked as I sat down at the only open seat, beside him.

"Don't test me Bailey. I will hurt you" I warned.

He laughed as if I was teasing him.

"Don't laugh Logan, she's dead serious. She has more capability than you would think" Carter said and all the others agreed.

"She's not past hurting while you're sleeping" Dad said in all seriousness. "It's not safe to be on her bad side" he laughed.

Logan looked slightly terrified back at me. I smiled sweetly and devoured some chocolate chip pancakes.

"Hey honey" I heard Harper say and kiss Dad's cheek. I turned to face them. I had no idea Harper was here.

"Where's Sky?" I asked.

"My sister's. Her kid goes to the same school and they insisted a sleepover on the night before school." She laughed at the thought.

"Damn you weren't kidding about the pancakes." Logan said in shock. Everyone around here knew about how I feel about chocolate chip pancakes. Sucks to be the new comer.

I smirked. "Damn straight" he laughed and shook his head at me. "Oh shit, Will. I said I'd call him before school." I ran upstairs to grab my phone.

I had already missed a call and a couple of texts. I mentally face palmed myself and called him back.

"Babe?" I asked when he picked up.

"Hey snowflake" he answered. It felt amazing to hear his voice again. "Getting ready for school? It's almost time for you to leave, isn't it?"

"I got carried away talking to the boys and eating chocolate chip pancakes. Dad must've thought that the first day of senior year was important enough for them" I shrugged. "I do have to go soon but Carter's driving so we can talk on the way there."

I grabbed everything I'd need for today and walked downstairs. The boys were getting all there things ready to walk out of the door. Remi of course was already heading out to Carter's car.

I followed along and Will said hi to his friends. They all lit up at the sound of his voice. I let Remi take shotgun and I got in the back seat.

Carter and Remi held hands over the console. I'm happy they finally got together. They only liked each other for at least six months before either one did anything about it. It was really annoying.

We all talked with Will on the way to school. He had practice to get to so he had to go before too long.

"Guys we need a picture before school. First day of senior year." Remi said and smacked Carter many times after he said he refused. He gave in.

We took a picture of the three of us. I can't believe it's our last first day of high school. It was unreal. I would actually have to figure out what to do with my life and start applying to colleges and scholarships.

Remi grabbed my hand and practically yanked me and Carter into the school. She was way to excited for senior year. Carter and I shared the same facial expression.

"Hey guys!" Eliza chirped. "You guys are still gonna cheer, right? If so, returners have their spot back. Just let me know"

"Of course Liz" Remi squealed and looked at me expectantly. I nodded and the two of them squealed.

"Okay, you still have to sign up so we can gauge how many cheerleaders are going to try out. Of course y'all don't have to try out"

She handed us the clip board and we signed our names. We bid our good byes as she moved on to the next girl.

"Let's get to class" Carter said and took Remi's hand. I followed behind them until I caught up to them.

Thankfully we had the same first through third periods together. Then my next classes have at least on of everyone in the group. I have a pretty fortunate schedule.

I walked to the lunch table alone. Normally I would have Will walk with me. It's been so weird today without all the boys here. Last year I didn't have them in all of my classes. Lunch is going to make it tremendously obvious that they're all gone.

I sat next to Remi in my normal spot. Carter was on the other side of her. Nick and Tommy sat on the opposite side of the table. Without the other six spots filled the table felt like something was missing and clearly there was.

"It's so empty" I said as I sat down. And to think next year this table is going to be filled with completely new people. A new group of friends will claim it as their own and have lunch to laugh and talk together.

"Yeah, I know. It's weird that half the table is missing" Carter said.

"Before you guys came this is pretty much how it was. We didn't have you, Cora, and Cooper or Lena and Remi" Nick said.

Tommy agreed with him. "But it's weird. We've grown accustomed to having this table full. A whole year and now it's the five of us"

Logan walked into the cafeteria and looked for a place to sit. I would invite him but I don't even know him.

"Logan! Over here!" Nick called.

"Hey guys!" He walked up with a smile and sat down next to me. "How's it goin?"

They overlapped their voices talking about how good it was. Conversation fell easily after that. I had to admit it was weird that Will wasn't sitting next to me and teasing me.

After I finished eating, I felt my phone buzz. I saw Will's contact picture flash across my screen with his name "My Love ❤️".

"That you're boyfriend?" Logan asked referring to my contact name. Clearly it was, his name is my love with a heart and the contact picture is him kissing me on the cheek. Not to mention my screen saver is us kissing at his graduation.

"As a matter fact yes it is. I have to take this." I told him. "Guys it's Will, I'll be right back."

I answered the call and walked to a quiet place. The phone connected and I heard his cheery voice on the other side of the phone.

"Hey snowflake." Will said.

"Hey babe. What are you doing?"

"Nothing. I just wanted to call and see how you were doing. I figured it was lunch."

My heart swelled at his words. He called to check up on me.

"Everything's good. I have all classes with at least one of the boys or Remi at all times. So I'm never alone. I do miss you though and all the others, but mainly you" I answered.

"I miss you too, but we'll see each other soon, okay? I'm counting down the days until I get to come home for Thanksgiving."

"Me too baby me too."

The bell rang which signaled that lunch was over. For the first time in a while I had to go before Will did.

"I have to go, Babe." I said suddenly got really sad.

"I'll call you tonight. We'll have a study date or something. I love you, Snowflake."

"I love you too Will. See you later."

"Bye" he said and I had hang up and get to class.

Remi grabbed my things from the cafeteria and I grabbed my backpack from the hall. "Thanks Rem"

"No biggie, do we have next period together?" She asked.

"Do you have Trody for AP Psych?" I asked hopefully.

She shook her head. "I have Ramiez for Anthropology. See you later I guess"

"Bye" I hugged her and we walked in opposite directions.

I walked to Mr. Trody's class by myself. I thought I had this class with Remi. Maybe Nick or Tommy would be in here.

No sign of Nick or Tommy in the classroom. They didn't have this class. I look around the room for a place to sit and I saw Logan sitting at a table alone.

"Hey Logan, do you mind if I sit here?" I asked him. He looked up from his phone and saw me. A smile found it's way to his face.

"Of course you can Cora. How was Will? I heard he was going to Notre Dame."

"Good I guess. We didn't have long to talk. He called to check in on me." I answered.

"Indiana is far away. How's the long distance holding up?"

It was an odd question for someone who hardly knew me but I didn't think anything of it. He was just curious.

"Good. We text all the time and FaceTime every night. So far it's been good" I answered honestly.

"Okay class look up here" Mr. Trody said. "Those of you who don't know, I'm Martin Trody and I'm your AP psych teacher. I have two daughters, four grandchildren, and a beautiful wife. You will probably see them around school every now and again."

"With that said, welcome to AP psych. There will be research papers, projects, and so much more to help you understand the material for the finals. I wish you the best of luck in this class. You may talk with those around you if you keep it quiet and controlled. We will begin work tomorrow."

We all turned to our neighbors and began talking.

The rest of the school day went by fast and I made it to the field as fast as possible after school. I haven't seen much of the boys actually playing when I watch practice. Today was scrimmage day and I was excited to see what this team has in store for this season.

"Hey Coco" Dad said as I found him. I hugged him.

"Coco!" Sky squealed and ran into my arms. I spun her around and she laughed.

"Hey nugget, what are you doing here?" I asked and tickled her tummy.

She laughed and pushed my hand away. "I came to watch Daddy yell at Carter and the boys" she said sweetly.

Daddy? She called him daddy? It's cute and I love that she thinks of him like that, but for some reason I felt a pang of hurt in my heart. I don't know why. Maybe it's just weird that I'm not his only daughter anymore.

"We'll you have fun doing that" I laughed.

Dad walked over to me and took her out of my arms and into his. I walked over to Harper.

"She just called him daddy" I said and sat down next to her

"Oh sweetie, I'm sorry. She just started doing that. I don't know where it came from"

I looked at her quickly. "No no don't apologize. I just wasn't expecting it. I'm not the only girl in his life anymore and I got to get used to it"

"I know it's hard for you. All of this stuff with me and your dad, especially with Skylar. If you need someone to talk to or anything, know that I'm here if you need me." She said.

I smiled at her and laid my head on her shoulder. "Thank you Harper"

"You're welcome sweetie"

For once in a long time, I felt like I had someone I could go to for anything. I had someone to lean on that wasn't my brothers or dad. I had a mother figure and I felt one hundred percent comfortable with that.
