《Chasing Rainbows//Myungjin》comfort

jinwoo and i had become close friends that year. we did see each other every morning, and skip to our senior year, and we are the best of friends. of course i still like him, but he's not allowed to know. plus, those feelings are looked down upon and we're best friends. and he obviously likes girls. he's asked me for advice before. the only person who knows of my little crush is dongmin, of course. i've also gotten better at remembering names though! i still call minhyuk minfuck just to piss him off though.
---
"ok, class, your schedule is going to look a little different from other senior classes. instead of being with me first thing in the morning, you will be with me at the end of the day. that is because we're going to do a special senior project. first, please choose a partner." my homeroom teacher announced. i quickly sat beside jinwoo and he smiled at me. "ok great, class. now, our special project is helping 2nd graders at the local elementary school! you all are exactly ten years older, and they have a really small class this year, causing them to be half the size of this class. so i'll see you all at the end of the day, and we'll head over there. i'll be giving you and your partner a certain child when we get there."
{time skip to her class}
"ok, class, i'd like you to meet the 2nd grade class." mrs. park explained. she started calling out names and paired children with seniors. finally, jinwoo and i's names were called and i listened closely to who we would end up with. "choi lee chan," she said.
oh my god. lee chan?? like the one i met at the park my freshmen year? i hadn't seen him in quite a while.
i heard a little scream and saw little chan run up to me. "myungjunnie! it's been so long! i missed you, hyung!!" he yelled at me.
"i missed you, too, channie! why did you stop going to the park?" i questioned, but smiled brightly at the young boy.
"mommy and daddy were really busy when i started preschool, and didn't have time to take me there anymore, and my babysitter didn't want to take me." he explained with a sad look on his face.

"oh, baby, don't feel bad! i got pretty busy myself. do you remember my friend, jinwoo?" i gestured to jinwoo, standing there with a content smile on his face.
"hey there, chan. i remember you," jinwoo told chan with a smile.
"woah! can i call you woo-woo?" chan inquired.
"sure thing, kid. and what do you wanna call myungjunnie?" jinwoo questioned pointing at me.
"jun-junnie!" he smiled brightly at me.
jinwoo chuckled and looked at me with adoration in his eyes. probably because chan was so damn cute. "that's cute. i think i might start calling you that, too, jun-junnie."
i felt the heat rising to my cheeks. damn you, jinwoo, always making me blush with the simplest words.
"my dearest senior class, you have 10 more minutes to bond with these kids before school is dismissed. lucky for you, when they get dismissed, so do you. you can ride the bus back to school with me, or if you drove yourselves here, leave right after this." my teacher announced to the class.
"wait until mommy finds out you're my senior buddies! he loved that you hung out with me, jun-junnie!" chan exclaimed excitedly.
"i'm happy i get to see your wonderful parents again soon, too!" i told him right back. this will definitely be a fun senior year.
it was dismissal, and parents were coming in to pick up their kids. jinwoo and i were sitting with chan waiting for his parents. at that moment, chan scrambled up and ran towards the front of the room screaming mommy.
he led his parents over to us and introduced us.
"myungjun! jinwoo! it's nice to see you both again. channie here missed you," jeonghan told us.
"it's good to see you, too! i'm excited to spend my senior year with chan!" i replied.
suddenly, jeonghan started tearing up and suddenly hugged me, saying about how i grew up so well and that i can come visit chan whenever i want. he continued to give me their address and his phone number, saying that chan would love for me to visit when i can. of course i said i would love to. they soon left and jinwoo and i were walking out of the school to his car, because he didn't want me to sit in a smelly bus with a bunch of annoying people.

i was holding his hand and swinging them back and forth in comfortable silence. he broke it though asking, "wanna go to that cute new cafe dream or whatever it's called?"
"sure! but i don't have any money with me. it's all at home," i replied.
"that's not a problem! i'll gladly pay for you, myungie!" he said with a huge, heart-warming grin.
"i'm aware of that, but i'll feel bad. you pay all the time, and you shouldn't have to do that. it's not like i'm your girlfriend or something," i said with a nervous laugh.
"well damn, myungie, if you have to be my girlfriend for me to pay for you, then you'll be my girlfriend," he chuckled. once he realized what exactly he said, he quickly exclaimed, "i'm kidding! you're not a girl anyways! sorry, myungie, if i bothered you or something."
"no, no. let's go to the cafe, jinwoo."
we entered the cafe, and it was so cute! it was kind of white, but also quite colorful. i told jinwoo what i wanted and walked to a booth by the window while he ordered. he soon came back with drinks in hand, and a few cookies, too.
"here. i know how much you like chocolate chip cookies, and these are freshly baked. look, the chocolate is still melted!" he said sitting beside me and giving me a cookie, while he started eating his own. i giggled at his cuteness when he got a huge chocolate smear on his cheek. i picked up a napkin and looked over at him, and reached out with the napkin.
"you have a little something on your cheek. goodness, taking care of you is like taking care of a six year old." i giggled.
he blushed a bit, but soon regained confidence, deciding to test me by saying, "you're probably as short as a six year old."
"bitch! you're the same height as me, dumbass! take that back!" i slightly yelled at him. of course i wasn't really angry, but he quickly started repeating sorry over and over again. i laughed and quickly said, "i'm kidding. i'm not mad at you!"
his face shot up and he soon got an evil grin on his face. before i could say anything else, he stood up, told me oh well, and ran out of the cafe to his car. oh no. he is not abandoning me here. i quickly ran out into the rain. he locked the car doors once he got inside and laughed evilly at me. but once i sneezed once, he was quick to put me in his car and drive me to his house.
"i'm so sorry, junnie! it was just a joke, but now you're gonna get sick. i'm so sorry!" he started telling me.
"oh, hush, you weirdo. i'll be fine, just a cold. i'm really prone to colds, so it would've happened anyway. please calm down, jinwoo." i gave him a stern look, and he soon turned back to the road, not saying anything else. i turned the radio on and heard one of my all-time favorite songs playing, boy in luv by bts. soon, jinwoo and i started singing along all loud and chaotic.
in no time, we arrived at his house. i said hello to his dad and we went upstairs. jinwoo started looking through a box until he found what i assumed he was looking for. he held it up for me to see, and i noticed it was a movie. mean girls. our favorite movie. when we discovered it, we watched it together and fell in love with the movie's good humor. we soon knew the movie word by word to the point that we didn't need korean subtitles to know what they were saying.
jinwoo gave me a big grin, put the movie in the dvd player, turned on the tv, and grabbed boxes of candy out from under his bed and layed next to me. i felt his warm breath on my neck as he pulled me next to him, starting the movie. it was already getting late, and even though i love that movie, laying in the dark, surrounded by warmth from jinwoo and hearing the comforting sound of his breathing, feeling the steady rhythm of his heart, i soon fell asleep.
