"...i think we should break open the door"
"no, i will climb over the balcony..."
jungkooks brows furrow at the conversation he's hearing from the other side of the door before swiftly pulling open the door.
then he gave an unimpressed look at yoongi's relieved sigh and at hoseok jumping off the fence.
"why didn't you answer your phone, sir. we thought someone murdered you!" the alpha of the pair says shrill with both annoyance and care dripping in his tone.
jungkook just motions at them to get in.
"nice house" yoongi comments glancing at the interior.
after watching taehyung and his pups leaving the country, jungkook had drove himself to the new house he purchased.
afterall jeon mansion used to be his place of residence. now will that mansion burned down and the mafia not under his control, he had looked for a house days back.
and today that came as a blessing when he needed to mope and think through his sadness.
"are you okay, sir?" hoseok then hesitantly asks taking a seat on the couch.
"why wouldn't i be?" jungkook bites back glaring into nothingness.
yoongi gave a long drawn out sigh.
"we lived in the same house for weeks, sir--- we know you love them a lot".
"doesn't matter-- they dont want me. i've lost them" jungkook voice turns solemn, a swirl of melancholy in those darkened orbes.
honestly jungkook now wished he could be unbothered like he used to be; drinking away his stress, visit a club or just sleep away his problems.
but now as he sits in his new grand house, he cant bring himself to do neither of them.
all he can feel is the absence; of his pups scents, their little giggles and cries, of taehyungs baby talk...
"you're their father. they need you" yoongi says and hoseok nods to it vigorously.
"you cant change the past, but in the future you can be better for them" yoongi adds, just as hoseok nuzzles the beta with a proud face.
jungkook just hums.
once the pair leaves, jungkook ponders a lot on what they said.
honestly he's just so clueless. he really doesn't know what to do or where to start.
just when jungkook was about to settle into another round of self loathing, his phone pinged with a message.
his lazy eyes widened a fraction when he saw that the message is from taehyungs new number.

taehyung:
we arrived safely.
the house is really nice.
the alpha stared at the message for a whole two minutes before he remembered that he need to reply.
me:
thats good.
let me know if you need
anything else.
the simple reply came soon enough.
taehyung:
will do :)
jungkook smiled a little before typing again.
me:
hows the pups
settling in?
taehyung:
hungry and a lil tired.
the pic nearly melted the alpha on how much he miss them even though its just been six hours.
thats it jungkook decided then. he really need to do something.

okay, now jungkook doesn't know a whole lot of good people,
and he isn't to blame for that considering the circumstances he grew up in.
as he stands infront of the unfamiliar worn down house now, moving his weight from leg to leg and fidgeting, the door gently opens and jungkook tried his best to not appear threatening.
"what are you doing here?" was namjoons first sentence where the alpha stood will glasses crooked on his nose and in comfortable clothes.
"i need your help" jungkook says.
"sorry, no." namjoon slams the door shut.
not really used to being rejected or disrespected, this was an unfamiliar territory.
but right now jungkook was desperate, so he swallowed his ego down and tried again.
"you didn't even hear what i have to say? come on dude, open the door." jungkook rams his knuckles on the wooden door.
it took probably half an hour; of jungkook pushing the door bell, mildly threatening to break the door and stenching up the place with unpleasant scents and growls later, the door threw open again.
"you and your brother wont give me a single day of peace, dont you?" namjoon glares clearly fed up.
jungkook says nothing and just invites himself in.
"what do you want?" namjoon asks, annoyed.
"i need your help with something--" jungkook trails, still standing tall and proud.
"....i need you to teach me to be a normal person" he finishes.
namjoon stares dumbfolded for a solid minute before he deadpans a- "you kidding me? get out"
jungkook then rumbles, displeased.
"what? aren't you the good police officer? why cant you help me?", jungkook shouts.
"talk low-- my eomma is sleeping inside" namjoon rubs at his temples wondering what he ever did in his life to deserve all this.
"come on, i will pay you for every session-- 'm just trying to get better here" jungkook reasons.

"i dont want your money" namjoon postures and jungkook growls back in irritation.
the police officer then stares at jungkook before speaking,
"fine then. here goes your first lesson--" namjoon punctuates every word,
"dont growl at people. now get out of my house".
□□□
it took jungkook blowing up namjoons phone for two whole days before the alpha agreed for their first session.
jungkook was told to meet by the han river, so the alpha drives there that evening dressed in a grey hoodie and sweatpants to not draw attention.
the alpha spotted namjoon soon enough, who sat by a bench munching on tteokbokki skewers.
"so what am i learning today?" jungkook sits on the bench and asks with a seriousness of a student trying to ace their final exam.
namjoon finishes his skewers, eyes still ahead watching the peaceful flow of the river before saying-
"i need you to walk by the banks and watch people"
"what? thats dumb" jungkook frowns, crossing his arms.
"go do it or i'm leaving. i have better things to do anyway." namjoon shrugs.
jungkook sits there and takes a deep breath to stop himself from punching namjoon before he stands up and walks as instructed.
"dont be creepy" namjoon says from behind and jungkook throws a middle finger.
for the first few minutes, jungkook just walks glaring at the grass below, thoughts jumping from work to taehyung and the pups.
then he stops and watches the orange glow of the setting sun for a few seconds.
he never knew han river was so beautiful since he only ever watched this place from his moving car.
while he stood mesmerized, he felt something tickling his ankle.
the alpha looked down to see a puppy, the white fluff ball just running around catching the ball his owner was throwing.
he watched the dog for a few minutes, the cute sight was distracting him from all the life problems.
then the alpha resumed his walk, eyes now ahead and wandering; he saw two young couples walking hand in hand, saw some old people taking walks, little kids with their parents by the snack stalls, college students enjoying soju by an open restaurant; so many happy faces.
somehow to see all that felt new, as if he was a newborn once again seeing the world for the first time.
and somewhere deep inside he wished he could have this.
he always thought money and power could get him anything. but all the raw peace and happiness he saw today? no money can get him that.
so jungkook walks more, lost to the time, with cold breeze fanning his face and round eyes curious and carefree.
it was dark by the time jungkook reached back the bench where namjoon was still sitting.
"so, how was the walk?" namjoon asks.
"it was... nice" jungkook says, honest.
a comfortable silence settled then.
"why do you want to change, jungkook?" the older alpha enquires.
"i want to be a good parent" jungkook says after a beat.
namjoon hums thoughtfully.
"there is no short cut to that-- you cant be a good father figure without being a good person first" he starts,
"i know your life till now was a bit... eventful" namjoon says, "think through and be considerate"
"thats a lot of work" jungkook murmurs.
"yeah, it is" namjoon easily agrees.
that day jungkook went to his lonesome home with a heavy heart.
it was lonely. so lonely...
jungkook wonders how he used to live like this before his pups and taehyungs pregnancy.
all the clubs, hook ups, murders and fights looks so displeasing to him now. why ever did all that appealed to him before?
maybe all that was just his destructive coping mechanism to tide over the loneliness?
as he eats the pizza he ordered, the first thing he did was to delete all his social medias with millions of followers.
it was all a mess there anyway after the case involving seokjin broke out.
atleast this will curb away the media attention fully, now that the case is closed. it will only be a matter of time before reporters move to another celebrity rather than snoop around in his boring life.
after finishing his humble dinner, jungkook sits with his laptop and makes a money transaction,
100 million won precisely,
anonymously funded to the omega rescue organization that had helped them.
this will be enough to get that people working better and save them from the verge of closing down.
then jungkook retires to his bed with a sigh, after sending one "good night" message to taehyung.

Blood & Noodles
[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] As they always have, humanity hunts the gods roaming the world, craving the supernatural power that flows within their veins. Even a drop is zealously guarded, passed from master to student through the ages. It is with this stolen power that the Blooded - those with divine blood coursing through them - grasp beyond mortality and achieve prestige, power, and greatness. Yet, for every fraction of power gained, thousands perish, slain by the gods' supernatural prowess. But everything is beginning to change. Eight years ago, for the first time in human memory, a god was felled. Part-time chef and full-time nuisance Orvi wants nothing to do with gods. Living in a derelict city, his only concerns are ensuring his adopted family's restaurant is prosperous and how to best beat the neighbourhood boys in a fight. If he's lucky, he might even snag a date with the farmer's daughter at the market. But even though he cares nothing for the gods or their blood, the world won't leave him alone forever. Because to reach godhood, one must first leave their humanity behind. *** The first arc of Blood & Noodles follows the adolescent Orvi as he attempts to navigate his rapidly changing home and - by his own definition - protect his family. The story is told almost entirely in the first-person, from the perspective of a teenager who isn't always the sharpest tool in the shed. There are tragic elements, especially in the current arc. It's character-focused and driven, though the protagonist's shenanigans are backdropped by a world operating independently from him. Orvi's a generally light-hearted character, and though the story veers into darker territory, I also want it to be able to make readers smile. Action sequences, despite the fantastical elements, are meant to be grounded and clearly-conveyed; Orvi is a brawler, not a warrior. I'm trying to write a story that's enjoyable to read and flows nicely, mainly because it's more fun to write. I'm also trying to improve my writing, so any feedback, whether positive or negative, is welcome!
