《Fairy Tail's Demon God》Chapter 20: The Witch of Wonder

Knightwalker took a step towards Ryuga, but he lifted his hands innocently.
Ryuga: "Are you really going to fight a man with chains on his hands?"
Knightwalker slightly growled and swung her spear at Ryuga. Mystogan flinched, but he was confused by the sound of metal hitting the ground. Knightwalker had purposely aimed for Ryuga's cuffs. Now, with his hands free, Ryuga picked back up his spear.
Ryuga: "Before we start. Are you sure you want to do this?"
Knightwalker: "What do you mean by that? An impressive foe has shown himself before my spear. How could I not challenge him?"
Ryuga's face changed as he looked at Knightwalker with what seemed like pity in his eyes. Mystogan, having seen this sympathetic look of Ryuga before, sighed and stepped back.
Ryuga: "Very well. Ready yourself. This will be over before you can even realize that it has started."
Knightwalker: "How woul-!"
Before she could finish her thought, Ryuga's speartip was already at her forehead. A wave of wind followed, causing the horses around them to start running away. Hay was kicked up by the gale, and Knightwalker's body could not handle the fright she felt. She dropped to the ground and passed out from nothing but fear. Ryuga looked down at her with a sorrowful look.
Ryuga: "I told you to ready yourself."
He dropped his spear and looked at Mystogan. Mystogan almost jumped when he saw Ryuga's face darken. This was not the same apathetic face that had scared him earlier. No, what this was, what Mystogan felt, was like looking into a fire that consumed anything in its path. Ryuga's anger was kindled, and Mystogan knew that he would no longer be able to calm Ryuga down.
Ryuga looked away from Mystogan and focused his eyes on the Magnolia Lacrima. The lacrima started to shake and crack, but Ryuga's angered face quickly looked confused. He wasn't the one who was causing the lacrima to break. Guards stopped trying to find the fugitives and started running towards the lacrima. Ryuga and Mystogan saw the king look out at the lacrima from a balcony with a bewildered expression.
The sky turned bleak and dark, as blue lights, being comparable to stars, started shining in the gloomy sky. Everyone present felt their hearts getting heavy as an ominous aura overflowed within their veins. Some citizens who were weak-willed even dropped to their knees in terror.
Mystogan felt cold sweat drop off his brow as he was just as frightened and baffled as the rest. He looked over to find Ryuga chuckling. He was going to question it, but Ryuga answered before the question came.
Ryuga: "Haha, those idiots. They've pissed off someone even I dare not to anger." Ryuga looked at Mystogan and smiled. "Pay attention, Mystogan. This is the power of a human who has defied her race's boundaries."
Mystogan: "'Her'? I don't remember anyone in Magnolia being this powerful! This level of power is beyond even the Ten Wizard Saints!"
Ryuga: "Yes. It wouldn't be incorrect to say that she has achieved something no other human has ever come close to."
Mystogan looked at Ryuga's hands to find them shaking. Whoever this person was, to be able to make even a Demon God weary must be on par with a god of some sort, in terms of might.
The lacrima started to violently glow. This glow was so bright that the onlookers had to shield their eyes from it, but Ryuga's smile never left his face as he stared at the lacrima.

Ryuga: "Behold! The power of the Witch of Wonder!"
The lacrima finally burst, sending shards raining down on the city. Once the light subsided, the spectators watched an old lady with a terrifying smile walkout from the dust. Her eyes were glowing a bright azure color. Even the very ground quivered from her power. Mystogan's eyes widened as he recognized who she was. She was the owner of a small bakery in Magnolia.
Miss May: "I have to say, I'm impressed with the little cage you trapped us in. It took me a bit of time to finally break free. But seriously, if you wanted my magic power, you should have asked. "
She raised her cane towards the sky, and a shower of lights started to pour down towards the ground. The king covered his head and yelled out.
King Faust: "Summon the Dorma Anim!"
A giant robot dragon arose from beneath the castle. This was Dorma Anim, an extremely powerful anti-mage weapon. It launched hundreds of missiles at Miss May, but she didn't move an inch.
Miss May: ""
Within a second, a giant, light shield spread out in front of her and defended against the missiles.
King Faust: "Impossible! Dorma Anim is an ant-mage weapon. Your magic shouldn't be able to defend against it! Guards! Kill her!"
Miss May: ""
Light showered down again, killing the guards in droves, not letting a single escape.
Ryuga: "The reason I said that I dare not to anger her is not because I think she is more powerful than me, but because she has no knowledge of the word 'restraint'." Ryuga and Mystogan both saw innocent civilians getting hurt by debris and other causes of the battle. "As a prince, you're probably worried about the safety of your people. That, I can understand."
Mystogan: "What should we do?"
Ryuga: "Why don't we use this as a publicity stunt?"
Mystogan: "Huh? How do we do that?"
Ryuga: "The Crown Prince saves his people by subjugating the Evil Witch as well as the Evil King."
Mystogan: "If you think I can take her as well as the Dorma Anim, then you're severely mistaken."
Ryuga: "You don't have to. Just try to evacuate your people. I'll take care of Miss May and the Dorma Anim. After the battle, we will just stick with the plan of me being your bodyguard."
Mystogan: "So more like the bodyguard to the crown prince defeats the Evil Witch and Evil King while the benevolent prince leads his people to safety?"
Ryuga: "Haha, that sounds good."
Mystogan: "Good luck."
Ryuga: "Thanks. One more thing, it looks like the Fairy Tail members are waking from their slumber. Make sure they are prepared to fight the King's elite squad, and also, make sure Knightwalker over there is safe."
They both looked down at the still unconscious Knightwalker and sighed.
Mystogan: "There's one problem to that. The Fairy Tail members can't fight without their magic."
Ryuga: "Have you not noticed? Miss May has restored their magic power."
Mystogan: "She can do that!?"
Ryuga: "Yep. Now go!"
Ryuga jumped away and towards the battle. Mystogan started helping citizens get away from the fight, and made sure the Fairy Tail members were okay.
Once Ryuga arrived at the battlefield, he could see that Dorma Anim was struggling to get past Miss May's shield; however, as she said, it was futile. A rocket flew towards him, and he side-stepped it with ease. He raised his hand, but quickly remembered that he couldn't use earthland magic at the current moment.

He decided that he should probably stop Miss May's rampage first, before addressing Dorma Anim. He flew over to her until he was a few meters from her when one of the falling lights grazed his cheek. A small drop of blood dripped from the minor scratch, as Miss May looked towards him with her eyes glowing.
Ryuga: "I think it is time you calm down, Miss May. You're frightening the poor citizens."
Miss May: " This kingdom has endangered not only the place I live but my boy, John, as well. He has become ill due to his magic energy being sucked out of him. He didn't have much in the first place, but this kingdom tried to suck it all anyway. "
Ryuga: "I agree, but the civilians are innocent. You are hurting innocent people."
Miss May: "Those so-called 'innocent' civilians thrive off of stolen magic energy. They are no more innocent than this king."
She looked at King Faust with murderous intent, and the king, looking frightened, commanded Dorma Anim.
King Faust: "Unleash the Spreader Cannon!"
Dorma Anim opened its mouth and unleashed a volley of fire blasts at the two. While Ryuga was distracted, Miss May launched a powerful attack at his back. The attack connected, and Ryuga cried out in pain. Ryuga was flung by the force; he crashed into the palace, crumbling some of it.
Miss May: "Forgive me, Ryuga, but I cannot allow these people to live."
She raised her cane, and the blue lights in the sky started expanding. Mystogan and the citizens looked back in horror at their imminent death. Miss May was ready to unleash a storm of energy that would pulverize the entire kingdom. A blue shield appeared around the Magnolia citizens, including the Fairy Tail members.
Miss May: "This may seem evil, but those who hurt my boy will surely not escape me." Her eyes looked up to the sky, as the lights almost reached their maximum brightness. "Hmm?"
Miss May felt something light touch her foot. She looked down to find a black feather placed on her foot. Her eyes widened, and she noticed something flying in front of her. Before her, was Ryuga with a hand on the back of his neck. His look was.. anything but pleasant. His eyes were emotionless, almost like an endless abyss. He tilted his head a little bit and spoke to Miss May.
Ryuga: "You know that I respect you highly, and I'm willing to overlook your blunder just then. But, tell me, after seeing that feather at your foot... "
Miss May's breath left her, while her heart pounded intensely. She understood very well what a demon's feather at his opponent's feet meant. This action was to symbolize that the demon would fight with the intent to kill if the opponent did not harken immediately. No longer was the person looking at her the cold but kind person she grew to know. The person before her looked like a menacing king demanding authority. Her anger was replaced with reverence and fear at once.
She lowered her staff, with her hands trembling, and the sky returned to its normal color. She gave a light smile as she placed a hand on the back of her head.
Miss May: "Oh deary me, it seems that I let my anger get the better of me... I hope that you can forgive me.. Please?"
Ryuga's face lightened and he chuckled a little bit.
Ryuga: "Of course. Also, please forgive my forcefulness just then. You were just trying to get justice for John, that much, I can understand. Don't worry, I will definitely get justice for him. However, right now, I think it would be best for you to check on him and the rest of Magnolia."
Miss May: "Oh yes! I'll do that right away!"
She walked off, trying to hide her quivering legs. Once he knew that she was not going to retaliate, Ryuga looked back at the Dorma Anim.
Ryuga: "Now, all that's left is you."
King Faust: "Haha! It is nothing but vain! You just threw away your best chance at beating my creation! Magic has no use against my Dorma Anim!" Ryuga snickered a little.
Ryuga: "Maybe most human magic doesn't affect it."
King Faust: "What do you mean by that!?"
Ryuga: "You shall see." He raised a finger and started chanting. "Endless Shadow and Split Moon, I honor you with this kill." Dark energy enveloped his finger. "A Roaring Dragon cries under solitude. Great Sword that cuts even the heavens, indulge in this scene. The enemy is before you! "
He swiped his finger, and the entirety of Dorma Anim, as well as the palace behind it, was split in two. Once he was satisfied with the destruction, he captured King Faust and gave him to Mystogan.
After a very long and stressful day, Crown Prince Jellal was able to become King Jellal. His first order was to banish the former king. He also somehow managed to convince Edolas that they did not need magic. He explained the use of technology and electricity rather than magic. The citizens enjoyed this "new form of magic" named electric technology, and they started inventing new machines and using them in a hurry.
And so, the remaining magic in Edolas was sucked away, allowing the Earthlanders to return home. They finally arrived near Magnolia, which was now back in place, and Natsu started kissing the ground in joy. Apparently, Panther Lily, who was an exceed from Edolas, decided to join Gajeel and came to Earthland. Panther Lily told everyone that he caught a suspicious person, and it turned out to be Lisanna. However, Ryuga had already left the scene.
In Kardia Cathedral, Mirajane and Elfman were standing over their sister's grave, when they heard footsteps walking towards them. Figuring that it was Ryuga, they both looked back but were surprised to find Lisanna running towards them.
Elfman: "L-Lisanna?!"
Lisanna: "It's me! Big brother Elfman, big sister Mira!"
Mirajane: "You're alive!"
The three siblings met in the middle and embraced each other as they cried tears of joy. What they didn't know, was that two people were watching them from a nearby hill. On that hill, Ryuga and Miss May were sitting on the grass together, eating a pastry. Ryuga smiled as he looked at the family's reunion.
Miss May: "Why didn't you meet her yet?"
Ryuga: "It would have been selfish of me to have a reunion with her before her own family, don't you think?"
Miss May: "Aw, aren't you sweet?" They both chuckled a little.
Ryuga: "...How's John?"
Miss May: "He'll survive. It wasn't fatal. With me looking after him, he will probably be up and running by the end of the week."
Ryuga: "That's good."
There was a silence for a little while.
Miss May: "Hey.."
Ryuga: "Hmm?"
Miss May: "Thanks for calming me down."
Ryuga: "Haha, it was no problem."
Miss May: "I let my emotions get the better of me.. again."
Ryuga: "No one is perfect, Miss May. As long as you realize your mistakes, you can work on fixing them."
Miss May: "You know, for such a youngster, you sure are pretty wise."
Ryuga: "Hey! I'm older than you!"
They both had a light chuckle before Ryuga turned back to the siblings. He figured that he'd let the siblings have a good night and meet Lisanna tomorrow.
Ryuga: "It must be nice to have siblings..."
Miss May: "I wouldn't know."
Ryuga: "Yeah. Neither would I." There was a silence while Ryuga thought to himself. "I wonder if Aosoth and Yzelo made their baby yet."

The Animo Saga
Before history was well-recorded in the world of Ulakam, primordial animal spirits adopted humans, provided protection and developed deep spiritual connections with them. Millennia later, humans now host animal spirits and are split into tribes named for the species they host. Ulakam is slowly being consumed by a decades-long war pitting the main tribes against the smaller tribes and a group of bandits calling themselves "the resistance". Callida Animo was born into this world. Coming from a mixed family of generational soldiers, Callida joined the family business at a young age. In her words, she was practically bred, born, and raised to be a soldier. And she's good at what she does... which inevitably attracts attention that makes her unambitious self extremely uncomfortable. Love, loss, influence and growth. This is her story. Written episodically, this story focuses on relationships and character growth through a series of mini-arcs that connect to make a greater whole. (Honestly, the story would lend itself well to a TV series.) "Episodes" range from 3-7 chapters (at least so far), and average about 4 or 5 chapters. Author's note: I'm always thrilled to receive comments, follows, ratings/reviews, messages.... All forms of feedback are welcome and encouraged. However, I have no interest in begging readers for more engagement to get better visibility. I tried that with my last story and found the game soul-sucking. So! This constitutes my only self-promotion request. If you are reading this story, let me know what you think! I love engaging with my readers. We'll see if growing the readership organically is even possible. Thank you! 😘 Release schedule: Weekly on Wednesday afternoons
