October. The tenth month of the year where tree leaves begin to turn into various shades of orange, yellow, red, and brown--detaching themselves from their branches and gliding down to the ground. A month where the season of autumn begins and is most commonly known for Halloween.

"All right. Next item on the agenda. I moved to discuss what the class plans will be for next week." Class 1-A's chairman, Kazukiyo Soga, inaugurated as he stood in front of the classroom next to a female who was writing on the blackboard with white chalk.

Kazukiyo had dark ash-brown hair and slate-grey colored eyes. He owned prescription glasses that were over his organ of sight.

Y/n and Haruhi, who were sitting on their chair in front of their desks that were in between the Hitachiin twins, shared a look with one another. "Next week?" They mumbled in question.

"Yeah, Halloween." Hikaru winked, leaning himself closer towards Haruhi as he raised his index finger.

"Oh Haruhi, Y/n, you've only been students at Ouran Academy since high school, right?" The female standing beside Kazukiyo glanced over her shoulder to stare back at the two said siblings, holding a chalkboard eraser in her hand. "So you two don't know." The vice-chairman of class 1-A, Momoka Kurakano, turned around. "After we've finished taking our exams for the fall, we're allowed a few days off until the end of October. And we get to throw costume parties on campus to celebrate."

Momoka had long brown hair that has wavy bangs hanging over her eyebrows with two distinctive buns on either side of her head and large brown eyes.

"And also, to promote camaraderie, each class is allowed to use an entire day for a special class event of their choosing." Kazukiyo further stated with a small, polite smile.

"Event?" The sisters repeated.

Kaoru leaned towards Y/n in close proximity with his index finger set upright. "Right. They're pretty fun actually."

"Yeah, we socialize or watch some old movies." Hikaru's lips formed into a limited grin. "Stuff like that."

"Boring! Boring! Boring!"

The twins, Y/n, and Haruhi jolted due to a loud, feminine, high pitched voice abruptly shouting from behind them.

"Halloween. The day that sounds the death knell of summer and ushers in the icy breath of winter. Halloween. Once a day when ghouls walked the earth and disguised as ghouls we tried to ward them all off. Halloween. A day for wearing costumes and playing pranks on trick-or-treaters with reckless abandon." Renge announced while standing on a desk as she made a peace sign with one hand that was near her chin and her other arm was extended behind her. Instead of wearing the usual pale-yellow dress, she was clothed in a pink and white school uniform from pop culture.

"Some people don't wait for Halloween to dress up." Hikaru stated, referring to the many times when Renge wore costumes that weren't on the day of Halloween as he and his brother stood behind Y/n and Haruhi's chair.

"Some people cosplay year round." Kaoru added.

"I know that's right." Haruhi agreed. "So, what's with the uniform?" She examined the dark blond haired female's attire.

Out of nowhere, Renge took out a remote and pressed a button, acting like time was rewinding. "Just between us, this is the female uniform in 'Uki-doki Memorial Two,' which isn't scheduled to release until next spring. What do you think?" Renge clarified and swiftly returned to the pose she was in before. "I know important people on the inside, if you catch my drift."

The twins, Y/n, and Haruhi sweat dropped and released a small groan.

Kazukiyo slid towards the optimistic female, holding a clipboard in his hands. "Miss Hoshakuji, we're having homeroom now. Could you get down off the desk please?"

Renge ignored the class representative of class 1-A and displayed an expression of adventure, clutching her hand into a fist. "Tea parties and cosplay? The Host Club does that practically non-stop!" She aimed her index finger upwards while she held a purple shaded microphone in her other hand. "What our Halloween requires is something special!" Her hands rested on either of her cheeks as a heavenly closed eyed smile materialized on her face.

"Um, we're supposed to decide this as a class." Kazukiyo articulated, courteously holding up his hand as his facial features expressed slight unease.

"So I propose holding a Halloween Test-of-Courage Tournament!" Renge publicized enthusiastically, disregarding the young man with dark ash-brown hair. "The bravest student wins!"

Kazukiyo's face paled as his eyes widened, Y/n being the only one who noticed his sudden consternation. "Uhm, are you okay?" She asked, but he remained immobile.

Hikaru placed his thumb and the knuckle of his index finger on his chin, a modest smirk on his lips. "A test-of-courage-"

"-tournament, you say?" Kaoru finished with his elbow on his brother's shoulder, amusement flashing in their amber colored eyes.

"Here's what we'll do." Renge began to explain. "We'll ask the superintendent to give us access to the school after hours, when it's dark. Then we'll all dress up in our freakiest costumes and proceed to have the time of our lives scaring the absolute crap out of each other!"

The twins chuckled. "Yeah! We're in!" Their faces were suddenly replaced with a dark, eerie smirk.

"I really like the part about-" Hikaru began.

"-it being dark." Kaoru settled.

"That sounds awesome." A male student in the classroom commented as murmurs of excitement filled the room.

"The school is so spooky at night."

"Oh, I'm getting so many great ideas for this!"

"We can all take turns being scared, and later get our chance to scare someone else!"

"It sounds fun." Y/n smiled as she looked at Haruhi. "I am honestly getting a little excited about this."

"Well now why don't we think this through everyone." Kazukiyo held up a trembling hand as he stood in front of the class once more. "We can't all go individually. We should be in teams of at least three or four."

"Yeah, teams would be scarier!" Momoka pointed out with a sweet smile, making Kazukiyo's hand shake even more.

A shadow casted over Hikaru's eyes as he grinned mischievously, holding up his index finger. "And anybody who leaves-"

"-gets featured on the front page of the school newspaper as 'The Captain of All Cowards'." Kaoru challenged in a taunting tone.

"Seconded!" The whole class acceded while raising their hand, excluding Haruhi, Y/n, and Kazukiyo.

Y/n did find the idea of having a test-of-courage tournament quite entertaining. However, she just didn't agree with having someone on the front page of the school's newspaper just because they got frightened--she didn't find that amusing.

Kazukiyo looked like he was about to faint before he calmed himself down. "Um. Alright then, are there any objections to the majority vote?" He questioned, gazing at a pair of two certain brown haired siblings. "Are there any at all?"

Y/n and Haruhi didn't utter a single word as silence lingered in the classroom.

"Is anyone opposed to the idea?" The class chairman persisted.

No one in the classroom spoke up. Kazukiyo didn't take his eyes off of Haruhi and Y/n, not even for a minute, hoping that they'll acknowledge the desperation in his eyes--yet all the sisters saw was a blank faced class representative.

"Come on, anyone?"

No one said anything, not even the two sisters that Kazukiyo was relying on.

His shoulders slumped in an enfeebled manner, his aura practically representing grey clouds and heavy rain. "Oh very well. Then the motion passes unanimously. The class 1-A event for this year will be a special Halloween Test-of-Courage Tournament."

The classroom erupts in cheers as most of the students clapped their hands joyously. Hikaru and Kaoru had a hand on both Y/n and Haruhi's head as the oldest Hitachiin twin showed a thumbs up at their class representative.

Hikaru, Kaoru, Y/n, and Haruhi finally arrived to music room three. The entire room was decorated in Halloween decor to set the theme of All Hallows' Eve as the hosts wore vampire costumes, including the fake vampire fangs.

"Hello." The twins greeted Kyoya, Honey, and Mori as they slid in front of them, Y/n and Haruhi standing in between the two auburn haired brothers.

Tamaki moved his gaze away from one of his guests and onto the four first years who just made an appearance. "Why are you guys late? Hurry up and change."

"Sorry boss." Hikaru apologized falsely with a closed eyed grin. "But from now until Halloween-"

Kaoru copied his brothers expression. "-count us out."

"Okay?" The twins finalized in unison.

"What?" The blond haired male gasped.

"Count you out?" Honey quizzed.

"We're on the preparation committee for a special event. Class 1-A is sponsoring it." The twins acquainted, placing their hands on their hips.

"Duty calls then." Kyoya dismissed in a disinterested tone.

Hikaru gripped onto Haruhi while Kaoru escorted Y/n, gliding to the side. "Good luck without us here for a week." The twins held up a hand in farewell.

"You have fun." Honey smiled and waved his hand at the four first years.

"Hold on!" Tamaki called out to them, holding his hand up apprehensively. "Why is Haruhi and Y/n going?"

Hikaru turned his head to glance back at his upperclassman with a dark, mocking smirk. "Well boss, they are in our class you know."

Kaoru looked over his shoulder to stare at the blond haired male, an unearthly smirk on his lips. "Oh. The special event is an after dark Test-of-Courage Tournament."

Tamaki's jaw dropped as sweat appeared on his forehead. "After...dark...?" He trailed off as his body swayed, a scenario assembling in his head where the two Fujioka sisters get afraid and use the Hitachiin twins as protection.

"Haruhi, Y/n." He weakly began, flinching back. "You're not going to take part in this are you? For decency's sake, tell me you won't!"

Haruhi held up her hand, a small, reassuring smile on her lips. "Calm down, Senpai. It's just some harmless fun."

"Yeah. I'm actually looking forward to it." Y/n disclosed with a small smile.

"Harmless... They think it's harmless?" Tamaki muttered and covered his eyes with his hands exaggeratedly. "Oh why me?" He grabbed Haruhi and Y/n by their shoulder. "You won't go! You can't...Daddy doesn't like it."

"Okay, time to go now." Hikaru interjected with a grin and guided the two sisters back towards the door.

"Boss, adieu!" The twins said their farewells as they disappeared through the double-doors with Y/n and Haruhi.

"Wait! I could be a valuable asset to the planning committee!" Tamaki attempted to convince as he extended his arm out, but the four first years were already gone. "Let me come too!"

An unpleasant laugh filled the room, making Tamaki flinch and rotate around, his violet eyes associating with a coffin that was a part of the decorations in the music room.

The coffin door suddenly opened, revealing a certain individual who loves darkness and has a cat hand-puppet on his hand.

"Nekozawa-Senpai, when did you...?" Tamaki trailed off nervously as he sweat dropped.

"Well now, isn't that interesting." The figure wearing the black cloak mildly moved his cat hand-puppet, Belzenef. "What was that? You think it sounds like fun, Belzenef? You may just be on to something there. If it's fear they want, the Black Magic Club will be happy to oblige. After all what's Halloween without a healthy dose of pure unadulterated terror?" He laughed eerily.

The coffin door closed back up, leaving a slightly terrified Tamaki.

In class 1-A, Haruhi, Y/n, Renge, the twins, and Momoka were surrounding a desk while they discussed the plans for the test-of-courage tournament.

"So, what kind of budget-limit should we put on costumes?" Momoka started. "Once everyone starts shopping, they'll go all out."

"Why don't we follow the commoner's rule of keeping it under three-hundred yen?" Hikaru recommended.

"That should make things interesting." Kaoru agreed.

"It would be a good idea to have a doctor handy, just in case anyone faints or has a heart attack or jumps out of a window, or something." Renge chimes in.

"Okay, so under three-hundred yen, needs a doctor present." Kaoru began to repeat the things they just discussed in order. "Hey, are we going to have food?"

Something outside of the classroom caught Y/n and Haruhi's attention. Standing behind the door, waving at the two sisters was Kazukiyo.

The Fujioka siblings stood up from where they were sitting on the windowsill and walked towards their class representative. He crouched down behind a small pedestal that had a flowerpot on top of it, his knees were pulled up to his chest. The two sisters looked at each other in confusion, but crouched down in front of Kazukiyo anyway.

"So...what's up?" Y/n initiated with a small smile.

Kazukiyo then quickly began to explain how he has a severe phobia and that he was uncomfortable with the tournament the class decided on.

"You have Nyctophobia?" Haruhi questioned. "So you're afraid of the dark?"

"Yes and you can add to that horror-movie-phobia, scary-ghost-story-phobia, being-startled-by-a-loud-noise-in-the-other-room-phobia, and accidentally-seeing-trailers-for-horror-movies-phobia." The dark ash-brown haired male described anxiously. "And what's with those things? Why do they keep showing them without warning us about it first? It just doesn't make sense to me. Whatever happened to civil rights for the fraidy-cats out there? Cowards are people too! And what about the other classes with their tea parties? It's just so unfair!"

"Class-rep, calm down." Y/n vocalized with small beads of sweat on her forehead.

"Oh my, I'm sorry." Kazukiyo apologized timidly, lowering his voice.

"If you were opposed to the idea from the start, why didn't you just bring it up in the meeting?" Haruhi inquired.

"Yeah, you could've just said that you weren't up for it." Y/n told him feebly.

"I tried to. But I don't want to look like I'm throwing my weight around up there. So I was counting on both of your help to save me!" Kazukiyo exclaimed in panic.

"Please, calm down." Haruhi scolded lightly.

"I'm sorry." He squeaked out.

"How exactly were we supposed to save you?" Haruhi asked with a small, nervous smile.

"I was desperately giving you two signs to oppose the motion while it was up for vote, but you just didn't seem interested." Kazukiyo responded with his head laying on his knees.

Y/n remembered how he was looking at her and Haruhi during the vote, suddenly feeling bad for the class chairman. She didn't know that he wanted them to speak up at that moment.

Silent tears rolled down his cheeks. "If just one person objects, then it goes up for discussion."

"W-We're sorry, Class-rep. We didn't know." Y/n apologized, putting her hands up in a remorseful manner.

"Please Fujioka's. You have to let me be on your team." Kazukiyo begged desperately. "If I'm with you two, then maybe your peace of mind will help me. And I can remain more calm!"

"Class-rep!" Haruhi and Y/n whisper-shouted, making the said male calm his nerves.

"And one more thing," Kazukiyo began quietly, putting a hand next to his mouth, "you can't tell the Hitachiin brothers."

"Is someone a fraidy-cat?" The pair of auburn haired twins appeared out of nowhere, crouching down beside the Fujioka siblings and Kazukiyo with a wide, dark grin.

There was a moment of silence before the dark ash-brown haired student with slate-grey eyes jumped up at the window, screaming and clawing at the glass.

"Oh, there you are." A soft voice sounded throughout the hallway as the person exited class 1-A, causing Kazukiyo to halt his movements. "We're about to choose groups. So do you have any idea who you'd like to have on your team?" Momoka asked with a gentle, closed eyed smile.

"Yeah, the five of us'll be one!" The twins grinned widely, wrapping their arms around Kazukiyo, Y/n, and Haruhi.

"Great." She started to write down the group on her clipboard. "But there can only be groups of three or four. I guess this can be an exception since there's an uneven amount of students in our class, and I'm sure Haruhi would like to have his sister on his team, and I think Y/n would like that as well." She smiled kindly. "Then you guys are Team B, alright?"

"Sounds like fun, right Class-rep?" The twins teased with a smirk, making the said student sweat drop and quiver.

"It's all over now." Haruhi muttered, hunching her shoulders.

Y/n nodded steadily. "Poor kid is gonna go through hell during the tournament."
