"Oh Marianne," Benio placed a hand on the middle of her chest as she recited her script, "how many lonely nights have I prayed that we would be together again? And how many times, have the powers that be demanded that we remain apart? That our love is forbidden?"
"Oh my Lord Frederick." Haruhi spoke, standing in front of the cropped, brown haired female.
Benio tumbled back on the floor of the rehearsal room exaggeratedly, pretending to be on the verge of death, using her elbow to keep her upper body up. "I'm slain by this fatal gunshot wound. Alas, I'm to draw breath no more." She specified as Haruhi kneeled down next to her and placed one of her hands behind Benio while the other one laid on the young woman's hand that was on the middle of her chest.
"My Lord Frederick."
Benio closed her olive-green eyes as she rested her head on Haruhi. "Marianne. With your arms holding me close, all this pain becomes naught. I am overwhelmed with peace. Lovely angel." She continued as five females moved behind them with one of their arms raised elegantly. "Your gaze is my paradise and you are the very image of my beloved mother."
As Benio trailed off and proceeded on with her lines, Y/n wondered as she leaned against the wall, staring at the scene in front of her. 'For someone who should be dying, they sure are talking a lot.'
"My Lord Frederick." Haruhi repeated as the five dancers behind them twirled.
Meanwhile, the male members of the Host Club and the father of Haruhi and Y/n were crouched down in front of the sizable window, crouched down in front of it so they wouldn't get caught. Six out of the seven men were wearing light pink t-shirts that supported the Zuka Club--the individual who didn't participate in wearing the fan club shirt was the brownish-grey eyed second year student, Kyoya Ootori.
"Can you see them? What're they doing?" Honey questioned, tugging on the back of Tamaki's shirt since he was positioned in front of his view.
The blond haired male began to answer his upperclassman's question, keeping his violet eyes on the rehearsal. "It looks as though Haruhi's playing the heroine of some sentimental tragedy while Y/n's standing in the corner. But...-"
"My Lord Frederick." They heard Haruhi say once again.
"She sounds like a robot." Tamaki, the twins, and Ranka slouched their shoulders as they hung their head down low. "A boring daikon radish."
"Even as her father, I can't stand this." Tears streamed down Ranka's face as his hands rested on his cheeks.
"Someone please make her stop." Hikaru chimed in, avoiding eye contact with the practice session.
"How many times is she going to repeat that line?" Tamaki examined as Haruhi spoke the name of the character who Benio was portraying as.
Kaoru noticed Haruhi stand up from her kneeling position and place her hand on the middle of her chest. "I think she's about to start singing."
"No!" Ranka blurted out in dread, the tips of his fingers pressing into the skin of his cheeks. "Her grades in music have always been absolutely awful! Why isn't Y/n singing instead?!"
They all became paralyzed as Haruhi moved her lips and soft words sounded throughout the room, making Tamaki, Hikaru, Kaoru, and Ranka stare at her in slight shock and admiration.
"Here in this moment, I am losing nothing,
Even if you leave me, I won't be alone.

Because love has taught me,
That this life is still worth living,
Empty skies above can't stop me-"
Suddenly, the music along with the singing stopped as Haruhi's lips continued moving, but no words escaped the young woman's throat, making Tamaki, the twins, and Ranka confused.
"Oh I'm sorry, my foot got tangled in the cord." Hinako smiled sheepishly, scratching the back of her head with her hand as she waved her other one.
"Be careful." Chizuru lightly scolded as she plugged the cord back into the outlet in the wall. She pressed a button on the radio player and the music and singing voice filled the room once more.
"Ah, she's lip-synching." Ranka mumbled as he, Tamaki, and the twins sweat dropped.
"Lip-synching?" Honey replicated.
"Now that I think about it, that voice sounds a lot like Y/n's." Ranka thought aloud with his index finger on his chin. "When she was younger she had always loved being a part of school plays that her elementary school would put on. She would always sing and dance around the living room like it was her very own concert." He smiled softly at the fond memory.
"Wait a minute. Y/n can sing?" The twins inquired.
Ranka nodded his head. "Yes. That's her voice that Haruhi is lip-synching to. Y/n has always been interested in music ever since she was able to walk and talk. When she was younger, she had this dream of becoming an actress on Broadway when she grows up, but that all changed once her and Haruhi's mother passed away." He looked down crestfallenly. "She now wants to become a doctor so she can help people and cure others from their illnesses, but I know that deep down she still has the dream of being on a big stage--singing and acting her heart out. Whenever she says that becoming a doctor is her new goal in life, it sounds like she's trying to convince herself more than others. I'm her father, and I will always support whatever my children want to do with their life, but I just don't want my daughter's to make decisions that they might regret forever."
Y/n directed her eyes away from Haruhi and Benio and glanced towards the window due to feeling like someone was watching her. Her brown eyes faintly widened as soon as she spotted her father and the rest of the Host Club. Ranka, Tamaki, and the twins flinched once Y/n caught sight of them.
She held a look of confusion, pondering why they were there. She sneakingly stepped out of the rehearsal room with no one noticing and began to make her way outside to where Ranka and the other hosts were located, not realizing that a certain raven haired male with glasses was nowhere to be seen.
"What are you guys doing here-?"
"Y/n!" Tamaki, Ranka, the twins, and Honey greeted blissfully.
"Hey newbies!" A raspy, feminine voice called out from behind them.
They turned around and encountered a group of girls that were clothed in the same light pink t-shirt that Tamaki, Ranka, the twins, Mori, and Honey were wearing.
"If you want to be part of the Benibara Fan Club, you have to follow the rules! Now up on your feet!" The female with glasses and straight, chin length, dark hair commanded, her hands on her hips as she made the hosts stand up straight. "To be a full-fledged member your conduct must be beyond reproach at all times. Now, altogether. With enthusiasm. Let me hear those fan club mantras!"

Ranka pulled Y/n behind him before he and the other five young men stood face-to-face with the females who praised the Zuka Club.
"Lady Benibara, please hang in there for your adoring fans today!" They all chanted, except for Y/n. "Lady Benibara, you look magnificent! Lady Benibara, please hang in there for your adoring fans today!"
Y/n stared at the hosts and her father with a slightly unsettled look. 'How do they know this chant...?'
Tamaki leaned closer to Ranka and whispered as everyone continued to repeat the incantations. "Okay, now that we're in, what's the rest of your plan?"
"Blend in." Ranka began, almost as if his response was an obvious one. "If you want to get close to the Zuka Club, you've got to prove you're a diehard fan. And watch yourself, these girls get pretty competitive. Even more than you could imagine."
The female with glasses slowly clapped her hands as she walked between the Host Club and the Fan Club.
"Right. Let's give it a rest."
Honey and the twins collapsed onto the ground in exhaustion, leaning their backs against one another.
"Glad to have you, newbies!" A girl with black hair smiled kindly as she and her friend approached the six men and the female with shoulder length, wavy hair.
"What do you like most about Lady Benibara?" The girl with short, walnut-brown hair asked.
Tamaki let out a stutter, not knowing what to respond with. Before he could look suspicious, Ranka went in between them with a closed eyed smile and a small blush, a hand on his cheek as his other one waved admirably.
"Oh, only everything! The way she walks and sings and the way she looks in coattails." He chuckled energetically. "Why even the shape of her head!" He finished, making the two girls giggle.
"He's a professional." Tamaki and the twins commented, vaguely sweat dropping. "He's got blending in with the ladies down to an art."
"I'm just so excited to see the play." The female with black hair brought her hands together and placed them below her right cheek. "It's supposed to be a tragedy."
"It's called 'The Señorita's Love' Lord Frederick fakes his own suicide as revenge against his father for coming between he and his lover, Marianne. But the gun he uses, supposedly filled with blanks, is actually filled with live rounds." The girl with walnut-brown hair described with her hands interlocked together.
"Oh, that's so terrible." The other girl removed an invisible tear from her right eye using the knuckle of her index finger.
The short haired girl placed her thumb and the knuckle of her index finger on her chin. "I have my suspicions about the girl playing Marianne, though."
"Whoever she is. If she ruins Lady Benibara's play," the girl with glasses pointed her finger in a direction, making the others look at where she was signaling, "our very own Maiden Warriors will be waiting patiently in the wings to 'critique' her performance." She released a dark chuckle as the hosts and Ranka observed four female students in the distance who had their mouths covered with a white cloth and was accompanied with rope chains and other items that could be used for violence.
Y/n stared at the four mysterious girls before looking at the female with glasses. She gazed at her like they were deranged. "What the hell...?"
Tamaki and Ranka's mouth became agape in terror as Honey and the twins got up from the ground.
"If Haruhi has to put on a performance in front of these psychos, she'll be done for!" Hikaru stated in alarm.
"They'll beat the daylights out of her!" Honey added.
"Haruhi!" Ranka cried out with both of his hands against his cheeks.
"Don't you worry." Tamaki began and changed his face to appear stern and determined as his voice deepened. "We're going to get her out of that place."
- - - -
The six members of the Host Club and Ranka snuck into Lobelia Academy's auditorium, having to get through a bunch of girls that were waiting to enter first.
"And yet--even as we speak--the curtain's rising is nearly upon us." Tamaki narrated using the low tone from before as his facial expression was the same.
The small group hid behind a row of theatre chairs as they watched people prepare the stage for the production, not perceiving that a certain member of the Zuka Club was staring down at them from the loge.
"So you've wormed your way in after all. You vulgar, incompetent Host Club. And you were even able to take one of our angels from us." Benio mumbled with a small smirk as she directed her eyes to the wavy, brown haired female. She then turned around and began to walk towards the two other Zuka Club members and Haruhi, her arms extended outwards. "My dears, it's almost time. Now I'm counting on you. Remember I want us to think of today as our audition for 'The Crimson Goddess'."
Ranka looked at the teenagers beside him, finally noticing that someone was missing from their group. "Hold on. Where'd Kyoya run off to?"
The others quietly glanced around and eventually confirmed to themselves that the second year, raven haired student was nowhere to be seen.
"Now that you mention it, I haven't seen him in a while." Tamaki established.
Honey turned his small body around and pointed up at a panned glass window that showed Kyoya walking alongside a woman. "Hey look! He's up there!"
Tamaki and the twins sweat dropped once their gaze landed on the second year student. "That jackass..." The blond haired male muttered.
"He moves quickly." Kaoru remarked in a silent tone.
The woman that was conducting Kyoya was showing him the control panel for the stage. She pressed a button and a projector screen slowly descended from above the stage ceiling.
"It looks like that woman is showing him how to control the lights and stage effects." Y/n indicated to the others.
The projector screen showed four different images as the woman clicked through random pictures. The first one was a view of a city during the evening, the second one was a desert, the third one was a image of a tropical island that displayed the ocean, and the final one was a close up of a monkey's face.
Y/n furrowed her eyebrows in question at the last image. "What the...?"
Suddenly, the doors to the theatre opened, allowing a stampede of girls to enter. The huge crowd of females promptly and excitedly sat down on the chairs that were provided.
Before the scattering crowd of girls could trample the Ouran Academy students and Ranka, they quickly moved to the side of the auditorium and pressed themselves against the wall. Ranka held Y/n's hand tightly so his daughter wouldn't go away from him and mix into the swarm of young women.
The hosts and Ranka stayed in the sidelines as the lights to the theatre turned off, all the Lobelia students were seated in the row of chairs.
"At this point, we'll just have to rescue Haruhi mid-show." Tamaki whispered, clenching his fist in determination.
Music sounded throughout the auditorium as the production started and Y/n instantly recognized the melody of one of the songs that she had to sing.
As the audience of females clapped their hands, Mori said, "here's her entrance."
A pink spotlight lit up the center of the stage, shining down on Haruhi as she stood there in a ballgown-like, bubblegum-pink dress, wearing two curly hair extensions that were closer to the back of her head.
She began to lip sync the song that Y/n recorded earlier. The six members of the Host Club and Ranka couldn't focus on anything else but Haruhi's face.
Y/n cringed at the extreme amount of makeup that was on her sister's face as the others had a look of horror.
"Heavy!" Tamaki exclaimed, referring to the various face products that were used on Haruhi's face. "Your makeup's too heavy, Haruhi!"
"I can't bear to see her like this." The twins uttered as they silently cried with Honey.
"Enough! I'm getting her out of here right-"
"Wait a minute." Ranka stopped Tamaki by putting a hand on his shoulder. "Just look at her up there. She's so much more radiant than she was in rehearsal."
"Well, her cheeks are rosier." Tamaki observed with his thumb and index finger below his chin.
"That'd be the makeup." Hikaru informed in a whisper.
Tamaki continued. "And her skin looks like it's glowing."
"That'd be the lights." Kaoru stated.
"You're right." The blond haired male agreed with Ranka. "We can't interfere in the middle of her performance. She's having the time of her life. Let her have her moment." He shrugged his hands out and leaned against the wall, crossing his arms over his chest. "We can sneak her out of here afterwards."
Y/n smiled softly at him and patted his shoulder with her right hand.
"Oh, and Y/n, you sound amazing." Tamaki endorsed with a small, sincere smile, looking down at the brown haired girl.
A look of confusion flashed across her face as she scrunched her eyebrows, removing her hand from her upperclassman's shoulder. "Huh? What do you mean?"
"Your singing." Honey mentioned as he stood next to her. "You can sing really well, Y/n-Chan." He smiled as Mori nodded in agreement.
"Oh. Um, how do you know if that's me who's singing?" Y/n quizzed. "It could be Haruhi, you know."
"Your father told us-" Hikaru began.
"-when we first listened to it while spying on the rehearsal near the window." Kaoru continued. "We did believe that it was Haruhi at first, until Ranka told us that it was actually you."
Y/n looked over at her father, who had a gentle expression on his face. He placed a hand on her cheek, softly caressing it with his thumb. "You do sound fantastic, sweetheart. Don't let your talent go to waste."
Y/n glanced down at her shoes with an emotionless expression but her eyes held despair and and slight courage, knowing the meaning behind his words. She placed her hand on top of her fathers and carefully moved it away from her cheek, a small smile forming on her lips as she looked at the stage. "Thanks guys, but like what Tamaki-Senpai said, this is Haruhi's time to shine."

Another song came to an end and more dialogue started, the production almost coming to an end as Benio's death scene began.
Haruhi stood in front of Benio as she began to say her line. "Oh my Lord Frederick!"
The cropped brown haired female collapsed on the floor, reenacting the segment that was practiced earlier in the rehearsal room.
"I am slain by this fatal gunshot wound. Alas, I'm to draw breath no more." Benio recited her script as Haruhi kneeled down next to her and cradled her head.
"My Lord Frederick!"
"Marianne. With your arms holding me close, all this pain becomes naught." Her olive-green eyes were closed as Haruhi's hand was placed over hers that were on the middle of her chest. "My soul is overwhelmed with peace. Lovely angel, you're gaze is my paradise and you are the very image of my beloved mother."
As Benio spoke her line and the five female dancers made their way behind her and Haruhi, some girls that were sitting in the theatre began to whisper about an upcoming kissing scene.
"The kiss scene is coming up!" One female whisper-yelled.
"But the scene falls just short of their embrace, right?"
"Of course. Lady Benibara would never actually kiss her."
The whispers coming from the majority of girls caught Tamaki's attention. "Kiss scene?" He whispered and remembered the plot that the two girls from before shared. He hummed in thought as his thumb and index finger relaxed on his chin. "Kiss scene? Revenge?" He violet eyes turned back to the stage.
"Ah, and yet-- The love I bear for you, and the desire I have for revenge--are not things which can so simply be forgotten." Benio opened her eyes and smoothly made eye contact with Tamaki from the corner of her eye, a small smirk coming upon her lips.
All of a sudden, one by one, three spotlights were aimed on the six hosts and Ranka, making them jolt with every spotlight that turned on.

*Note: This story is on hiatus. I intend to pick it up again, but the mood of my life has shifted for the time being and I'm going to be working on a side project for a bit.* What would you give to live the life of your dreams? What kind of deal would you make? And when you were there, forced to stare your dreams in the eye and live them every day, how long would it be... before they broke you? Author's note: This is my first excursion outside the realm of villain fan fiction and I welcome feedback. The thing I've loved most about RRL so far is the potential for writing to be an interactive experience with excited readers. That said, also, the primary genre this is intended for is the blossoming realm of LitRPG. Namely, a slice of life tale in the manner of Grimgar or Re:Zero. So, likewise, I don't expect there will ever be a clear beginning-middle-and-end type of pattern to this story. It will likewise always be a bit more of a reactionary, exploratory novel into realms unknown - much like the 1800 travel-novel theme used by Jules Verne. Or, at least, that is my ambition.
