"It's a beautiful day today." Y/n mumbled to herself as she looked up at the blue sky, a soft smile tugging on her lips.
The Host Club we're doing their club activities in the outdoor garden that was made to look as if it might have appeared during the Heian era. The hosts are dressed in ensembles from the Heian era of Japanese history.
"It is, isn't it?"
Y/n slightly jumped at the voice that sounded from behind her. She turned around and saw who the familiar voice belonged to.
Kyoya had his back leaned up against a tree as he wrote notes in his black notebook. "I apologize. It wasn't my intention to startle you." He atoned, glancing up from his notebook to display a small, closed eyed smirk.
"It's fine." Y/n sighed. "Shouldn't you be talking with the girls?" She questioned with a raised eyebrow, referring to the female customers that were around the garden.
"I should be asking you the same question. I don't have any guests to attend to at the moment. I have already discussed the new picture magazines of the Host Club to them." Kyoya slickly replied, adjusting his glasses which made the lenses glare brightly, hiding his brownish-grey eyes. "What about you? Shouldn't you be entertaining your customers?"
"I finished a while ago." She acquainted. "I don't have anymore-"
"HARUHI! DUCK!"
Y/n immediately directed her eyes towards the loud voice of a certain blond haired male with violet eyes. All she saw was Tamaki tackling her sister into some bushes and a ball the size of a baseball bouncing past it.
Y/n's eyes widened and her mouth was agape. "Oh my god." She quickly advanced towards the bushes to check if her sister was hurt, leaving Kyoya where he stood. "Haruhi. Haruhi, are you okay?" She questioned with concern in her tone but the only response that Y/n got was a groan from her older sister.
Tamaki got to his feet, removing himself off of Haruhi. His fists clenched in irritation as he presented an angry scowl on his face. "Hikaru! You came this close to snuffing out the light of Haruhi's life!"
Y/n helped her sister get out of the bushes and dusted the dirt off her clothes. She also detached some leaves that ended up in her brown hair extensions.
"Hey! It's your fault for not catching the ball in the first place, boss." Hikaru excused indifferently, standing next to his brother as they held their hands up in a shrug.
"Yeah. Who knew that he'd be so bad at kemari." Kaoru further stated as he turned to look at his brother who was staring back at him. "So much for him being the Genji of Ouran Academy."
An irk mark appeared on Tamaki's head. "What?! You wanna say that to my face, you perverted punks!"
"And what? We're not afraid to say it to your face." The twins maintained confidence.
Y/n moderately rolled her eyes at Tamaki and the twins' behavior as they continued to bicker with each other, she then looked at Haruhi who stood in front of her. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah." Haruhi answered with an airy grunt while rubbing the back of her head with her hand. "Still getting over the initial shock of getting tackled."
"That was pretty unexpected." Y/n commented as she fixed Haruhi's hair extensions that were disheveled.
"You think so?" Tamaki challenged Hikaru and Kaoru due to what they said. "Well, check this out!" He had a spark of determination in his violet eyes as the ball from before was positioned near his foot. "Starlight Kick!" The blond haired male propelled the small ball vigorously with his foot that it traveled towards the school building.

"Take care of yourself!" The twins vocalized as they waved a handkerchief in the direction of where the ball went.
Y/n vaguely grimaced as she watched the ball glide through the air rapidly. "I hope I'm wrong, but I think that ball's going to break a window."
Haruhi held a deadpanned expression on her face as her attention was on the flying ball. "I honestly wouldn't be surprised if it did."
- - - -
And sure enough--the ball that Tamaki kicked broke the window to the Newspaper Club and resulted in the ball getting pitched into the head of the club's president.
The Host Club now stood in the clubroom of the Newspaper Club, standing in front of a desk that had three boys behind it--one sitting on a chair and the two other males standing on either side of him. The one sitting down on the chair was the president of the club. He had above shoulder length, chestnut-brown, straight hair and glasses that rested on his nose. The young man standing on the right side of the club's president had a bowl cut that covered his eyes. The third male that was standing behind the desk had short brown hair that was parted in the middle.
"Really. We're terribly sorry about that." Tamaki sincerely apologized as he showed a small bow, Kyoya stationed beside him.
Y/n, Haruhi, Honey, and Mori were carefully cleaning up the shattered glass from the window that was on the floor as Hikaru and Kaoru stood a few feet behind Tamaki and Kyoya while looking at a newspaper.
"Don't worry--it's no big deal. Could've happened to anyone, right? Just a ball flying through a window and hitting me upside the head." The president of the Newspaper Club, Akira Komatsuzawa, conveyed with a small closed eyed smile.
"Please accept our apology!" Tamaki bowed once again, truly repentant of the outcome of his previous actions.
"Well, this works out perfectly." Komatsuzawa began, his elbows propped up on the table as his chin rested on the top of his hands, an insincere smile on his lips. "I was just thinking about approaching the Host Club about a cover story. I don't suppose you'd be interested?"
The young man that had a bowl cut, Chikage Ukyo, was holding a stick that was connected to an ice packet which was positioned on Komatsuzawa's head. The tall male standing on the left side of the club's president, Tomochika Sakyo, remained silent.
"I didn't know we had a Newspaper Club." Haruhi thought aloud.
"Me neither." Y/n shrugged as she carefully picked up a big shard of glass and put it inside the garbage bag Mori was holding.
The twins held up a newspaper, sliding beside the two sisters who were crouched down on the floor. "It's more gossip rag than newspaper." Hikaru informed.
"Yeah, like a trashy tabloid." Kaoru agreed. "It's filled with stories about scandalous love affairs, family power struggles, and junk like that."
"It's just a lame gossip rag that specializes in stirring up scandal." Hikaru stated.
The twins glanced at the three members of the Newspaper Club from the corner of their eye, showing an impassive expression. "And everyone knows it's all lies, so nobody reads it anymore."
'Hmm... Fake news.' Y/n thought with a knowing look.
Komatsuzawa flinched at the twins' remark and their gaze. "You know, I guess we have kind of lost sight of the truth because we've been so worried about drawing in more readers." His eyes narrowed in dejection. "It's a shame we're just now realizing our error, now that the paper is at risk. We've finally realized what we should have been reporting to the students of Ouran." He got up from his chair, causing Tamaki to mildly stumble, taken aback by the sudden movement that came from the Newspaper Club's president.

The three males bowed towards Tamaki. "Help us, please." Komatsuzawa pleaded as the twins, Mori, Honey, Y/n, and Haruhi moved to stand behind Tamaki and Kyoya. "For our last paper of this semester we'd like to do an up-close special edition, revealing the charms of Ouran's Host Club members. I'm begging you, without your help, our club will close."
Tamaki released a light chuckle while sweeping his blond bangs away from his face. "You can count on us. On behalf of the Host Club I acc-aha!"
Before Tamaki could finish his sentence, Kyoya pushed him aside, taking his place. He displayed a false closed eyed smile. "We have to decline."
"But Kyoya! He got hurt because of me! What's the big deal, huh?" Tamaki argued as Kyoya kept the blond haired male behind him.
As Tamaki proceeded to go against Kyoya's rejection, the short black haired male with brownish-grey eyes continued to speak. "Sorry, we have a policy prohibiting us from sharing any personal information with anyone other than our guests. But we'd be more than happy to pay any medical expenses related to your injury."
"And another thing, what makes you think we'd want to help you spread more rumors and gossip?" Kaoru examined with his arms crossed over his chest and a raised eyebrow. "We've got a reputation to uphold and you'd just ruin it."
"Besides, you guys cause a lot of trouble for other people. And who'd wanna get mixed up with that?" Hikaru moved his hands that were behind his head and held them up in a matter-of-fact demeanor.
Y/n and Haruhi flinched while faintly sweat dropping and glanced at one another, thinking exactly the same thing. 'It's scary how much they don't realize about themselves.'
Komatsuzawa sat back down on his chair in defeat. "I understand. Well, I guess you really can't erase the sins of the past, can you? People won't even give you the opportunity to try and redeem yourself." He let out a cry of pain and persuasively placed his head on the table. "Ah! My head is killing me!"
"President!" Ukyo and Sakyo placed their hands on Komatsuzawa's shoulders, worriedly.
"I'm okay. Don't worry, you two." Komatsuzawa assured weakly while lifting his head up and placing his hand on it. "Oh no--I'm getting dizzy again!" He laid his head back on the desk.
"President!"
"No, wait, I'm fi-aah!"
"President!"
"Dear lord..." Y/n muttered, standing beside her sister as the members of the Host Club stared at the three males in front of them with an inexpressive definition, omitting Tamaki who had his blond bangs shadowing over his eyes.
"I guess all we can do at this point is disband with grace..." Komatsuzawa considered dismally.
"No, you don't have to!" Tamaki interjected, making the three young men look up at him. "You can always make a fresh start. We'll help." He held up a committed fist. "We will rally the power of our Host Club, and we can reestablish the Newspaper Club together!"
"Well, count us out." The twins refused as the Fujioka siblings stood in between them, Kaoru trailed Y/n towards the door while Hikaru hauled Haruhi.
"You're way too trusting, boss. We can't just go along with everything you do forever." Hikaru primed in a sensible manner.
"Yeah, we've had enough." Kaoru concluded.
"We're leaving too, Tamaki." Kyoya acknowledged as he, Honey, and Mori walked towards the door. "We're holding an evaluation meeting, mostly about you."
"Hold it." Tamaki began--almost in a snarl--and the Host Club members stopped their actions. "How can you be so heartless? These men are about to lose their club. Don't you feel sorry for them?" He turned around, exhibiting a waterfall of tears flowing down his cheeks. "Their family's breaking up!"
Komatsuzawa, Ukyo, and Sakyo started to cry in a handkerchief, blowing their nose.
Tamaki pointed an orderly finger at his club members. "As your president, I demand you help them! And that is a direct order!"
They didn't appear to be affected by Tamaki's words. Kyoya, Hikaru, and Kaoru turned their head to glare at Tamaki. "We're not going to do it!"
Tamaki screamed while pulling on his blond hair.
'I don't really trust Komatsuzawa-Senpai. He's been giving out false information in his newspapers.' Y/n deliberated with no emotion apparent on her face. 'What if he lies and makes stuff up about us? Of course I feel bad for them but they brought this upon themselves.'
- - - -
The Host Club was back in their clubroom, music room three. Everyone has already changed into their uniforms except for Tamaki who was crouched on the floor, rolling a ball with his index finger.
The twins, Kyoya, Haruhi, and Y/n stared at the blond haired, second year student as Honey and Mori sat at a small circular table--Honey occupied himself by eating cake and Mori was drinking some tea.
"Well, he's obviously upset with us." Hikaru pointed out with his wrist on his brother's shoulder.
"Yeah, he hasn't even changed clothes." Kaoru observed with his hands in his pockets.
"I hate it when he ignores us when we're right in front of him." Kyoya uttered with one of his hands on his hips. "He's such a child."
"Nah, Tama-Chan's just a lonely guy, you know?" Honey chimed in.
"A club is like a family. Their family's about to be broken up. I feel sorry for them." Tamaki conversed quietly through a pout, feeling slightly displeased as he continued to stare down at the ball, not wanting to look at the others.
Y/n sighed restively. "Look Tamaki-Senpai, no one is disagreeing with you about a club being a family but they brought their problem upon themselves. I'm sorry, but I don't trust them." She revealed honestly, shrugging her shoulders to some extent. "If we do agree to help them out they might write something about us that isn't true. That may be beneficial for them, but what good is that going to do for us?" She reasoned rationally. "Just think hard about this."
The twins nodded. "Yeah, boss."
Haruhi hummed and glanced up at Kyoya. "I hate to give in but would it really be that bad to help them out with their newspaper?"
'Did she not hear what I just said to Tamaki-Senpai?' Y/n thought bluntly.
"What?" Hikaru questioned in minimal disbelief, his amber colored eyes looking at Haruhi.
"Hey, since when are you taking his side?" Kaoru inquired.
"Since never. Just listen okay?" Haruhi began, slouching her shoulders. "I know any moment now he's gonna look over here with those puppy-dog eyes he uses when he wants something and none of us will be able to say no and so he'll win."
"She does have a point..." Y/n mumbled loud enough for them to hear, her brown eyes were closed as she exhaled heavily.
"Let me guess," the twins initiated, "you're speaking from experience, aren't you?"
"Besides, maybe I'm wrong, but isn't this the kinda thing you guys usually go for?" Haruhi asked, directing her gaze to the twins.
"Well, no." The twins held their hands up in a shrug. "This seems like more trouble than its worth."
Haruhi looked at the twins for a second longer then glanced over at Honey. "What about you, Honey-Senpai?"
"Count me out." Honey denied with some cake in his mouth. "I have this cake to eat, and Takashi sticks with me, right?"
"Mh." Mori hummed, holding a teacup.
Tamaki turned his head to glance at them for a quick second then went back to how he was before. Even though it was brisk, Haruhi noticed it and flinched, guiding her eyes towards the blond haired male.
Tamaki looked towards the small group and then back at the ball. He did this again, his eyes becoming more cutesy and irresistible.
"Oh no... Those are the eyes." Y/n muttered, tensing up moderately.
Tamaki showed his puppy-dog eyes recurrently, this time getting Haruhi to finally give in.
'No, I'm not falling for it.' Y/n thought as sweat began to form on her forehead.
Tamaki flashed his eyes once more, now gaining Hikaru and Kaoru to side with him. It was now Kyoya and Y/n he had to convince.
The two members who remained standing shared a small glance with one another.
"There will be some conditions." Kyoya began as he pushed his glasses up the bridge of his nose.
"Bark!" Tamaki let out happily.
"The outline for their article will be submitted by us. Interviews are strictly prohibited. And it is vital that our client's identities be kept confidential." Kyoya modified, looking down at his open notebook.
"Bark-bark!"
"Do we agree?" Kyoya finalized and closed his black notebook.
"Well, if you think its cool, Kyoya-Senpai-" Hikaru started coolly.
"-then we do too." Kaoru completed his brother's sentence.
"I'll do it since Kyo-Chan says it's okay." Honey acceded, still occupied with his cake.
"Mh." Mori hummed in agreement.
Y/n vaguely nodded. "Alright then, it's settled."

Is Lucas Destined to Die in the New World?
Lucas imagined himself doing grander things in life; after all, he put in his own blood, sweat, and tears, and got himself a master's degree in English. Maybe he'd be the next best-selling author, or maybe the most popular late night TV show host. However, life didn't give him anything more than a management position at the local burger joint. Day in and day out, he flipped burgers, swept floors, and made weekly schedules that his employees ignored. All he had known for the past five years of his life was pure misery. Then after one night of drunken revelry, he found himself in an unfamiliar world, but he knew all the gimmicks. He knew these stories had quirks he could manipulate- he could put all his stats into magic and become the best wizard in the world, or he could dump all his stats into strength and become a veritable warrior. But once again, just like Earth, this new world seemed to have different plans for him. Instead, he was given a luck stat of 0 and a skill that forced him into danger where there should have been none. Why is this nerdy, magical paradise trying to kill him? Content warnings are there to give me some creative legroom later. There's not an excess of any gruesome content in the story, and what is there is tastefully sprinkled in. This is a LitRPG.
