"Young master, this is the best room we have."
"Hmm, it looks good." Cale commented honestly.
The old man led Cale's group to his inn. The exterior of the inn looked as rustic as the village, but it had everything you would need, probably because the merchants visiting to and from Henituse territory stayed at this inn on their travels.
"This is the first time we have a noble staying with us. Please excuse us if we are lacking anything, considering that this is a place us lesser being lives."
Cale looked at the old man, who seemed more comfortable talking with him than with Venion.
Nonetheless, the nervousness that was nearly gone before was back, and much more so when he, a noble, decided to stay at the inn for a few days.
It was fine for Cale when the people he talked to had a little anxiety but the old man had too much of it.
Cale patted his shoulder and tried to calm him down. "Old man, relax. Even if I'm a noble, I got everything from my father and not from my own merit. Furthermore, what lesser being are you talking about?I'm just a human like you.
And most importantly, I've just said that this place is good, so stop looking down on yourself. I hate talking a lot just to explain the obvious things."
The old man's pupils shook. He couldn't help the tears that fell. He had met a few nobles in his lifetime; it caused him to think that all nobles were haughty and unreasonable. They looked down on commoners' life as if it didn't matter that they all die.
But to think that he could heard a young noble saying these words to comfort him. He couldn't control his feeling anymore.
Cale looked awkwardly at the old man, surprised at the sudden crying. He looked toward the kittens for help, but they avoid his eyes. Cale could do nothing but stand there frozen and wait for the old man to calm down again.
The old man finally realized what he had done after a few sniffles. "I-I'm so sorry for showing such an embarrassing sight."
He hesitated a little before continued. "Young master, are the people from Henituse territory all good people like you?"

"Hmm? Oh, I'm not a good person; I'm quite famous as a Trash from Henituse territory, so anyone you find there will have a better personality than me."
On and Hong shook their head and looked at him incredulously. The old man let out a gasp at the unpredictable answer.
Cale didn't care about their reactions, he quickly shooed the old man away, he couldn't stand this awkwardness anymore. "You can go back to your work now."
The old man bowed and left the room as Cale ordered.
"Phew. How awkward." Cale sighed and took out a box from his spatial bag after making sure that the old man was gone and place the box on the bed.
The box was a Magic box, it's different from his mother's Enchanted box, as most Enchanted box has peculiar method of opening, such as using blood. Magic box is easier to open, and you don't need to hurt yourself.
Knock knock knock! Someone else was knocking on the door.
"Come in"
The door open and Hans walked inside. He approached Cale to ask for a confirmation. "Young master, will we be staying here for three days?"
"That's right. So, make sure you take care of everything."
Hans accepted the order, but his attention was caught by the Flynn Merchant Guild's logo on the magic box. So he openly show his curiosity on his face.
Cale casually commented at Hans's behavior. "Isn't a butler not supposed to show their emotions on their face, especially their curiosity?"
"One of the proper etiquettes that the Henituse butler should have is to show all their emotions to their master." Hans spoke seriously for the first time ever.
"You're so funny. Is there even something like that?" Cale giggled.
"I guess I am funny, if you said so, young master." Hans laughed sillily.
Even if Hans was being a little impudent, but seeing as Hans started to get used to him, Cale was feeling happy.
So he casually said to Hans. "Just get out already, Hans."
"Yes sir. I'll come again to inform you when the dinner is ready."
"I want extra meat for dinner and extra cakes for dessert."
"Understood" Hans bowed and left the room. He remembered the final order that Deruth gave him before he left for this journey.

"No matter how absurd or ridiculous the orders are, as long as it doesn't bring harm to my son, follow every one of Cale's orders."
Cale smiled when Hans accepted his order quite easily. He felt at ease with Hans doing everything, because Hans is the most efficient person he knew after Ron and Beacrox.
"He is a good butler." On commented. "Even if he's too much to handle most of the time."
"Only when you guys are around him." Cale chuckled and picked him both to put them on the bed, right opposite to him, with the Magic box in between them.
Cale pressed his finger on the magic seal to open the box. His fingerprint was the key to open this Magic box.
Beep.... Click.... The box made a small sound before opening without a problem. Inside the box were the things that Cale had prepared prior to his journey to the capital.
"I'm really curious about this"
"Really curious"
Cale explained very casually. "These are the things to help a poor soul, screw over some douchebags as well as prevent me from getting hurt."
"We won't let you get hurt."
"Yeah, we will help so you won't get hurt."
Cale thanked them, he recalled the conversation he had with Billos a few days before he left Henituse territory.
"Young master, just what do you plan on using these things?"
"Hmm, are you sure you wanted to know about it?" Cale's expression changed slightly. "You know that when you want something, you need to pay equivalent price for it."
"Ah, on second thought, I don't want to know that much. I was just a little curious. But.... You wouldn't use these for bad things, right?"
"Well.... That depends on how you described 'bad things'" Cale chuckled evilly.
"Ahem. Okay I'll just trust you and shut up, young master. I won't ask again. But I'll have to informed you that these items will cost you quite a bit to purchase."
"I do expect it to be expensive, but not to this extent. Is it possible to rent them all?"
"It's possible for you, of course." Billos explained more. "For the two items that are not able to be rented by outsiders. I'll use my name to rent it for you. So please, return it back when we meet at the capital, in person."
"Alright alright. I'll go meet you and return it in person. I won't give you troubles." Cale appeased Billos. 'I still have a lot of uses for you.'
Majority of the items inside the box were magic tools. Cale had used up all the allowances he had earned from his father after his regression. 'What a loss, I spent a lot of money on it but I have to return them back later.'
Cale grabbed one of the items from the box. It was a round black orb with a lot if symbols engraved on it.
Hong put his paw on the box and asked. "What is it? Really curious about it."
"It's a Mana Disturbance Tool. It is worth about a billion gallons"
Gasp. Both On and Hong let out a loud gasp.
"It costs me 20 million gallons just to rent it."
Hong slowly lower his paws and retreated toward the corner of the bed with his sister. They are both trying to keep their distance from the orb.
Cale smiled and threw the orb toward them. "It's not that fragile."
"Huk!"
"Nyan!"
They jumped to avoid the orb in a bit of fright, before what Cale said register in their mind. He approached and touch it cautiously.
Cale remembered what Billos told him about the orb.
"It causes a disturbance in the flow of mana within a certain range, making all magic tools stop working. It is also sturdy enough to withstand an explosion that could blow up a mountain."
"Something like surveillance tools will break right away then?" Cale asked to confirm.
"Of course. However, you need to install this 27 hours in advanced. It is created to slowly infused force that will disrupt the mana flow so that it will not noticed by mages.
It would only last for 40 minutes, Young master. Of course, if there are mages nearby, they wil be able to resolve the issue within 5-10 minutes."
"I will keep that in mind." Cale smiled in satisfaction. "I like how it is so durable."

The Beta Test
Our nameless narrator participates in a beta test for an early VRMMO game Meridian 60. That's not the real name but it captures the spirit of the adventure given the chronological and contextual era of the game. His character is unique and special but purely for mundane reasons and not because of any inherent or social significance. The first chapter which is mandatory to submit a story on RR serves as a bit of a prologue with some exposition, although I limited that to a reasonble level. I plan to begin releasing additional chapters starting Thursday, to align with the 48 hour submission approval process and also because I have something to do Wednesday. I haven't written anything but the summary and first chapter, nor have I plotted anything out. This is because my plan is to release roughly 34000 words a day, 10 chapters of ~12.5 pages each, for 3 days at which point the story will be complete. I'd have liked to plan for more but handling the interface tables and so forth needed for a data heavy litrpg slows down the writing process. 100k words is a bit short, a standard pre epic fantasy 300 page spec fic novel, but this is mostly a writing exercise and I am considering a longer project if I can maintain the pace. Probably do a different concept, maybe a dungeon core, over 5 days, since a 500 page novel is more common these days. Slight subversion of VRMMO stories Stat heavy/crunchy No paying your bills by gaming No out of game conspiracies No angst, interpersonal drama, or damsels/dudes in distress Schedule is 30000 words a day excepting the first chapter, a limitation of RRs fiction submission system Fantasy, high magic, male lead, no party, guild, or harem No gore, some profanity, no sexual content, and no current plans for anything traumatic

I, Mor-eldal: The Necromancer Thief
As a budding little necromancer, I soon discovered that the world of city people is complicated. When my master kicked me out of the cave, he warned me not to talk about my “dark” magic, because people here don't like the undead. I am not really an undead, I just have a skeleton hand, but it is better to be careful. Anyway, that's not my biggest worry. In the Black Dagger brotherhood, I learn a lot of things, such as illusionist magic, which turns out to be quite handy to survive in this maze of streets: in the Cat Quarter, we have thugs of all kinds that are best avoided. But we also have good people, goodhearted “gwaks”, as we say around here. Little did I know that I would soon be caught up in an infamous traffic that would entangle my life even more. With a mix of lighthearted adventure and picaresque, this story narrates the hectic life of a good-spirited street child and his companions in a medieval urban fantasy setting with some nineteenth-century influences. Updates Mondays and Fridays. This is a Creative Commons By work. It is a translation of a trilogy I wrote in Spanish between 2017 and 2018.

Faith's End: Godfall
"The Heart and Soul of our world met the Red Tempest of our species and is now without faith. Doomed to coil around the sun like a dying serpent in a bleeding desert," - Scholar Pulram. It is a time of darkness in the hearts of mortals. On a day unlike any other, in a battle meant to be standard fare, their lives were changed forever. Now, they have fallen, so quickly, to the vices of despair, misery, and fanaticism. The worst of them reign supreme with kratocratic tyranny, each squabbling over stretches of land and driving their subjects into poverty, fear, and mountains of the dead. By their hands, entire nations will fall, and whole peoples will be eradicated over petty reasons of ideological differences and speciesism. But all is not so bleak for everyone. Jira ne'Jiral, the knight of secrets, refuses to bow to those men and women who so callously obliterate the world, fighting to protect a world that distrusts her. Orlantha Quills, broken and lost, wanders the world with her enigmatic companion in search of the truth. Gíla Arsinoe, a Drayheller of little renown, works with the fates themselves for the salvation of the future. Three stories that will converge as the world itself splits apart in chaos and madness.
