《Steven Universe: The Return [FanFiction English]》68- It's Getting Away

(As Steven's team walks down a hallway, they find a room where some rubble is blocking the entrance and Gems can be heard screaming for help from inside.)
Did you guys hear that? It seems there are Gems in there.
Then we should remove the rubble blocking the entrance ASAP, right?
Why is it even a question? Let's help them!
When it comes to helping, count me out.
I know.
I'll just stand guard over here, okay?
Fine.
(Steven and Spinel manage to remove all the rubble from the entrance, once inside the room, they find a bunch of Pearls terrified of what happened.)
They are all Pearls.
So it seems. At least they're not such complicated Gems to deal with.
*shouts* Are any of you hurt?!
(The bunch of Pearls panic, so they run to a corner of the room, then hug each other while shivering in fear.)
Whoa, take it easy! We're not here to hurt you.
Exactly. Jus chill out a little bit, okay?
(The Pearls are still terrified.)
It gets worse.
Shoot, what can we do to calm them down? Any ideas, Spinel?
Hmm– Oh, I got it! *pulls out the Rubies' gemstones* Just check this out! *begins juggling the gemstones* Cool, huh?
Didn't you have something else to juggle?
Nope! But Look, It's working.
(The Pearls, visibly captivated, find Spinel's juggling entertaining, so they begin to calm down.)
Yeah! Well done, Spinel, you're entertaining them!
*juggling* Of course, entertaining people is my specialty.
You see, Pearls? We just want to help you, so if any of you are hurt, let me know. I can heal any kind of wound!
(A familiar Pearl steps forward, approaches Steven and Spinel and turns out to be Pink Pearl.)
*still juggling* Pink Diamond's Pearl! I mean, the old one.

If you really want to help us, do you think you can help me with this? *points at her cracked eye* I don't even know how it happened.
Uh... I'm so sorry, in the past I tried to heal you once and it didn't work.
Oh.
Man, that crack didn't heal even with rejuvenation. Sometimes Mom's powers terrify me.
I feel you.
Poor pearl, it's a shame that even with Mom's own powers I can't reverse the damage she did to her.
You know, I saw this Pearl a couple of times, one day she was just replaced, I never knew why. But I didn't imagine that Pink had hurt her this way, she never showed that kind of power when she spent time with me.
Well, your assignment was to keep her happy, wasn't it? Those destructive powers only manifest through anger. I guess you were doing fine.
I don't know. Why'd she abandon me in the garden then?
*nervously* Uhhh... These Pearls won't get their memories back on their own, so let's get cracking!
Don't try to evade me, Steven!
*giggles* Sorry.
(A few moments later, Steven has already gotten many of the Pearls back to normal, while Spinel is still juggling for them.)
*watches in amazement and claps for Spinel* Wow! No wonder you were Pink's favorite playmate.
Uh, actually, I don't think so.
*blushes in embarrassment* Uhhh, I'm sorry. I didn't mean that, I just, uh... You're doing great, better than anyone else!
*blushes* Hehe, thank you.
Spinel, be careful. You've been juggling for several minutes without resting, you could've an accident and crack the Ruby gems.
Don't fret – I used to juggle Pink for hours on end without a break, so you could say that I've got this stuff down-
(The area suddenly rumbles as a loud noise is heard, causing Spinel to accidentally drop the gemstones she was juggling with.)

*giggles* Whoops! An accident.
Spinel, what did I tell you?
*picks up the Rubies' gemstones* Well they're still intact.
You'd better store them in your gem, Spinel.
Yes, I will. *stores them in her gemstone*
By the way, what was that noise?
(Jasper notices something strange when she looks out the window, so she quickly runs into the room.)
My Diamond, my Diamond!!
Jasper, what is it?
You gotta see this! White Diamond's ship is trying to take off!
*surprised* What'd you say!?!
(A while ago, White Diamond's ship was buried in some rubble, the noise was because the ship is trying to get out of it.)
*looking out the window* Wasn't there supposed to be no one in that ship?!
Well, apparently now someone wants to get off the planet in it.
(Suddenly, Yellow and Blue Diamond's Arm Ships are activated.)
What?!
Those ships too!
(The two Arm Ships begin to remove the rubble blocking the exit to White Diamond's ship.)
What the heck is going on here?!
No idea, bro.
(Yellow and Blue Diamond's ships manage to remove all the rubble, freeing White Diamond's ship.)
They did it!
(The Arm Ships begin to attach to White Diamond's ship. Glowing energy courses down the vein-like structures along the exterior of the ship as the arms firmly attach to the ship, forming the Diamond Mech, but without Pink Diamond's legs. At the same time the ship takes off into space.)
It's getting away!
Not if I can help it!
What?!
Guys, take care of the Pearls and wait for me here! I'll be right back!
Wait, what're you gonna do?!
I'm gonna stop the one who's trying to escape!
But–
(Without listening to anyone, Steven floats up at high speed towards the Diamond Mech that is moving away.)
Steven!
He's gone.
That was an impulsive act, he shouldn't have rushed in like that. He should've at least come up with a plan-
*suddenly bursts into laughter* Very good, go straight to your doom, Steven!
Huh?
What did you just say?!
AAH! I said nothing!
Come on, speak up!!!
Make me!
If you insist so much. *cracks her knuckles* I'll be glad to do so!
*shaking in fear* Wait, hold on! Don't you dare!!
(In the meantime, Steven manages to get the incomplete Diamond Mech.)
*clinging tightly* I've just gotta get to the eye and get in through it.
(Steven climbs his way up the Diamond Mech until he reaches the eye and enters through it. Once inside, his eyes widen and he is dumbfounded by what he sees.)
*shocked* No... way! I... can't believe... what my eyes see!!

Paths of the Chosen (Rewritten, Revised, and Reinvigorated)
Daniel Stewart was chosen to alpha test a brand new Immersive VR game, "The Realms". What he doesn't know is that he has also been Chosen by one of the Powers of a far-off world, and is now a pawn in a game much bigger than any he thought he would ever participate in. Will he survive and thrive in this strange new world, or will he stumble and fall, shattered by the ambitions of another? Does he have what it takes to walk the Paths of the Chosen?---Inspired by the Chaos Seeds novels, TheDespaxas's The Gamer, and a wide variety of games and books, although the world, characters, and systems are my own. Expect high fantasy, magic, combat and intrigue, love and loss, grief and passion. This story is intended for adult audiences and contains explicit sexual content, profanity, and violence (including sexual violence, although not by the protagonist and not as a focus of the story). Chapters with such content will be clearly marked, and all explicit sexual content will be behind spoiler tags. I prefer my stories to have happy endings, and especially in these uncertain times, I feel that it is important to maintain hope. While this tale will reach some dark places, I promise to you that, when all is said and done, the villains will be justly punished and the heroes will prevail and prosper. Remember: it is darkest before dawn, but dawn always comes. Please note also that although this story does not have the [Harem] tag, it does have an extremely slow build into a polyamorous relationship. Additionally, starting with Champion (book two of the series), the [Multiple Lead Characters], [Female Lead], and [Non-Human Lead] tags would also apply to varying degrees. This is a complete, ground-up rewrite of the original Paths of the Chosen, following feedback from here and elsewhere. It is now written in the third-person limited omniscient perspective and in the past tense. In addition, while the major plot beats are unchanged, most of what comes between them has been reconsidered and rewritten, with pacing and characterization as a special focus.---Update schedule: 2 chapters per week (Monday and Thursday), not counting bonus chapters. Chapter length is roughly 2,500 words on average, +/- 1,000 words. Chapters with explicit content tend to be longer so that they are still worth reading for those who would prefer a fade to black. --- Cover art by Agri Karuniawan (@artofagri). Ars Magica
Our vision comes back into focus. Our eyes, while being able to perceive the immediate surroundings, still leave us with our minds uncomprehending towards what is actually occurring. Sure, there are definitive things that we can focus on, like the fact that we're either out upon the open sea or the open ocean, there not being much of a difference with no land in sight, as well as the fact that we appear to be upon a haphazardly constructed metal boat, whose seams are barely able to keep a hold of themselves in the crashing waves. However, that does not let us understand what exactly is causing the waves in the first place. If we were to rewind time, we'd find ourselves upon a calm sea under a peaceful sky with the only difference, being a small whirlpool that would be the precursor towards this uproar around the boat. Lightning flashes in the sky, with no clouds being near, and anyone actually manning the boat has either died towards the cause of the smashing tides in the first place, or are fighting amongst the flashes of lightning, all while trying not to become devoured, demolished, and utterly decimated by the beast roiling in the whirling waves. To better understand exactly what is happening here, there is one singular event that needs to be understood, that needs to be explained, and that is the arrival of a creature named Dave. Stepping back from current events and going towards this creature's first appearance in the world, we begin to hear the sound of water slowly dripping across rocky ground. The cavern is utterly silent except for this one constant, its cause feeding channels downwards, sloping towards cracks in the rubble along the floor from broken stalagmites and stalactites. And there, lying on top of something which had fallen over recently, judging from its cracks, is a person, the creature named Dave. His form is fast asleep, either from the impact or from an intoxication, judging from the smell upon its breath. A bright light suffuses into it for a second, giving life towards the pale skin, before it slowly dies down back to the comfortable black of the cave that it's within. Before this moment in time, Dave did not exist in the physical world. At least, not in the reality that he finds himself born into. We do not know whether or not his existence is simply a cosmic joke, or something that is being played out on purpose. All that we do know, is that one moment, the body was not in the cave, and simply formed in the next. The actual earliest time that we know Dave exists, is the interpolation of the memories of J-209, which we'll begin looking into shortly to gain context towards the coming narrative that is being written and hastily trying to keep itself written. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Warning: This story has several things which might turn its readers away. The first is that this story has shifting points of perspective. Don't worry about that previous sentence too much though, as the main character will always have a first person perspective associated with them. However, any other character from which we're viewing the story from will either be in third-person, as we are not necessarily in their shoes at the moment, or in first person, given that the narrator is an actual physical presence within the story. For the most part, chapters will be self-contained with their perspectives, so there will not be an abundance of switching perspectives within the same chapter. The most that an average reader would have to worry about is the fact that perspectives can switch between chapters. The second thing is that the main character is a bit on the 'special' side of things. He's not exactly mentally there most of the time, so there will be some times that his personality or his thoughts do not actively align with his actions. The third, and final thing of importance, is the fact that past the first couple of chapters, nothing has been planned in advance. There are arcs and plots that I want to do, want to implement, or have already been set into motion from our main character's introduction to the world, but the method that I use for my story writing and generating leads towards a bit more random chance being enabled. Basically...there's a lot of dice rolling behind the scenes. To not complicate the story further than its regular LitRPG elements, the rolls will not be publicly available. However, there will be knowledge within the author's notes on whether or not there were positive or negative critical rolls that had occurred within the chapter. You have been warned. Updates: Mondays & Fridays (Schedule permitting) Typical Chapter Length: (2,000-3,000)

Evan always wanted to be a king. To see people groveling at his feet, begging for mercy. Too bad he never had the chance to achieve his dream, since time waits for no one, and trucks don't either. At the tender age of 19, Evan died to getting hit by a truck. You can pobably guess where this is going... .... "So you want to be reincarnated as a king?" "You'll have to work for it, or die trying." I'm a new author, so constructive criticism would be taken note of, kind souls. Also English isn't my first language, so i'll correct my grammar as I go. Also I'm pretty stupid.
