(The communicator is damaged, but Bluebird's voice can still be heard through it, only slightly distorted.)
Hey– *distortion* What was- *distortion* -that?!
(Steven walks over to the communicator.)
*enraged* So you're still there, huh?
Oh, I get it now– *distortion* It was one of your- *distortion* -pink outbursts, wasn't it?!
Tch.
(Steven smashes the communicator with his foot.)
*worried* St-Steven, are you okay?
*breathing hard* I'm... not! I feel like–
Steven, calm down!!
Yes. Relax, buddy!!
*breathes heavily* I am trying!
Steven, try to control your breathing!
Pi*breathing heavily* I can't! I'm really mad!!
I understand how you feel. Just like you, I am very angry, and scared too. We all are!
*panting* Huh!?
However, we can't allow our emotions to control us. We must have a calm mind to think clearly.
I know, but...
(Garnet sits down.)
Come on, sit next to me, let's meditate for a while.
... Fine
(Steven sits down next to Garnet.)
Start by controlling your breathing. Close your eyes and breathe deeply. Hold the air for three seconds and exhale through your nose.
O-okay.
I'll accompany you in this too.
Count on us as well.
Of course, man.
We're gonna get through this together, Steven.
I really appreciate you guys... Let's do this together then.
(Steven, Garnet and the others start a little meditation for a few minutes.)
Alright Steven, hold your breath with that rhythm. Empty your mind, forget everything that happened.
I'll try.
Don't try, do it!
Okay.
(Steven begins to relax, doing just what Garnet tells him to do.)
Relax your muscles, relax all your body.
Yes, I can do it.
(After a time of meditation and relaxation, Steven's pink form disappears.)
Very good, Steven.
Yeah, I did it!
You did well, Steven.
Congratulations Steven!!
Thank you, guys. I feel much better now.

Wildcards: The Dread Captain
At the District One Invitational, a rookie eSports team defied all odds and reached the finals. Their underdog story and humble beginnings elevated them to worldwide acclaim. Media corporations dubbed them, The Paragons. With their main competition eliminated from the tournament during the semifinals, the rookie team sailed through the live finals and won by a landslide. Their prize was to become the first ever players in the most exclusive VR game yet, Abidden. The Paragons never celebrated that semi-final victory. They lost a friend in that match, who never appeared online again. Ten years later, the gaming landscape has changed and Abidden with it. Helena is the last remaining Paragon. Her team now consists of celebrities, influencers and musicians. Abidden has been reduced to a shadow of its former glory, but is the most streamed and viewed game in the world, despite having only a handful of players. None of this matters to James Sylvester. Finally out of hospital, things aren't good for James. He's found himself crippled with medical debt, his gaming licence has been revoked and he's permanently lost his place in society. He now spends his days competing in illegal slum arcades to manage the repayments. When a high-profile job comes along, James gets temporary backdoor access to his blacklisted gaming account. After reactivating it for the first time in ten years, James receives an invitation that could change his life forever. Disclaimer: This story is in no way or form associated with the works of George R. R. Martin and has no link to the popularised series, Wild Cards. This is a LitRPG story of my own creation that shares that name.
