Sharon stood numb, tears flowing down her face. She aged 10 years suddenly. She just couldn't move forward, her baby was lying on that white table undergoing a surgery. All because Sharon couldn't swallow her pain, her agony of losing her husband to her best friend.

"Madam ... please come with us. You are bleeding too we need to check for injuries." A nurse politely said.

" Madam. Ms. Daies..." the nurse shook Sharon. Sharon wanted to shake her head but couldn't. If anything happens to her baby she would never forgive herself.

Her baby April was the best thing that had happened in hers as well as Chris life.

Chris, she had to inform him. He must have cheated on her but for April, he was a very loving father. She had to keep her pain,her anger away from her baby. With the help of the nurse, she was able to sit on the chair outside the operation theater.

The phone rang twice before Chris lifted the call.

"Sharon, where are you?" His voice was loud showing how pissed he was.

"Chris..." was all she could say before she broke down clutching her stomach and heart. The phone fell and the nurse soon called for help.

"Hello, Sharon... Sharon..." Chris called out worried.

"Hello... sir. This is Amanda from St. Claire hospital, this woman and her baby had an accident her baby is undergoing surgery and her...."

"What happened? What happened to my baby? Is she alright." Chris cut her.

"Sir she is undergoing a surgery I request you to come as soon possible...sir are you Ms.Daies husband?"

"Yes... I am. I will be there in twenty minutes"

Sharon couldn't understand which pain was more... the pain in her lower abdomen or pain in her heart. She somewhere subconsciously knew what was happening. She was bleeding profusely and she is a woman. She knew.

Though doctor said April would be fine. She knew... she lost her baby and she felt as if she lost her hope. Her prayers have been for April if she knew before that she had a little life inside her she would have prayed for it too.

Life was too harsh on her right now. Her husband slept with her best friend. She never ever thought Chris would cheat on her... she agrees her marriage wasn't going through a very good phase but she thought her love.. their love would cross that rough patch.

"Nurse... My daughter.. ?! How was her surgery? Can I see her?" She asked as soon as a nurse came in.

"Yes.. she is fine. Her surgery went really well. She is been just transferred to I.C.U. Your husband just came..."

She was interrupted by the sudden entry of Chris and his mother who followed him. Martha never liked Sharon from the starting. So they were never in best terms... Sharon tolerated her only for sake of Chris.

The nurse immediately excused herself. Externally Sharon had just small scratches and a small cut on the head but her baby... emotionally she is a wreck.

Chris searched her for injuries... when he thought she was okay he asked her "where were you going? And why did you take April with you.? If you could have just let her stay with nanny this wouldn't have happened to her."

Sharon could just see the worry in his eyes not love. She lost him. She lost his love.

"What if anything happened to April?" Martha asked.

Sharon didn't have an answer. Okay... taking April along with her was not a good idea. God already punished her She lost her baby. Sharon's eyes immediately watered. How stupid can she be? Not knowing that she was pregnant.

Chris just looked at her worriedly... where was the Chris who couldn't see her cry?

"Mrs. Vanderwood... How are you feeling?" A middle age Doctor who just entered the room answered.

Sharon ...... how did she feel? She felt lost... she felt barren.

"You may have lost one but you have another baby... you have to be strong for that one." He said.

"What? What are you talking about?" Chris asked.

The doctor looked at Chris once and again at Sharon.

"Mr.Vanderwood we have tried our best but I am sorry to inform we couldn't save your baby." He said in a grave tone.

"What are you talking about April was fine...." that's when it hit him "You were pregnant?" He asked her.

Sharon was quite. What would she tell him yes! I was pregnant and I didn't know.

"Could you give us a minute?" He asked the doctor who in return nodded his head before going out.

"Mother" he stressed giving Martha 'get out now' look.

They were completely silent for a few minutes before he looked at Sharon. Her face pale with tears flowing down.

"Sherry Did you know? " he asked calling her with the nickname he had given to her.

Sherry... I love you... the first time Chris ever said those words, Sharry will you marry me? 3years back when he proposed to her. Oh my God!!! Thank you so much, Sherry, he said when April was born...... All the memories of the 7 years together are haunting her. Mocking her of her so-called love. Her lost baby. Tears could do no justice for her loss.

Chris was about to touch her when she flinched. "Please... Don't" was all she could say.

"Sherry, I know it's hard but you can't punish yourself right now"

Knock. Knock.

"I'm sorry Mr. Vanderwood... but we need to check on Mrs. Vanderwood"

Chris gave the Doctor a nod and moved aside.

"Actually, I would like if we do this more private Doctor," Sharon said clearly indicating Chris was not needed.

Chris gave her a confused look before squeezing her hand and getting out. Sharon tried her best not to pull her hand away.

Martha was standing outside the I.C.U. where April was kept. Chris placed a hand over his mother's shoulder before placing a small feathery kiss on her head. Martha hooked her head up to see Chris, his eyes were in April but they were glowing with unshed tears.

"Oh... Chris... " she said taking his face into her hands.

"Why..? Mother. Why...?" He asked her.

She just hugged him rubbing his back."It will be Alright"

"Chris, Martha... what happened? Oh my God.. I came here as fast as I could. Is April okay? Is Sharon?" Sharon's best friend Lillian walked in.

"Yeah... they are both okay.....but it turns out Sharon was pregnant and she lost her baby," Martha said.

"Pregnant? " Lilly asked looking at Chris.

"I had no idea."

"I will give you both a moment and go get my coffee." Martha excused herself.

"I already am guilty enough," Chris said as soon as they were alone.

"Guilty..? That's not what you used yesterday evening"

"Lily... right now I prefer you think of Sharon before anything else."

"Its Always her Chris... It's always been he," she said in a small voice.

"Why are you being like this?"

"Nevermind. However, where is Sharon? I need to see her."

"She is in that room to your left. The doctor is examining her right now"

"Then what are you doing here?"She asked.

"She didn't want me there."

"What? That's Sharon we are talking about. She can never be alone if you are around."

Chris raised his eyebrow at Lily.

"We both know how much she loves you"

"Yeah.... that's why I think I want to tell her about us before she finds out."

"But you can't do that now"

"I know lily... that is why I think until I come to talk and come with a clean slate. You and I should take a break," he said.

Lillian just swallowed the lump and nodded. She was afraid to lose him.

She was also afraid she will lose her best friend.

"Dr.Foster here are the reports of Ms.Daies," a nurse said giving it to an old man.

"Did she have an abortion?"

"Yes, sir. She did. Hope she is fine now"

"Was her family informed?"

"Yes, sir. They are here"

Abortion? " Chris asked shocked.

Lily's eyes widened.

"What are you talking about? I thought she had a miscarriage?" Martha asked coming back with a coffee cup in hand.

"I am sorry but are you related to the patient ?" Dr.Foster asked.

"I'm her husband," Chris answered his face turned pale. Losing the baby was one thing, but killing it is another thing and his Sharon could never do something cruel as that.

"Oh... Mr.Daies? "

"Vanderwood. Daies is her maiden name."Martha probed.

"Mr.Vanderwood as you know yes she miscarried one of the twins... but she aborted other."

"She was carrying twins?"

"Yes. Now if you will excuse me. I have other patients to attend" he said.

"How come you did not inform me? I am the father." Chris fired.

"Yes. Mr.Vanderwood I know. But it was either her or the baby's life!! and it was her call to make about her life."

"Dad!! How is Sharon?" A young man around Chris's age came into Hallway.

"Who are you?"

"What are you doing here?"

Chris and Dr.Foster said at the same time.

"I'm Sharon's Lawyer Nate and I have come to see her and You are?"

"This is Sharon's husband," Dr.Foster said.

"Oh, so he is the douche," Nate said cracking his knuckles.

"Excuse me"

"Nate"

Chris and Dr.Foster said at the same time again.

Chris was fuming, How dare this guy call him a douche? And how come he didn't know about this lawyer friend of Sharon's.

"Can I go and see her?" Nate asked completely ignoring Chris.

"No... you can't. She is being checked up right now. " Dr.Foster said. "However you can go check on April"

"April was also involved," Nate asked completely shocked.

Chris wondered who the hell is this man.

"Can I speak with you for a moment?"Dr.Foster asked and Chris followed him into his office.

"Sir, All she needs right now is your love and attention. Care must be taken or else she may slip into depression and might have a serious problem."

Chris felt horrible. He was supposed to take care of her but he couldn't. He promised himself he would take care of her.

He just nodded his head and exited the doctor's cabin. The moment he reached Sharon's room he knew something was wrong he could hear Sharon shouting. Sharon was never someone to raise her voice.

"How dare you come near me? Get out!!" She said

Lilly's eyes were wide as saucers. Sharon loved Lilly, his face was masked with confusion.

"What's happening here?" He asked.

Every eye in the room turned to look at him. Lilly's were confused as his. Sharon's were sad, hurt probably. That guy Nates eyes were filled with anger, annoyance.

"Sharon may be hurt her head and gone crazy, she is unnecessarily shouting at Lilly," Martha said.

"Mom... please." Chris snapped.

Martha mumbled something and walked out of the room.

"Shar. What's going on?" Lilly asked.

"Just get out.... I can't deal to see your face right now" Sharon said harshly.

"Both of you" she added quickly.

"Sharon... what are you going on about? I can understand your pain..... it was my baby too. But it's no way to deal with your...'our' loss."

Sharon cringed at his words. She didn't want to think about the baby she lost yet.

Sharon wanted to get away..... away from him... away from Lilly..... away from the life where she was Mrs.Vanderwood perfect host for Chris parties. Ideal wife. Now that she thinks of it, it's been a while since she last played the role of Chris's lover. Yes, they have had sex two months back the night she conceived but it was just as simple as it's said Just Sex.

"I want a divorce, " she said breathing in a lung full of air.

"What?" Both Chris and Lilly asked.

"Isn't that you want? Isn't that you both want?" She asked her eyes were never that fierce.

Chris felt as if someone threw a bucket full of ice on him. He wanted to tell her personally. He never wanted her to find out this way. Yes, the pain she feels may not differ but at least She had the right to listen to it from him. The amount of guilt he felt was like in waves.... but nothing can be undone. It's true that he had cheated on her with her best friend.

"Shar. .." Lilly started but one flare from her was enough to make Lilly shut.

"How could you even do that to me?" Sharon asked no one in particular.

"I am sorry" was all Lilly could mutter before she ran out the room crying.

"Sharon..."

"I'm done. Chris. I'm done with you... I want a divorce. I want to go away... as far as I can from you."

"But we have a family.."

"You should have thought about before you went whoring around my best friend in my guest house."

Just that same moment there was a small knock on the door."I 've what you asked for." Nate said giving her a blue file.

"Thank you, Nathaniel. Pen?" She asked him and he handed it to her and left sending a harsh glare towards Chris.

Sharon signed the paper's swiftly and gave them to Chris.

Chris was fuming. He hated the fact that Nate could pull out even a very teeny-Tiny smile from Sharon and him couldn't.

Chris had the paper's in his hand, he wanted to apologize to Sharon, he was off but she was dead set.. so he did one thing that would stop her.

"April is staying with me." He snapped.

He couldn't believe his eyes when Sharon calmly nodded.

He let out a humorless laugh and said "you are that determinant to get away. Then you can go. I am not going to stop you anymore" and left her alone.

Sharon could feel the ache in her heart how could she leave her baby with Chris? Can she live without April? Tears were never taking the name of stopping.

Next day early morning Sharon wrote a note to Nate left it on the bedside table...it just said that she was thankful for arranging divorce papers on such a short notice and that she is going away and asking him to check on April time to time and concluded with a hope that one day she will return.

Sharon took the first bus to the airport. Her passport was in the bag that they found in her Car.

She took a 13-hour long flight and ended up in Princeton... Infront of her Momo's house. The same Momo she hasn't seen in 15 years. At least she was happy that none of the people from her past knew about her Momo.

"Sharon ....?" Her grandmom asked adjusting her glasses.

"Momo..." Sharon mumbled hugging her for dear life "Hide me and my baby" was all she said.
