as I could remember, the darkness was something that brought comfort to my very soul. I was infatuated with it - amazed by it, awed. It was like a thick blanket of coolness that kept me wrapped up and safe, no matter what. I don't know why, but I never questioned it. I felt blessed to have a wonder so strong that it pushed me to study it, to memorize it, to love it. Not many people get a feeling like this over something so small, something so mysterious, so I knew that I was gifted in some way.

The night I was out on Santa Carla's boardwalk, looking up at the stars and chasing the moon in the same direction for over an hour, for reasons unknown, is the night I met him. I felt so drawn to him, just like I had been so drawn to the everlasting glow of the moon above seconds before. The way some of his blonde, curly hair swept over one shoulder while the rest swayed on his back with each step he took. The way his colorful, patch filled jacket fit him so well and made his smaller frame look even bigger than it was. The way the chaps around his jean-clad legs hugged his thighs perfectly, sculpting his legs out just right, leaving some room for a person to imagine but not much. He had taken my breath away almost instantly, and when he turned around and our eyes met, I couldn't help but feel complete.

Marko. His name is Marko. The night that we had met was a little over a year ago, but I've been so thankful for it since. It turned out, he was a vampire - an actual blood sucker, someone who could actually die from just the sunlight itself. It shocked me at first, but I remember clear as crystal blue water, that I wasn't scared, not at all. The way his eyes softened when I told him just that, made my heart skip a beat. The hug he pulled me into and the way he thanked me, out of pure gratitude, made me nearly faint. To me, he was just so perfect. My heart went out to him when I saw the pure thankfulness in his eyes the night he told me, along with his brothers, and I couldn't help but want to hold him. I remember it so vividly because the problem craving was so strong.

I did end up holding him, but not that night. It was a week later, when Marko had been staked by the hunters known as the ‘ Frog brothers ’. They barely missed his heart, and it shattered me inside to know I wasn't there to do anything about it. The only reason I knew it because Marko's brother, Dwayne, came to get me out of panic once nightfall hit.

When I say I was so scared that night, I mean it. My heartbeat rocketed when I spotted Marko on the couch, wincing, laying down with a lined look across his face. He healed rather quickly because he drank his brother's blood, but that didn't mean he couldn't still feel the aftermath of the wound.

I ended up cradling him that night - us laying down, but he was on top of me, with his head resting on my chest. The memory of running my hands through his soft hair was still so fresh. It was something I'd hold onto forever.

In my current state, I couldn't help but live over those memories. Staring up at the night sky, outside of the cave and near the rocky edge, sent a great sense of calmness through my undead heart. It wasn't long ago that the boys had turned me into one of them. I had a huge urge to feed most of the time, but whenever I'm calm, like this, soaking in serenity, it simmered down to nothing.

The thought of Marko never left my mind, even when I was with him. I was utterly in love with that blonde, even if he could be a complete handful. He treated me greatly, like royalty in a way, and I'd forever cherish that. I'd cherish everything about him, for as long as I'm alive. He lives in my heart, and by the way that he stares at me, I could tell I live in his as well.

“ Got bored in the cave? ” I heard a light voice, with a soft tone question me from behind. I instantly knew who it was, not by just his smell, but by his voice too. His presence, as well, always welcomed me in and surrounded me like a fortress of solitude, so it was never hard to miss him.

“ You could say that.. ” I mumbled, hearing as the shuffling of boots picked up, before they landed right beside me. I watched from my potential vision as my favorite blonde took his seat beside me, letting his legs dangle off of the cliff, alongside my own.

“ You're always looking at the stars, ” that comment made me turn my head, to look at him questionably. He wore a small smirk, but it wasn't cocky like usual, it was rather soft, like he was actually curious. “ why? ”

It took a minute for me to actually think over an answer. I knew why, but I couldn't quite put it into words right away. It was something I struggled with a lot - telling people things, or explaining stuff that I couldn't quite put out into the air. Some thing's were just left better unsaid - instead, it was much more better to just see it from another's point of view. Kinda impossible without even just a small example though, right?

“ Well... ” I cleared my throat, before turning my head back upwards to look to the twinkling stars above. “ Many things hold secrets, ya' know... humans, animals, other earthly things that exist in our reality. ” I paused, to glance at Marko, only to see him nod as in saying ‘ go on. ’ “ Darkness and Space itself amaze me, because the atmosphere around them holds so many secrets and mysteries that even the smartest of scientists don't know about. For example, do the stars have a particular meaning? The answer from scientific research is that the stars hold many meanings. Some are answered, while many more still are untold. You can't know everything about everyone, so why would you be able to know everything about everything? ”

I stopped talking, to collect my thoughts once more. My brain had been running about hundred miles a minute at that point. “ I just believe that there's secrets within space, and darkness itself, that hold a great meaning to everything ever done, said, and whatever else. What is it? I can't tell you, because I don't know. Mystery goes a long way, and even though I'm dying to know what goes on within that realm of darkness... I'm also intrigued with the thought that there's so much more to find out. ”

By time I drifted my gaze back over to Marko, his eyes were blown wide open and his pupils had increased in size. I read somewhere once, that when the pupil grows bigger when looking at someone, that means your in love with that person. That makes me question, what exactly did I do to make him look at me that way?

“ You talked. You spoke your mind.. ” His words snapped me out of my dazed state. Of course he read my mind.. sometimes I forget he could do that. “ — You made me see something that I never saw before, just with your words.. ” He whispered, voice barely audible to the human ear, but thank god I had inhanced hearing. “ It's incredible, baby. You're incredible. ”

If I were able to brush, I would have. The blood would've shot right to my cheeks the instant he said those things to me. Sadly, It couldn't do so, due to the whole ‘ being dead ’ thing. “ You're sweet.. ” I mumbled, leaning towards him to place a kiss on his cheek. However, he stopped me by grabbing my jaw ; finger tips slightly pressing into my jawline, to keep me put, while he slowly inched closer. His lips pressed to mine, a little roughly, but I didn't mind it - Marko was always like this, just eager to feel me, and I couldn't complain because I was always craving to feel him as well.

Our lips moved in sync against one another. His so soft, subtle, pretty. They made me swoon just by eyeing them. And, gosh, when he bit his bottom lip sometimes, it drove me insane. Marko was just so intoxicating and I could never get enough of him.

“ Might wanna' block out your thoughts, princess.. ” Marko pulled back slightly, mumbling the words under his breath as a smirk of amusement stretches across his lips. I huffed, slightly annoyed he was always in my head, but smiled back nonetheless. I loved him, and he deserved to know that.

With half-lidded eyes and a bite to my lower lip, I dragged my orbs down his beautifully structured face, only stopping to stare at the own lip bite he now performed. He must be watching me ogle him, because he only ever bites his lip when he's turned on, or amused.

“ Careful, looking at me that way. You never know when I'll bite. ” At the playful threat, I couldn't help but softly laugh, while further pulling away from him ; distancing back to my previous sitting position. I could see him pouting from the corner of my eye, but I gave no mind to it.

“ Behave. ”

“ Yes, ma'am. ”

I loved Marko, and he loved me.

Maybe, one day, we can have our own star.
