《Star Wars Preferences & Imagines》The Last Jedi Review

: I felt as though I was on edge for half of it and the other half I was in awe of Kylo and other characters and how they evolved.

I'm know this sounds cheesy but I felt like I was on a rollercoaster. So many things were happening and my brain couldn't process them because it was so amazing. I cried , I l laughed, I mainly cried.

I loved how I was always bursting with excitement of what was going to happen next. The involvement and how much the characters have changed in a short span of time in the film was awesome. I felt so many emotions through the film, for me there wasn't one moment where I kept one emotion or I didn't have one every scene was different.

:I had been super excited for this movie and left the cinema feeling super happy and excited to talk about it. In other words, yes, the movie exceeded my expectations.

I'm going to be completely honest, I only saw the first trailer they had released for the movie. After that I blocked out anything and I didn't want to have anything to do with Star wars tbh. I didn't want to even have an idea what The Last Jedi would be about. The reason I try doing this now is because I was extremely disappointed when I would see trailer after trailer of Justice League and the movie wasn't what I expected so instead I just decided to avoid it and just come in fresh.

I was super super ecstatic about The Last Jedi. I couldn't wait for it to come to the cinema I actually went to the premiere they had in Los Angeles and then I seen it the following week. The film was so incredible I couldn't stop talking about it to anyone after I had seen it, I then went again 3 times after because well...who wouldn't?

:I found that there was an equality between both male and female. But in such a day and age, people will see things in their own way with their own values and morals clouding their views, hence forth I see that that it was equal, but others may see it as too much Rey and Rose or too much Finn and Poe etc.

I personally, felt the film was equal as Ally had stated.

Jade (RiverdalesPrincess): I actually didn't mind a little feminism with Rey, Rose ect, it gives woman and girls in society today a little empowerment. Which I think Star Wars is a perfect film to help show women that we are just as smart, empowering and strong like men. I also admired the fact that Rian didn't show to much feminism and kept the equality of both men and women in the film.

: Yes, the movie was 2 hrs 30mins but it was just right to me.

Eh. Okay so listen. I felt there were certain parts the movie just like kinda dragged on, but like I didn't mind it? Like it allowed my brain to process what was occurring and although it felt like it dragged on. I appreciated every moment.

I thought 2 hrs and 45 mins was a great length of time for the film. And they had packed so much in it, the film actually felt like it went so much longer than what it actually did which surprised me.

: I found when Kylo killed Snoke and then lied about to a rather big twist, but with a big lead up.

OKAY SO FIRST OF ALL. THIS MOVIE HAS A BUNCH OF MAJOR TWIST. MY full course meal Kylo Ren not shooting his mama but then the like ship exploding and LIKE That whole scene when Princess Leia like not died and used the Force to MOVE herself to safety. THAT WHOLE SCENE HAD MY heart STOPPING AND CRYING. I really, I just really was so shocked AND THEN YODA POPPIN IN LIKE A MF G. I was so freaking shocked like MAH MANS YODA up here gonna throw some lighting on you wack ass textbooks. So yeah, there were mannyyyy plot twist in my opinion.

Okay so where do I begin the first plot twist to me I well when Kylo didn't shoot Leia, but I knew he wouldn't she was always in the weakness. In a book I read I bought about all the characters of Star Wars and on a star wars site it states Leia and Ben were always close. Another which I found extremely interesting was how Luke and Kylo's stories were told about Kylo turning dark, and the major was when Kylo killed Snoke and fought with Rey. I must mention the little boy at the end how he used the force to bring the broom over to him was cool. I think Rian's plot twists helped create the film and I truly believe he did a amazing job at it.

: I found the movie served a great deal of purpose in regards to restarting the rebellion and bringing forth the hope to the galaxy.

The movie kept to its title. The Last Jedi had to end, in order to bring forward a new generation of heroes. The movie was a master piece, as a older generation leaves, a new one will come forward to continue the legacy.

I certainly think it served a purpose, it clearly states 'The Last Jedi' because Luke would like to end the Jedi but this also gives Rey a chance to help a younger generation and I thinking starting with that boy like I said in the previous question. Like the previous films it always presents new generations: The Originals, The Prequels and then the Sequels new heroes and new villains. Every Star Wars films has served a purpose and have brilliantly done so each time.

: My favourite scene was by far the scene when Luke reunited with R2D2 on the Millennium Falcon. I found it very heart touching.

This is hella difficult for me to answer because I loved everything but it had to be when Yoda just threw some mother f*cking lighting or when Kylo was shirtless or when Kylo threw Hux to the wall, I'm OH NO IT HAS TO BE WHEN FINN FOUGHT PHASMA, that was also a good scene. I really can't choose tbh.

Now I think my ultimate favourite would have to have been when Kylo was shirtless! But I did love the scene when Luke and Leia were reunited for that short while I cried when I saw the together. It was truly a heart felt moment and a perfect example of a twin bond. I also loved the scene where Kylo ordered the AT-AT's and TIE FIGHTERS to shoot and Luke and he still stood there unharmed and flicked his coat brushing dust off. Although I loooove my ginger general to the death star and back like Kylo Ren, I did love it too when Kylo threw Hux to the wall with the force.

: I think it is always nice to have a fresh breath of air and Rian did just that, he found new and interesting ways to transform and develop the characters and found new aspects of the Star Wars world to play with.

At first I didn't understand the purpose of making each character change but now I understand it all. You see in The Force Awakens, Kylo Ren is nothing but an emo teenager, but in The Last Jedi, Kylo Ren is a F*CKING MAN who isn't taking anyone shit. I saw some real character growth in everyone. J.J Abraham's brought everything together, he reignited our hearts with the franchise. He made us love these new characters and I would have really liked to see him direct or at least hear how he would have directed it but I am hella satisfied with Rian Johnson's interpretation. He developed characters in a whole new way, the way he just developed Kylo Ren and Luke especially it was amazing.

I loved both intakes that both Rian Johnson and J.J Abrams presented in Star Wars. Both incredible directors and they both provided their own ideas and imagination to the films. I honestly loved the way J.J bought such an amazing cast together and made such a powerful group and how he showed these new characters and bought them to the screen. Rian had made each character grow in their own individual ways and their growth over the period of the two films changes dramatically for some and not as much for others. I really loved the character development and growth of all and I especially loved Kylo, Rey and Luke's growth in the Last Jedi you see them all in a different perspective and light. I am also very excited to see how J.J Abrams will develop them further and how he and the cast are going transform them again for the next film. I think Rian and J.J are very similar to me they both have fresh ideas and they have similar insights in what makes a brilliant film.

: I found there was a slight gap in the sense of how did the First Order find the Rebel base. Other than that, it rolled on quite well.

Yes and no. The reason I say this is, as I previously had stated this movie felt like the title had stated. It was an end of a previous generations of hero's and a new era of hero's. I hope that makes sense.

Yes I think it was a sequel to The Force Awakens leaving off how Rey found Luke on Anch-To and how The First Order found the Rebel Base. They knew this information in the previous film which helped them target the base once again.

: The plot I found was quite self-explanatory that could have used some bigger detail to make it more of an edge of seat movie.

IT ALL MADE 100% SENSE I WAS SHOOK'TH AF. Everything was put into perfect detail, you just had to pay hella close attention.

I believe it did make sense very close detailed so you have to really pay attention there is a lot of Easter eggs too and I really loved the plot and it very well written bravo to the writers and Rian.

: I found that all the old characters were well played, for example Leia's usual sassy remarks and comments and it was nice to see a different, more lost and confused Luke than compared to his previous films. Then there of course is Chewbacca who is always lovely to see on screen, whether he's blowing up some stormtroopers, flying his ship, or getting frustrated with those adorable Porgs.

At first I didn't like the way Luke was being portrayed tbh. Luke was an icon, he was a hero, a Jedi. He was the protector and now he was afraid and weak, but it made perfect sense why. Luke in previous films we've seen he was a fighter, he was willing to do everything that was right. In this film, we didn't exactly see that from Luke, we saw a new man. A man who was afraid of his failure, and what he had caused. I also wish we could have seen more of Chewbacca but each scene he was in was absolutely precious. Leia, for my each scene with her was something I value'd and tried not to cry if I'm being completely honest. Alsoo lets talk about Poe for a moment, in the previous film we had only seen him as a pilot, like we didn't see much of his character but damn I really didn't know how much of a bad ass and kinda how reckless he was. I was hella shook'th by his development of character.

I loved how all the previous characters were played, even Luke it was different to see a different side of him. Although I will always love the farm boy from Tatooine in the beginning and his portrayal in The Return of the Jedi. I actually would have liked to see a little more of Finn and Poe in their own ways. I just feel there needed to be more of them not necessarily together but separate as well. I also agree with Perla on her opinion about Luke in the other films compared to the Last Jedi. I really loved Carrie performance as Leia in the last Jedi her sassiness never faltered and she remained the strong, powerful and enlighting princess she always was in the other films. I just wish we could have seen a little more of her but that is just my opinion.

: I felt the new characters such as Rose and purple hair lady were good additions even if purple hair lady still doesn't quite have my trust. But the code breaker guy was a guy like Han in Frozen. Good at first back a complete asshat at the end of it. To be honest, I never truly trusted the guy and felt like there were better ways to get done what needed to be done without a character as foolish as he was.

Each new character is a blessing. I did not like Vice Admiral Holdo (purple hair lady), at first I just wanted to fight her. I was ready to attack because she was hella annoying, but when I saw how her plans were starting to make sense and she sacrificed herself. I had mad respect for her. I thought Rose was such a lovely character but I just , didn't like her last scene. Now DJ the code breaker, a true scammer and an icon for scammers. He portrays such a new part, he is basically the people that neither care for The Resistance or for the First Order and that was a really nice perspective.

Okay I know she sacrificed herself for the Resistance but I didn't really like Vice Admiral Holdo, I respect her decision but I just don't know there was something about her I didn't like. I loved Rose however she was a fantastic addition to the film and I don't know I have a thing for bad guys so I loved DJ as well even though he used Finn and Rose. I loved his character and Benicio Del Toro portrayed him perfectly, but in the end each new character served a purpose in the film and to the plot well written characters.

Throughout the entire film I kept thinking someone would reveal they were siblings 😭😭. But I really liked there connection because like it just proved how much of a genius Kylo really is. He knew alone he couldn't face Snoke therefore if he got someone else who knew the ways of the force his plan would work HE WOULD KILL SNOKE. Bc Han was right, once Snoke was done with him , bye bye Kylo. So Kylo wanted to let the past die ( 😉) and I'm sure he wanted Rey on his team but Rey is a bowl of sunshine and she don't do no dark sith lords.

Being a Reylo shipper (please no hate) I loved their connection but I personally do not think there will be a romance between them in the next film. As much as I would love it I think there might be something between her and Poe. I loved the force bonds and how it connected Kylo and Rey emotionally and physically, they could see each other, feel each other and how they connected hands and how they saw different futures for each other was really interesting. I do hope it progresses further and I also admired the fact Kylo helped Rey and they fought together as one against an enemy which was very thrilling and a plot twist. Rey and Kylo have been labelled enemies since the force awakens came out, but I feel like they are somewhat enemies but they care for one another. They don't want to see each other get hurt, they both want to be there for each other and they feel the light and dark in each other. Their relationship is different compared to anyone else's relationships in the past in my opinion.

Yes and no. It made sense to me. Luke had always been known for his name as was Anakin. The Skywalker name held up so highly and respect, and everyone expect him to never fail, so when Luke finally did fail. It became such a big thing that Luke was gone and that everyone had to find him, especially when everything was going wrong why? Bc he was Luke Skywalker the protector of everyone, but he just felt like he didn't live up to the name anymore.

I actually like the shift of his character I think because we are so used of seeing him as a hero and strong fighter. We are not to sure whether we like the hermit side of Luke. But he was afraid of Ben's power and how Snoke had turned him in such short time. Ben is extremely powerful in the force which ever side he was apart of, his powers would be useful for either side. Luke feared for his nephew and feeling like he had failed everyone he hid away and shut himself from the force. I will always love the hero Luke but I like the Luke we seen in The Last Jedi. Mark Hamill did like always a fantastic job as his portrayal of Luke Skywalker.
