''We have to go back'' Rebekah said as they pulled over on the side of the road.

Looking over at her wide-eyed Amaya said ''No. We can't go back, Rebekah. We're finally free from all the stupid drama Niklaus had brought upon himself.'

''Amaya they need our help'' She rolled her eyes.

''No, they don't, they can handle it themselves.'' Maya tried to reason but Rebekah had already started up the car and turned back.

Maya had yet to utter a word to Rebekah as she drove them back to New Orleans. She had yet to understand why they needed to go back to help Klaus and Elijah find the wolf who couldn't keep herself out of trouble. So here she was, in the bayou with Elijah and Niklaus trying to find Hayley.

''We should head South towards the water,'' Elijah said.

''You seem quite determined to find the little wolf,'' Klaus said and raised a suggestive brow at his older brother.

''Tell me about it'' Maya muttered said making Klaus send her a knowing look.

''If I'm moving too fast for you, Niklaus, Amaya, you're welcome to wait in the car,'' Elijah said. ''Do be certain to leave the windows down.'' Maya rolled her eyes at him.

''Well by now I and Rebekah could be living our lives but no you just had to call us back.'' Maya tutted but as usual her comment went ignored by both originals.

''So, I've touched a nerve. You began to admire this girl.'' As Klaus continued talking Elijah stopped walking to turn around and face his brother. ''Perhaps that's why you've been barking orders since your return, hoping to impress Hayley by assuming the role of the family patriarch.''

''If you want to insist on treating her like a walking incubator, then that's your mistake''

Groaning in annoyance Maya said ''Can you bloody idiots stop arguing so we can find Hayley and so I and Rebekah can leave town.'' Looking at her with a mix of shock and hurt Klaus said ''You were going to leave again.''

''Of course, I was.'' Maya casually said as she looked ahead looking for any sign of the pregnant wolf.

''Were you even going to say goodbye'' He asked catching her off guard.

''If your asking me if I was going to say goodbye to you the answer is no. I'd rather not have a dagger in my heart because you don't want me to leave again'' Maya said recalling the day Klaus tried to dagger her because she wanted to leave him.

Suddenly Klaus looked around his surroundings with a knowing look in his eyes ''Have you found her scent.'' Asked Elijah eagerly.

''No. But I found someone else's'' Klaus smirked at them before he sped away.

''He cannot be serious'' Maya angrily whispered before they followed after him.

When they found Klaus he was near a vehicle that smelt familiar to Maya. ''This vehicle reeks of someone I thought I was rid of-

When the realization finally set in Maya said ''Tyler Lockwood'' At the same time as Klaus did making his head snap in her direction.

''How do you know Tyler?'' Klaus asked.

Brushing him off Maya just answered with ''Long story.''

''Why would your little Hybrid sidekick from Mystic Falls have any interest in Hayley'' Elijah asked as he watch Klaus pace.

''He wants revenge because I went after his girl'' Klaus said making Maya scoff out loud.

''Of course, you had to fall for Caroline Forbes.''

''Why do I suspect this is the least of your offences?''

Walking toward his brother and wife, Klaus said ''Back when I had the means to sire Hybrids, he was my first.'' Looking a little bit smug he continued by saying ''Although I didn't give him much choice in the matter.'' He jumped onto the car pulling out a blanket before smelling it.

Snickering Maya mumbled ''Bloody dog'' Making Klaus send her a glare.

''He was loyal in the beginning, but he grew subordinate. Turned my other Hybrids against me. I couldn't have that. So I massacred the lot of them'' Klaus was now facing Elijah as he spoke. ''Tyler ran like a coward before I could finish him off.''

Taking a step forward Elijah sensed like his brother was withholding some information so he asked ''Anything else that you would like to share?''

''Well there was this business with his mum''

''Ah. And you killed his mother. Wonderful.'' Maya said faking enthusiasm.

''He needed to be taught a lesson.'' He tried to justify himself but Elijah wasn't having it.

''And what lesson will you be taught, Niklaus. If he retaliates by harming Hayley?''

''So you do care about her'' Klaus pointed out making Maya narrow her eyes. She was starting to understand why Nik was so mad that Elijah cared about Hayley. ''Well, go on then. Have at it, brother. Save her. Claim what spoils you can. I've sampled what she has to offer, and let me tell" Klaus whispered ''She is exquisite.''

Maya knew that this was an attempt to make Elijah jealous but in the process, Klaus ended up angering Maya and making her hatred for the wolf grow even more. Any thoughts she had of becoming slightly civil with Hayley were now down the drain.

''NIklaus so help me-''

''Enough'' He pointed his finger to Elijah's face. ''I'll kill Tyler Lockwood myself'' He then sped off in the opposite direction leaving Maya and Elijah alone once again.

As they started looking for Hayley they found her with a knife hiding behind a tree. Hayley turned around holding the knife up to Amaya's face making her grab her wrist. ''Forgive me'' She said as she kept her face emotionless. ''We thought you were in danger. But I wasted my time coming back here because you seem perfectly fine.''

Dropping the knife Hayley hugged Maya making her cringe looking at Elijah she said ''Get her off me before I sent her flying through this damn bayou.'' Hearing her threat Hayley immediately let go of Maya looking down embarrassingly.

''Sorry. I just really needed a hug even if it was from you. I've had a crappy day.'' She said panting heavily.

''Let me take you home'' Elijah said but Hayley stopped him.

''Elijah.'' She grabbed his arm. ''There's something you need to know about the baby.''

When Hayley finished explaining what Tyler told her about the baby she added ''Klaus must have known.'' Maya snapped her head towards the wolf in disbelief. ''That's the only explanation. He could care less about the baby. He just wants her to be born so he can use her to make more hybrids. Although the way that Dwayne was acting, it was more like he was sired to me.''

''You cannot be serious,'' Maya said in anger. ''Tyler Lockwood kidnaps you and feeds you some false information about Klaus only wanting to keep the child because it could sire hybrids and you believe him.'' Walking closer and closer to Hayley until she was right in front of her ''You bitch'' she spat taking Hayley aback.

''I should take you home'' Elijah cut in putting some distance between Maya and Hayley before Maya could attack her.

''Are you serious? Home to what?''

''Look regardless of my brother's intentions, mine remains the same. I said that I would protect you, even if need be, from Klaus himself.'' Elijah said shocking Maya.

''Elijah, you can't seriously believe what the bloody wolf is saying,'' Maya said turning to face him.

''Amaya we and you both know Klaus's need for power,'' Elijah spoke further shocking Maya. Of course, she was still pissed at Klaus but she knew better than to think that he would use his child for his own selfish needs.

Looking at him pointedly Hayley said ''I can take care of myself. I've done it for a long time.'' Maya scoffed.

''Are you sure about that? Because the whole time we've been here all you've been doing is getting yourself in trouble. First sneaking out the house.'' Seeing Hayley's panicked expression at Maya's mention of her sneaking out she continued by saying ''Oh wait I bet Elijah didn't even know why you snuck out the house.''

Looking at her with a confused expression Elijah asked ''Amaya what are you talking about?''

''Maya please'' She begged making Maya snap.

''It's Amaya to you and to answer your question Elijah, Hayley snuck out the house while I was watching her to go drink wolfsbane so she could kill the baby'' Elijah looked at Hayley in shock.

''Hayley is this true.'' He asked the wolf who looked down in shame as Maya smirked in victory.

''I'm sorry.'' She mumbled as tears gathered in her eyes.

''We shall talk about this when we get home.''

''There you are'' Klaus said as he saw Maya, Hayley and Elijah walking toward him. ''I see you found our wandering stray. Perhaps she could shed some light on the situation. This...'' He trailed off kicking the dead body of a newly turned hybrid ''Would appear to be the body of a Hybrid.''

''His name was Dwayne,'' Hayley said closing her eyes before opening them again.

''Well whoever he was, I didn't sire him. Any idea how that's possible?'' Klaus asked looking at the three.

''As if you didn't know'' Hayley tried to walk towards Kalus but was pulled back by Elijah.

Seeing this Klaus smirked ''Ah. Aren't you two fast friends? Well, come on, then. What horrible accusation have you conspired to levy against me?''

''Tyler Lockwood brought Hayley here to test a theory.'' Klaus raised his eyebrows. ''That the blood of her child could be used to sire Hybrids. He claims that you knew that. Furthermore, you intend to use this knowledge to build an army.''

''And, of course, you assume it's true. I mean, why else would I show any interest in my flesh and blood? A heartbroken, little crybaby points his finger at me, and my brother and wife fall in line, eager to believe it.'' Klaus expressed.

''Actually, I tried to convince them that you don't want to use your child to build an army of Hybrids,'' Maya said shocking Klaus that she was defending him after everything that he's done to her. ''But of course, since Elijah is so desperately in need of love that he hangs on to Hayley's every word since she's the first girl who's shown him affection since Katherine'' She said making Elijah angrily glare at her and Klaus bark out a laugh.

''How quickly you assume the worst. Especially when it comes from her.'' Klaus looked at Hayley in anger.

''Spare me your indignation. When have you ever demonstrated any kind of concern towards Hayley or her child beyond your selfish pursuits? And what was it you once said to me? Elijah then paused for dramatic effect. ''Every king needs an heir.'' Elijah mocked.

Tilting his head slightly Klaus said ''My big brother... So, you doubt my intentions. Well, I can't say I'm surprised. Standing beside the noble Elijah, how can I be anything but the lesser brother? A liar, a manipulator, a bastard?'' Maya could see the hurt in Klaus's eyes that he tried to hide. She could never believe that Elijah would ever accuse his brother of such a thing. But then again it shouldn't surprise her he does tend to do things like this.

Walking closer to his brother Klaus asked ''That's all I am to you, isn't it? And to Rebekah? Maybe even you Amaya? Judging by the way Hayley hangs on your every word. She feels the same way. No doubt, my child, will as well.''

''Brother if I-

Grabbing onto his shoulder Klaus said ''We have said all that needs to be said, brother.'' When Klaus started backing away with a newfound smirk on his face that's when Maya knew he was up to something. Her suspicions were only confirmed when Klaus said ''I'll play the role I've been given.'' Speeding to Elijah he bit his neck leaving him with a werewolf bite. ''You two enjoy each other's company. You'll have much to bond over, once the hallucinations and dementia set in. Consider that bite my parting gift to you both.'' Turning to Amaya he asked ''Coming love?''

''Yeah in just a second.'' When she looked at Elijah she just smirked before saying ''Can't say you didn't deserve that''

Looking at her in disgust Hayley said ''How can you just let him do that''

''Simple. He deserved it.'' Maya said then left to join Klaus who was waiting for her in the car.

''Thank you'' He said when she got in.

Looking at him she asked ''What for''

''For not believing the lies they were telling'' Smiling softly at him Maya said ''I know you, Klaus, you may be evil as everybody likes to say but you would never do that to your child. Because then it would only mean one thing.''

Raising his eyebrows he asked ''What could that be.''

''You'd be no better than Mikael.

Klaus stood near the window with a glass of alcohol in his hands while Maya sat on the couch when suddenly Rebekah walked in ''Where's Elijah and Hayley''

''I left them in the bayou.'' He said as he turned to face his sister.

''Good Riddance'' Commented Maya.

Knowing she was in for a lot Rebekah took a seat on one of the couches and asked ''why?''

''Elijah and I had a bit of a row. Hayley has conspired to turn him against me. And you know our brother never was one to resist a pretty face. So one thing led to another and I bit him. Left them both stranded in the swamp.''

Looking at him in anger Rebekah raised her voice ''Daggering, Bitting, deserting. Does your wickedness ever end?''

''My wickedness is self-preservation, and I wouldn't have to go to such lengths were I not beset on all sides by incompetence and treachery. Now that Elijah has abandoned me, I'll be needing you in my plot against Marcel. Don't expect to be leaving town any time soon.''

Maya chuckled ''I'm sure you could use your little therapist to do your dirty work. Right Rebekah?''

''Is someone jealous'' Klaus asked making Maya's smirk drop.

''You wish''

''Why should I help you after what you did to Elijah?'' Rebekah inquired.

''You're my family.'' He said. ''Besides, who better to spy on Marcel than the girl he so clearly loves?'' Klaus sat in front of Rebekah with his glass refilled ''You can tell me all his secrets. Like how did he find us here? Huh? Any idea about that, little sister?''

Maya knew that was no coincidence that Rebekah had gone to visit Marcel and then he came back the same night knowing their exact location it had to have been Rebekah who told him. If not he probably got into her head while they were getting hot and steamy.

''How should I know why Marcel does what he does?'' Rebekah asked looking guilty already giving Maya the answer she needed.

''You think I don't know about your engineered run-ins all over the Quarter? I know you've had private chats with him. So, just tell me what secrets he's confided to you.''

Maya wanted so badly to help Rebekah but she couldn't she had already been caught by her brother and now there was nothing she could do except for watching the scene before her.

''Is he plotting against me?'' Klaus asked worriedly.

Looking him dead in the eyes Rebekah said ''My poor brother, so paranoid. Marcel knows nothing. He's not plotting against you. He simply thinks your in a quarrel, in need of making up.'' It was so easy to see through Rebekah so when she said that Maya so easily knew she was lying and she was sure Klaus did too.

''Perhaps we will.'' Pointing his finger at her ''After all, you know I'm capable of forgiving those who disappoint me as soon as they've seen the error of their ways and suffered for them. You'd do well to remember that.'' Klaus got up and left just as Rebekah said ''You never let me forget.''

Since they were alone and Maya knew Klaus was out of earshot Maya turned to Rebekah and asked ''Whatever you and Marcel are planning I want in''
