《Devil in My Heart》Death or Alive

8 months later...
It was getting late, time to go to work. On the way to the tavern, I passed an old lady who was walking alone. Out of compassion, I give her some money even though it was not much. She thanked me with a smile. Before leaving, she said, "May your sustenance increase and be prosperous."
"Thank you. I hope you also arrive home safely." I answered.
Then I heard, that the other elderly women around were talking about me.
"A good boy who cares about others even though he also lives an ordinary life and is far from luxury, he still does charity." The first old lady said.
"Yes, he is exemplary. May the gods bless the good boy," replied the second lady.
"But even though he's helped a lot, his life is like that and no progress at all," refuted the third lady.
"Don't say it like that, ," replied the first lady.
The two old ladies agreed with the first lady's words.
In my mind, sometimes when I see someone in need, I try to help them. If there is an opportunity to do charity, I give. I do not think or expect this kindness to be fruitful or reciprocated in the future. However, I got help from villagers. Some people gave me food, fruit, and other crops. Come to think of it, my kindness also bears fruit through the villagers.
. I am grateful and humbled by my current life. Through the income from my job, I can make many people happy. This life will be more meaningful. That's how I motivate myself to work hard.
While keep walking, I hear people talking that there were rumors that asuras came on a full moon night. I noticed it for a moment and then ignored it. Although some people I met advised me to be careful and not to come home late at night.
Arriving at the tavern, I worked as usual. Sometimes, I help my partner to serve food and drinks. There was one waiter other than me and one more the owner. He is a foster mother's friend. Despite the rumors, this tavern is still quite crowded.

The night was getting late and of course, it was almost time to closed. But suddenly there is a group of creatures who break down the door.
Brakkk!!!
Hearing the commotion, I was shocked and saw a figure taller than average humans. Those who tried to resist were instantly killed. Blood splattered. Because of their sharp claws, they stabbed with their hands. I was stunned. There was blood splattering on my cheek. My legs went limp and then I fell on my face. In my mind, is this the end of my life? Ah... this life is transient. While lying down, I pretended to be dead. In that silence, I heard their conversation.
"Hey, why did you kill them?" asked female asura.
"Oi... They were the ones who attacked first. My claws accidentally scratched them," replied male asura.
"Huh? Accidentally?? Don't joke!" I thought.
Then a lady's voice was heard.
"Those who light the fire first. Humans are greedy creatures who destroy our territory and hunt for fun. It's about time we will show them our fangs." Female asura spoke.
Stuck in my mind. What are the conditions of my partner and the owner? Before I could think any further about them, I heard footsteps coming closer and closer to me. My position is behind him.
Then a creature I don't see existed gently wiped the blood that was on my cheek and touched my neck. Even though at first, I tried to calm down and surrender if I had to end up here, but still there was a creeping fear, so I gulped.
"Oh my god." In my mind.
Then a male voice said, "Hey, what are you doing there? "Are you sad because you have to watch this and don't like killing?"
"What? This creature near me doesn't kill. But why is he here?" I was amazed.
The creature near me was silent and then a lady's scream was heard. "Aaargh!!!"
With a sinister smile, the male asura said, "Heh? Turns out a mouse is hiding."
"Please let me go..." The lady is crying and pleading.

With my eyes closed, I still guarded myself by pretending to be dead. "What should I do? That lady is in danger."
"What if this lady's heart is taken out for our meal?" The male asura was merely scaring her but had no intention of killing.
The lady screamed even more hysterically, "No. Please..."
When the crucial moment peaked, the asura who was near the youth wanted to save the woman. But just as he was about to stand up,
Right in front of me was a creature with a mask and one ponytail that was still on one knee touching the floor. He is near me. The other two were near the broken door. One muscular and tall male asura with visible abs and muscular hands. Hair short and earthy brown color make him look fierce, but he had good-looking. The creature pointed the fingers of his right hand as if to stab the lady's heart while the left hand gripped her neck. Meanwhile, beside him, there is a beautiful female asura with bangs and long black hair.
Horrible sight. They were all surprised by my presence.
"Let go of the lady!!" shouted me firmly.
"What am I doing here? What's wrong with me? I can pretend don't know this incident." That's what's on my mind.
"It turns out there are other insects. Are you her lover?" The female asura said as her right hand ruffled her long hair back as if she was displaying her charms. She walked slowly elegant toward the young man.
"No. I can't just let it go."
"So, you have enough power against us? Do you want to be a hero?"
Inwardly, I said, "What she said is true. What am I doing here? Do I want to be a new hero?"
Then without further ado, the asura quickly came up to me with a smile, her left hand touching my shoulder and then her right knee kicking my stomach until I bounce off.
"What sensation is this? The nausea was so intense that I vomited saliva. My back hit the wall and I sat helplessly. Then she walked over gracefully, grabbed my neck with sinister eyes, and said, "Do you realize your position as a weak creature?"
After saying that, she immediately threw me while still clutching my neck against the wooden floor.
I'm helpless.
The asura man smiled, "You are so rude, Leona."
"Aren't you a sadist too, Leander?" She said while walking towards the male asura who was still strangling the lady.
My body is crushed. I tried to get up and staggered because of the head bump. Eventually, I fell and was only able to kneel on one leg. One more leg to support me, as I'm still trying to stand up.
"Still not yet." With a weak voice, I tried to say it. I feel that my bones are fractured and will die today. But I want to say one thing.
They were surprised to hear my persistence, especially Leona.
"This man is stubborn too," said Leander.
With my position still kneeling on one leg, Leona turned around in annoyance and grabbed my head intending to lift me. But the turban covering my head came off. That's when my black hair fell long. They were surprised for a moment.
I said,
Then a male asura with one ponytail hair and who wore a mask, covering his face, remembered something. ,
Then, Leona lifted me by pulling my hair. The pain sensation from pulling my hair seemed to pierce.
Suddenly an asura wearing a mask come and parried her hand effortlessly until she was thrown away while saying, "That's enough." He needed no more effort to stop his friend.
Leander saw and then let go of his grip. In a flash, he restrained Leona before crashing into the wall.
I fell into the chest of this masked asura. My vision began to blur and dim while seeing part of his face. I can see his right cheek while the rest of his face is covered by a mask.
"What kind of power is this creature?" I thought. Then, I fell unconscious.

There will be some action, but it won't be the focus of the story and Vee and his friends will usually overcome their problems with their minds and their pocketbooks instead of their weapons. Since I'm participating in the writeathon, I will probably be uploading chapters almost daily for the duration of the event. Thanks for reading!

DROPED. This is a story about a guy who died and went isekai. While the characters may sometimes may seem too crazy, they are simply that, crazy. Some things are basic, like earth magic is stronger underground, or the law of equal exchange, but everything is explained at it's own time. Also on Webnovel.
