Mom walks in with groceries and Dad follows. Me and Sam get some bags and come back. "So anything fun happen while I was gone?" Mom aksed.

"Nope, Nah." Me and Samuel said at the same time.

Me and Samuel looked at each other and laughed.

"Hey, actually, I was gonna run into town and grab a couple things for dinner tonight.

"Alright just don't be long.." Mom said as her and dad left.

"Where you gonna go?" I asked.

"Actually, do you want to go swimming?" He asks, and my face lit up with excitement.

"Oh hell yes!" I run upstairs to get my bathing suit on.

"Mom, I'm going to -uh- Shelby's for little bit" I said from outside Mom's door before I left. She let me go and and ran downstairs.

"Wait, but we can't swim on the water by our dock, Shawn might come out there" I stated.

"That's why I've got it all planned out. Just, down worry about it" He said and we climbed into his truck quietly.

We drove to the lake shore on the other side of the neighborhood. As we pulled into the lot, I saw a red blanket laid across the dark sand on the bank. It had a basket and two glasses.

"No way you did that" I said jokingly as we get off his truck. He laughs and I run to it. I sit on the red blanket and open the basket.

"You like it?" Sam asks.

"Are you kidding?! This is sweetest thing ever" I say as I pull him into a kiss. "You're such a cliche," I joke and he laughs.

He pulls out two glasses and a bottle.

"Woah there, in case you forgot, I'm still the same age as yesterday" I say.

"Relax, it's just grape juice" He responds and pours some into a glass.

"I hope we work out." I say looking at the glistening lake.

"I have a feeling that we will, and to that I cheer" He says laughing. We clink our glasses together and laugh.

"Last one in's a rotten egg" I say and I gt up and run into the lake. Samuel catches up to me and wraps his arms around my stomach and picks me up. We get in the water and swim, and laugh, and talk. It felt like I've been with him for a long time.

We get out of the water, get the red blanket and lay it out on the back of Samuel's truck. We later there in each others arms looking at the late noon sky.

We laid in silence. It wasn't awkward silence. It was just that kind of I'm-only-thinking-of-you silence. I never wanted it to end. I wished that things couldn't move been different and people would be more understanding of us. We were star-crossed for each other, but we couldn't express that to our families. It would be too risky.

Instead, we laid there, and enjoyed the little time of what felt like freedom to our selves.
