Samar's POV
Suman was looking magnificent in her bridal attire. I wasn't able to take my eyes off her. Now when I look at her, I not only see the person I love but my wife. I loved her yesterday, I loved her today morning but right now, at this exact moment, the love that I had for her took another face. I was feeling so connected to her, like a part of me was with her and why wouldn't I? Marriage is a magical bond. It connects two souls, not just in this life but after life as well, till eternity.
Holding her hand when I got down from mandap, I rolled my eyes. Saaliyaan!
"Sanam? Mere jootein kaha hai?" I asked my brother through gritted teeth.
Instead of my brother the reply came from my left side, "Jootein yaha hai, Jijjaji."
I turned and saw Warisha standing along with Suman's cousin, flashing my jootis.
"Jija ji?" I questioned.
"Well..." She took slow graceful steps towards us, "jab Tak humein joote chipayi ke paise nahi milte tab Tak ke liye tum mere 'jija ji'." She grinned.
"Acha... To kitne paise chahiye?"
"Array Samar," Sanam put his hand on my shoulder, "tu Kyu zehmat Kar Raha h? Teri saaliyoon se baat Suman ke Dewar karenge." He came forward, "To haanji mere Bhai ki saali sahiba, Kya demand hai aapki?" He smirked.
Warisha looked at other girls and the looked back at us forwarding their demand, "Zyada kuch nahi bas Ekyawan Hazaar?" She stated casually.
"What?"
"What? Fifty-one thousands....only." she smiled.
"Ek kiss."
Everyone looked at Sanam confusedly. Warisha widened her eyes as a "Ji?" came out her mouth.
"Ek-kiss Hazaar..Twenty-one thousands." Sanam smirked enjoying his pun and everyone who got it chuckled while Warisha smirked raising her eyebrows with so we are doing this now?
"I think I was loud and clear enough when I said fifty-one thousands." She repeated her demand.
Keshav joined Sanam saying, "Have you seen for face..what Sanam said is what you deserve.." he looked at Sanam asking the Hindi figure and Sanam prompted, " Ekkiss."
"Yeah..haa.. Ek-kiss." He repeated.
One of Suman's cousin came forward, "Kanjoos log...We were about to ask one lakh and fifty one thousand but this Warisha!" She eyed are disapprovingly, " hamare side hote hue bhi...Dulhe ke side wale kaam Kar rahi hai."
" Kya..Kya. Kya? Kitne chahiye the firse bolna?" Sahil gasped. " Der lakh? Kiss Khushi Mein?"
" Arrrayyyyy... Meri behen ki Shaadi hai, is Khushi Mein!" She pulled on a fake frown. " Aur hum 15 saaliyaan bhi to hai...to 10-10 sabke liye." She chirped.
" Bhalai ko to zamana hi nahi Raha." Warisha mumbled quietly. " You were right Kiran, Tera bola hua hi amount bolna chahiye tha."

"Tu apna melodrama side rakh please." Sahil said plainly to Warisha, "but pandrah saali..." He came beside me, putting his arms around my shoulder he said, "wah Samar! Maze hai Tere. Apni itni saaliyoon Mein se ek-aadhi mujhe bhi Dede." He requested making people around us chuckle.
"Oh hello, Mister?!" One of those fifteen cousin snapped her fingers in front of Sahil's face. "Yaha Kya hum daan Mein khade hai Jo tum Jiju se aise maang rahe ho.." she repeated in a high pitched voice, imitating and mocking him, " ek aadhi mujhe bhi Dede. Chup-chap paise nikalo aur Rasta naapo."
" Haaye Samar, kitni rude hai Teri saali yaar." Sahil pouted to irritated them more.
" Yaarrrrrrrrr..." Warisha whined. " Ab de bhi do na paise. Itni bhi Kya kanjoosi." She came to me, " Samar, apne bhaiyon ko chhodo. Tumhare aur hamare beech ki baat hai." She forwarded her hand. " Laao... paise nikalo."
"Uhm..." I looked around at my family and friends. The elders were very much enjoying this.
"Kya uhm? Nikalo bhyi!"
"Samar, dekh ekkis se ek rupaaye zyada mat dena." Sanam warned.
I quickly looked at the speaker, Warisha, " Uski baat mat suno Samar! Tumne pehle hi suna na inki demand kitni thi. I already helped you. Ab to Meri izzat rakh lo aur dedo hamara shagun." She requested with childish expression.
" Samar, ekkis..." Sanam prompted.
"Array Kya ekkis-ekkis laga rakha hai!" Warisha snapped at Sanam and people around us chuckled at the way Sanam flinched standing straight. "Ekkis dena hai na? Theek hai! Samar Hume hamari demand dega... Tum alag se ekkis de Dena, okay?" She plastered her fake smile crossing her hands.
"Done!" Sanam chirped and turned to me, "chal Samar, nikal paise!" He took out two bundles of notes from my pocket and gave it to Warisha. "Yeh lo tumhare ekyawan Hazaar aur Ek-kiss Tumhe miljayega...sirf Tumhe." He winked.
Warisha stood there with her jaws hung open as Sanam handed her the money. Keshav and I were trying not to burst out laughing. Sahil was patting Sanam's back for this. I have to admit. Even though I hate Sanam's puns but, this has to be my favorite SANAMism!
Kiran took the money from her then and there, "yeh paise Hume de, tujhe to Tera personal shagun Dulhe ka Bhai specially dega!" She snapped her fingers, " Girls?!" And one little 12 years old girl came running to me with my shoes. " Jiju aapke jute." She smiled keeping it in front of me.
One by one the saali squad was leaving and Sahil came forward again, "Oh hello hello?! Dulhe ki saaliyoon, designer duppatte waaliyoon.." the girls turned hearing this and he asked, "paise lekar kaha jaa rahi ho? Mere Bhai ko jute kaun pehenayega?"
"Kyu? Aapka Bhai baccha hai Kya?" They giggled.
" Paise kis baat k liye hai bhyi?"

" To jise extra shagun milraha hai to use hi kahe na extra kaam karne. Hum to jaa rahe hai." She waved dramatically.
Warisha sat down in front of me with her smiling face. I stepped back, "pagal hogayi ho, Warisha? Kya Kar rahi ho?"
"Uff... Samar. Rasm hai, chill!" She said calmly.
" Warisha utho.." I asked her to get up. " Tumhe ya kisi aur ko koi zaroorat nahi hai yeh karne ki."
" Haa beta.." Mom came forward, " uth jao."
" Tch aunty.. Maine pehle bhi Kiya hai. Sabse choti hi cousins Mein. Aadat hai. Aur Tum baitho!" She pinched my feet. Ouch . " Warna gira dungi." She warned teasingly.
"Baith jaa beta..yeh nahi sunne wali." Sanam mumbled and I sat on the chair as Warisha began to fit me my shoes.
Kaise rasm hai yeh?
She clapped her hands clean, getting up.
"I'll be back. Aur ab Dulhe k side se!" She giggled walking away. Probably to wash her hands.
"Sanam.." I called my brother.
"Haa Samar?" He came to me and I asked him quietly, "Just go and check on her...kahi woh Sahil ki baaton se upset na ho."
He nodded in reply and followed her.
Soon after it was the time for Bidai. Aunty and everyone from Suman's family had tears in their eyes as they were biding their daughter bye. It was a heart wrenching scene seeing my Suman like that. She was hugging her mom and her dad wrapped his arms around the two ladies in his life to calm them down, even when his own eyes were teary.
"Papa..." She sobbed hugging her father. He put his hand on back of her head. He then kissed her forehead and was again he kept her daughter's hand in mind, "Mere bacchi ka khayal rakhna, Samar."
"Zaroor, Uncle." I nodded taking his blessings.
Once we were inside the car, I intertwined my hand with hers, "I can't see you crying, Suman. Please Rona band Karo." I requested softly.
"Tumhe Kya pata...tum thodi apni family se door jaa rahe ho." She complained, sobbing.
" Sshh..sshh..ssh..." I held her face and she slapped it away and kept her head on my shoulder. I smiled wrapping my arms around her. "It's okay...hum Kal hi tumhare Mom Dad se Milne aayenge."
"Tumhare?" She question with a tiny hiccup.
Then I corrected my sentence, "Hum Kal hi Mom Dad se Milne aayenge, theek hai?"
She nodded, sniffing and I rubbed my palms on her forearm to calm her. Letting her know that she isn't leaving her family but getting a new one.
We came back home with my mom waiting for us with an Aarti and the door having the kalash and plate with red stain to welcome us or should I quote the elders...Ghar ki Laxmi.
Smiling and being by each other's side we entered the home as a married couple.
We sat facing each other with a bowl filled with milk and flowers kept in front of us.
"Rules to pata hai? Three rounds honge... Whoever finds the ring two times, wins!" Meera clapped.
"Samar, haarna mat!" Warisha warned.
"Tu to mere side thi na.." Suman complained.
" Woh to waha thi...ab yaha Samar k side." She grinned wrapping her arms around my neck. I kept my hand over hers and added, "Plus- she can't see me losing." I looked sideways to face her, "hai na, Warisha?"
"Ji BILKUL!" She let go of me, "ab jaldi Karo!"
Suman and I both put our hand inside the vessel and began our quest. There were giggles and cheers echoing around us. The ring was yet to be found but the brief moment when our fingers were touching followed by the shy eye contact were such beautiful moments. In between that moment I smiled taking out the ring.
"Yay!" Everyone clapped. Suman made a childish frown as Mom dropped the ring back again. This time Suman wasn't even glancing anywhere but ardent to find the ring. I suppressed my smile holding her hand that obviously no one could see. She looked up at me with a slightly pissed expression that swiftly changed into confused when I gave her the ring that I found. With the same confused expression but twinkling eyes she flashed the ring to everyone and earned cheers for herself.
"Last round!" Warisha announced dropping the ring for the last time.
I was wondering my hand lazily inside the vessel as I didn't have any intention to find the ring. Just like before, my eyes never left her. She smiled looking at me and I smiled back when she held my hand. She signed me to lean in. I looked around and everyone teased us.
"Sunlo, sunlo..must be requesting, Samar please mujhe harana mat!" My cousin and friends teased.
I leaned towards her a little and she whispered to me, "Warisha isn't the only one who can't see you losing."
I scrunched my eyebrows a little when she moved back and also took her hand off mine and I could feel the ring in my fist that she left. She smiled with a wink.
Suman!
I looked at her admiringly as I took out the ring and everyone announced my win.
"Wah mere Sher!" Sanam patted by back. Warisha and Meera hugged me from either side and Suman was looking at us with a smile.
I stretched out my hand asking for hers. She raised her eyebrows questioningly and I signed her to give her hand. She finally kept her hand over mine.
"From now on.. it's never going to be my win alone... It's ours." I smiled putting the ring in her finger. She looked down shyly and everyone clapped again for us.
