***
Zara dekho to kaise sabhi ladkiyo ke saath dance Kar raha hai! Ek baar performance hojane do, I swear use chhodungi nahi! I made a mental note while seeing Sanam dancing on Kangna Tera Ni. I understand it's his brother's wedding, to dance Karena. Ab har ladkiyo ke haath pakar Kar unke kangne ko point out karna zaroori hai? That, too with those cheeky flirty expression! Huh! I carried a childlike frown watching his performance.
"Kitna cute lagraha hai, Sanam! Apne nautanki mein spotlight legaya." Meera chuckled keeping her hand on my shoulder. I gave a balanced smile, na Kam, na zyada.
Jitni nautanki karni hai karlo, beta. Jab tumhari yeh nautanki khatam hogi na, tab mera tamashaa shuru hoga. I was looking at his dancing figure with an I-will-kill-you smile.
But all this while I was feeling a little weird, like someone was watching me. Performance toh stage pe chal rahi hai, to mujhe kaun dekh raha hai? I looked around for some clue and then heard some murmuring voice coming from back.
"Yahi hai woh.."
Woh who? Me?
Intrigued by it I concentrated on the murmurs.
"Yeh?" Another lady asked in audible whisper.
"Haa.. kayi mahino tak Samar aur Sanam ke saath rehti thi, unke ghar par."
"Maine to suna dono saath hai, ek doosre ko pasand karte."
I don't know in what manner they were talking about me but it didn't feel good to me. I felt a knot in my stomach.
Meera nudged me, "Ayee Kya hua?"
I shook my head in response, giving her a brief smile.
She narrowed her eyes unconvinced from my reply and with her expression it seemed she also started listening to what I was.
"Ab Inka Kya pasand aur napasand?" I heard them chuckle, "Roz jhagadte the studio mein. My son works there, usne bola. Inka to break up bhi hogaya tha kisi model k wajah se.. par dekho, abhi bhi yeh Shaadi mein hai."
"Tch... rumours bhi hosakte hai, ache dost bhi hosakte hai."
Meera's face looked really displeased after hearing the conversation. She was about to turn but I held her hand signing her to ignore it.
And the woman gossiping about me concluded with the epic line, "Jo bhi ho, Hume Kya?"
I left out a humourless chuckle. After hearing their conversation, I wanted to be alone for sometime. I turned to walk but Meera stopped me, "kaha jaa rahi hai?"
"Bus waha.." I pointed at some distance.
"Kyu?"
I blink a few times and licked my lips which felt dry, "uhm..woh..mera performance hai na. So anxiety kicking in." I chuckled, "I need to get over it. I'll be back." I assured and walked away from the crowd to a corner.

After Ameera left, I was so cut off with my surrounding that I didn't even know what people were talking about me. Yeah.. once I heard from Sahil that Sanam and my break-up news were hot topic in media for some days but I didn't know there might be such backstory circling around as well. Finding a bench nearby I sat on it, heaving a long sigh I closed my eyes leaning back on the bench till my head rested on it.
After couple of minutes in silence, I flinched a little when I felt someone keeping their hand in me but I relaxed after recognizing the touch.
"Sanam.." I smiled opening my eyes.
"Warisha..." He said my name in same manner, "yaha kya kar rahi ho?" He wiggled his eyebrows.
"Apne performance ke pehle ka ritual." I tried to sound as convincing as I could but the next second I knew that I failed after hearing him saying, "Jhuth."
"You got me." I chuckled, "Tumhare us flirty performance ka gussa shaant karne ka ritual." I tried again.
"Phir Jhuth." He said casually.
How does he know me so well?
I remained silent, not knowing what else should I say.
He held my hand and stood up, "Chalo."
"Sanam, abhi time hai mere performance ko." I said weakly.
"Ji nahi! Abhi time hai hamare performance ka!" He grinned.
I looked at his confused. What does he mean?
"Kya? Aise look Kya de rahi ho? Mere saath perform nahi karna tumhe?" He asked trying to sound offended.
"Hamara performance?" I was still confused, "we are not performing together. Hamara koi performance nahi hai list mein."
"Yeh MERE BHAI ki Shaadi hai. I don't need any list to tell me when, why with whom I'm gonna perform."
"But hum ne rehearse bhi nahi Kiya hai." I pointed.
Hearing this he pulled me in such way that I stood up in a jerk, almost crashing against him.
Looking into my eyes he said, "Hume kabse rehearse karne ki zaroorat padne lagi?"
"But-"
"No buts..Chalo ab." He took me with him near the stage.
I was standing by the wings, waiting to get on the stage without any slightest idea what I was gonna do. This Sanam I tell you!
My eyes went wide when I heard the upbeat retro music that was just started. I looked at Sanam nervously who had his cocky smile on.
"Sanam..." I hissed when he was taking on the stage. "Sanam! I am not performing on this!"
"Exactly! Not I but We are!"
"Sanam, no!" I tried to stop him as the introduction music was going.
"You have no other choice but to dance." He smiled wickedly shaking with the music as the lyrics started-

Aaj kal tere mere pyaar ke charche har zubaan par....
Sabko maalum hain aur sabko khabar ho gayi.
He was circling around me, teasing me with the lyrics.
Why did he choose this song so suddenly?
With him dancing around me, teasing me with his steps and expression, like he said- I had no choice but to dance with him. I'm damn sure my initial step must have been awkward-est. Which was me lip syncing with the song and moving my shoulders timidly.
But Sanam was on some crazy pills I guess, as the music part came, he held my hand doing I don't know what steps and only thing weirder than that was I was actually keeping up with him.
Humne to pyaar mein aisa kaam kar liya
Pyaar ki raah mein apna naam kar liya
Pyaar ki raah mein apna naam kar liya....
By this time I really forgot everything that was in my mind. I laughed heartily dancing with him showing all the retro moves that have learned from Shammi Kapoor. Did I ever mention I'm a big Shammi & Rajesh Khanna fan? No? Well...you know now.
I held his hand circling around him doing that retro hip moves- Aaj kal tere mere pyaar ke charche har zubaan par....
Sabko maalum hain aur sabko khabar ho gayi..
I started this performance without my wish but now I was actually enjoying it. I stood behind him and peeping from his either of shoulder one by one I moved with the lyrics.
Do badan ek din, ek jaan ho gaye
Manzilein ek hui, humsafar ban gaye
Manzilein ek hui, humsafar ban gaye...
He held my hand pulling me in front and what it seemed like we were doing some rock n roll steps now? Our performance was about less dance and more laughter, teasing and blushing. Even people around us were giggling and chuckling, enjoying whatever on Earth we were doing.
I looked into his eyes and my grin changed into a soft admiring smile when I realized why we were dancing on this track. His eyes smiling at me spoke that Meera told him what we heard back during his performance. He pulled close to himself in a jerk, taking me by surprise as he held me by my waist and with his strong eyebrow game.
Kyun bhala hum darein, dil ke maalik hain hum..
Har jana mein tujhe apna maana sanam...
I grinned hearing this line. Even though it was boys part I took the lead lip syncing with it
Kyun bhala hum darein, dil ke maalik hain hum..
Har jana mein tujhe apna maana sanam...
I kept my hands on his shoulder and looking into his eyes I continued-
Har jana mein tujhe apna maana sanam...
He smiled widely after this and spinning me I continued with the chorus giving a 'look' specially at those two ladies who were talking about me. I looked at the two ladies as I kept supported my elbow on Sanam's shoulder, shaking a little and maintaining an eye contact with him.
Aaj kal tere mere pyaar ke charche har zubaan par....
Sabko maalum hain aur sabko khabar ho gayi..
By the end of it Sanam and I went crazy with our steps. We we twirling, spinning, laughing and maybe tripping, too.
I examined the crowd once again and the look that the two ladies had made this performance much memorable for me. I looked at Sanam with admiring eyes, and then, I felt his hand intertwining with my as we descended the stair. I couldn't move my eyes away from my hands. Him holding my hand in front of all these people as we walked towards his family meant so much to me that I can't even put it in words. He looked back at me with a smile that said he was sure of what he was doing. I lowered my gaze with a shy smile.
How silly I was to get upset after hearing to what other people were saying. It doesn't even matter when I know what Sanam & I share... What we have gone through and how much we mean to each other.
