《Tum Mile - A Sanam Puri Fanfic》Ch- 35. Dumb Charades

It was past ten now and the bonfire was set after we all had dinner in the backyard of the villa. We men tried our best to decorate the trees and plants with some fairy lights which gave the backyard a dreamy and aesthetic look.

Both the kiddos were too tired after playing games the entire day and eating the delicious food that Soumya and I prepared for everyone. As a result, they went back to their room early to sleep.

I was in the kitchen making vegan hot chocolate for everyone as it was getting pretty chilly outside.

"Here you go," I said handing over two mugs to Samar, one was his and the other one was for Bhabhs.

"Thanks, Chote," he said accepting the warm mugs.

I was about to hand over Keshu's to him but before I could, he had already grabbed two mugs. Making me raise an eyebrow at him in confusion.

"Don't worry bro, I got mine and Arpita's, " he grinned showing off the mugs in his hands.

Arpita. . . Guess that explains all the delight spread across his face.

"SANAM! DUDE! Grab yours quick and let's head back to the girls before the weather freezes them to ice." He joked.

"Uhh. . Yeah, " I grabbed my mug and tailed behind the two.

Keshu went straight to Arpita who had herself wrapped in a comfy-brown shawl, warming her palms against the heat radiating from the bonfire as she and Soumya giggled about something when we three arrived.

Keshu offered her the warm mug of hot chocolate along with his classic, charming smile. Her petite hands accepted the warm mug and wrapped her fingers delicately around the ceramic vessel. The warmth radiating from it brought a pleasant smile to her face as she mumbled 'thanks' to both Keshu and me.

Samar settled beside his beloved wife whereas I sat alone on the only free chair facing Arpita and Keshav.

For an unknown reason, I felt a certain uneasiness in my chest watching the two, sit side by side and Keshu pulling his chair to sit closer to her, only added more to it.

What the hell is wrong with me? I already know what feelings he holds for her and yet I feel like he's taking away something that belongs to me.

Wait. . .

What am I even thinking?

Am I-

Am I being. . . jealous of Keshu?

"Ridiculous!" Unintentionally, I blurted out loud. Everyone's eyes landed on me. I shifted uncomfortably on my chair and took a sip of my hot chocolate pretending that I didn't say anything.

"Is anything wrong, Sanam?" Soumya asked being concerned.

"Uh... No, everything is perfectly fine," I smiled toothily to look normal.

Foolish of me.

Soumya lifted a brow suspiciously as she glanced at Arpita and Keshav and then back at me before a mild smirk played across her lips in self-realization.

Great! No wonder she is the perfect match for my brother.

I stole a quick peek at Arpita who was already looking at me with a worried face, her glowing brown eyes seemed to be inquiring if I was okay which I certainly wasn't because my heartbeats elevated as if someone caught it red-handed at a crime scene.

I forced a short smile at her as a nonverbal answer. "What were you guys laughing about though?" I tried to change the subject and thankfully it worked.

"Ahh, we were just rejoicing our old times." She told us happily.

"You're saying it like we're in our 50's." Arpita chuckled.

"Oh, com'on Aaru!" She blushed before continuing the story with utmost enthusiasm, "And do you guys know that this Chota packet (gesturing to Arpita) was a big dhamaka during our college days."

"Really?!" Keshu eyes shined brighter than the flames of the bonfire.

"You bet! She was the Radha of our Janmashtami function. What amazing moves man! I can still remember it like it was yesterday," Soumya clasped her palms together as she looked up at the space.

"Woah! Radha huh?" I said teasingly.

I saw her cheeks turn pinkish as she took a sip from her mug. "It was nothing special really..." she said shyly.

"So we have both Radha and Keshav here with us, ha?" Samar commented casually.

"Omg! That's so accurate!" Soumya laughed.

I saw Keshu scratching the nape of his neck in embarrassment while Arpita chuckled awkwardly.

I mentally slapped my forehead while cursing Samar for blabbing such embarrassing things out of the blue.

Later on, as the night proceeded we spent some time doing random chit chat before Soumya came up with another crazy game idea. "Hey, guys let's play a game!" She announced.

"A game? Again?" I asked tiredly.

"Pardon me, coz I'm too tired to play anything right now," said her husband who was lying lazily on the bean bag beside her.

"I'm not even talking about a tiring game!" She protested. "Com'on yaar guys let's not waste this beautiful night. We're here to enjoy, aren't we?"

"I'm out of this man" Keshu dismissively raised his hands.

"Guys at least we can hear it up na what she has to say?" Arpita intervened for her favourite Didi's rescue when we boys stood up against the plan.

"Okay let's listen up, " Keshu immediately took a flip of 360 degrees changing his mind in less than a minute.

I heaved giving up, "Fine. Go ahead Rani Sahiba."

She quickly told us about 'the dumbest game ever- dumb charades' these are my words because for Bhabhs it's an amazing game. As she explained the rules and divided us into two teams, we hadn't had much of a choice other than to play.

Keshu, Me and Arpita we're in one team and the husband-wife duo in the other.

Yeah, yeah, I know the number of team members isn't balanced but Soumya had full faith in her capability of recognising movies that she told us she alone is equal to two. In the end, we ended up giving in to her commands.

The first turn was Samar's. I chose to give him a difficult movie name so he would struggle to act. Hehe, how much I enjoy troubling him.

His eyes widened in disbelief, "Are you kidding me? That-"

"Yes, that's the name of the movie. Now get started so we can wrap this up quickly!" I interrupted before he could complain.

He was too tired to even argue so he gave in almost immediately. He stood facing all of us, pondering what to do next. Anxiousness was clear on his face. I knew he had no idea what to do. And his stiff countenance were making it hard for me to hold back myself from laughing.

Sorry Samar, but the look on your face is so funny that it's kind of boosting up my energy.

"Com'on love, you can do it!" Soumya cheered for him.

He smiled softly at her, "Okay.. I'll try." He seemed hesitant and also embarrassed. But even so, he began to enact as per the name of the movie. He signed his thumb down indicating it's an English movie, showed four fingers implying the total number of words in the title.

"I can't wait for it, " I mumbled slowly as I chuckled.

Arpita who sat between me and Keshu looked at me with a confused face. "What movie is it?" She whispered so only I could hear.

I giggled, "Just wait and watch."

She faked an angry pout but then turned her attention back to Samar. Even though it was night but thanks to the bonfire and fairy lights I could see the redness on his face, clear as daylight. He tried to explain the first half of the title using his fingers but still, Soumya couldn't guess it.

"What are you doing Samar? I can't get what you're trying to tell me!" she cried in frustration.

"Alright, guys, time's up!" I interrupted.

"No, wait!" she whined.

"No, Love. I give up. This is too embarrassing for me, " Samar surrendered.

Soumya seemed extremely disappointed, "Okay fine." She huffed a defeated sigh.

"But what was the title?" Arpita asked.

"Yeah, tell them Samar, " I grinned widely.

"What?! Why me? You tell them!" His face had turned redder than Mars.

"You lost this round so you tell them," I said as a matter of fact.

He shot me the deadliest glare he has ever had on his face that read, 'don't force me to murder you'.

In response, I smirked sending him a challenging look.

Knowing the kind of a softie he is when it comes to the people he loves, after all, I rank at the top of the list, there's no way he would refuse me.

In the end, my conviction won. Samar plopped down on the bean bag as he heaved exasperatedly, "Fifty Shades Of Grey."

Everyone looked at him with a deadpanned expression. Poor Samar was turning beet red and for his misfortune, the bonfire illuminated his face even brighter. My capability of holding back my laughter was dying slowly, but before anyone, the first person to break the awkward silence was, Soumya herself. Following her, we all cracked up laughing.

"Sanam, you are such a devil!" she exclaimed while giggling.

"Or maybe your husband is just a saint." I crackled.

"I knew you all would make fun of me. This game is so embarrassing," my brother complained. "But I didn't expect this from you, Saalisaheba?" He gave Arpita a hurting look.

"Sorry Jijs," she smiled sheepishly to not laugh anymore.

"Sweetheart, there's no need for you to feel so awkward about it. It was just a movie name. You got so embarrassed by simply the thought of enacting it that you even forgot that you're wearing a grey tee." Soumya reminded him of an important asset that he missed.

Samar's eyes shot wide in realization, "Damn! How can I be so stupid?" A giant wave of laughter erupts after that.

As the game proceeded ahead, my brother made a resolve to make me pay back for embarrassing him. After three rounds, Soumya and Samar caught up to us. Keshu had made it clear at the beginning that he would just do the guessing work as he believed he sucked at the enacting part. Truth be told, he even sucked at the guessing part, and no, Arpita and I tried our best but he still couldn't get a single one correct. Although, my brother and sister in law surely gave us a hard time by giving us kinda tricky movie titles.

The next turn was of our team, hence, it was my turn again. I stood up confidently, Arpita wished me good luck as I thanked her. On the other side, Soumya got up from her seat as she walked with a devilish smile which kinda creeped me out. Behind her, I saw Samar sending me the same mischievous grin.

Man, I have a bad feeling about this.

We stood face to face while I eyed her suspiciously before she spoke in her sugary-sweet voice that might cause one diabetes, "Ready to lose, Devar Ji?"

"Sorry Bhabhs, but I don't play for losing," I replied haughtily.

She snickered, "Is that so? We'll see how well you can pull off this one."

"Try me," I shrugged.

She whispered the title in my ear and the colour from my face drained instantly. I already had no hope in Keshu but now I doubted if Arpita could guess it correctly. Speaking frankly, I doubted if I could enact it properly.

Dammit! I got too cocky earlier!

"Kya hua? (What happened?) Chehre ki rangat udd gayi? (Your face looks pale?)" Bhabhs mocked me. "Show us what a pro you are at this, sweet-boy," she teased while patting my shoulder and then went back to her seat.

Sometimes this husband-wife duo really annoys me!

I glanced at Arpita, she seemed so enthusiastic as if she already knew we're gonna win this. I mean, this girl sure is one heck of a movie maniac, especially for Bollywood.

Well, she did tell me that she can read me by just the expressions on my face, right?

Now is your chance to prove that theory, Arpita. Please save me from the future embarrassment coz if you fail then I'm 200% doomed. Cause undoubtedly those two have got something up their sleeves.

"All right! Let's end this stupid game up after we win," I announced it dramatically, punching my fist in the air (pretty much anime style). Both of my teammates copied my actions screaming together in sync, "Let's do it!"

This is giving me some real chills now. Sorry, Samar but your plans for my defeat gotta rest in peace, Brother.
