《exchange student (cevans)》twenty five

Hey guys! Sorry for taking so long, life's been pretty hectic since finals are coming up but I hope you enjoy this! Tbh it'll probably take a while longer for me to update again but I'll keep working on it, slowly but non stop.

~~~~~~
–We're going to have so much fun! –said Grace putting my last box beside my bed.
–I know! I have the feeling I'll be taking care of you, though... –I chuckled.
Grace and I ended up being granted permission to be roommates since her former roommate graduated. Kim was really excited to be left alone since apparently my mere existence was loud. Grace and Josh helped me pack and unpack my things in Grace's room, which was way bigger than the one I shared with Kim and had a better view.
When we finished unpacking, I went to Lisa's to work at Mr. Evans' old office, it had been a while since Lisa and I spent time together so I figured it would be nice to eat together and spend a little time there doing homework. I grabbed my car keys as well as the copy of house keys that Lisa had gave me and left the room, not without promising them to come back on time to go to our favorite diner together.
Chris had left about a week ago since he had to keep doing the press tour for the Avengers Endgame movie so I tried to focused on my degree since I kinda been a little too wrapped around my boyfriend and music. Everyday I received a decent amount of money from the "We don't talk anymore"'s royalties since it was one of the lead singles in Charlie's album.
I still haven't decided whether to accept David's offer or not, what I already had clear was that I wanted to give acting and singing a shot, of course without leaving psychology aside.
I got out of the car and walked the few steps up to Lisa's entrance, opening the door with my set of keys.
I walked in and saw Lisa cooking something while talking to someone on the phone. She turned around when she heard me close the door.
–Hey... –I whispered.
–Hey sweetie, look who I'm talking to. –she signaled me to approach her and I hesitantly did.
–Oh... hola mom.
–Hola, amor...
–How have you been?
–You haven't talked to your mother? –Lisa scolded me and I just lightly shook my head.– And you haven't reached out to your daughter? –she asked now looking at her phone.– You both can't keep acting like this, you're family! I can't believe I'm actually talking about this to you guys, the latino sense of family is so united and sacred. We don't have time or life assured so you need to leave your differences aside and enjoy each other's presence in your life!
After Lisa's speech my mom and I were kinda forced to apologize to each other but I knew our words were genuine. It might still take a couple of time to go back to how our relationship was but at least we already took the first step towards it.
Lisa finished cooking and talking to my mom and we sat down together to eat. She was really happy that I decided to come here to spend time with her and do my homework at Mr. Evans former office instead of going to the library or just doing it on my dorm room, speaking of which, would probably never be a chill environment to work at since Grace will probably be bothering me all the time.
–So how are you, sweetie? I haven't spoken to you properly since the song presentation.
–A little busy, to be honest. Trying to focus back on my degree and the music and acting courses I enrolled in, Chris distracts me a little bit. –I chuckled.
–Oh that boy, let me know if you want me to tell him to let you work. If you don't mind me asking, how are you guys doing, by the way?
–Don't worry. –I chuckled.– We're doing fine! You really raised a gentleman, Lisa.
–I'm glad, thank you honey. –she smiled widely.– I guess I can finally show you these.
She got up and started looking for something on the living room. I offered to help her look for whatever she was searching for but she didn't let me so I just kept eating the delicious food she made.
After a few minutes she came back with a photo album and sat down next to me. She started flipping through the pages and explaining the backstory to everyone of them. There were a bunch of pictures mainly of baby Chris and my heart melted seeing how cute he was. Lisa and I bursted into laughter seeing his mushroom haircut, she she always regret letting him get that done.
I texted Chris a few of his pictures to let him know Lisa was showing them to me and to tease him a little bit about his haircut. He was slightly embarrassed, nevertheless he still laughed about his haircut and about how skinny he used to be. I promised to send him a couple of my baby pictures so that we could laugh at my silly photos.
–Here he was with his father, he must've been about one or two years old. –she smiled, putting the picture back in the photo album and turning the page.– You haven't met Robert, have you?
–Robert?
–Yeah, my ex husband.
–Oh no, no... I haven't met Mr. Evans yet.
–I'm sure Chris will introduce you soon, he'll love you, just like all of us do. –I mumbled a quick "thanks" and we both smiled at each other.
She got up and began cleaning up the dishes. I kept looking at the photos while she told me how good Mr. Evans was to her kids. I flipped a page and saw a picture of a young Chris with Tara. My stomach hurt a little and I rearranged myself on the chair, I still haven't asked Chris if he has talked to Tara ever since the incident a few weeks ago.
I still didn't like that woman but seeing this picture of the two of them together when they were little made me realize how close they probably are since they know each other since infancy. I took the picture out and stared at it for a while. I didn't want Chris to quit hanging out with his friend for me...
–Oh, that's Tara, Chris' best friend. –she passed by my side, putting some dishes in the cupboards.– Have you met her? She's so lovely, they've been best friends since forever.
–Yeah... –I whispered.– Chris didn't tell you?
–No, did something happen?
–Uh, no... Well kinda but I don't think it's my place to talk about it.
It seemed obvious that Lisa loved and appreciated Tara so I didn't want to tell her about what happened in Chris' house. But as much as I didn't want to, she made me. So I told her exactly what happened, avoiding making any remark, comment or criticism.
She was shocked to say the least, she couldn't believe that Tara would say something like that. She said that Tara never really liked Chris' girlfriends and that they used to believe she liked Chris but apparently she didn't since she's now married and now it's clear she only thinks of him as a brother. That made me be a little more at ease since I also thought she might like my boyfriend the same way I did.
After a few minutes discussing this, Lisa went upstairs and I started working on a few projects in Mr. Evans former office or studio. Lisa was on the living room, watching TV and knitting a sweater for Stella's birthday, which was happening on a few weeks.
I was more calmed down after the conversation we had and after she made my mom and I talk again. My little spring break trip was a couple of weeks around the corner and I was afraid it would be a bit uncomfortable and icy between us. I decided I would try my best to give François and his family a chance to get to know them and know me.
I was uploading my work on the college platform when my phone began ringing. It was a FaceTime call from Chris. I turned my laptop off and answered him. I instantly and unconsciously smiled when I saw him.
–Hi boyfriend.
–Hi girlfriend. Are you at mom's place?
–Yup.
–Nice! I miss you.
–Me too. Where did you say you are now? L.A.?
–That's right, doll. I should bring you here.
–Hello, doll. –I heard Sebastian making fun of Chris and then he appeared on screen alongside Mackie.
–Heyyy, doll face. –said Mackie slurring his words, laughing.
–Hi, González. –said Hemsworth.
–Hey, Chris! And I guess, hi to you two as well, Seb and Mackie. –I rolled my eyes playfully.
–Hi girlfriend! –said Lizzie.
–Hi, Lizzie!
–Guys, will you let me talk to my girlfriend? –asked Chris.
–Yeah, I actually need to talk to you... –I said in a low voice.
–Ohhh... trouble in paradise? –asked Mackie.
–Eh... we better go, guys. See you in the lobby, Chris. –Lizzie said pushing everyone out of the room they were in.
–Are you... breaking up with me?
–What? No, no... not at all, I just feel... –I sighed.
–Y/n, sweetie, Grace and Josh are waiting for you. –Lisa peeked from the door.
–Oh, yeah, thanks Lisa! I gotta go, Chris, can we talk later?
–Wait, wait, what do you feel? Are you okay?
–We'll talk later, Chris. Love you. –I hung up, packed my stuff, grabbed it and got out of Mr. Evans' office.– I'm gonna go, Lisa. Thank you for everything! –I said hugging her, she didn't hesitate a second to hug me back.
I heard Josh's car honking so I hurried up to get out. I went up to the passenger's window and told them they were crazy and impatient. I got inside my car and started following them to our favorite diner.
I couldn't stop thinking about what Y/n had to say, my anxiety was starting to creep out and Scarlett was the first one to approach me when I got to the hotel room where our interviews were taking place. She rubbed her hands up and down my arms with a worried look on her face.
–Are you okay? They said she... –I knew she wasn't mentioning Y/n's name because there were people and interviewers present a few feet away from us.– had to talk to you... was it bad?
–I don't know, my mom interrupted her since her friends were waiting for her.
My breathing was getting faster by the minute and I felt my heart rate increase, my neck and face began getting hot and suddenly I felt dizzy. I knew I was having a panic attack, it had been a while since I last had one.
–Chris... breathe... –said Scarlett.
–Are you guys ready? –asked Scarlett's agent.
–Give us a second, Joe.
–They're waiting for you guys...
–Please! –she screamed.
–Go, I'll be there in a minute.
–Chris... –I heard her say from afar. I walked all the way to the elevators, got in and sat on the floor after pressing my floor's number.
I felt like I was running out of air.
–Hey Scar, how are you? –I asked picking up my phone when I saw her name pop up on the screen.
–Y/n... it's Chris. –My heart dropped. I got up and started walking to the diner's exit.
–What happened? Is he okay?
–It's his anxiety, he started having a panic attack. He left, I...
–I'll call you later. Thanks.
I quickly hung up on her and started dialing his number. I bit my lip and a lot of horrible scenarios began popping up in my head. The phone rang for about five times until he finally picked up, I let out a sigh, slightly relieved.
–Mi amor... –I said.
–Y/n... I can't... I...
–Shh... Where are you?
–Hotel room.
–Tell me five things you can see. –the other side of the line was dead silent so I got panicked and shouted at him.– Christopher!
–Bed... window... TV... suitcase... chair. –he said in between long pauses.
–Sorry, baby... now tell me four things you can hear.
–There's a...
–Yes?
–Bird outside, whistling... and a car honking, I hear you...
–Yes, yes... I'm here. Now find three things you can feel.
–A pillow, the rug and... my clothes?
–Yes! What are two things you can smell?
–There's a bag of coffee I opened earlier. And the room still smells like my cologne.
–Lastly, what can you taste?
–There's a tiny piece of chocolate that the maid left when she cleaned my room. –he breathed heavily.– I...
–Shh... focus on your breathing. Chris, I'm such an asshole, I shouldn't have left you that way, I promise I don't have anything bad to tell you... I'm sorry, amor.
–It's okay, princess. I have just been dealing with a lot with work and I was worried I had done something wrong with you.
–No, no, you haven't... Can't you take a break from the press tour? It's almost finished, why don't you end it soon? –I asked looking down at my feet. Grace came out of the diner and asked if I was okay, I nodded in response and she went back inside. Chris was still silent.– I know it's not ideal or what you want but you deserve some rest.
–I'll talk to Kevin and the Russo's. –he sighed.
–Yeah, babe...
–Can you tell me now what you wanted to say to me?
–Well... I talked to you mom and... uh...
–Yes?
–Have you spoken to Tara since... the incident?
–No... she's been calling but I can't talk to her right now, not after everything she said to you.
–You should talk to her. Uh... when your mom was showing me your pictures I came across some photos of you two together. You guys really go way back... you shouldn't stop talking to her and hanging with her just because of me.
–Y/n, she... –I cut him off.
–I know, I know and I love you for putting me first but as much as it costs me I'm trying to be the bigger person and life's too short to hold grudges. I'm pretty sure she's trying to apologize to you so if she calls again... pick up.
–I love you.
–I love you more. That's all I wanted to tell you.
–Thank you for calling me and helping me calm down, you're a great psychologist. –I chuckled and mumbled a "thanks".
–Come with me to France.
