《Chasing the nerd ✓》Chapter 52| Noah

Here he is.
The big man himself.
He shows up from the living room and it's the first time I lay my eyes on him. Sure, I've seen pictures before, but the real thing is a bit different.
He is wearing a blue suit with a white shirt that's open in the collar. He seems tired and he is unshaven, grey beard growing on his face.
He is taller than I expected and for a man his age, he has a good shape. The one thing that stands out though are his grey eyes. The same eyes he passed on to his children.
I couldn't see anything else because Rachel literally jumped on him and started sobbing on his chest the moment she hugged him. He welled up too listening to his daughter crying while he stroked her hair lightly placing a soft kiss on her head.
"It's ok, pumpkin. I'm ok. Please don't cry." His voice startled me. It's deep and mellow at the same time.
"I've always told you he is a son of a bitch." I'm surprised as I didn't expect anyone else to be here. Well, maybe Tina. But that wasn't Tina's voice.
Rachel raises her head drying her eyes with the back of her hand and looks to see who's talking. And when she does, she turns red.
"What is she doing here?" She yells and she sound furious. That's when I see her too. There's something vaguely familiar about her. Rachel doesn't look like her at all but Dan is her spitting image, I realise as I'm seeing all four of them together for the first time. Man! That is one good looking family!
"It's ok pumpkin."
"No, it's not. I don't want her here!" She spats furious.
"That's what I wanted to say when you came in." Danny jumps into the conversation. "She bailed Dad out."
"Oh! She's the 2% I'm missing!"
I didn't realize that I said out loud until all four of them look at me with different expressions on their faces.
"What are you saying?" Rachel asks until recognition lights her eyes. "You gave her 2% of the company? She left you for someone else!" She turns to her father furious and he places his hands in his pockets looking uncomfortable.

"She still is the mother of my children. I couldn't leave her with nothing. She is your mother, pumpkin." He says calmly looking at Rachel. "Is this the one you've been talking about?" He nods to my direction.
"Yes." Both Rachel and Dan say at the same time and I drop my head. What a mess! Mr. Brody looks confused and Mrs. Brody just stands there with a plain expression on her face.
I clear my throat awkwardly and move forward.
"Noah Cooper. It's nice to finally meet you in person Mr. Brody." I extend my hand to him and he shakes it firmly. "I don't want to interrupt but your freedom hangs in the balance. We have to inform the FBI for what we have found so they can drop the charges against you. And seeing how Novac did everything I don't think we can waste any more time. I'm guessing he has an escape plan in case something goes wrong."
He looks at me deep in thought.
"How did you find out?" He asks me and I fidget in my spot.
"It's a long story sir. How about we deal with the FBI first and when we have that behind us I'll tell you all about it?" It's my main concern right now. Anything else can wait. He stretches his hand to me again.
"Thank you, son. For everything." He says and he stares at me. By the way he is looking at me I don't think he means just the FBI stuff. And Rachel got that too as she slowly creeps under my arms hugging me. I'm at a loss and so damn uncomfortable I just settle for a nod.
Things with the FBI didn't go quite as we planned. Apparently it takes time and a hell of a lot of bureaucracy to get things down. We gave them the flash drive with all the proof they needed, but they wanted to check the authenticity which takes time, we had to wait for a specialist to take charge of the files and then they had to form a team to go into the offices and confiscate everything from Novac's office.

We told them a million times that the computer is trapped and will send an alert to Novac giving him time to escape but at first they didn't care too much. I was boiling from the inside thought. After a heated moment with one of the agents they finally realized that I was dead serious so they decided to send someone for Novac too, just to get me off their backs.
Long story short, everything you see on Tv shows and movies is a complete lie. They take their sweet time even though our asses are on fire.
"Probably not the right time to say this, but you were so hot back there." Rachel whispers to me.
"It's the worst time ever!" I whisper back at her with googling eyes. I mean her parents are two seats away from us
"Yeah, I know. I said 'not the right time'. But I felt the need to share it with you. When you are bossy and firm you get my motor running instantly." She bits lightly her bottom lip and I squirm in my seat. I'm about to answer but Dan comes into my view holding coffees in his hands.
"I can't believe you two went behind my back and didn't say anything."
Rachel rolls her eyes at her brother looking annoyed he interrupted us but I'm thankful. If she kept the conversation going my hard-on would make things really uncomfortable for me.
"We couldn't risk creating a scene. The guy is an evil genius. He was prepared for anything." I explain calmly. He frowns his brows.
"Like how prepared?"
"Well, he had a micro camera hidden in his office and as I've already said he had trapped his computer."
"So how did you do it without getting noticed?"
"Hmm… I had help. Rachel was with him while me and Connor snuck into his office. We had to shut the cameras off though, just so you know."
"Who's Connor?" He asks confused.
"A buddy of mine. He is kind of a hacking expert."
"Is he looking for work? I'm sure we could use him."
I laugh out loud thinking how Connor would have reacted to this. Just the thought of him going corporate is hilarious.
"No, I don't think so. He is doing just fine with the shop."
"What kind of shop?"
"He has the garage close to campus. You know that, you have been there before." Rachel says to him and his jaw opens.
"The bald guy? That Connor? Really?"
"Yeah, he doesn't seem like it, believe me I know, but he is a genius." Rachel says and I nod.
"You broke a lot of rules though." He says after a minute.
"No, we bent the rules but it was means to an end. How long you think we are going to stay here?" I shrug my shoulders. I don't know what to tell her.
"Mr. Brody?" I hear an agent saying as he approaches us.
"Yes." He answers and stands up. You could feel his heart beats in that three lettered word.
"You are free to go sir. All charges are dropped against you as we now have in custody the person at fault."
"You attested him?" I hear myself say but I didn't mean to. It keeps happening to me. I voice my thoughts when I should just stay quiet. The agent turns his attention to me.
"Yes we did. We had more than enough proof to charge him plus,as you repeatedly warned, he tried to flee the country." I was right! I feel so smug as I keep looking at him until he turns his attention away from me. "We are really sorry sir. We are preparing a statement to set the record straight. You may go." He says to mr. Brody and leaves.
"We did it, baby." I whisper to Rachel smiling and she hooks her arm with mine and looks so grateful as we lock eyes.
"You did it. Thank you!" She whispers back and rests her head on my shoulder.
"I love you." I whisper back, placing a little kiss on her hair.
"I love you." She says back and tightens her grip.
It's over. Finally.

What would happen to a guy that died out of rage while in a Guild War? What would the choice of some bored dimensional being who catches his soul in the middle of his way to the afterlife? What would happen when the guy's addiction mixes with the Wizarding World of Harry Potter!? What chaos would that bring to the world!?------------------------------------Well, this was an idea I had like a week ago, and wanted to try it out on my journey to learn how to write. So, here it is. It's another fanfic, yes. Because it's easier to write. Also, with this one, I'll probably post only during the weekends, not daily like with the Novel's Extra's Extra. Firstly because I want to finish the other one, and also because I need to research a lot more (I'm not that knowledgeable in Harry Potter.) As usual, any feedback and criticism will be well received, and thanks for reading! Will be posting this in Scribble Hub and Webnovel too.
