《Chasing the nerd ✓》Chapter 11|Rachel

For some reason I keep staring at this weird man beside me.
I know I should pay attention to the professor but my eyes involuntarily keep turn to his direction.
He looks tired, his green eyes are red, he looks a bit pale and he is slouching in his seat. Obvious signs of his late night drinking. One glance at him and I could tell, as he remarked sarcastically I've mastered the art.
Every now and then he pushes his glasses up, mostly by habit, and he keeps making notes in his pad. I slowly remove my eyes from his face and travel down his body to take in his appearance. He is wearing a black t-shirt again with some weird beast on it, light blue jeans and a pair of black converse.
What is it about this guy and his love of black geeky t-shirts?
I sensed him turn and look at me with wonder written all over his face. I smiled sweetly and batted my eyelashes innocently.
"What are you doin'?" he whispered.
"Who is that guy?" I nodded to his shirt. He looked for a moment down his torso and then turned to me with a dumbfounded expression on his face.
"That's Thanos." He whispered again.
"Right." I whispered back nodding. "And who is he?"
He bowed his head slightly shaking it with what I can only assume is disapproval.
"Have you been living under a rock? That's the bad guy from the Avengers." He said looking at me like I was crazy.
"Ah, the Avengers. Not my kind of movie."
"Have you seen it?" he asked and his eyes lighted up for a second.
"No." I said and he frowned.
"Then how do you know it's not a kind you'll like?"
"I haven't thought about it that way. Maybe you should take me to see it." I said and a cheeky smile formed in my face. He chuckled under his breath and looked at me.
"Did you just asked yourself on a date?" he said smiling. I could tell he really enjoyed it as his eyes were wrinkled on the corners from the way he smiled. I mentally high fived myself. Good, we surpassed the snarky comments.
"Thought I save you the trouble." I nudged him and smiled. He momentarily looked the spot I touched him and seemed confused for a second.

"Who says I would have asked you?" he asked me with a stern expression.
"Oh, please." I scoffed lightly and tugged some stray hair away from my face.
"Your ego must be the size of this auditorium."
"Oh, thank you."
When I looked at him he seemed at a loss. Oh, I loved it that I could make him feels this way. I can tell he is working hard to make me snap at him and the truth is I find him delightful. I take no offense in the things he says to me. Which might indicate some brain failure but that's tomorrow's problem.
"You do understand that I didn't mean it as a compliment, right?" he said searching my face for signs of comprehension.
"It doesn't matter how you meant it, it matters how I'm taking it and I choose to believe it was a concealed compliment. You might wanna work on that though. Not the best way to flirt."
He coughed out loud like he was choking and a few people around shushed him. He stayed quiet for a moment and when people stopped sending him death glares he whispered:
"Flirt? Where did you get that from? I'm not trying to flirt with you. If anything I'm trying to avoid you but you keep coming at me."
"See, now who's the one that doesn't understand?" I said crooking my head to his direction.
"You!" he said a bit frustrated.
"You know for a smart guy you seem to be lacking some social skills. But don't worry. I'm here for you." I say and pat sympathetically his back. My fingers linger for a couple of seconds but I can't help it. All I'm thinking is I wanna explore his toned back and bulging arms bit by bit memorizing every single curve on him. This time he doesn't react right away allowing my touch, not for too long though. He cleared his throat awkwardly and dragged himself as away from me as his seat allowed. I frowned and felt my hand turning into stone without his warmth underneath it. Ugh, I'm getting frustrated.
"You have a wild imagination, I'll give you that. And that's the only thing you'll get from me. If I were you I'll take it and run."
"For your information when you say things like that, you intrigue me even more. You make wanna know what made you so grumpy and mad at the whole world. Or is your anger originating by me?"

He paused and looked at me intensively. He took his time scanning my face and when his eyes met mine my heart literally skipped a bit. It felt like I was burning from the inside. I mean those eyes! So green like emeralds, so clear like there's something hiding behind them and so pure. It's refreshing. And I'm so screwed!
"Well, you keep annoying me so partly yeah. I'm not mad at the whole world."
"Ok, I'll make you a deal. You go out with once and if you still find me that annoying afterwards I'll leave alone." I can see that his is thinking about. Come on Noah, just say yes already.
"How are you so sure that it'll go well?"
"First of all I'm adorable and I'm surprised you haven't noticed yet. And secondly I know you'll like me once you get to know me." I say smiling only to face him frowning again, his lips pressed in a hard line. Oh, If only I could be in his head right now to see what he is thinking.
"That right there is the main problem with you. You're so over-the-top-don't-give-a-crap-about-others arrogant. That's a deal breaker." He says looking all serious at me.
My inner goddess was whimpering like a hounded little animal and I should have given up right there and then but despite all the alarms going off in my head I kept going.
"One date. That's all I'm asking." I kept pushing. He sighed out loud.
"Why do you insist so damn hard?" he said frustrated.
"I like you! I want to get to know you better, sue me!" I said throwing my hands in the air.
"You like me?" he said blinking too many time. When I usually say to a guy I like him I'm not met with shock. Why is everything have to be so damn complicated with him?
"I thought it was obvious. Why on earth would I chase around if it wasn't that?"
"I don't know. You seem psychotic it could be because of a mental illness." He said rubbing his chin and I laughed. I love that he doesn't hold back. He is so amusing! If he wasn't so strong headed he would be just perfect.
This time he was smiling too. Cute dimples made their appearance in his face and I felt like melting.
Ugh, what are you doin' to me Noah?
"I'm not crazy, I can assure you but you can have me checked if it would make feel any better. I just like you! So how about it now?"
We were so lost in our conversation that we didn't even realize that the class was already dismissed and people were leaving the auditorium.
He was looking at me again and I could see his shields drop one bit at a time. I've never worked that hard to get a guy, ever! I hope to God his is worth it!
He broke our eye contact and took a look around the room. He cleared his throat again and started picking up his notebooks.
"I'm kind of busy, so no, but it's a relief you're not crazy. The kind that need hospitalization I mean." He turned his back and tried to leave again. Oh, I hate it when he does that. I grabbed his arm and stop him. It feels like I've been doing this for quite some time now.
"Oh, come on now. Do I have to beg?"
"Ugh, you are impossible! I'll think about it. Can I go now? Or you're gonna nag me the whole way to my dorm?"
"Is that an invitation to your room?" I say wiggling my eyebrows playfully. He crooks his head while looking at me. Suddenly he comes closer and pulls me to him.
Oh, wow! Chills, literal chills! My body is turned into mush and I'm breathing hard. He lowers his head a bit and I'm thinking how good he smells. A mixture of wood and spices, so addictive.
His lips almost touch my ear, his hot breath on my skin making me all tingly.
"You would like that, wouldn't you?" he says and his voice is hoarse and so damn sexy. I lick my lips and shallow hard. As I don't think I'm capable of speaking I settle for a nod.
"Well, too bad that's not going to happen." He says and takes a couple of steps back leaving me there feeling like someone just threw at me a bucket of ice.
"I'll see you around." He chuckles with my reaction and gets out the door.
What a tease!!

NOVA INTERIT.US
It's 2063, and the town along with much of the nation are in disarray. The decay started years before the Great Event. Our town still had hope thanks to the five families, who'd created a blockchain based water distribution system for the locals, a valuable secret hidden from the Global Water Commission and their network of mercenaries. Earlier in the mid-2040's, right after the state secessions of Idaho, Montana, and Texas, the Global Council of Water Commissioners made their deals and moved into towns throughout the country. They called it "the integration." The Commission and their contractors integrated with municipal water departments, using their organized network to invade like parasites on local services. It all coincided with the 29th Amendment to the United States Constitution, later referred to as the Regional Trident Plan. Nova is a story about survival, power structures, the turning of relationships, and the networking between people and the systems to which they belong. It’s about A.I. blockchain possibility, and its potential for human betterment versus our detriment. It’s about the question of whether or not we need to be saved from ourselves, and by who or what? The Great Event at the end of the first chapter might just be what actually saves us. The epilogue will take place in 2517. This scene is fully sketched and the full arc of the novel is set. I expect to finish Nova Interitus by summer of 2023. This is realist hard-sci-fi dystopian fiction. I hope you find Nova to be a challenging and consuming story. This is not something I planned to write. It all came to me in a dream and I haven't been able to stop writing it. This Royal Road posting is basically a beta test with chapters and drafts to get some feedback and see if there's any readership for this narrative. For the full experience read Nova on Substack. I will be narrating a podcast version later this year there. https://novainteritus.substack.com/

Falling For A Man Of The City
He stood up momentarily discarding his shirt, eliciting a small moan from me at the sight of his physique. His body would always take my breath away at the black ink and scars littered holding a story of their own. When my eyes moved down past his pectoral muscles to his pants I felt my breath hitch in my throat at the view of his manhood straining against the fabric. If I didn't feel shy with the way he was admiring me, I certainly felt shy when he reached out to remove my underwear. It was the first time I had ever allowed anyone to see a part of my body that I had been taught to guard fiercely so it was only natural that I look away feeling self-conscious. Considering I wasn't making any effort to hide it, he chuckled lightly making me blush when he went further to spread my thighs gently unveiling the secret that I had been yearning for him to see. "You have such a pretty pussy," were the words that came out as more of a growl. Turning to look at him, I found his eyes already watching me causing my chest to constrict in sweet agony, "I'm going to enjoy eating you, my little gazelle," he cooed gently falling to his knees in a prayer like motion. Only this form of prayer was far beyond holy but aimed to please and was sacred in its own way... ***When Aaliyah Winston waltzed into the city of New York in search of a new life, unexpectedly she is thrust into a world.
