《Little chef》17-It also depends on your ability

This sentence angered both Aunt Su and Grandmother Su at once.
However, Grandma Su's gaze immediately shifted when she heard the noise from the workers. She said in disbelief: "What are you doing? Are you renovating the restaurant? "
Su Tang nodded: "There was a big hole in the roof before, but now I have some money so I can renovate it. This was also my father's wish during his lifetime, so I can't go against it."
Hearing the first half of the sentence, Grandmother Su just wanted to say that she squandered money and did not know how to manage accounts. However, Su Tang brought her deceased father's wishes into this with the second part.
The dead are the greatest and most honored. Could this be refuted?
Grandma Su only felt like she was suffocating. Why did this granddaughter have a rebuttal every time she wanted to say anything?
"That's okay. Now that you have started to repair it, you should continue it until it's finished. It just happens that I am also free. I will help you watch them work, so you won't get cheated because you're still young." Grandma Su said, sitting next to Su Tang with a loving look.
Goosebumps were about to rise on Su Tang's arm when she heard those fake sweet words.
Su Tang looked at the workers in the house and explained: "They are all neighbors around here, so they won't lie to me."
Aunt Zhou knew the market price even if she herself didn't know it.
They could talk to the surrounding neighbors to make sure, and if they actually gave her a higher price, then she could report to the government office.
Even after that explanation, this grandmother decided to stay. She cleaned up a guest room for herself and acted like she was the owner.
She pointed to the carpenter and the mason who was working.
Grandma Su's eyes almost popped out after hearing how much money Su Tang had spent: "How can you spend so much? Why do these things need to be so expensive?"
Her grandson's hand she was gripping was all red.
Seeing that this old woman was about to wrong them again, the carpenter said: "It's not expensive, since we are rushing to finish the work. The usual time would need 15 or 16 days, but we will complete this in four or five days. The money is not too much for expediting the process."
The carpenter also said the same thing. If the price would be lower if the time was not that tight.
Su Tang said that money is not an issue and the sooner they finish, the better.
Tomorrow, selling breakfast could only be done outside the door. It was better to finish the job early since this can be too inconvenient.
The main thing was that Su Tang wanted to let Grandmother Su see that she spent money like drinking water. Then she could proclaim that she had no money on hand.
So Su Tang was not only renovating the front of the small restaurant, but they were also renovating the kitchen. They also covered the yard with waterproof wooden boards to make it look neat and bright.
There was a rocking chair and a small table under the tree. This would be a good place for drinking tea and dozing off.
All the money she had earned before was not enough to invest in it after completing everything.
Grandma Su painfully watched as Su Tang gave out the money in the wooden buckets one by one.

It felt like Su Tang squandered her money! So uncomfortable!
Grandma Su quickly tried to hold down the purse when she saw that Su Tang was about to give more money to buy materials: "Don't give it! How can you be such a spendthrift!"
She retracted her hand and said, "It naturally costs money to renovate the restaurant. Only by spending money can you make more money."
Only by spending money could you make more money? What kind of bullshit was this?
However, it sounded likely hearing it out of this granddaughter's mouth again.
Those who come to work here were all collecting Su Tang money, so naturally, they don't take Grandma Su's words to heart.
They saw Grandma Su trying to meddle, and the surrounding people simply ignored her.
Grandma Su saw Su Tang nibbling melon seeds, and flipping through books outside the door. Aunt Zhou had already gone home to rest for the day.
She was even angrier this time.
How could there be such a person be so disrespectful to their elders?
Su Tang noticed her gaze and raised her eyes and said, "Grandma, sit down and rest. It's spring, and it's not hot to sit outside. In fact, it is very comfortable."
The weather in ancient times was much cooler than in modern times, especially now since it is spring. It was really comfortable to sit outside and drink tea.
It felt like something was wrong when she tried to interpret Su Tang's words.
To put it bluntly, it sounded like she was telling grandma to rest and don't make trouble.
Su Tang gave the remaining meat pies to Grandma Su's little grandson and began to work in the shop.
The noisy renovation all afternoon directly disrupted the plans of Aunt Su and Grandma Su.
The two of them originally wanted to pressure Su Tang with their elder status, so that she could only listen to them.
Even if she doesn't listen to her second aunt, she still has to listen to what her grandmother had to say.
How much money could the small restaurant make since business looks so good?
Just thinking about it makes them happy.
But now what? What else could they say since there was no place to stay in the house?
These renovations would take four or five days. Would they need to sit and watch Su Tang spend money for the rest of the time?
Su Tang would keep renovating the house until it was finished, no matter what her grandmother thought.
When Su Jin Hang came back, his first reaction to seeing her grandmother was to hide behind his sister.
It seems that this grandmother was not good to this grandson, otherwise, he would not be like this.
Su Jin Hang greeted Grandma Su and looked at their home to say, "Sister, aren't we going to sell breakfast tomorrow?"
"Of course, we have to keep selling! The workers who are renovating the house will not be here while we sell breakfast. They will come around the same time when we have already closed the shop."
Uncle Song and his son came to deliver rice and flour while they were talking.
The rice and flours sent this time could fill half of the storage room.
Originally, they were supposed to settle the bill once a month, but Su Tang paid in full this time.
She gave the money out in front of Grandma Su.
Su Tang has spent money, but it's not like just spending money anymore! It was terrible!
This was not the end yet. When it was three or four o'clock in the morning, Aunt Zhou would come to work, and those butcher shops would also come to deliver meat.

These sounds woke Grandma Su in the guest room, and she woke up to another scene of Su Tang giving money to people.
Originally, when she gave the money during the day yesterday Grandma Su already felt pain, and when she has treated to such a scene first thing in the morning she could not stand it anymore: "How much money did you spend?! What kind of meat is so expensive to sell? We don't have such expensive pork or chicken in our hometown. "
The butcher saw an old woman rushing over from the backyard of the Su house while he was leaving. He was happily on his way back when he was greeted by this scene.
The butcher's eyes flickered, and the smell of blood on his body scared Grandma Su to stop immediately, so she turned to scold Su Tang instead: "Look at the good things you have done. Since I came here, you have been renovating the house and bought rice, flour, and meat. Is this what it looks like to run a family? "
She had never seen so much money spent in her life so quickly!
Su Tang frowned: "I am not a housekeeper, but a merchant. How could I make any money if I don't buy rice, flour, and meat?"
She asks people to come and deliver meat every day. This was to ensure the freshness of the ingredients.
In cooking, the quality of the ingredients must be good so that the food can last a long time while also tasting delicious.
The butcher also said: "If you say that others don't know how to run a family, then you should know business has been booming since Miss Su ran the restaurant. It is actually many times better than the store next door."
Who doesn't know that Su Tang was good at creating delicious dishes but also good at a business in the western part of the capital?
What was this woman talking about?
Su Tang had no choice but to explain: "This is my grandmother. She just came here and is a little unfamiliar with the market price. "
Hearing this, the butcher suddenly realized: "No wonder she said that the meat I sell is expensive. You can check with others around the city and find what I sell is definitely not expensive. Your family needs a lot of meat and the price is according to the amount of meat, so it's not expensive at all."
The butcher looked at the old woman and thought that she was confused, and she didn't seem to be very kind to her granddaughter.
He couldn't comment much on the situation, so he just took the money and left.
Grandma Su couldn't keep her mouth closed when she heard these words. She felt very uncomfortable. This girl bought a lot of meat?
That was not even for her? She had another simple meal last night. This granddaughter was really unfilial.
Su Tang didn't care about her at all. She naturally had to go to cook and eat with Aunt Zhou since they delivered the meat.
The two of them have to be busy until after five o'clock in the morning and they can't rest for a moment during this period. Otherwise, the breakfast shop would have to open its doors late.
The two of them had a tacit understanding of each other's movements, so they were able to beat back Grandma Su's attempts at intervention.
"You are the elder, so it is best for you to reset. The two of us will do just fine." Su Tang simply won't let her touch anything at all.
Hearing this, grandmother Su had to drink cold water beside her.
As she drank, she smelled the fragrance of the first batch of steamed bun that just came out from the steamer.
Aunt Zhou, Zhou Cong, and Su Jin Hang were already used to the smell.
They could eat it every day, let alone just smell it.
However, Grandma Su and her little grandson she was carrying never smelled such fragrance. The little grandson had already woken up by rubbing his eyes, and his saliva was about to fall off.
Oh my god, it smells so good.
It smells better than the steamed meat buns they had for New Year!
Su Tang had to allow Grandma Su and her young grandson to join breakfast. He should actually be Su Tang's cousin.
The little cousin sat on the table and grabbed the soup dumpling directly, but his mouth was scalded as soon as he took a bite.
Even grandmother Su was no exception.
Their mouth was blistering and was scalded, but it smelled so good that they both could care less about the pain and gobbled up the soup dumplings.
Watching their speed, Zhou Cong and Su Jin Hang were dumbfounded.
Was it just like when they first ate steamed buns? That was too shameful!
Su Tang was too lazy to take care of them. After breakfast, Aunt Zhou and she carried out the steamed buns and porridge. There was no place inside the house because of the ongoing renovations.
Zhou Cong and Su Jin Hang went straight to the study to read books. They would set off for school later.
Only Grandma Su and the little cousin were still eating.
Fortunately, they sell food here. This means they could always eat such delicious meals while they were here.
People started appearing on the street outside one after another.
The people who showed up were all here to buy breakfast!
People who have eaten must have lined up very early, and people who have not eaten are curious about how delicious it is.
They sold all the dishes out in less than an hour!
Many people who have not bought breakfast couldn't help but sigh with people around them.
Do the people in the capital like eating so much? Or were you all just joining in for the fun?
In fact, more people in the western part of the capital came to join in on the fun now. The capital was so big that there were many people who didn't know about Su Tang's breakfast shop.
When they all find out, there would be more people in line here!
Grandma Su sat there staring at the wooden barrel with a round belly. No wonder she uses the wooden barrel to store money in!
There was a lot of money inside!
Don't you know how to honor your elders if you make so much money?
She must get the ownership of the small restaurant!
The money was enough to buy a lot of fields for her little grandson, and Su Tang and her uncle's eldest son are at a marriageable age. If the money was used to help the relatives, then they will definitely be able to arrange a good marriage!
Su Tang and Aunt Zhou held the wooden barrel with the money and continued to count the money. They pretended not to see the greedy expression on Grandma Su's face.
Want her money? That depends on your ability!
In your dreams!

The Beta Test
Our nameless narrator participates in a beta test for an early VRMMO game Meridian 60. That's not the real name but it captures the spirit of the adventure given the chronological and contextual era of the game. His character is unique and special but purely for mundane reasons and not because of any inherent or social significance. The first chapter which is mandatory to submit a story on RR serves as a bit of a prologue with some exposition, although I limited that to a reasonble level. I plan to begin releasing additional chapters starting Thursday, to align with the 48 hour submission approval process and also because I have something to do Wednesday. I haven't written anything but the summary and first chapter, nor have I plotted anything out. This is because my plan is to release roughly 34000 words a day, 10 chapters of ~12.5 pages each, for 3 days at which point the story will be complete. I'd have liked to plan for more but handling the interface tables and so forth needed for a data heavy litrpg slows down the writing process. 100k words is a bit short, a standard pre epic fantasy 300 page spec fic novel, but this is mostly a writing exercise and I am considering a longer project if I can maintain the pace. Probably do a different concept, maybe a dungeon core, over 5 days, since a 500 page novel is more common these days. Slight subversion of VRMMO stories Stat heavy/crunchy No paying your bills by gaming No out of game conspiracies No angst, interpersonal drama, or damsels/dudes in distress Schedule is 30000 words a day excepting the first chapter, a limitation of RRs fiction submission system Fantasy, high magic, male lead, no party, guild, or harem No gore, some profanity, no sexual content, and no current plans for anything traumatic
