《Fixing Each Other》Chapter 34

I was leaning against Bridget's desk. I had showered and changed my clothes and now I was waiting for my mum to tell me about Jarred.
"When did they take her?" Asked my father. I looked at him and sighed.
"Earlier today." I mumbled, and he nodded. My mum came in and sat down she sighed heavily before she told me to sit next to her.
"As you know I had a difficult life. When I was 17 I was taken by Jarred. At first he just seemed like a rogue, he wasn't much older than I and the previous Alpha, your grandfather accepted Jarred into the pack. We were friends close friends. About six months into the year we had gotten a lot of hunter attacks and the one night I went for a run. Jarred, and I went to the woods and shifted. Everything was fine until it wasn't. We were attacked, and I woke up in a cell, alone," she paused to collect herself. I squeezed her hand pulling her into my side. She hugged me before pulling back and continuing. "Jared was gone and I couldn't feel my wolf. It was like she had just disappeared. Two men came into the room and they pulled me into this lab where they locked me in a sealed container. I was so scared. I thought they were going to poison me as this green coloured gas filled the tank. I tried not to breathe it in but I couldn't help it. Once the effects started it was agony. My whole body felt like it was being ripped open from the inside out. I started to change. Whatever the effects of the gas were it caused my wolf to surge forward to try and protect me. The gas would have eventually killed me, but instead it killed my wolf leaving me without her. They were supposed to find I was still breathing and I managed to get the drop on them. I acted like I was dead and so when they opened the door I attacked. I killed them and ran out of the room. I thought I was free until I ran into Jarred. Who remained unharmed. I was confused as to why he was here. He smiled at me and then that is when it clicked. He was behind this. I asked him why he would do such a thing. It turns out that he was jealous of your father because he and I were mates. So he took me and tried to take away my wolf so I wouldn't feel the bond. I was outraged. Eventually I got help and I escaped and my father and your dad showed up to fight. And we thought Jarred was dead by the end of the battle, but he wasn't and now I'm afraid he went after Bridget to get back at us." She explained. Tears welled in her eyes as she cried. My father hugged her and she sobbed into his chest.

I sat back silently for a moment taking in the information she had just shared. I couldn't believe it. That her friend put her through all of that agony so he could eventually trick her into falling in love with him. It angered me that he now has his hands on my mate, I needed to her her back.
Quickly.
"Mum, where did he take you?" I asked lowly. She looked at me and sniffled.
"The last place I remember being is a warehouse." She mumbled. I shot up.
"That's it! There is no second location. The base is the warehouse. They were lied too! I think I can find her." I rushed and I swiped everything off the desk before placing down a map. I grabbed a market and marked the point where Bridget was taken. Then I marked all of the industrial warehouses in driving distance.
"That leaves ten warehouses, I'll set up a party and we will start checking them out!" I grinned as I circled all of them.
"And if they aren't in any of the ten?" Asked Seth. I whizzed around a dark look in my eyes.
"We'll expand to a ten mile radius from there. If I have to search every damn warehouse in the state I'll damn well do it!" I growled.
"He's just being thorough son." My dad muttered placing a hand on my shoulder.
"Sorry Seth." I muttered beefed turning back to the map she's here somewhere. I can feel it.
——
I walked out to the garden and as expected everyone was there. I ordered Seth to round everyone up so I could tell them exactly what was going on and what had happened to their Alpha.
I stood on the makeshift stage that Seth had people set up and looked out at the crowd. My heart was hammering in my chest as I looked at their confused faces.
"As you know... Bridget organised an attack on the hunters, to save on of our own... what most of you don't know is that she was taken. We tried our best but we were severely outnumbered most of the hunters that attacked were human and are now dead. But they got away with her. We have shifted through evidence all evening and we've narrowed the search down to ten warehouses we believe she is being held in one with others. Now we are going to organise search parties and I will be joining you on every mission. I will not rest until I have her back here where she belongs. Leading you all. I give you my word that we will get her back and rain he'll on the people who did this to her. I mean that." I growled as I watch them break out into a violent chatter.

"That being said... training, it's vital. More so now than ever. I strongly urge you to participate as it could well save your life as well as Bridget. I expect to be met with heavy gunfire so we have to be careful. This is a time sensitive issue so when you are not out searching then I expect you to be training the schedule will be made and passed out by tonight." I bellowed making sure everyone heard me. They nodded and some howled in approval.
I stepped off the stage and made my way over to the pack house. My brother stood in front of me a hard look on his face. "You need to rest. You have been through a lot today with the fight and loosing Bridget and then that whole thing with the hunters. I heard how you caved that mans head in. You need to go and lay down for a while. I'll work on the schedule with Seth. And you can look over it tomorrow." He ordered I went to protest but he shot me down.
"I need to-"
"You need to rest what good will you be to her if you can barely stand." He snapped I sighed knowing no way I was going to win this argument.
"Fine I'll see you in the morning. Make sure I'm in every search Jeremiah. I mean it." I grumbled as I passed him.
Truth be told I was beat. I could just about stand upright. I jogged up the stairs and swiftly made my way to Bridget's room. I locked the door behind me and shrugged off me clothes jumping into bed surrounded by her scent. I took a deep breath letting it calm me before I shut my eyes willing the nightmare to end.
I wanted to wake up from this dream and find Bridget sleeping softly bedside me her arms curled up around my body as she lay sleeping in my chest. I wanted her here so I could hold her, so I could kiss her, so I could tell her that I love her.
Because this is hell. Not having her here is literal torture. I had no idea what they were doing to her, or what they had in store for her. I had tried to make a connection with her but it's like the link is just fizzling out. I growled in frustration.
Turning on my side I grabbed her pillow and held it to my chest hugging it wishing to the gods it was her.
"Bridget... if you can hear me I love you. And I'm coming for you I'll be there. Soon. I promise sweetheart." I mumbled through our link not knowing if she can even hear me.
