We stood there dumbfounded. This was not the way I intended to meet her mother.

"You have some explaining to do." Her mother yelled, glaring at Bridget.

Her mother was short maybe 5'0, 5'1 and had the same red hair as Bridget only hers was darker it made her look scarier than intended. Her eyes were a stormy blue, which seemed to fit her angry expression well.

"We were just... um... we were-" Bridget stammered, looking for a reasonable response. Bridget's mum scoffed, shaking her head.

"I do not want to know. Well, I'd like to know why you're doing god knows what in there with him when you have a pack to run! And what's this I hear about you appointing a new Beta. What happened to Brenton?" She snapped.

"Things got complicated with Brent." Bridget whispered.

"We're you fooling around with him too!" Her mother yelled and I couldn't help the growl that escaped from my chest. Bridget placed her hand on my shoulder, her touch immediately calming me. Her mother's eyes widened. I sent her a soft apologetic smile, to which she blushed slightly.

"You two are mates." She deduced, causing Bridget to smile. An enormous grin completely took over her mother's features. She looked different now, and by that I meant she looked a lot less scary and murderous. She pulled Bridget into a hug, surprising her. I smiled slightly at the two. Once they had parted, I placed one hand on Bridget's back and stuck out the other one for her mum to shake.

"I'm Jerome. Nice to meet you, Mrs Sage." I said politely. She eyed me cautiously before shaking my hand.

"Call me Alexis and I've got my eye on you mister," she threatened I nodded, smiling slightly. She turned to Bridget, "get into something less revealing before your father sees you and those." She ordered, pointing at the marks I left on her. I looked anywhere but her eyes. She turned on her heels and walked down the hall I turned to Bridget looking at her we both started laughing.

I picked her up, and she squealed I ran with her in my arms to her room I pushed open the door closing it behind us I rushed over to the bed and threw her onto it I collapsed next to her in a fit of laughter.

"First you get all cage fighter on that Kimber chick and then your mother catches us almost doing the deed." I laughed. Bridget covered her face with her hands and groaned.

"She totally knows what we were doing."

"No shit." I laughed

"She was right about one thing. I need to cover these. Thanks for biting me." She mumbled sarcastically. I sat up and turned to face her.

"I didn't hear you complaining, quite the opposite actually." I tease, smirking at her she got up and threw a pillow at me. I laughed, laying back down on the bed staring at the ceiling. I heard her open up the bathroom door and close it behind her I took this as my opportunity to familiarise myself her surroundings so, I sat up and looked around her room it was nice the walls were a light blue and her large queen-size bed occupied the middle of the room there was a large bookcase and a computer in the left corner of the room on the right was a closet and a bathroom. There was a picture on her nightstand of a guy. He had short brown hair and blue eyes. I assumed this was Tony. I pushed down the jealousy swirling in my chest and stood up, pulling my phone from my pocket to check the time 6pm okay. Wow, time really flies.

Bridget sauntered out of the bathroom, and my eyes widened. She was wearing the most amazing black dress I had ever seen. It stopped by the middle of her thigh and it hugged her in all the right places. There was a modest amount of cleavage on show and honestly, she looked amazing. The marks on her neck had completely disappeared, and she covered the mark on her shoulder with a thin cardigan.

"You look..." I trailed off, not knowing what to say "beautiful." I finished she blushed at the compliment. Before she looked at her watch.

"Oh shoot. Theo," She mumbled and looked at me "what are you doing still wearing your workout gear. Go get dressed." She ordered I rolled my eyes and exited her room.

I slipped on some dark blue jeans and a smart looking black shirt I threw on a jacket and my watch I got from my father when I was 17 and then I styled my hair in under 20 minutes.

I opened the door there she stood looking as gorgeous as ever. I bit my lip, surviving this evening will be hard.

"Stop that."

"Stop what." I smirked.

"Stop giving me that look." She scolded, causing me to grin.

"What look would that be?" I teased she was wearing heels, so she was tall enough to kiss my cheek without tippy toeing.

"Like you want to tear my clothes off." She whispered, making me tense.

"Well... when you look this good..." I trailed off, looking her up and down as I bit my lip. She scoffed before she walked over to me and grabbed my hand, leading me to the dining room. Huh, so we were eating here okay, cool. I gave her hand a comforting squeeze before opening the door for her.

I surveyed the room her mother was there as was her father and I'm assuming her teen siblings. I hesitated; I didn't want to disappoint. She turned to look at me, I must have looked nervous because she gave my hand a reassuring squeeze. I nodded, and we walked into view. They covered the table in a large red tablecloth, there were candles placed in specific places on the table and our food was on golden platters. It was all very fancy, and I was glad I dressed smartly. Seeing us enter her parents stood up her dad was glaring at our hands. He was a scary dude. He stood around 6'6 and was built like a house! He had deep green eyes that were glaring hatefully at me right now. His arms were crossed over his chest, making his presence that much more overwhelming.

"What is this?" He demanded, "who are you?" He questioned I cleared my throat and held out my hand.

"I'm Jerome Sir, your daughter is my mate." I announced glancing at Bridget she blushed and looked down. Her dad was skeptical of me as he eyed my hand but shook it none the less.

"That can't be true, her mate died." Said the boy. I looked at him, studying him slightly. He looked like his dad for the most part, excluding his eyes. Which were an icy blue, almost white... Her sister on the other hand had dark brown eyes as well as dark brown hair. She looked like a mini version of Bridget, excluding their hair and eyes.

I felt Bridget tense, so I squeezed her hand reassuringly.

"Cody!" Snapped Alexis "apologise." He scoffed as if it was the most ridiculous thing in the world.

Bridget shook her head, "it's fine mum." She dismissed the comment as she walked over to her father and hugged him tightly.

"I missed you." She mumbled he kissed her cheek and smiled.

"I've missed you too, sweetheart. Now come one let's eat." He said looking at the both of us. Well, he glared at me. We walked over to our seats not before she stopped to hug her siblings she flicked Cody's ear earning a grunt of disapproval from him.

I pulled out her chair for her to sit down. She rolled her eyes.

"I'm capable of pulling out my chair." She sassed, causing me to chuckle. Once we were all seated Bridget's father turned to me and eyed me carefully.

"Where are you from originally?" He questioned, and I tensed I answered, anyway.

"I'm from the Dark Eclipse pack."

He nodded a smile on his face "oh? I know the former Alpha." He said and my brows shot up.

"You know my father?" I questioned, and he seemed surprised to find out he was my father.

"Your father is James Morton. Huh? So, you're an Alpha. Why on earth would you leave?" I scratched my neck sheepishly.

"My brother was the firstborn, so he is the Alpha, and I left because my mate rejected me." I said, my tone deflated slightly. He seemed to find this funny.

"And you ran. That's pathetic. I can see why you aren't the Alpha. You're weak." He mocked causing my mood to plummet, I had hoped to make a good impression, I guess not.

"Dad!" Bridget yelled. His response stunned me.

"George. Be nice." Said Alexis he shrugged, cutting into his steak.

"I'm just saying I would have put up a fight and not ran away like a hurt little pup." He grumbled I bit back an insult.

"Stop this, you don't get to talk to him this way. He isn't weak or pathetic. He did fight for three years as he watched his mate fall in love with his brother. That was totally uncalled for. He is a person and you don't get to talk to him that way. Ever." Bridget snapped, glaring at her father, Alexis gasped as if it was the most shocking thing she had ever heard. Regret flashed through her fathers eyes briefly before he pursed his lips and shovelled some food into his mouth. I shrugged it off, placing my hand on Bridget's thigh.

"It's not that big of a deal anymore. I've moved on that part of my life is over and besides I have Bridget now and she's all I need." I said as I smiled at her she blushed before sending me a slight smile.

"Can we not talk about this anymore?" Complained Cody, we all agreed and began eating.

After that dinner went smoothly there was no more mention of my old pack or anything like that for which I was grateful things had simmered down when there was a knock on the dining-room door.

"Yes?" Bridget called out, and the door opened.

"Sorry to interrupt Alpha Sage but there has been an Incident involving Theo." Came Seth's worried reply. My head snapped up to meet his worried eyes. I looked at Bridget and she nodded. We both got up and made our way over to the door. Once we exited the dining room, we saw Theo sitting on the countertop in the kitchen. He was crying. Bridget rushed over to him and pulled him into her.

"Theo, baby, what's wrong?" She asked sweetly he sobbed into her shoulder.

"They... they called me mean names and then they pushed me onto the floor." He sobbed.

"Who did?" I said growling slightly, my anger getting the best of me I've grown attached to this little guy in the weeks I've been here. He shrugged.

"I don't know who they are. But they were bigger than me."

Bridget kissed his cheek before wiping his tears. "Let's get you cleaned up and then we'll figure it out. Jerome hand me the first aid kit. It's on the second shelf of the first cupboard." I quickly grabbed it and gave it to her before she began cleaning him up.

"Bridget?"

I turned around and saw Mr and Mrs Sage looking confused. I looked at Bridget, wondering how she would explain a whole new child. She sighed before she walked over to her parents; I ripped open the alcohol wipe and pressed it onto his knee, cleaning his wound. It should heal in about an hour, so it shouldn't need a band aid. I walked over to the trash, disregarding the bloodied wipe into it.

"This is Theo. He's my son, well kind of. I found him injured in the woods and I took him in." She explained they looked shocked as would I if I were in their situation. They looked over to the crying boy, a soft smile on both of their faces. I assumed they liked him by the way they were looking at Bridget. They both held proud looks in their eyes.
