《Fixing Each Other》Chapter 6

"Crap, crap, crap!" I muttered. I'm late, so very late. I hate being late. Fuck!

I had finally arrived, only to be stopped at the gates. I expected as much. I handed him my transfer papers, and he eyed me.

"Can I see some identification?" he asked, his voice was bored. I eyed him curiously before I handed him my driving licence. He looked like he'd rather be anywhere but here. He handed me my papers and my licence back before he buzzed open the gate. "Drive to the end of this path, a valet will meet you, he'll take your car and luggage." He said his tone was as melancholy as ever. I nodded and drove all the way to the end of the gravelled path. Once I got out of my car a guy stood at the end he seemed to be in his late teens. Well, I guess we all have to start somewhere right. He was dressed in a white shirt that was tucked into his black slacks; he wore a tightly fitted jacket that proudly represented the pack symbol. I guess prides a big thing here. His eyes widened as he saw my car causing me to smirk. I tossed him the keys to my new Jaguar F-Type in silver. (Pic up top ^^^). He caught them still in a daze as I watched him pull off to go to the garage I'm assuming. As I turned, I was face to face with a short old lady she greeted me with a soft smile, I smiled back slightly she turned around and began walking I took that as a sign to follow.

"We would have had time for an introduction, but you're late." She said pointedly, causing me to cringe slightly.

"My apologies ma'am I had some err car trouble on the way here." She nodded and said nothing more. People around here sure are snappy. I glanced around and I smiled, in what seemed to be a garden area there were two little kids a boy and a girl, the girl was running from the boy who was chasing her with a goofy smile on his face just as he was about to catch her she zipped around him no doubt using her wolf's speed. The boy stopped and pouted.

"Ariel, you promised no wolf speed, It's not fair my wolf isn't here yet." He said as he sat cross-legged on the floor. The girl now I know to be Ariel sat next to him and grabbed his hand.

"I'm sorry Harry, I err- um if you want I can ask my momma if we can have some of her cookies, I know they're your favouriteeee." She beamed singing the word favourite the boy shot up and grinned.

"Really! Oh, can we go? Can we? Pleaseee." He beamed as he started running. She giggles and chased after him. I shook my head. They have it so easy. I was impressed with the pack so far. I could see the strong patrol routine, at least ten soldiers surrounding the west side of the perimeter. Their stance mirrored in the east, I'm guessing it's tighter up north because of the high rogue activity. The pack itself is quite beautiful acres and acres of deep forests surrounded the grounds it was a large pack not as big as my old pack but close. I could see the packhouse from where it too was large. Larger than my old packhouse. Though our land is bigger, the Indigo Paw pack has more members. I could see the houses that littered the whole pack. There were many fields full of delicious crops. I could see the training field from way back here, there were many people of all ages training. This made me feel slightly better about today. The old lady led me into the packhouse and to a set of large mahogany doors. She stood in front of them and grabbed the handle. The door creaked open, and I quickly slipped inside.

Everyone's eyes were on me, but I could only focus on the goddess in front of me. Her fiery red hair was tied neatly into a braided bun, a stray piece of her hair fell out in front of her face making me want to tuck it behind her ear. Her body was magnificent, she had a strong pose and her waist was curvy and her eyes were a deep hazel colour with green flecks then I could stare into all day. But she was glaring at me.

"You're late." She snapped, her voice was hard, but it was the sweetest sound I've ever heard. I caught her gaze and a thousand questions swam through my head. How can this be? I cleared my throat and apologised.

"My apologies. Car trouble." I said she responded by cocking a brow before she looked over the crowd and began talking again.

"As I was saying, your job assignments are on that sheet of paper that is taped up. If you're listed as a warrior, then training starts tomorrow 6 am sharp, no later than half past." She said strongly I was deep in thought I could feel her watching me and it just made me feel worse, I mean I don't think I could survive another rejection. The pain of what happened hit me full force, making me want to double over. I gritted my teeth and held my head up high. She had stepped off the stage and was lost in the crowd of greetings. She was politely talking to the new members. I took this time to check the list. I walked to where the paper was and scanned it. My name wasn't there. Hmm, odd?

I turned and began walking over to her. My wolf was panting and wagging his tail. He just kept repeating the same word. Mate! Ugh, I heard you the first time. I thought bitterly. She turned around and almost crashed into me I smirked she tried to walk past me but I stopped her.

"Er excuse me Alpha but I don't see my name on the sheet. Is there a reason for that?" I asked, crossing my arms over my chest. Her eyes watched the movement intently before she studied the rest of me.

"I could put you with the warriors. Could you handle that?" She asked almost mockingly cocking a brow. I huffed, my annoyance flaring.

"Obviously." I mumbled quite rudely. Oops. She gave me a tight smile before she brushed passed me, causing sparks to ignite my entire body. Feeling this only made me think of Autumn and what she did to me. As I looked her in the eye, I could tell she was judging me I hardened my gaze. I pushed myself off the wall. She turned and walked away off somewhere unknown to me. I sighed. So I'm a warrior hmm, this isn't bad. I walked up to the crowd and began talking to some other warriors. I was told that we'd take this day to unpack and settle in, and tomorrow the work would start.

I was on my way to my room when I saw a girl carrying four crates of some kind of fertiliser she was wobbling around.

"Woahhh, woahh, woah!" She grunted I rushed over to her and took them from her. She looked at me and sighed. "Oh, thank you so much." She said and attempted to take the crates back. I chucked.

"Not so fast sweetheart I got this now where am I dropping this load?" She looked at me oddly and I cringed. "Erm, I'm sorry I didn't mean for that to sound so-so-"

"Dirty," She finished, and we both laughed "the greenhouse. Come on, I'll show you the way."

"I'm Jerome," I announce.

"Casey." She replied as she turned and began walking. I followed her towards the greenhouse once inside she began taking the crates one by one and stacking them in the corner. I looked around it was nice in here there were a variety of flowers ranging from daffodils to tulips to wild roses, this seemed to be just a flower garden, well greenhouse. Suddenly, my wolf perked up and began howling. He was getting somewhat unbearable. I heard the door slide open from behind us, turning to see who it was, and surprisingly I came face to face with the Alpha. I was still holding the last crate, and she stared at the movements of my muscles I smirked before I neutralised my expression.

"Can we talk... alone?" She asked, directing her gaze to Casey. She walked passed us after putting the last crate down and smiled.

"Of course later Jerome, Alpha." She said softly before she slipped out of the door. I eyed her.

"Need something." I asked my tone was emotionless and I swear I saw her flinch I cringed inwardly I didn't mean to be so harsh. She glared at me.

"I just wanted to talk but if that's too much of an inconvenience for you I can leave." She snapped, and I sighed. Doesn't she get how weird this is? I already have a mate... but of course, she doesn't know that.

"Look this is just as confusing for me as it is for you I have- had a mate. But now she's well not around and suddenly this," I paused gesturing between the two of us "happens and I do not understand how or what to think." I admitted scratching the back of my neck awkwardly. She nodded, smiling a little.

"My thoughts exactly, but I can't ignore this. Trust me, I tried." She muttered hotly, oddly enough that hurt she's going to reject me I know it. I turned cold my eyes glared into hers and an animalistic snarl bubbled at in my chest I sneered at her my body filling with rage. How is this happening again! What did I do in my past life to deserve this shit?!

"Look just reject me already. It's nothing I haven't been through before. C'mon Alpha, let's get it over with!" I snapped harshly there was an edge to my tone that I hadn't intended but as I looked into her eyes, I immediately regretted saying it. Her shocked look melted into one of sadness my pain must have shown in my eyes as she looked at me because without another word she turned and left.

Feeling dejected, I rushed towards my room.
