《Rejecting the Rejected》Rejecting the Rejected: Epilogue

Wow, the end. I can’t explain how grateful I am for each and everyone of you who have stuck with me from the very beginning. Without you guys, this story would have been on my failed list, no doubt. But the response was so overwhelming; it really encouraged me to become a better writer, and actually upload on time (Yeah right!) .

I am so thankful for the people that vote and comment, heck even fan me! I would never in a million years believe that people might actually read my story, much less fan me for it! I am so happy that people enjoyed my book, and took the time to even read it.

What I am going to say is, just watch out for a sequel because Carter and Kim’s story is far from over, but I can promise you that it isn’t going to be entirely about them, but someone else who is very important;)

Look at bottom for what the name of the sequel will be!

Epilogue

“Kim! Are you ready yet?” I heard Charlene call from the other side of the door.

“Yeah I’m ready! You can come in!” I yelled back.

The door opened and Charlene poked her head in. She smiled when she saw me. “Damn girl, you look fine!”

Before, my cheeks would have been burning, but now I was completely used to her perverted comments. She stepped into the room and looked at me expectantly.

Her soft pink dress reached the floor in waves. It was strapless, but it didn’t show too much cleavage. Her hair was curled to perfection and her make-up looked flawless. I couldn’t help but feel slightly jealous of her.

Here it was on my wedding day, and my maid of honor looked ten times better than me.

That’s right, wedding.

After saving me from my deranged mother, Carter proposed to me the very night. It has been four months since the incident, and just like Carter promised, he never let me out of his sight. We were practically inseparable, even at school.

At first, it was tough dealing with all of the glares and judging people, but Carter assured me that they meant nothing to him anymore, and I was the only one he wanted.

My dad turned out fine, but he was still recovering from injuries. The wound to his stomach ended up messing up some of his nerves to his legs, but luckily he is still able to walk after taking physical therapy for a few months.

Charlene must have seen my crest-fallen face because she narrowed her eyes at me. “I know exactly what you are thinking, and don’t you even dare think that!”

She pulled my wrist over to the full length mirror in her room and forced me to look at my reflection. My brown hair was curly like hers, but half of it was pinned up. My make-up was very neutral, because according to Charlene I had ‘natural beauty’.

My dress was absolutely perfect. Instead of the strapless one I was forced to wear while being held captive, this one had thick straps that crisscrossed showing off a lot of my back. The dress was purely white with a beaded design below the bust. From there it flared out having layers as it fell to the floor.

“Look at you. You look absolutely beautiful Kim.” She whispered with tears in her eyes.

I smiled at her and wiped a few tears that fell from her eyes. “You do too.”

“Girls? The wedding is about to start!” Carter’s mom called from the hallway.

Charlene composed herself and gave me one last look. “You are beautiful, don’t you ever forget it.” She walked out of the door leaving me to continue staring at my reflection.

You’d think after the last wedding I would dread this one, but this time I knew everything was going to be okay. I was marrying the man I love with my family surrounding us.

Kina and my mother had managed to escape without a trace. I hadn’t seen them since, and I think it was for the best.

I slowly walked into the hallway careful not to step or trip on my dress. I heard a loud squeal behind me. I turned to see Carter’s mom, Claire, with tears in her eyes.

Ever since I returned with Carter, Claire has made an effort to get to know me. We have gotten really close over the past months and I now considered her my mother.

“Honey, you look so beautiful!” She whispered looking at me with wonder.

I blushed, “You look absolutely stunning.” I told her.

Since I didn’t have a lot of friends, I had asked Claire to be one of my bridesmaids, and to my delight, she agreed wholeheartedly. She was wearing a similar design to Charlene’s dress, but instead of a light pink, her dress was more of a peach color, which complimented her fair skin tone quite well. Her hair was in a tight bun and her make-up was mostly neutral.

“No more of that. You look gorgeous and that is final.” She said sternly.

I nodded smiling at her. She smiled back. “Good, I can’t wait to see Carter’s reaction.”

She giggled like a little school girl while Charlene smiled mischievously. “Yeah, he won’t be able to keep his hands off you.”

I blushed once more. “Oh, shush you two.”

After a couple more minutes of talking, we walked towards the chapel.

We decided to get married in this cute little church in the country. It was rather old, but it was the perfect place to hold a wedding.

I walked into the reception area to see my father waiting. He looked quite handsome in his black suit and dress pants. He was slightly leaning on his cane, but when he saw me, he looked at me in awe. “I am so proud of you Kim.”

I smiled at him. “Thank you, daddy.”

The music started, and butterflies suddenly erupted in my stomach, the good kind. Claire and Charlene quickly scrambled to their positions as my father stared escorting me down the aisle.

People stood up as we entered, but all I had eyes for was Carter.

Standing there in his suit with his hair slicked back, made him look incredibly handsome, and very irresistible.

His eyes grew wide as his gaze landed on me. His look was filled with love and compassion, but also of hunger. I blushed and ducked my head down as my father continued to escort me down the aisle.

Keep your head up. I heard Carter’s voice inside my head.

I looked up to see his eyes boring into mine. I gave him a small smile and kept my head held high. Ever since we uh, completed the mating process, Carter and I are able to communicate through our mind link.

Everyone sat down as we reached the altar. I kissed my dad’s cheek as I positioned myself in front of Carter. I looked up into his eyes, and I was a goner.

I could hear the priest talking, but all I could hear was muffled noises as I stared into my one true love’s eyes. I was snapped out of my daze as I heard Carter say those two magical words from his vivacious lips.

“I do.” He said smiling at me.

I turned my head towards the priest who smiled at me knowingly. “And do you Kimberly Drake take Carter Night to be you husband?”

I looked into Carter’s eyes and smiled. “I do.”

“You may now-“

Carter cut off the priest by swooping me into a kiss. Everyone around us chuckled, including the priest, but all I could pay attention to was Carter’s warm lips moving in sync with mine.

We both pulled back at the same time for air. I blushed deeply as I realized we had just shared that moment with everyone else in the church.

“Alright let’s get this party started!” Charlene suddenly yelled.

Everyone cheered and started filing out of the chapel and into the small reception area. Carter pulled on my waist and brought my lips against his once again.

“God you look so beautiful.” He murmured against my lips.

I grinned and separated my lips from his which earned me a soft growl. That alone sent shivers down my spine. “You look quite handsome yourself.”

We were about to resume kissing, when my cousin’s loud voice ruined the moment. “Would you two quit kissing and get in here? You have plenty of time for that on you honeymoon!”

Carter laughed while I just blushed, once again. Carter grabbed my hand as we walked into the reception area. Everyone turned around and gave us knowing smiles. They all held up a glass of champagne and yelled, “To the bride and groom!”

The reception lasted an hour before Carter and I were dragged outside to catch our limo to the airport for our honeymoon. He still hadn’t told me where we were going.

People were cheering and whooping as we started to get into the car. A permanent smile was etched into my face. Never in my life have I been so happy.

Something out of the corner caught my eye. I turned towards the forest to see a figure standing there looking at us. I had to squint to make out the figure. I gasped and jumped back as the figure materialized into the trees.

It was Kina.

Dun, Dun, Dun!!! Woohoo! I ended this book with a cliffy!
