I am very sorry for the wait, but I have been sick this past week and I just can’t sit down for a few minutes without feeling tired. Also my internet has been spazzing and it just doesn’t want to let me on.
Anyways, I am sad to admit that this is the last chapter of Rejecting the Rejected! I am so grateful for each and every one of you guys. Without you guys, this story would have gone nowhere, but thank you so much for taking a chance on this book, and sticking with me!
This is a sucky chapter, but like I said I have been sick and I will probably edit it once the book is done with.
There will be a short epilogue up in a few days, and maybe even a sequel??!!
Chapter 17
Kim’s POV
I frantically looked around for Carter in the ever-growing crowd. As soon as Carter barged in, people started freaking out and trying to exit while guards started pouring into the room.
I was still standing at the altar while everyone else, even the priest had fled. My mother and Kina disappeared as soon as the guards started piling in while Robert was still standing in the crowd waiting for his turn to exit.
I suddenly felt hands around my waist. They pulled me off the altar and behind it. I screamed out, but my mouth was covered by a strong warm hand. I felt familiar tingles from the hand and I instantly knew who it was.
I turned around and looked into the beautiful eyes of my mate. “Carter.” I whispered shocked.
He grinned and leaned down to smash his lips against mine. Our lips moved in sync with one another and I felt at peace. They fit perfectly together, just like us. He pulled back a moment later and I groaned form our lack of contact. His mischievous eyes shone with love and happiness.
“I will never let you out of my sight again.” He whispered and this time it was my turn to smile.
Suddenly a loud shrill of an alarm went off and people’s screams elevated even louder. Carter grabbed my wrist and started tugging me through the large crowd of people.

A big burly man, I am assuming a guard, stepped in front of Carter and growled. “You aren’t goin’ anywhere.”
Carter scoffed and stepped in front of me. “I beg to differ.”
Carter punched the man in the face; which seemed to make him very angry. He punched Carter straight on, and Carter slightly stumbled back.
I growled and stepped in front of Carter. The man simply laughed. “Now you’ve got your little bitch fighting for you?”
My wolf howled angrily. Get him!
I raised my foot and kicked him where the sun don’t shine. He howled in pain and dropped to the floor almost knocking over a lady on his right.
Carter regained his composure and swept me off my feet and into his arms. I squealed in surprise. “What the heck?”
I could see the slight smirk on his face as we ran down the dark corridors of the castle. He didn’t say a word as he pushed open a door which led to the outside. The frigid air hit my face and I automatically snuggled closer to the warmth of Carter’s body.
He slightly growled, which made me blush, but he continued to run. He was running at break-neck speed, the kind of speed that a human would probably faint at, but luckily for me, I wasn’t human. As he ran through the woods, a road started to appear in front of us.
We made it out into the road only seconds later only to turn slightly left. Low and behold my father’s truck sat on the side of the road. Why the heck would that bastard’s truck be here? I saw movement in the backseat, and apparently so did Carter because he slowly set me down on my feet.
Before I could even consider why my dad’s truck was here, Carter suddenly opened the backseat and out tumbled my dad, bloodied and bruised. He groaned as he smacked down on the pavement.
All my anger for him vanished as I rushed over to his side. I kneeled on the pavement and looked down at him in horror. I didn’t give a damn about this retched dress.“Daddy!”

He tried to smile, but it turned into a grimace as his face contorted into pain. I looked down at his stomach to see a huge gash run along his stomach. I gasped as tears stung my eyes. “What happened to you, daddy?”
I felt an arm snake around my shoulder, and I knew Carter was trying to comfort me. My dad just chuckled softly. “Your old man still has it, kiddo.”
I laughed as tears streamed down my face, totally ruining any remnants of make-up. “We are going to get you patched up daddy, don’t worry.”
He gave me a pained expression. “I don’t think I’m going to make it through this one.”
A short sob escaped my lips as tears poured down my face. No, this was not his time to leave. He was going to get better, and I was sure of it. I stood up and Carter followed. “Carter, we need to get him to a hospital, soon.” I choked out.
Carter gave me a sympathetic look, but nodded anyways. Ever so carefully, he lifted daddy up and into the back seat of the truck. Daddy winced and groaned a few times, but Carter managed to sit him in a comfortable position without too much pain.
I sat in the back seat with my father, his head on my lap. Carter hopped into the driver’s seat and started to drive.
As we continued to drive, my father was slipping in and out of consciousness. “Do you think he will make it?” I asked Carter softly making sure I wouldn’t disturb my father.
Carter looked into the mirror and gazed sadly at me. “I sure hope so.”
After that, the car ride was silent besides my father’s occasional groans. Tears were stilled welled up in my eyes, but I just couldn’t find it in me to cry.
After what seemed like forever, Carter pulled into the very same hospital he was in only days before. Before we could even get out of the car, we were ambushed. People were surrounding the truck, enabling us to even get out.
Out of all the people I could see Carter’s dad approaching the truck looking murderous. He yanked open the driver door and pulled Carter out. “What the hell were you thinking escaping like you did? You could have been killed!” He growled out angrily.
My wolf didn’t like the way he was talking to my mate, and frankly I didn’t either. I growled which seemed to surprise him. He looked up from Carter to see me sitting in the back of the truck. “You found her?” He asked amazed.
Carter only grunted, so I answered for him. “Yeah, but my dad is hurt and he needs medical attention soon.”
This seemed to snap him out of whatever trance he was in. “Back!” he ordered his men as he opened the passenger side. He looked down at my unconscious father. “Rocco, take him up to the emergency room!”
A big man about twice the size of the alpha stepped up and lifted my father off my lap gently. I sat there still very shocked at everything.
I sat in my wedding dress, which was ripped beyond repair and very dirty. My shoes were broken and my hair was a mess, overall I probably looked like something out of a horror movie.
I heard the door next to me open only to feel two strong arms wrap around me in a comforting way. I breathed in the scent of my mate and I felt at home, finally. I was lifted out of the truck and onto the pavement.
I looked up to see Carter gazing down at me lovingly. “I love you.” I whispered.
He seemed shocked, but he quickly recovered and smashed his lips down on mine. Our lips molded together once more and I felt the happiest then I have ever been in my entire life. He pulled back and smiled down at me.
“I love you too.”
Don’t you worry kiddies! The prologue will explain any loose ends, and trust me there is a lot! Anyways, I am almost 100% sure that this isn’t the last you have seen of Kim and Carter. ;)
