《The Nanny》Chapter Five

It's been four days since the incident with my boss occurred, Jane has tried her best to make life seem not so bad. But it is... I haven't spoken to Madam Samia since that day, she doesn't even remember me. When I see her, I just smile at her and walk away.
I got a call from Hudaa... My mother is sick, she's at the hospital. Alhamdulliah (Thank God) my best friend is there with her. My mother got a stroke. I have to be with her. I have been worried since I received the news.
Today Imad has soccer practice, I can't take him. I can't even think straight. I need to leave immediately. I went to my boss's office, he doesn't go to his work place on Fridays or Sundays. He instructed me to enter, and so I did. "Sir my mother is sick, she's in the hospital. I can't take Imad to Soccer practice," I explained, sounding rather frantic.
"I pay you to take care of Imad's needs and look after him. You will go visit your mother after his soccer practice," he said in a flat tone.
"You don't understand. My mother just had a stroke," I spoke my voice breaking.
"I could care less about your mother. I will not repeat my self."
"I didn't expect you too," I said in a bitter tone. I turned around, tears streamed down my cheeks. I didn't want to show that in-human, that I am weak. But my mother needs me... I left his office and rushed to the bathroom. Trust me when I say, I cried a river. I couldn't stop crying. Each time, the thought of mother dying came to my mind, my heart broke a little.
I washed my face, and got out of the bathroom.

I went outside, where Imad was and he was riding his bicycle. I bought him one for his birthday, I taught him how to ride a bicycle. It wasn't easy, but he got it. "Imad time for soccer practice," I told him.
"No I don't want to go for soccer practice today. I want to ride my new bicycle," he said, riding his bicycle further from me.
"Please don't make me beg. You know you have to go, plus how do you think Messi become the best player. He practiced soccer every chance he got," I tried to reason out with him.
"No!" I sighed and crossed my arms over my chest. He can be stubborn sometimes, but can you blame him he just learned how to ride a bicycle.
"Ten more minutes, and you get ready for soccer practice," I told him. When all fails, we negotiate.
"Okay," he agreed. I got back inside and looked for his soccer attire. His jersey and sports shoes. As I was heading toward the staircase, Mr Ahmed stood there, his hands in his pocket.
"Layla," he called out my name. I choose to ignore him. I walked past him, I work for him doesn't mean I have tolerate him. He hired me to look after Imad, not to talk to him. My anger was taking over, and I don't like talking when I am angry. "Layla." I turned around and looked at him. "What kind of behavior is this?" He asked. He is lecturing me about behavior? Seriously how about he...
"Take a look in the mirror," I said aloud. My eyes widen and I tightly press my lips. Did I just say that aloud. I look at the floor.
"Excuse me," he said in disbelief.

"What is it Sir?" I asked in a low tone.
"You are acting like a child, and your manners are not adequate. Is this what your parents taught you?" He spoke, in an unpleased tone.
"Please do not bring my parents into this. You are going to talk to me about etiquette? You don't even respect other people. You are selfish, rude and egotistic. If you're going to question people's etiquette, start with yours," I said looking into his eyes. For a moment, I saw a glint of remorse then it vanished. Where was all this rage coming from? This has never happened before.
"ENOUGH!" He yelled, and raised his hand. I looked at him in shock and disbelief. I take a step back. He put down his hand, his eyes unable to look at mine.
"Layla..." A soft fragile voice called out my name. I look behind me, it was Imad. Tears in his eyes. Mr Ahmed walked away.
"Imad won't go for practice today," he said, while walking away. He rushed to me and hugged me. I hugged him back and told him everything was alright. Every word I said to my boss was replying in my mind, like a broken record. I was still in shock. Imad went to his room and watched cartoon. I went to the kitchen. Jane hugged me, telling me everything will be alright. I just cried. Letting it all out. I hope my mother is okay...
