|After 2 months|
It wasn't easy. Not easy for Mehrish to digest the fact that she was used. Used for something she despised. Revenge. She was his pawn for revenge. This thing kept hurting her. It was like someone was specifically pinning her heart continuously.
Hamza and Mehrish were together in Dubai where Hamza ran his business. Hamza kept trying to ask for her forgiveness and she didn't yet forgive him. Deep down she knew that she had forgiven him but she never admitted it. He has been kind to her ever since the incident in Switzerland back in their honeymoon two months ago.
She neither talks to him nor does behaves kindly with him even though the loneliness is killing her inside daily. He tried to take her on a dinner date together but she declined to go with him. He talks concerning her but she never answers unless necessary. She just nods to whatever he asks or says.
Hamza entered the huge mansion. Mehrish was cooking inside the kitchen. Even though he tried to keep a cook but she declined that she will manage to make food and wants to do so. He kept the bag of his laptop and sat down on the couch, scratching his neck and rubbing his eyes as he was tired. He took the small bag of gifts which he bought for Mehrish. Thinking that at least she will smile for once at him. He gazed at the bracelet which twinkled in the light. He got up and went towards the kitchen.
"Mehrish?" He called as he saw her in the kitchen cooking. She turned around and stared at him.
"It's for you."
"I didn't ask for anything," She said and turned around, continuing her cooking.
"I bought this as a gift for you. I hope you like it." He said keeping the bag on the counter.
"I don't need your gifts Hamza! I know with what intentions you bought them." She rolled her eyes. Taking the bag that was on the counter, she opened it to find roses, chocolates and a box. Glancing at him for once, she took the box and opened it. A shining bracelet made her eyes feel warm. She took it and showed it to him smirking,
"It must be of a small size."
Glaring, she neared to him and asked,
"What do you want now Hamza? It is a joke for you to play with life now, Isn't it?"
"No Mehrish believe me. I bought them in your size. I don't want to harm you," He articulated. He snatched the bracelet and pulled her by her wrist and made her sit in the chair of the dining table. He sat on the other one. He slowly locked it around her wrist. It was of her size. Just perfect.
"It looks so beautiful on you," Staring at her wrist which seems ethereal with the platinum bracelet. He passed her a smile.

"And it isn't of a smaller size."
After stroking her hair gently on the side of her temple, she stared at him for a while. Her thoughts were all tangled. Was he worth being forgiven?
He got up and left towards his room. They live in a different room. Hamza knew that she wouldn't be comfortable with him in his room.
After making the dinner, she kept the tray on the dining table for Hamza and turned around to leave when he saw her. He requested,
"At least please have a meal with me. I am tired of eating alone."
She sighed and walked forward without looking at him.
"I have eaten my dinner. I am full," she says.
"Stop lying for god's sake. I know you didn't eat. You never eat before I do!"
Mehrish chuckled, "You are mistaken, Mr Rahmani. I am not that typical ideal wife who doesn't eat before their husband has a meal. No, I am not! So sorry for your loss that you got a wife like me."
She was about to leave when he stopped her by clutching her wrist tightly.
"Then why do you wake up in the middle of the night?" He asks.
"To drink water." She answered without any hesitation.
"You don't drink the water which is kept in your room but you come downstairs and drink the water? Stop lying Mehrish. I saw you every night. You come downstairs to eat dinner after me. You know yourself that you can't eat before I do. It's not my ideal type but it's just the way you are," he yelled.
"Seems like you know me very well. If only you had known me before our marriage too, we wouldn't be here fighting for something so rubbish! Look at my finger, the wound is all healed but the scar will be there forever Hamza. You cannot remove the scar. Never." She yelled back at him showing her hands which had the scars.
"I am sorry! You know that I am sorry for what I did with you. I am tired of living this way Mehrish. I am tired of seeing you living here like a living corpse. You wake up, make meals for me and go to work and come back to make dinner for me and to sleep. I am tired of seeing you breaking apart daily. I want to heal you. I know I did wrong by misjudging you for the family that you belong to. I know you didn't did any mistakes. I want to love you, I want to make you feel special. I want to do everything you ever wished for. Please let's just stop living like this. Give me a chance. I will build everything back. I will try my best to be a kind-hearted husband to you...."
By the end, he had tears in his eyes. It didn't go unnoticed by her. She never saw him so devastated.

"Please... Give me... A chance," he murmured. His shattering voice made her weak on her knees but she managed to stand still.
"You were my pawn for revenge."
The past began flooding in her memories again. Making her more miserable than she was.
"I can't," She murmured gulping the lump in her throat looking away. She couldn't control herself from sobbing and ran away to her room.
Closing the door behind her, she sobbed hard. Crying her eyes out.
"Why can't I forgive him? Why is so hard?"
She yelled. She didn't know when sleep consumed her lifeless self and she slept sitting near the door.
M E H R I S H
My eyes flickered open all of a sudden when I witnessed a nightmare. Breathing up and down, I sat straight. I went out of my room, my stomach growled due to hunger. Yes, I was hungry and I just don't know why can't have my meal before him.
I stared at the bag of his gift. Opening it, I stroked the roses which were still fresh. I opened the box of chocolates and gulped down a little bit. It tasted heavenly. I wish I could remove all those harsh memories. I wish he wasn't like the person I witnessed during our initial days of marriage.
I took a plate and placed the food in it. Sitting at the dining table, I ate alone. My hands were shaking due to hunger. All of a sudden, I remembered his words he knew that I ate late at night. I quickly looked around the dining hall. There were no one around. Maybe he didn't come downstairs tonight.
After eating, I took the gift bag and removed the bracelet. Keeping it in the box again, I slept in the bed.

I heard so much noise. I opened my eyes. I looked around the room to find no one. The clock stroke 10 in the morning. I never slept so much but I guess because I cried so much yesterday. There were a lot of noises coming from outside. I quickly went to the washroom and freshened myself. I pinned my hijab if in case there was any non-mahram and went outside.
A lot of people were rushing in and out of his room. I knew he had guards around him but didn't know there were so many. They never entered the mansion. They were always outside. Hamza knew that I'd be uncomfortable with them around. Everyone looked down when they noticed me coming.
Within some time a man came out rushing towards me.
"Are you Mehrish?" He asked. I nodded slowly.
"I am Hamza's friend, Irtaza."
I just stared at everyone around.
"Please come this way. Please don't be scared. He will be fine," I knitted my brows at his words. Who will be fine?
I went with him to his room. I clean his room every day when I come home from work before him. I entered inside with Irtaza. Doctors and nurses were rushing around and what I saw next made my knees feel weak and gasped shocked.
Hamza laid there with a gunshot right below his abdomen. Tears welled up my eyes when I saw him. My hands automatically went towards my lips as I gasped.
"Wh- what happened t-to him? And h-how?" I asked with my voice breaking every second.
"He got shot by one of the men of our rival."
I ran towards him and sat beside him. He was unconscious. No-one stopped me either. The blood oozed out of the wound. The doctors were trying to stop the blood flow. Everyone was rushing around the room. The doctor removed the bullet out of his wound. Even though he unconscious, he flinched. His whole self shuddered with pain. As if every layer of his body was paining him.
I took his hands and couldn't control myself from crying.
"Mehrish, Please aap khud ko sambhale. Hamza thik ho jaye ga. He had often gone through it."
Often? Why often?
"What do you mean b-by of-ten?" I asked.
"Don't you know?" He asked
I shook my head and stared at him with my eyes filled with tears.
"Hamza is the leader of our mafia group."
Mafia? Mafia kill people right? Does that mean that Hamza kills? Is this why he is here? In this state?
"H-he k-kills?"
"No! I mean yes but he doesn't kill innocent people. He kills the only ones who deserve death as they get involved in most human trafficking, drugs and such stuff. He never killed an innocent person."
I stared at his wound as they dressed.
"Why did you bought him here? Why not opt for the hospital?"
"It's not safe there. We have doctors here and mostly all the equipment too. So what's the need?"
I looked back at him.
"We need A positive blood. He had lost a lot of blood. Please arrange for blood quickly." The doctor spontaneously told Irtaza. I stared at them. My blood group is A positive too.
"My blood group is A positive. I can donate if it matches," I stated.
"Great. Sister Ashley, take her blood samples. We need to check first."
I can't lose him. No way! Even the mere thought of it makes my whole world shattered. I know that he had been very rude to me but after the incident in Switzerland, he never forced me into anything. He gave me the time and space that I needed. His wound was dressed now but there was a little blood stain in the bandage which meant blood was still oozing out.
