When she said yes that day, she instantly hugged me as tears were floating out of her, but I could tell it was happy tears. I knew she couldn't wait to get back home and show Alfred, although Alfred was the one who bought the ring. We spent one night together when Daisy was asleep, discussing what I could offer her if I died. I know my legacy would run towards Alfred, which I didn't mind, but I needed her to get some of the shares after she told me. It felt like an awkward conversation between Alfred and me, but knowing she could continue my legacy, I didn't want to take the chance to die one day and not be able to take care of her still. I knew by this time; I couldn't live without her.

Things did get complicated in Gotham; this time, it was all over the news. Tom Crawford found his way out of court. His lawyer must've done some digging to get him out, which didn't bring any comfort to me. But I was ready, ready enough to bring him down once again. He wouldn't be able to win this now that he is all alone. Even his dirty schemes were over with, and nobody would no longer want to work with him. As far as Carmine, he's been in a coma since the bullet hit him. There wasn't any news on him anymore, but the rest of the D.A had to pay a fine and was utterly destroyed from joining the government. Instead, Bella Reàl, the mayoral of Gotham, brought a couple of people that we're worth trusting but still had to build up Gotham from scratch. I figured it would be enough to start somewhere with the amount of money I send out.

But today was my lucky day. Today is precisely the day I'm getting married to little miss Daisy. She promised me the wedding wouldn't be extensive, and I know she's just like me; privacy mattered to us. However, I didn't mind having Katherine and her friend Makayla be part of it; I have Alfred with James, after all. I spend the entire day getting ready, scribbling back and forth my letter to her. Things weren't so easy since I had never done this before. I was stressing a little too much in the morning; on the other hand, Daisy seemed to be calm. She kept planting kisses on my face, which undoubtedly led to something later that day. But she wasn't stressing as much as I was, and I asked her why. Daisy's only reason is it's because it's me she's marrying. She had nothing to worry about as long as I was there. I would say the same if I weren't worried about how it'll go.

I wasn't allowed to see her dress, Daisy wanted it to be a surprise, and she strictly put the words 'bad luck'. It did make me laugh when I heard that, but she wasn't wrong, leaving it up as a surprise.

"There's nothing in this world I wouldn't want more than to marry you. You're the love of my life. I know it's difficult for me to say it, and I know at times I can't describe it the way you want me to. I can only act on it and embrace your soul for it. Sometimes I put myself in a difficult position, but you as well. But this moment, as I'm standing in the aisle with you, I can't think of-"

"Bruce, it sounds like a goodbye letter to me." Alfred narrowed his eyes, digging his stock further down on the ground. I look at him for a couple of seconds and throw the small letter I wrote for her.

"Is it that bad?" I shrug a little, folding the paper before throwing it out.

"Unfortunately, yes," Alfred takes a deep breath, limping closer to me as he rubs the palm of his hand against my suit from leaving it dirty. "You'll have to improvise."

"I can't think of anything. I'm about to get married in a few minutes." I said, narrowing my eyes from frustration.

Alfred points his fingertips against my chest with a severe facial expression. "Speak from the heart. You tend to overthink the meaning of 'love.'"

He wasn't wrong. I was overthinking. My mind is circling thousands of things; after all, we are participating in my wedding. I wanted everything to go well, not for me but Daisy.

I shrug and look back at Alfred, watching him pat my shoulder. "Go out there, and wait for her. After all, she will be walking up that aisle, and I can promise you she looks stunning."

"She always looks stunning, Alfred," I mutter, to which he smiles at me.

The building was long with a triangular-shaped form, with white bricks surroundings and a bit of grey in the front entrance and some at the very top and sides with dark beige roofing to give the church some color; the windows seemed to be a tinted crystal glass that was designed with blues and beige color. I borrowed the entire church for this evening, heading my way down the aisle. My eyes trail off to Katherine and Makayla sitting on one of the chairs, along with James and his wife. I give them a slight nod and trail my eyes back up to the priest standing with his Bible in his hand.

The moment I reach the aisle, I stop my track and stand beside the priest, greeting him once more.

My body starts heating up, almost shaking on the inside. It got complicated for me because nothing put fear in my heart until now, which didn't make sense to me, at least not compared to what I had been through.

I fold my hands and look down at the aisle, knowing it would be any moment till she walks out. Alfred wasn't with me; he promised Daisy he would take her down the aisle since her parents don't live here. I remember she told me about it one night, cuddling up. Daisy told me about everything, her experience in Manhattan, what her mother was like, her father, and her old friends. Sometimes I thought I would bring her back to Manhattan one day once I figured it all out for Gotham.

The gates open at the main entrance, and I watch Alfred come out, holding onto Daisy's hand.

My eyes immediately trail towards them, noticing Daisy's features.

Her wedding dress is a lily-white, silk charmeuse strapless dress with an Empire waist and a sculpted neckline. The shoulder-length veil with a satin bow accent sat atop her signature high ponytail.

I could feel the tears slowly building up from seeing her stunning figure wrapping around that dress—her beautiful veil tracing her along the way.

That's going to be my wife.

I could tell she was nervous when she gripped Alfred's arm, the shyness clingy onto her. I kept my eyes on her, giving her a slight nod to try to comfort her. When she finally notices me in the aisle, a small appears on her lips.

Everyone, such as her friends and James and his wife, watched her slowly walk down the aisle. At this particular moment, I didn't want to skip anything. I wanted this to last, every minute and every second.

As Daisy comes up to the aisle, Alfred hands me her hand. I could tell he was smiling much more than anyone was, but he was also on the verge of crying. I softly grab her hand and help her reach in front of me.

Her hand is shaking. I could feel it as she completely stared at the floor for a moment. I place the pat of my thumb underneath her chin, slowly lifting it as her eyes trail to my facial expression.

"It's okay," I said quietly, arching my eyebrows to give her the comfort of looking into my eyes. "You're with me. Everything is okay."

Daisy couldn't help from shaking on the inside, but she didn't give up without a fight to try to calm herself down. I know she wasn't worried about the wedding but somewhat nervous since this was our moment.

The priest looks at us, making sure we both are ready. I look back at Daisy, and her eyes are glued to mine, and she gives him a slight nod.

"We're ready," I mutter, looking at the priest as she releases her grip onto my hand.

"Dear beloved, we are gathered here today to witness and celebrate the union of Bruce Wayne and Daisy Marrington in marriage. " The priest says, folding his hands together as he stretches them underneath his clothes, in which Alfred holds the box of our rings beside me.

"In the years they have been together, their love and understanding of each other have grown and matured, and now they have decided to live their lives together as husband and wife."

Daisy's eyes didn't leave mine, and so didn't mine. I could tell she was getting more comfortable, knowing that I was with her.

"True marriage is more than joining the bonds of marriage of two persons; it is the union of two hearts. It lives on the love you give each other and never grows old but thrives on the joy of each new day. Marriage is love. May you always be able to talk things over, to confide in each other, to laugh with each other, to enjoy life together, and to share moments of quiet and peace, when the day is done. May you be blessed with a lifetime of happiness and a home of warmth and understanding."

The priest grabs our hands and folds them together as I grip Daisy's tiny hand. "Do you, Bruce Wayne take Daisy Marrington to be your lawfully wedded wife, promising to love and cherish, through joy and sorrow, sickness and health, and whatever challenges you may face, for as long as you both shall live?"

For a moment, it felt like it was only her and me, and it made it much more manageable. My heart flusters through my chest.

"I do," I reply softly, to which her smile grows.

The priest looks at Daisy and mimics the same thing he asked me. "Do you, Daisy Marrington take Bruce Wayne to be your lawfully wedded husband, promising to love and cherish, through joy and sorrow, sickness and health, and whatever challenges you may face, for as long as you both shall live?"

She inches closer, speaking with her angelic voice of hers. "I do."

Alfred inches closer and stretches his hand to Daisy and me as I grab her ring. I hold her hand and slowly slide the ring onto her finger.

"I, Bruce Wayne, give you Daisy Marrington this ring as an eternal symbol of my love and commitment to you."

I couldn't stop looking at her adorable expression. It was a mix of nervousness and the temptation of happiness simultaneously.

Daisy grabs the ring from the box, thanking Alfred for holding the box as she slides the ring on my finger.

"I, Daisy Marrington, give you Bruce Wayne this ring to symbolize love and a forever promise to commit to you. Till forever, and till death do us part." Daisy says nervously, yet her smile still appears the same.

The priest smiles a little as he continues with his speech. "By the power vested in me by the State of Gotham, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss your bride."

My hands' are inches toward her face, cupping it gently as I lift her head a little more and bob my head forward, planting a soft kiss on her lips. Daisy wraps her arms around me and presses herself up against me, I immediately wrap one of my arms around her, still cupping the other hand on her cheek. The sound of Daisy's friends and James and his wife clapping fills the up the silence, along with Alfred.

In that moment of the kiss, our chemistry becomes an ever-bright flame. I could feel her soft lips and the sweet taste of her mouth. I detached our lips, and her entire expression lit up like fireworks. It felt like this moment was everything I expected; whatever I felt in my body from stressing too much disappeared completely.

I gently hold her hand and slowly walk down the aisle with her, watching everyone rise from their chair and clap along. My eyes trail back to Daisy's, and I could tell this moment would last forever.

Suddenly the doors open, and I immediately stop in the middle of our walk. Tom walks inside with a gun in his hand, and I instantly push Daisy behind me. James quickly grabs the gun that is attached to his pants.

Katherine and Makayla sit on the floor, along with Amare. The sound of Katherine screaming gave me goosebumps. Alfred completely went into shock, standing entirely still from moving a muscle. The priest crawls his way towards the bench, hoping not to be noticed.

Daisy grips my arm, asking what's going on since she didn't manage to see who it was.

"Freeze!" I hear James yelling at Tom, but he completely ignores him.

"Happy fucking marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne."

Tom quickly aims the gun and me and pulls the trigger. The sound of the gun going off instantly made Daisy jump behind me and everyone else—a sudden scream parted Katherine's lips.

The bullet punches its way through my chest, causing a gap hole in its wake that quickly fills with blood and gushes out. I could feel the pain spreading through me as I fell to my knees, a pool of blood soaking around my white blouse. Another bullet gets triggered, but it isn't Tom. It was James. My eyes trail off to Tom as he lands on the floor, bleeding to death.

"No, no, no, no!" I hear Daisy's voice panicking as her hands hold onto my body, frequently bleeding out of me.

My eyes slowly trail down to the open wound as my fingertips touch the blood through my shirt.

"Bruce!" Alfred's voice starts to echo, and Daisy screams for the ambulance.

Everything starts to mean nothing to me: the sounds, the entire complex, or the people. The only thing I cared about was surviving. I tried to grasp onto the air, but it slowly shifted lower the more I inhaled the last oxygen I had. I could feel my body collapsing on the floor, and the blood started forming around me from streaming through my chest.

I tried to keep my eyes open and look at Daisy who's hysterically crying; she grips my blouse tightly as the blood attaches to her hands. Gordon and Alfred are rushing towards me as I notice one of them is holding a phone to their ear; it start to get blurry, harder to recognize who it is.

I couldn't keep my eyes open anymore, not one bit.
