She makes me feel things
I promised myself I would never feel.
He holds the books to his chest, his backpack on his shoulders and his curly hair sprawled about messily on-top of his head. He stands tall as he walks the long almost empty corridor towards the school library.
The days have been tiringly long for Harry ever since his mother has gotten ill, he spends nearly every day after school tending to her needs holding back his tears so he can show his mother some hope of some sort even though he feels nothing but scared emptiness. His older sister has her college examinations in preparation for university so she has been completely busy with work leaving Harry to do nearly everything alone, he doesn't mind though he likes the quiet.
Pushing the doors to the library he steps inside eyes skimming the room, only a few people inside. He places the books down in their places and then searches for new ones.
Fingertips skimming the spine of the books as he walks slowly eyes locked onto the words of each title.
Turning the corner ever so slightly he hears a cough and then a sniffle, coming to a stop he looks around with confusion thinking nothing off it he begins to search once again that is until he hears a louder sniffle.
With brows furrowed he looks about, turning a small corner his eyes land on a small figure hunched by the corner with a coat keeping her body warm and a cigarette in her hand. Her fierce red hair catches his bewildered emerald eyes and he tilts his head to the side quietly watching her for a moment before he walks forward silently and takes a seat beside her.
The girl halts her sniffles and steadily turns her head the side eyes locking onto him, his jaw sharp and curly hair sprawled covering his forehead.

Neither of them speak for a moment as she takes another drag of the smoke and leans back against the bookshelf, her sniffles halting completely. With wet stained cheeks and a croaky voice she speaks, "Want a cigarette?"
Harry looks to her, eyes so drained and a look of complete fatigue rests on her face. "No thank you." He whispers.
"Do you want something?" She inquires lowly.
"No." Harry replies.
"Then why are you sitting here?" She asks.
"Because." He responds.
"Because...." She repeats with an undertone of confusion.
Silence takes over once again as she continues to smoke whilst Harry sits beside her eyes locked in-front on the window and the rain falling outside.
"Are you okay?" Harry hesitantly inquires as she looks to her.
"What?" She questions.
"Nothing." Harry's cheeks heat up and he squints his eyes shut looking away from her quickly. She smiles as she feels her heart swell up and flutter.
"Yes I am thank you..." The fierce haired girl awaits for his name.
"Harry, you're welcome..."
"Adrianna."
The next morning Harry walked the corridor with his bag on his back and his books clasped tightly in his hands as his eyes stay focused on the body in-front of him, the red hair being easy on the eyes. He gulps as he she turns her head to the side he quickly busies himself with a random locker pretending to open it.
His ears catch a breathy laugh with furrowed brows he turns around and his eyes slightly widen when they land on her smile, her eyes filled with confusion and amusement.
"That's my locker Harry." She giggles.
"You remembered my name?" Harry blurts out his cheeks reddening.
"Well of course I did, I hope you remembered mine?" She nudges Harry with her shoulder lightly and he bites his bottom lip looking down to the ground as he feels his cheeks warming up.

Looking up he smiles "Yes Avery right?" He purposefully gets her name wrong. The red head turns around from her locker with shock laced on her features, she punches his shoulder and he laughs. "Kidding, Adrianna." He breathes out. Adrianna nods her head and sends him a large smile.
Adrianna Ferns isn't the type to feel butterflies in her stomach or have her heart dance but when his pink lips uttered her name in a breathy rasp she had to stop her knees from bucking and had to calm down her racing heart.
"So what were you doing at my locker?" Adrianna inquires as she closes her locker.
Harry quickly comes up with an excuse, "I got confused." He shrugs.
"Right totally." She speaks slowly nodding her head, as she begins to walk off. Harry rushes to walk beside her as they walk in silence. Harry walking her to her literature class which is on the other side of the school from the maths block, the lesson he has now.
"You're going to be late idiot." She informs him.
"I know." He responds with a smile, dimples appearing largely.
"You're dimples are so adorable Harry." Adrianna stops in-front of the door of her class and reaches up to poke where his dimple was causing them to reappear once he smiles from her soft touch, cheeks heating up once again from the feel of her finger on his skin.
"Thanks." He shyly says.
"I'm going now bye, you should get to your class." Adrianna pats his shoulder and then turns around walking into her class leaving a blushing Harry behind with fluttering butterflies.
Maybe this year isn't going to be so bad, he thinks as he walks away with a smile.

The Emperor's Concubine
[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] The heroine is good and the villainess is evil. That was the absolute truth. That rule was undeniable as well as the fact that only the heroine would receive true love and her happy ending. Likewise, the malicious villainess would always suffer and leave the stage to clear the path for the perfect heroine in the end. So, for Blanche it felt like her world came crashing around her when she remembered the truth about her life. As the villainess in the typical romance novel “To Be Empress” she was fated to be condemned and abandoned by her lover. No matter how devoted she was to Theodore Estien, the emperor of Artias, she would only be the bratty concubine that would obstruct the heroine, who happened to be Theodore's lawful wife and the empress. In the end, the villainess would be deserted and executed. It was destined to happen like this, and yet she couldn't give up. She had to change the future. Preventing the romance between the main characters would get her killed. Much like trying to steer away from the enemies' intrigues, in which she was already caught up, would. But neither the heroine nor the emperor's political rivals would change the fact that Blanche loved the man that was supposed to be the heroine's. And no matter what happened she would always stay by her lover's side. So she wouldn't just follow the book's storyline and let her own doom arrive. Blanche would survive while trying to suppress all of the selfish desires that had made her the villainess. But was she truly fine with that? Did she not desire more than just surviving? Did she even have the right? Could the villainess ask for a happy end? Was she too brazen if she just wanted to stay with the man she loved and receive his affection? And wasn't there a bit more to this novel than she remembered? She didn't know and in the end that mattered little when the world around her changed with each day as more and more questions about the future and the past arose. "The Emperor's Concubine" will be updated thrice a week (usually on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays) *The Profanity tag was added due to the characters' occasional swearing, which should not happen too often.
