《Camp Closeted》9. Shady

I didn't sleep that night. I just buried myself deeper beneath my thick blankets as my eyes just stared at the poles that held Jesse's bed up.
I couldn't help but wonder as to why he was so unbothered by what happened.
What I did was so embarrassingly gross.
My eyes didn't even bother to move as the boys around me started waking up, some even leaving the cabin.
Benny's curious voice appeared as I quickly looked at him. "What did y'all do last night?" He asked amused, quickly sitting on the side of my bed as he adjusted his bright yellow turtle neck.
I threw Benny a cautious look, making him speak again. "He ain't up there." He rolled his eyes.
"Really?" I asked, pushing his bed in to see if it would lightly rise up, which it did. "That's weird. I don't remember seeing him leave."
"Oh no don't change the subject!" Benny's hand gently landed on my body. "What did y'all do last night?"
I closed my eyes as the thought of me nose bleeding swept over my mind. "Long story short, we kissed by the lake." Benny quickly interrupted me.
"Shut up, y'all didn't! Oh my god!" He threw himself back as he gasped, ending with a loud booming cackle that made some of the boys in the cabin throw him confused looks. "Oh sweet baby Jesus I'm about to pass out!" He flailed his hands around like a chicken.
I couldn't help but laugh as I watched Benny completely go crazy, putting my arm underneath my head with a small smile. "Sounds like it was perfect but it really wasn't."
"What do you mean?" Benny snapped his head back, raising his eyebrows at me.
"My nose bled as we kissed." My voice came out soft as his mouth fell to the floor.
"Micah don't play with me." His disturbed face being covered with his hand, making me close my eyes as I nodded. "Oh honey." Benny sighed. "But before your nose bled, was the kiss good at least?"
My cheeks began to burn as I looked down, unconsciously brushing my lips with a finger as if Jesse's lips left an imprint on me. "Yea I guess so."
Benny threw me a proud smile as if he was a mom watching her baby take their first steps, but all of a sudden it faltered. "Micah can I tell you something?"
"Yea sure, what is it?" I spoke low, his deep brown eyes piercing mine seriously.
"Although I do love a good ship, trust me, I wouldn't suggest dating him." Benny let out as I was slightly taken a back from his words.
I slowly got up from my bed as I leaned back against its headboard, not breaking eye contact with Benny. "Not that I was planning to date him in the first place, but can I ask why?"
He slowly nodded his head as he pursed his lips. "His ex boyfriend, period." Benny looked away, his tone shifted to a more serious tone I had never heard come from him till now.

"W-what about his ex?"
"Well his ex, Tristan, is another level of psycho." Benny's eyes widened as he said the word psycho. "I swear, Universal Studios can add his ass to the roster of murderers and milk him for 10 movies, that's how crazy he is."
"What?" I couldn't help but anxiously laugh. "How?" I asked quietly, looking around at the empty cabin.
"After Jesse broke up with Tristan, he made sure that Jesse doesn't get with anyone else. You ain't the first boy that Jesse has gotten with." Benny continued as his voice progressively got quieter. "I did notice though that Tristan only takes action when the person Jesse gets with, actually starts dating him."
"What do you mean take action?" I caged my legs with my arms tightened around my body as I looked down.
"I don't know, but the last guys Jesse has dated just magically disappeared, left him on read, or just started ignoring him for some reason." Benny finally ended, visibly waiting for my response.
"How do you even know about these things?" I bit my lip as I asked Benny, the sun proceeding to creep further into the window, making some rays shine onto my face.
"Well I'm friends with Andrew and I already told you how he hides in corners and bushes to take pictures." Benny took a quick pause to breathe. "He hears some shit, and he tells me."
"Whoever this Tristan guy is, I won't have to deal with him anyway because I don't even like Jesse like that. Also with the stunt I pulled yesterday? I can tell Jesse is completely and utterly disgusted by me and is just trying to hide it." My hand went over my face, feeling strands of my growing brown hair fall onto my forehead.
Just before Benny could've responded, his face rapidly shriveled in shock from what sounded like sudden footsteps running away from the cabin boomed through our ears.
The sound demanded attention as I slightly tensed up. "D-do you think that was Tristan?" I stuttered through my whisper.
"Let's just pray it wasn't." Benny tried to force a smile at me.
I decided I just wanted some alone time. I missed the feeling of being a hermit even if I've only been social for the past 3 days.
My mom was happy and surprised that I explained how much I actually started to like the camp, reminding me again to wear protection which forced me to cut the call early.
The camp library was completely empty. It very much reminded me of the library at my school. Libraries always helped create a sanctuary of peace for me and perfect quiet from everyone else.
Small rays of sun illuminated through the dusty window as it stood as the only source of light. My footsteps were quietly thudding against the carpeted floor as I walked towards a book shelf.
My hands skimmed through the unorganized book shelf as I took my time reading each book title and trying to look for 1 that caught my interest.

Meh.
The boy on the book cover is hot but I don't really care for it.
Looks boring. I judge books by their covers, bite me.
I couldn't help but all of a sudden laugh out loud as I immediately prepared to pick it out.
A ridiculously cheesy book title deserves at least enough attention for a read of the summary.
The second I pulled the book from the shelf, a face behind it quickly jumped back, the person being more startled than me.
Sascha's face was too baby-like for me to be scared of it so I just remained neutral. I proceeded to slowly pull the book off the shelf as Sascha's eyes looked at me in slight shock and confusion that I wasn't as flustered as him.
"You okay?" I clenched my jaw at him as I tried to process this awkward encounter.
"Y-y-yea." He began to stutter. His hand was shaking as he tucked a strand of his long hair back. "Sorry, this is my first time ever seeing anybody else in here." He breathed.
"Sadly not many people like to read." I smirked at him, eyeing at his freckles as his cheeks slowly turned to a shade of pink.
"N-not t-those types of books at least." Sascha's hazelnut eyes shyly looked away, his voice remaining soft as he tried not to snicker at my book choice.
"Oh this?" I quietly laughed again as I stared at the book cover, slightly embarrassed he had to witness me grab this. "Well I just grabbed it as a joke. I was curious what the hell this was about."
"I-It's not good." Sascha threw me a slightly disturbed look. "I-I've read all the books in here over a million t-times but I can't manage to read that again because it's too cringey." He let out a tiny chuckle.
"Spoil it for me?" I raised an eyebrow at him as I laid the book back on the shelf.
"Well.." Sascha slowly ran his hand through his curly long hair as he simpered, biting his lip to himself. "The bad boy isn't even a vampire. He's just a really introverted guy the main character meets at school and they fall in love." He casually explained as I walked over to his aisle.
"Lame." I sighed, watching him watch me as I walked closer towards him. "If you don't mind me asking, how come you don't seem to like being around the other guys?"
Both of Sascha's small nimble arms hugged his book as he took a pause before responding. "It's not that I don't wanna be around them, it's them not wanting to be around me." He sighed, his voice audibly saddened. "Everyone thinks I'm weird, just like Dallas said." My eyes slightly widened as Sascha did hear my bathroom conversation with Dallas that day.
"We didn't mean to-" He interrupted me in the most softest way.
"I-I know it's fine. It's not like he's wrong anyway. I am weird and I'm okay with that." His face flushed as he threw me the widest smile, almost resembling a small child that just received ice cream. "W-when the world decides to shut you away, it's your decision if you wanna stay locked in or create your own door. I figured I feel better locked in."
I didn't know how to respond as my stomach grumbled, reminding me of my lack of breakfast. Sascha softly chuckled to himself as he spoke again. "You must be hungry. I have some grapes from the cafeteria if you want some?"
"I'd appreciate that." I returned his bright smile as he began to go through his small bag.
"It's kinda hard to talk to people that don't share the same interests." Sascha nibbled on a grape like a small bunny as he spoke again. "N-no one here really likes anime, alternative music, and reading books like me."
I turned towards him, his body slightly tensing up as if my sudden movement scared him a little. "How would you know?" I asked, chewing on a grape.
"I really wouldn't." He shrugged, looking down on the floor. "But I have tried talking to people before but I'd just get shut out." He slightly pouted.
"I feel the same exact way sometimes." I replied, wiping my hands against my shirt. After a long awkward wave of silence, I finally spoke out again, beginning to stand up. "I appreciate you giving me some grapes, really, thank you."
Sascha beamed at me with a nod, remaining sat down on the floor as his curly hair curtained almost half of his face. "It's nothing, I actually wish I had more food to give you but that's all I had, sorry."
"You have nothing to apologize for. You're too nice." I couldn't help but feel the need to return his kindness but I didn't know how to. "Before I go, I wanna grab a book. You think you can suggest some books to me?"
"W-what kind of books do you like?" Sascha almost laughed as he noticed his cheeks were completely filled with grapes.
"I kinda wanna read a book not so cliché and must kinda include love in any way, shape or form." I explained, watching him nod his head as if he already knew the perfect book.
After casually walking to a book shelf and grabbing a book out for me, he finally spoke again. "Jack and Jade." Sascha's brown doe eyes shimmered at me as he handed me the book. "Sounds cliché because both of their names are on it, but it's really not. It's an amazing book."
I smirked at the book cover. It was a couple holding hands as the words Jack and Jade completely took over the entire cover. "Thanks." I politely grabbed the book from him as I proceeded to walk out the library.
I have no clue why no one talks to Sascha. He seemed like a genuinely kind and serene person.
Jack and Jade huh?
